It's in the settings on google voice website once you sign into your account. I had it for a couple months, and went back to normal voicemail for now.
Not what I meant actually. On Miri's WM 6.5, Sense 2.5 v15, go to settings>menu>all settings>personal>phone>services>select voicemail>select get settings> change number. -whew-!

It's from "129" and it says: "//WM:Sync:ev=MBU"
Any ideas?

I have the galaxy nexus on verizon and i can't seem to get the google voice to work on it. What I mean by that is that I use google voice for my voicemail. and right now i can't use it.
Wrong section.
However, you have to go to http://voice.google.com and setup voice mail there. Have to dial *73[GV#] (or similar) on your phone and set it to use GV as your VM provider. Works fine on my phone.
Then it must be your phone because Mine works PERFECT WITH ANY ROM

Can you be a little more specific about the issue?
If it's just setting up voicemail, go to voice.google.com on a computer, click your phone number, click the configure voicemail link next to the phone entry. It should show exactly what number to dial on your phone to set it up for GVoice.
And yes, this should be in the Q & A forum. Maybe a mod will be kind enough to move the thread for you...
I'm curious ad to how he posted here with only 8 posts?

in the past with my 6 other android phones. i could just go into my phone settings and switch from carrier voicemail to google voice and i would be able to get voicemail in text form and also it would be stored on my google voice account.
now i can't access my voicemail. and even if i go on google voice on my computer the voicemails don't show up in my inbox. i have had this phone since 12-15-2011 and that was the last day i got a voicemail on google voice. when i set this phone up i have not got a google voice mail anymore. I went through the same steps as all my other phones. but for some reason it must work differently with verizon.
i'm an android developer. why wouldn't i be able to post?
*72 worked. thanks everyone

Typically it won't let you post in the dev section until you have 10 posts (because of threads like this). You had 8 when you posted here.

If you're coming from Sprint, you have to manually configure the phone for Google Voice as a VM client. Sprint allows GV to be automatically configured when you sign on to GV with the phone. I'm not sure about T-Mobile or AT&T for configuring GV but ever since GV came out, you've had to manually configure it for Verizon.
Per Google Voice Help Center:
If you are having trouble configuring Google Voice as your voicemail service on Verizon you can make the switch manually by dialing these three activation codes:
*71[Your Google Voice number]
*90[Your Google Voice number]
*92[Your Google Voice number]

I've had issues using G.Voice phone calls on ICS til NOW! . I normally used Groove IP on Froyo and Gingerbread, but it doesn't work on ICS... so I was all like NOOOO then found a thread somewhere about an app called SipDroid and that it does what Groove does. I downloaded it and gave it a try and BAM! it works!! So give it a try, it should work for you too

Right out of the box?
AT&T needs to turn it on first.
Start app.
It will call your voice mail.
then enter pin.

Okay, so when I activate my device, do I need to call ATT to turn it on?
I thought its a paid feature? Just use Google Voice instead
Google Voice did not seem to be working on my phone. Anyone able to get it working on theirs, or is there some issue with Google Voice and the S3 for now?
AT&T Messages
you need to get AT&T Messages from the Google Play Store you will get all you message, Voicemail, and calls in one spot.
From the main/home screen go two screens to the left and click on the AT&T Messages icon. It will walk you through the setup as mentioned above. I believe it specifically states the service is free (as it should be).
Now my question is why didn't they put this on the main/home screen? Why not make it the default? Who wouldn't want VVM?

There is already a thread about google voice's voice mail. You just have to dial a number to activate it. On mine it still says Carrier Voice mail, but my missed calls actually go to google's voice mail.
I went to the Play Store and downloaded AT&T's Visual Voicemail app. That worked well.

OK so we have two choices for VVM. Does anyone have enough experience to compare the pros and cons of each?

Visual Voice mail is great for voice mail. Really nice app. Love it.
AT&T messages combines text, voice mail, ect. rendering your regular messaging app useless or getting double notifications, and you can't turn them off from the at&t app. (it is basically the devil. And I made just to disable it as soon as I got the phone.)
Just my .02

I'm pretty unimpressed with this. I don't know why, but it bugs me to have to manually type in my google VM number to each forward field.

that's why you call the # code.
art vvm app is OK, but Google voice has a cleaner look and operation. neither is intuitive to set up though so read the directions.
att messages is terrible and should be disabled or uninstalled or nuked from orbit.
No matter what I do I can't get att visual voicemail to work. The app tells me that it is has not received a response from att. I've called att and my account is set up correctly but the app still doesn't work so I just gave up and use YouMail.
Ok, I really want to use the latest roms but AT&T's visual voicemail program does not work on TW 4.1+ roms. Can anyone suggest other visual voicemail programs that are robust and clean? Don't want to use google voice. All suggestions are appreciated. And thanks!

I use Visual Voicemail everyday on TW 4.1.2
Edit: Think I read this wrong. You want an app to use on 4.2.2
Could always try Youmail. Why are you against Google Voice?

I'm on ATT and could never get Google voice to connect to my voice-mail provider. I've tried it on a couple different roms...same outcome. After being dissapointed so many times, I just gave up and stuck with the default. I used Youmail back when I had an iPhone and it worked great though; I'll have to give it a try.:good:

you need to speak with an at&t rep and have them change your forwarding number to your Google voice number. Just be up front, tell them that you want to use Google voice, they will take care of it. I've been using Google voice for my voice mail for over a year now...
Works great..never had an issue...

You can actually do this yourself. In your dialer, hit menu, then settings. Go to call forwarding, and set it as such:
Always forward - Disabled
The other 3 set your Google Voice number, as +1xxxxxxxxxx with xxxxxxxxxx as your phone number. No dashes, no spaces.
Alternatively, you can absolutely call AT&T for this.
Afterwards, set your voicemail to google voice (also in dialer settings) and set google voice to auto sync. Done.
Is anyone having issues getting Google Voice to work with their Note 4? I've never had an issue with it before... I've done the whole *71 (GV#), *90 (GV#), *92 (GV#). All after setting up the GV app...
I don't understand! I've done it several times now. But still when I call my number from a different phone, I just get a "We could not complete your call - please try again" after like 8 rings or whatever... No chance to leave VM. I don't get it....
I'm about to flip, so I thought I'd toss the question over to the best and brightest.
Thanks in advance for your help!
So I guess I'm the only one with this problem - haha.
Several views but no response means something. But not sure what it means yet.
I'm not having this problem. When i swapped out my sim card from my S5 after leaving best buy, all i did was download the GV app and set it up and thats it. Didn't dial any of the *71 or whatever. I'm receiving calls and voice mail.

Hey thanks for this! I actually figured out what happened..... (This is weird)
So I went to Google Voice (via chrome on my PC) and my old Google voice number wasn't showing up anymore. Like there was no Google voice number any longer. What I was entering was my "Google Voice ACCESS number". So naturally it wasn't working and frankly for whatever reason, I had no actual Google Voice number to tie to anyway.
So I got a new Google Voice number and then used that instead, and all worked perfectly. (Although it rang too many times that way).
So cue your suggestion and now it goes straight to the Google Voice voice-mail the second it forwards. So now it works and I have the right number of rings.
I have no idea why my old number disappeared. Especially when it was working on my Note 3 just days before... Oh well. Works now!
weird thing is i can't do the *71 to enable it on my phone anymore. says, welcome to verizon, your call cannot be completed as dialed. so call forwarding is completely broken on my line now lol
