iGO8 can't turn display off - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Hi guys.. I have this annoying problem with iGo 8.3.2.91972.
Sometimes when I'm walking, I want to put the phone in my pocket while the navigation is active and I want to have the screen off, so I don't press anything accidentally.
However, when I press the power button, the screen turns off and then back on automatically just seconds later.
I couldn't find any setting within iGo to turn the screen off either.
Is there some setting in sys.txt or something that prevents the auto-turning on of the screen?

Maybe you should use the seearch-function of this forum:
here is one thread for example where you could ask
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501910

I did search forum and google before asking and it really puzzles me that noone has had this issue..
Anyway, thanks for the tip, I'll ask in that other thread.

key lock software for sx66?

hi guys,
i'm looking for a program for my sx66 that will allow me to lock the hardware keys and screen when i place it in it's holster. i have tried screenlock 1.2 and mortsaver but they don't seem to work.
anyone know of any programs that do this?
thanks!
try settings ->system ->button lock
it is already build into windows
Isn't that designed for only when the phone is turned off? I'd like to keep the phone on and lock the keys.
The phone will keep functioning with keylock on just lock the keys and give yourself a call from another phone , you'll see it works
Doh! Why didn't I think of that?
You are referring to toggling the keylock on from within the programs, not pressing the power button (which I assume does power the unit off), correct?
Thanks.
The power button does not power off the unit, it just turns off the screen or if you hold it for a few seconds, it turns off the backlight.
you may try Start->Settings->Personal->Password along with Button Lock in the System Settings. This will have your keys completly locked.
Thanks guys. That will do what I need.
I think that mortsaver is sort of a work in progress. There is a beta that works way better, but the only place I've found it is here not on any website:
http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/...0aa759&threadid=37160&perpage=20&pagenumber=1
'
You can get the latest beta from the last or second to last page, but you might want to read the entire thread to get an idea of how to use the program. I think it will soon be a killer app up there with pzp

[REQ] Screen blanker?

Doese anybody knows a real small and working program for switching off (only) the screen for the HD(not Aebutton, Mobilemagic)?
Not sure if this is something you'd like as a solution, but one of the action screens (I think 16 button one) has a button for that.
Google for : "ScreenOff"
Try Gyrator 2
I set an event in Gyrator to turn off the screen when the phone is upside down or face down. When I put the phone in my pocket (upside down) the screen turns off.
Well, thank you for the tip robby2302! I found this here which is a fine solution for my purpose:

Backlight goes off whilst watching Youtube

Hi all,
Not sure what I need to change but at the moment, when watching videos, the backlight goes off after the specified amount of time in the settings menu. I am using S2u2 which then locks the phone.
I am sure this was not happening previously. Anyone know why the phone does not think it is being used whilst watching videos or how to fix it?
Thanks,
NiugeS
I had the same problem with IGO. What I did, I assigned the iLock application on the send button (hold the button) and that activate and disable S2U2.
So I hold the send button to disable S2U2 when I'm using IGO for a long period of time. When I don't need the GPS anymore, I hold again the send button and that reactivates S2U2... easy solution !

Screen locking application

Very simple and very very light application.
Does exactly what it says on the TIN.
The reason I compiled this application is purely to avoid using power button as I don’t want it to worn out. To turn the screen on or off we have to use power button which might stop working if we use the button too much. This application will cut the use of the power button by 50% at least
Rather than using the power button to turn the screen on and off, tap on this application to turn the screen off. Very small application V1.0
I might release another one when I get feedback from the users.
If you want just exe file then copy it in to your phonewindows->start menu-> program folder
Or use cab file which will install it on the above location for you
Enjoy !!!!
Trying to be contructive, the way this application could be more useful (to me) would be if it triggered the standard screen lock at the same time as switching off the screen. This would save me tapping 'start' then 'lock' and then pressing the power button.

hiya,
much appreciate for your comments. do you mean turning screen off as well as locking the screen..? so that when you touch the screen it won't come back on...?
I'm working on to prepare better version i.e. it would be on the home screen so that no clicking on start menu and then this app.
cheers

I think he means that you program should not only turn off the devise, but also lock it with the standard WM lock at the same time. That would be good for me, at least.

screen off + lock at same time only pressing Powerbutton.
It work perfectly for me so as it is. I changed the left soft-key so that it will start "turn off the light.exe" .When the screen is off S2U2 will lock the screen. So I can turn off and lock the screen with only one click.
To change the soft key do this:
with a registry editor go to HKLM/Software/HTC/manila/ . in HomeLSKPath (left softkey) or HomeRSKPath (right softkey) write the address to "turn off the light.exe". HomeLSKText and HomeRSKText are the text for the softkeys.
That´s it!
update for touch diamond
hi everyone,
massive thanks to all those who provided replies. I have tried on my blackstone (Touch HD) and it does seems to turn off the screen plus all keys as well.
I can confirm that it doesnt lock all the keys i.e. doesnt lock the device on touch diamond model. I'll modify the program and upload the newer version with the feature of locking the keys plus turning off the screen.
once agian special thanks to everyone.
Certainly reading the comments above, people seemed to understand what I was getting at. With the screen off, the buttons on a HD will indeed be non-responsive, however if an event (SMS or similar) woke the screen, the device would be in an unlocked state. What I would be interested in is a program that turned off the screen and invoked the standard WM lock program (gwes.exe?).
Hope that makes sense.
i like this application but i think the icon is really ugly..
Hi,
is there a possibility to do a screen unlock application which can be activated by voice commander? the situation is this...
I used voice commander to launch google maps while my hand is busy when the screen is lock. however, i will need a program which can be initiated by the voice commander to unlock the screen so that i can navigate the maps. Right now i will have to unlock the screen the normal way which i find voice commander redundant since i'll have to use my finger during lunching anyway.
Can you help me on this? Many thanks in advance. =)

Here is the app that has the feature which you prefer:
LockDevice => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=542482
Thanks for the link!
Been using this app so i dont have to fumble with the power button to turn the screen off. Seems this app only turns off the screen and doesnt actualy put the phone in sleep. I would like an app like this that acts as the power button does. So when i put the phone to sleep with the icon, i cant accidently slide the keyboard out a touch and have the phone wake up.
The whole deal has to do with tilt 2's keyboard sensor and magnet cases. With this app, the keyboard sensor still activates when sliding into a magnet flap case, while having slie to wake disabled

Hiya,
I'm working on the program so that you can have configuration option to simulate power button to put phone in sleep mode or jus to turn the screen off. This utility was just for people who want to save power whilst listening to the music, etc.
Please keep any ideas/suggestion coming. Much appreciated guys.
Watch the space guys....
That is great inítiative. I use the screen off function actually for the purpose to save power when navigation. screen off when there is a long straíght way to drive.
Put device to sleep mode will cause gps signal lost, which is not so nice.
I can image that there will be a lot of person who wnat to have different adds-on on this small application, it might be a solution to provide command argument.
Thank you.
I will try to see whether this one works for my purpose. Actually in my situation, I even don't want any key be locked as these keys are mapped for navigation.
How about screen toggle thus it is possible to map this application to a key?
awesome, i mapped the exe to a hardware key next to standby. now i can easily save power while wardr listening to music. ^_^
it combines very well with s2u2 locking function too.
big thanks!

Tom, may be it was to late to find your toggle light off switch, but it was very important for me to find it, thank you man, you solved a terrible issue for me, which is that programs stop updating (eg: twitter) when the device is in standby mode.
I heard that you can release another one, so my feedback is:
it takes about 2 seconds to turn off the light, isn't there any faster??? ))
This application is great. Combined with the S2U2 and HD Tweak i don't even have to use the power button at all. Device locked by S2U2 as soon as i turn off the light, waking up device by pulling out the stylus and rebooting with the help of HD Soft reset. Thanks
P.S. You should really add a decent icon, even though people can change it if they want to.

S Pen Question

Hey guys,
Is there a way to completely disable the S Pen to not write/do anything when it is in the air? It drives me nuts cause i can't control it and just scribbles or clicks on things when i don't want it to. I really just want it to click and do things when it is on screen..
Cheers in advance
simple, return it for a warranty
S-Pen
Hi
Go to ‘Setting’ - ‘S-Pen’ and turn off ‘Air view’.
A question to you: Do you have the problem that I have? If the phone goes into sleep whilst I'm reading something (this only happens at night when the ‘stay awake’ camera doesn't see me) and I wake the phone with the home button I go to the home screen and not to the last viewed p-ge. The only way I get to the last viewed page is if I wake the phone with the power putton.
Pressing the home button, just wakes the phone does not take me to the home screen. May its the app you are using, I am reading a PDF using Polaris.

This problem occurs if you freeze S-voice or disable the "Open via home key" in S-voice settings. You can unfreeze s-voice or re-enable the open via home button to get rid of the problem.
It's annoying, I know. Happens to me as well, since I disabled the double click to open s-voice because it induces a lag in the home button.

I've turned that off already. It still doing it though
The tip of your spen is stuck in, most likely. I saw a video of a guy tapping the end of his spen to unstick it, kind of swinging it. Best to get it replaced though.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium HD app
Possible solution
This is a solution to the infamous S-Pen hover/pressing problem (where it will register a press when it's not touching the screen!)
I tried turning off air view, tried tapping and moving the pressure sensor tip... nothing seemed to fix it properly .. nothing except adjusting the potentiometers in the s-pen
The rough guide:
1. Remove the button from the s-pen (a sharp blade in the middle and levering up should do remove it but be careful it doesn't fly off somewhere unknown!.
2. Adjust the potentiometer (variable resistor) closest to the stylus tip (the writing bit). Turn it clockwise to make it less sensitive and CCW to increase it. A few degrees should be enough.
3. Replace the button - put the tongue side in towards the stylus tip and then rest the button on the stylus. Press the raised end towards the tip and down.
Test (actually you might want to test it before you do step 3!)
A big thanks to kevie88 on YouTube for suggesting it in a comment - a quick web search seemed to confirm it. I made a how to video that might help someone.
I called Samsung support and they are sending me a new s-pen anyway so I thought the above method was worth a go
