Problems installing, wm6.5 - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

hello all,
i was about to install wm6.5, but i cant get it done.
Mobile: Htc touch diamond (ofcourse)
Rom: 1.37.172.3 NLD (i went to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400402 , and did everything they said, and the rom update was succeful.. so i dont understand why my mobile says its this rom.)
radio: 1.00.25.03
I followed this steps:
How to install the Windows Mobile 6.5 in your HTC mobile
This howto was conducted on GSM HTC Touch Diamond. For all other HTC sets running the Windows 6.5 the consequences will be the same.
Requirement
HTC Touch Diamond or Touch Pro (GSM only)
Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM (Choices: Diamond , Pro )
Account at XDA Developers(free)
Windows PC set up to sync with your handset
Device flashing utility
bootloader(Diamond , Pro )
Device Radio (Diamond , Pro ). Ensure that you download the Original list.
Now, if you are done with the requirements its time to back up with your contacts and personal info. For this you might take the help of Microsoft's free online service called My Phone. Remember, the installation would remove the software installed in your device, so don't forget to keep a back up.
Install the bootloader
What you need to know is that you are installing an unofficial softwar, something that your mobile phone is not used to do. To begin with install a new bootloader hardSPL on the device. This will allow your handset to accept third party services like the Windows Mobile ROM. Go ahead with the steps
Step 1: Connect your mobile phone to your Windows PC. Establish the ActiveSync (on XP) or Sync Center (on Vista, or Windows 7) connection to your device. Make sure the connection is active. To check this see if there is a bidirectional arrow in your Phones taskbar.
Step 2: Extract the bootloader you've downloaded and note the location
Step 3: Now find the extracted files and run the executable file ( it is usually called ROMUpdateUtility.exe)
Step 4: Follow the instructions. The software will perform a number of checks. You must make sure you have the following
i) The handset has 50 % battery life in your phone
ii) The correct bootloader
iii) host computer that doesn't go down
Step 5: Can you see the paired progress bars on your phone and computer screen. This part of the process doesn't take long as it is a small piece of software.
Step 6: Now Restart your phone. The small text will appear in the corner of your Windows Mobile splash screen. This might be unfamiliar.
If the utility runs completely, the device will be restarted on its own.
Install a new device radio
Installing a fresh Radio onto the device usually won't make much of a change in how your phone works. Some radios can improve reception on certain networks. Let's get on with the technique
Step 1: Connect your phone to the PC
Step 2: Extract the download radio files and note their location
In case, the radio comes with a bootloader, jump to step 5
Step 3: Extract the downloaded bootloader, using the location
Step 4: Copy the extracted radio file, with an .NBH extension to the directory where you have placed the bootloader
Step 5: Run the bootloader
Step 6: Perform the instruction in step 4 and 5 provided in the bootloader installation procedure
Step 7: Allow the phone to restart. This won't bring in major changes, but you might have to make some minor changes in the network setup.
Install Windows Mobile 6.5
This is where you get down to installing the new OS.
Step 1: Connect the Phone with PC
Step 2: Extract the downloaded bootloader again, but to a different location
Step 3: Extract the Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM to the same directory where you have the bootloader. It would be an .NBH file of about 80-100 MB.
Step 4: Now Run the bootloader and follow the instructions.
Step 5: Wait, the process will take 15 to 20 minutes
Step 6: After your phone is reset, the Windows Mobile 6.5 splash screen will appear. It appears somewhat hacked. But, your job is done.
Step 7: WinMo would automatically anticipate your connection settings and apply the appropriate connection settings. In case, it doesn't, you can do it from the device's Settings page, found in the top level of the new start menu.

Ok now the problem:
The first step was succesful, i installed the bootloader.
Then i went to the radio update: So i downloaded the radio version: 1.09.25.23. There are 2 files in that: 1.09.25.23.nbh and customRUU.
I first clicked the costomRUU twice, and started the thing, but it got stucked. So i went back to the webpage to look, and i found i had to copy the stuff into the bootloader shizzle. So i copied 1.09.25.23.nbh and customRUU into the map with: enterbootloader, errorbattery, errorusb, modelID, rapitool, romupdateutility.cgf, romupdateutility, RUU_signed.nbh, RUUgetinfo, RUURescource.dll, SSPL-Manual.. And i double-clicked the romupdateutility. I did everything the thing said, But after a short period of time, like 3 minutes, an error occured. So i did the same after resetting my device.. same problem. The same problem occures when i try this with the wm6.5 file. I downloaded BsB65K. from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=506533. I copied the nbh-file into the bootloader thing, runned the romupdateutility, and got same problems as with teh radio, what am i doing wrong?
Kind regards, Michiel.

The radio did come with a bootloader - customRUU.exe, skip to step 5. I know you did try using the customRUU and it got stuck; do it again. Extract the original radio file you downloaded, don't piss around with the files you've copied around at this point. Extract it and double click the customRUU after you've connected via ActiveSync. Once that's done extract the ROM you want, copy it to the root of the internal storage, press reset then hold vol down and <- at the same time until you get the boot menu, press power once to install the new ROM.

Thanks for the helping.
But, is this for radio only?
And i still have the problem. I did as u said:
-extract the radio files on the pc: 1.09.25.23.nbh and customRUU
-double click customruu, (do i have to run the whole setup, or just the first step? )
-what is the rom? the .nbh-file? because i copied the nbh into my storage of my mobile device.
-then i do the reset.
so i have to know how i have to run the setup, btw, at the reset or do i have to run it before.
regards

Did you Hard-spl? if not, thats your problem.

Nope that was radio and ROM.
Extract the files from the radio file. Connect the phone via activesync. Run the customRUU. Follow the instructions on the screen. Once it completes your radio is updated.
Now extract the ROM you want to upgrade to. Copy the diaming.nbh file from it into your internal storage. Press reset and hold vol down and <- until you get the boot menu. One option will be to install the DIAMING.nbh by pressing the power button. Press the power button once.
It will tell you when it's complete. Reset and enjoy. The method I describe is faster and easier than using activesync to install the new ROM.

When i hold reset+vol down, i get a 3 color+white screen.. witch says not except some rom information. etc.
And yes i did hardspl. i got rom SPL- 1.30 Olinex.

upgrade your hard-spl to: RUU_Signed_1_93OliNex_HSPL_UnsignedEdition
download here: http://rapidshare.de/files/40191554/RUU_Signed_1_93OliNex_HSPL_UnsignedEdition.zip.html click free user and you are ready to go...
hope this helps you

Is it a problem im having a vodafone device. bcs i hate the vodafone theme etc.. hate all the vodafone stuff actually
(got other theme now.. but anyway)

May I ask what the error is you're getting?

Thank you very much all, its working perfect.

"Un-brick" Imate JasJar After Failed ROM Update

First time post ...
I recently downloaded the 1.13.53 WWE ROM update from the Imate site and attempted to install it on my JasJar. The update failed leaving my JasJar in boot loader mode. No reset method seemed to work to bring it back up. Subsequent attempts to load the ROM update gave me the dreaded "Country Code" error. Here are the steps I followed to get the ROM update to succeed:
1. Uninstalled ActiveSync 4.0 and installed ActiveSync 4.1 as downloaded from XDA FTP site. Disabled firewall and Anti-virus. Rebooted machine. I am not sure whether this step was neccessary or not but noted that others had some success with this. At this point I was still getting the country code error when trying to install ther update.
2. Run the update but once you get to the first screen that asks you if you want to proceed, switch to the Windows file system using Explorer and set the current directory to your TEMP directory. If you are not sure where this is, open a command prompt (Start - Run - CMD - OK) and type SET. This will display environment variables. Look for the one called TEMP - that is where you want to go.
3. Search for a file called ROMUpgradeUT.exe or RUU.conf anywhere in the TEMP directory or its subdirectories. When you find the correct directory, copy the files to a new location.
4. In the new location, edit the RUU.conf file and add the following text at the end of the file:
[CHECKCEID_TYPE]=1
5. Save the file and then run ROMUpgradeUT.exe
At this point I was able to get past the country code error and the update began. The radio upgrade was the first component and it took the most time (about 10-15 minutes). The other 2 components upgraded the extended ROM and the OS but only took about 5 minutes each.
After getting the completion message on my PC I also noted a "100% complete" message on the JasJar screen. After a hard reset (soft keys and reset) the JasJar came up with the upgraded ROM in place and I was REALLY HAPPY!
I don't know if this will work for anyone else - use at your own risk but I wanted to share what has worked for me.
BTW - many thanks to all the previous posters who left "breadcrumbs" for me to follow in getting my JasJar back. This community is SUPERB!
Thanks again.

HOW TO: Rom Upgrade - Universal / XDA Exec

Well, this is pretty newbie advice to most of you, so you may think it doesn't warrant a write up, but I had to do some searching for info on how to upgrade my ROM so I thought it would be good to put it all in one thread.
1) Download the ROM you want from the FTP server....Details here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_FTP_Site
2) Download MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe to your Desktop from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=7644
3) Disconnect your device from the USB cable.
4) Hold the Power button + Light bulb button, and press the reset pin found at the back of the device (fiddly if you have large fingers).
You will notice that the screen of the device is dark but has “USB” and "v 1.0" written on it.
5) Connect back your device via the USB cable.
6) Run the download ROM upgrade application...When it prompts you to begin the upgrade process, just minimise the window or leave it alone (DON'T CLOSE THE PROGRAM).
7) Whilst it is running, use Windows to search for a file named RUU.dll
8 ) Right click file and choose ‘Open Containing Folder’
9) Select all files and copy them
10) Create a temporary storage location....C:\Upgrade....And Paste all copied files in here.
11) Copy the file MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe from the desktop into C:\Upgrade
12) Close the previously started upgrade application running in the background
13) Run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe from it's C:\Upgrade location
The upgrade process should begin now…If it does not, run the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe application again
Make sure you DO NOT DISCONNECT the cable.
The upgrade takes around 20 minutes to complete.
14: Disconnect the USB cable when told, then push the reset pin. Ignore the advice to do a hard reset by holding down the soft keys while you do this, just push the reset pin by itself. Your Universal will load the new ROM image and you're all done.
Thanks.
Thanks!
There is only one thing, step 4, it is not USB but Serial.

It doesn't seem to work with last Qtek 9000 ROM...
Help!
OK, I made my own instructions. Follow this instruction of mine:
The file is extracted in your computer. Once you run the shipped.exe file, you need to go to:
My Computer
Your Drive (mine is Drive C)
Show the contents of this drive
Documents and Settings
Choose your folder name
Choose "TOOLS" from the menu bar
Choose "FOLDER OPTIONS"
Click on the "VIEW" tab
Click on "HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS"
YOU WANT TO SHOW ALL HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS
Now go to TEMP folder
Now you will notice a bunch of folders will show up, tons of them to be exact. What you need to do now is click on the shipped.exe file again and "LOOK" for the folder being created because that folder is what you want to copy. If you did not see it created, you have to manually open each folder and look for the files I listed below.
Assuming you found the folder, you will have these following files inside that folder:
ms_.nbf----------------------this file is responsible for EXT ROM Version
nk.nbf------------------------this file is responsible for Windows Mobile Version
radio.nbf---------------------this file is responsible for Radio Version
EnterBL
GetDeviceData
readme
ROMUpgradeUt
RUU.conf
RUU.dll
UI.dll
MaUpgradeUt_noID
If the file MaUpgradeUt_noID is not there. You need to get hold of a copy of this file as you need this.
There you have it, REMEMBER, you need to have the MaUpgradeUt_noID file plus all the rest of the file if you want to upgrade to the ENTIRE I-Mate ROM, QTEK, O2, or whatever ROM you want.
If you only want to upgrade to the radio version then you need to delete 2 files namely: "ms_.nbf" and "nk.nbf". Leave "radio.nbf" alone and click on the "MaUpgradeUt_noID" file to initiate the Radio installation. Basically those 3 files control what you want to update on your device.
Hope my instructions were clear enough for you. Hope this helps.
cannot locate files after running exe
Hi All, I have ran the ROM update exe and the message saying extracting file XXX etc appears OK then the program closes. When I search for the files, for instance *.nbf they dont exist anywhere on the computer - does the exe autodelete the temp directory and have I missed a stage ? Any help gratefully accepted

Did you follow the instructions above on how to show hidden files and folders? After double clicking the .exe file and running it, leave it open then look for the NEWLY created folder in the TEMP folder as instructed. You need to look for it the hard way by opening each folder one by one and check for the files to see if you got the right one.
someone advised me for some extra step, someone please advise is it coorect steps:
"Then you need to make a small change to one of the text files. Look in the directory for
RUU.conf
Open it in notepad and add this line
[CHECKCEID_TYPE]=1
then save it
That’s about it….."
thx for reply christian,
yes i tried searching every folder the manual way but still no joy, I have just copied the rom exe onto my other computer and it worked OK on there and updated my exec without any further problems
Hi All, Linked to the update of the exec software , i noticed the audio playback on tom tom navigator and media files is very jerky to the point you can hardly make out what is being said. has anyone else had the same problem and have you found a solution to fix the problem ?
many thanks

Bricked QTek 9000
I got a Qtek on ebay and it was working when I tried to upgrade it failed with a "115" Radio Error.
Tried the method on this thread and it completes the upgrade but when I reset, I does not change from "USB v1.0" can anyone help!!!!
Hi
I'd like to take the risk for updating my Dopod 900 for new versions of ROM & radio, but I've got couple of questions.
1. I've got Dopod 900. I do understand, that it's absolutely the same with Qtek9000, but to be sure: may I use ROM update for Qtek?
2. My ROM (1.13.69) & radio (1.04.02) as of 10/12/05 are ancient What version of ROM & radio consider to be stable as of now? I saw in signatures that people using ROM 1.30.77 and radio 1.09.00. Are they OK?
3. I got on FTP and was a bit confused: as far as I understood the latest ROM is 1.30.100 (UNI_QTEK_130100_190_10900_ESN_Ship.exe), but it's for ESN (Spanish???) localization. So in order to get WWE I should use UNI_ORUK_13090_174_10300_WWE_Ship.exe and that update radio separately from 1.03.00 up to 1.09.00 or just UNI_QTEK_13077_176_10900_WWE_Ship.exe? What would u advice me?
4. What is the benefit for updating from 1.13.69 and 1.04.02? Will it works faster & more stable?
Thx in advance & take care
Hi
I tried this and get a 120 (incorrect country ID) error.
Strange, my V1640 from Vodafone is spanish and i want to upgrade to UNI_QTEK_130100_190_10900_ESN_Ship.exe

Am i wrong? Is there a way to get rid of that message?

4) Hold the Power button + Light bulb button, and press the reset pin found at the back of the device (fiddly if you have large fingers).
The devide says me:
Boot options:

I soupouse that it isn´t the boot loader for go on with the proces... what happens?

Edit post number 1 and add as the last step:
14: Disconnect the USB cable when told, then push the reset pin. Ignore the advice to do a hard reset by holding down the soft keys while you do this, just push the reset pin by itself. Your Universal will load the new ROM image and you're all done.
It seems that a lot of people are having trouble after a ROM upgrade by following the instructions on the upgrade program which tell them to hard reset.
Many thanks! PU10 by German T-Mobile upgraded to WWE
I have a T mobile mda pro, any recommendations as to what the best rom is.
Im torn between the new orange rom which is supposed to be good and the jasjar one?
Anyone?
Latest jasjar ROM
Hi,
Can I follow these instructions with my UK jasjar?
Where can I find the latest Rom?
Cheers
Anyone can point me out to the adequate ROM?
thanks

[GUIDE]How to Flash Your Vogue (CDMA Only!!!!)

Hi all!!
Ever since I got my Sprint Vogue, I have spent God only knows how many hours looking for and gathering information regarding this phone (flashing instructions, unlocking, SuperCID, etc). There are a few sites that have fairly comprehensive guides as to how to do this, but there are very few posts in the Vogue Section here at XDA-Developers.
Having said that, I figured I would create my own "How to Flash Your Vogue"-Thread. This is a multi-step process and I cannot emphasize the importance of following every step down to the "T", that is unless you are looking for a silicone-skinned brick...
Who is this guide for?
*Anyone with a CDMA version of the Touch. That means no GSM
*Noobs and Seniors alike.
*People who have trouble flashing their devices.
*Anyone looking for links to more information.
*Curious people in general.
*Anyone willing to get rid of the nasty stock rom and looking for a newer and cleaner OS (notice that I never said more stable, so do not blame me afterwards ).
Please keep in mind that there is always a chance of bricking your device with these procedures. I will not be in any way, shape, or form responsible if you damage your device while doing this.
Got your coffee? Alright, let's do this.
Step 1. Preparing the device
As with every phone, you have to make sure that you have the following things done before flashing:
* Battery charged at least 50%.
* All the necessary programs (see next post).
* Instructions handy.
Make sure that you back up all your information (contacts, e-mails, files).... essentially, anything that you would like to keep post-flashing. You can do this via Active Sync/Mobile Device Center or via third party software (PIM Backup is really good)...
You will have to reinstall every last piece of software in your device as it will be hard reset. Some programs may work if installed in a SD card directly, but a lot of them write things to the registry and copy files to the device, which they require to run. Long story short, keep all your cabs and exe files in a safe place so you can restore later if needed.
Step 2. Unlocking the Device (HardSPL)
Unlocking the device is done so that you can flash custom roms in your devices. The unlocker that you are about to download and use was provided by "ImCoKeMaN" at PPCGeeks. If you are interested in the full thread, please click here.
If you have read the above link, you will see two versions of the HardSPL (0.40 and 2.31). Simply use 2.31 as it works fine with most devices.
To use this under Windows XP,
1. Connect your device to your computer and make sure it is synced with ActiveSync.
2. Download and extract the contents of the zip file, which is an exe. Let it run to completion. You will be prompted to disconnect and reconnect your device at one point in the process. Do it... don't worry
3. It will look like it is flashing a rom via a RUU. Do not disconnect the device after it is done!!!!!
4. Once it is done flashing, you will see a prompt that says that it will run exitbl. DO NOT DISCONNECT YOUR DEVICE. At this point, open ActiveSync, go to File>Connection Settings> Uncheck "Allow USB Connections". Continue following the on screen instructions and let it finish.
5. Go to bootloader once more to verify that it worked. You should see 2.31 CoKe MFG.
To use this under Windows Vista/7 x64 (thanks jitajt),
jitajt said:
connect your device to WMDC (it's not necessary to set up device, just connect without setting up device)
then right click on the 2.31 unlocker and run as administrator
follow the directions, you will get an error about sleep.exe not being compatible with x64 but just hit ok and continue, (you will get about 10 of them)
then just keep following the directions in the command prompt and it will put your phone into bootloader then you have to disconnect and reconnect when it tells you to. and it will flash your phone and reset it. then your done you can close the command prompt and disconnect your phone.
I did it just like above and I have not had any problems.
Do this at your own risk as I am not responsible for your phone

Step 3. Flashing your Roms
The time has finally arrived. You sat down patiently through the unlocker and you are now ready to take the leap of faith into what you believe will bring your device to a new level of usefulness (also known as getting rid of that nasty, bloated, stock rom )
The process is relatively simple:
1. Download the RUU package from this post. I am only posting this because some cooks only post the rom nbh files rather than the whole package.
2. Go into the threads and look for whichever rom you prefer. Look at my signature to learn which one I am using. NFSFan (my current one) is by far the best one I have tried so far. You can download it from here
3. Put your device in bootloader mode and connect the device to the computer. Once in bootloader, activesync will NOT see the device. If the RUU gives a connection error, try to run it with the devices in regular mode (with ActiveSync connected)
4. Open the Romupdateutility.exe and follow the steps.
5. Once it is done flashing the rom, disconnect it from the computer and hard reset it. To do this, simply hold "Send" + "End Call" +Stylus in the reset hole for about 3 seconds. It will prompt you to erase all the data and restore to factory defaults. Press "Enter", which is the center button in the directional pad. Once it is done, press "Send" to reboot.
Congratulations, you just flashed your first rom for Vogue
Step 4. SuperCID
This step can be skipped if you are not thinking of doing anything as far as your radio (such as flashing radios other than the ones intended for Vogue). This is also used to do other things such as modifying certain important things on your device such as the NV files, which is information that will not be discussed here. However, if you are interested in finding out more, simply google it, there is a ton of information out there.
Anyways, back to SuperCID... here is the procedure (thanks to hpnasik at mobile-files.com for the post)
1. Download the following special rom . This is an Alltel rom with radio 3.37. This was specially prepared to be able to reduce the Security Level of the device to level zero.
2. Download mtty since you will need it. Do not worry if you do not how to use it. You will have a step by step in this guide.
3. Flash the Alltel rom from above.
Now comes the fun part...
4. Disable USB in Connection Settings of Active Sync
5. Boot The Phone holding power button and camera button to enter bootloader.
6. Phone Will Display Serial in Bottom
7. Connect Phone to PC
8. Phone should Display USB instead of Serial in Bottom
9. start mtty.exe
10. Select All Default and Connect to USB in drop down box and Shoot the Following Commands (All Commands are case Sensitive)
11. run command rtask a : After this Command Phone will not Display any thing
12. run command echo_on : even though nothing is shown to screen
13. run command readCID : in Sprint it will display SPCS_001
14. run command writeCID 00000000 : Set CID Value to 00000000 replaces SPCS_001 in Sprint (This make PPC Radio Security Level to Zero)
15. run command readCID : This will Display the Update CID as 00000000
16. run Command retuoR : This will return to Original Boot Loader State
Congratulations, you just SuperCIDed your device. Original thread with the instructions can be found here if you are interested.
Step 5. Flashing your radio.
Now that your device has been SuperCIDed, you will have the opportunity to flash radios that have been ported to this device (ie. there is a version of the 3.42.40 radio for the Titan, which has been ported to the Vogue). There are two ways of doing this:
Way 1: Do it by flashing via RUU (same as with flashing a rom)
Way 2: Flash via microSD card. Simply put whichever radio that you wish to flash in the root of a 2GB or less microSD card formatted to fat32. Rename the radio to VOGUIMG.NBH and put your device in bootloader. The flashing will start by itself.
Way 3 (I know I said two ways...): There are a few stock roms that come with new radios. One of them can be downloaded directly from HTC and it is for the Sprint Touch. This one comes with Radio 3.42.30
The other one is for Bell Mobility and this one comes with Radio 3.42.50.
Why am I giving "Way 3" if the other two options seem much easier?? I have run into the problem where my device would not let me flash other radios than the one that I had. SD card method did not work and the RUU started out fine but quits at 8% rebooting my phone and displaying Error 328 in the RUU on the PC. Anyway, here are the links...
Sprint rom with radio 3.42.30
Bell rom with radio 3.42.50
Verizon Stock Rom
All Shipped Roms (All Carriers) - Thanks conflipper!
All Above Radios zipped
The newer radios perform a little better and give out better GPS signal (faster locks)....
Hang on a sec... did you just say GPS?!?!? But my Vogue does not have a GPS.... It does, just read a little further and be happy
Step 6. Enabling GPS, Returning to Stock, and Carrier Cabs
As I said before, there is a GPS hidden on your device. Now, if you are like me and went straight to the specs of the phone to confirm, you will probably try to call BS on this. Long story short, there are a few custom roms which have this "tweak" already implemented (like the one I am using from NFSFan). If you require some more info, I will post it later...
Location must be on or else your GPS will not work. To activate it, go to Settings>Personal>Phone and change the Location setting to ON instead of 911 (thanks for pointing it out, th3lolz)

For those of you with the official mr1 update from verizon that cannot get their gps working:
My xv6900 came with the official update and I got it working, it involves downgrading to a NON-GPS radio, then back to a gps radio...
go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=533639
now the instructions are going to imply that you must load the unlocker before each flash... bs don't worry about that
1. flash the .40 unlocker
2. flash the non-gps rom (reset before customization)
3. flash the 2.31 unlocker
4. flash the vzw rom (reset before customization)
5. flash any custom rom or android rom
that's it, time consuming, but it works
*ignore the multiple flashing instructions, its completely unnecessary, I've never flashed more than once with no problem ever....
I also suggest keeping the vzw radio, but do as you will, I like the 3.37.38 radio.. ain't broke don't fix it
lastly, just make sure you RESET BEFORE THE CUSTOMIZATIONS RUN...... that is what locks your gps.
good luck!
ps. the verizon radio rom that is in that post is for the "leaked" 3.37.37 radio, I reccomend using the official update from verizon here for the 3.37.38 radio rom instead:

If, for whatever reason you need to return your phone for repair/replacement, you will need to relock it. To relock your phone, simply run the unlocker 0.40 and flash the stock rom of your carrier.

How exciting!! My first victi...erh patient
Did you put the device in bootloader mode? If you did and it is connected to the PC, you should see USB on the screen of your device. Also, do you have ActiveSync on your XP machine? You will need it for the drivers on this step. Changing USB ports sometimes help as well. And one last thing, do not use a USB hub, go directly through the USB ports in your computer. Good luck!
yes i have activesync installed xp, and yes it changes from serial to usb in bootloader mode. But once i connect it to the pc while in bootloader mode my computer recognizes just activesync doesnt, only when its on and not in bootloader mode will activesync recognize it...
yes i have activesync set up with the phone and pc, but when i put the phone in bootloader mode and connect it the pc recognizes it but not activesync. is there another program i can unlock the phone with?

Do not worry about ActiveSync. While you are in bootloader, the device is not running WM, which is why your computer only sees it as a USB device. This is perfectly fine. ActiveSync will not recognize it.
Please, follow the instructions in my post for unlocking. Read it thoroughly and try to understand it, else you will end up bricking your device.
ok but when i begin the unlocking exe it tell me to connect the device to activesync, althought the only way activesync will notice it is if i take it out of bootmode. your help is appriciated

that is a message in the RUU. do not pay attention to it. good luck...
so i finally got the unlocker to start and it begins the ten minute process and stops then show a 262 error code ive done this over and over again
Let's go from the top. I just saw the message that you were talking about. The unlocker does ask for ActiveSync as you pointed out and it is asking you to connect the device to the computer. Then it asks for you to press any key when that is done. So, try that and you should see the word "initializing" with a dotted line getting longer for about 20 seconds. Do that.
The RUU will start up afterwards. The prompt will tell you that it is going to flash a new SPL, and if I am not mistaken that is where you are getting stuck.
Just out of curiosity, which version of the Vogue do you have? (Alltel, Bell, Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular)?
no internet

You downloaded a cab. Simply put it in your SD card and run it by tapping on it. Don't unzip it...
Unlocker is not 64 bit compatible... grrr....

Sense 2.5 help

Hey I would like to have sense 2.5 on my tilt too, but i really have no clue where to download it or start, help plz
I've read all the howtos and I tried flashing a 2.5 rom i found(i think its the right kind) and I keep getting error 262
Did you flash hardspl? What rom are you trying to flash? I suggest trying energy rom leo.
If by flash you mean download and run it on my computer then yes and the energy leo is the one i tried
When I click on the leo customRUU I get "windows cannot acces the specified path device of file. you may not have the appropriate permission to access this file "
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540
I alrdy read that a few times over
"Flashing via ActiveSync with USB Lead (thanks to OliNex)
1. Download HardSPL package from *HERE* and extract to an empty folder
2. Synch Phone with PC in Windows Mobile!!! It has to be connected to activesync or WMDC via USB cable and it must not be in Flight/Airplane mode (i.e. radio should be on)
3. NEW: Internet access is required as the program checks online for updates and license
4. Run Rhodium-HardSPL_V2_00R3.exe on PC, make sure it's launched from a local drive (not through network drive, etc.). XP requires Admin logon and Vista/Windows 7 will automatically prompt to allow it to run in Admin mode, allow it. If you get an AntiVirus warning please ignore it, it contains no harmful code (just used a packer to compress it)
5. Follow steps as prompted in the HardSPL program. If this is the first run of HardSPL on a device after Hard Reset, you must select Automatic Flash Mode (first button in Welcome Screen)
NOTE: You should usually go for Automatic Flash Mode. The Manual Flash option is only to be used as noted below and you must only attempt the Manual Mode option if Automatic Flash Mode or SSPL-Manual.exe already put device in black screen. Any other errors triggered while running in Autoflash Mode will have to be fixed as instructed in the error message.
6. It will ask you to wait while it prepares for the flashing, press OK
7. Now it should go through without any error messages, if one does pop up then follow the instructions included in the error text. If no specific instruction is shown then ask for help in the thread, but this should not ever occur (as this means a really fatal error occurred)
8. At this point the phone hopefully went to a black screen (reporting version as 1.01.C-SSPL only using "info 7" in mtty), this is the SSPL version, which is temporary. Then RUU will instantly launch
9. NOTE: When RUU says it will Hard Reset do not worry, it is not going to do that. Also when it says the flash will take 10 minutes ignore that, it will only take a minute or so
10. SPL flashes, device automatically reboots, job done"
So im here asking for help
did you download the package from "here" in the directions first and flash that before going onto a custom rom like nrg's?
yes i did.....
never ran into any problems myself so i dont know whats up but have you tried on another computer? flashed through sd card?

Ok, which device are trying to flash? Does tilt too mean "Tilt 2" or "tilt also"? If you are talking about a Tilt, you are in the wrong forum. This is Tilt 2 (Touch Pro 2/Rhodium).

Hello,
Here is guide to flash HTC Universal. Tested and used in Win XP.
Guide is from old version of xda-wiki.
Look for step 4.
Best Radio version for Me is 1.17.00
This works for when the Universal is in Bootloader and Windows Mobile.
1. First download the ROM you want to install.
2. Extract it to a folder (use winar or other extraction software).
3. There will be up to 3 ROMs in the package: ms_.nbf (Extended ROM), nk.nbf (OS ROM), radio_.nbf (Radio ROM)
4. Delete those which you don't want to install. (If you just want to upgrade the radio rom for instance delete ms_.nbf and nk.nbf and leave radio_.nbf.)
5. Download UniversalRUU.zip
6. Extract it and copy into that folder the nbf files you want to install.
7. Enter BootLoader mode by pressing and holding the power button and backlight button whilst performing a reset with the stylus.
8. Doubleclick ROMUpgradeUt.exe and follow the instructions
9. When the upgrade is finished pull out the USB cable from the Universal.
10. You will need to do a soft reset OR hard reset depending on the situation. (note: some say do a soft reset / others a hard reset .. possibly someone with more knowledge could correct me here, but until then it's best to investigate the matter for yourself on the forum.)
11. To do a hard reset (push the two menu buttons ("-") on the keyboard + the reset button at the same time (all of this three). Doing a hard reset will result in you losing all your installed apps and data so ensure you have a backup of everything first.) Everything should be fine from this time. You have to calibrate the screen and do some tutorial...
12. If after doing a hard reset you want your Universal not to install the extras from the Extended ROM wait untilsetup is complete and then do a softreset when the popup window appears (you have 3 seconds before it installs ExtendedROM)
Thanks)
That what I exactly needed
Tomorrow will be test day.
