I have a german T-Mobile MDA Pro with the official T-Mobile AKU 2.0 from May 2006. Is there any stable upgrade I could apply to my MDA? Maybe T-Mobile released something officially? I read that there are already Windows Mobile 5 AKU 3.0 and later floating floating around for other brands? Where is the one for MDA Pro?

I am currently using the Helmi’s AKU 3.5. If you are new in ROM upgrades, you may choose the Helmi’s AKU 3.3 which is more reliable.
Bdw. MDA PRO is base on HTC Universal (that is the production name)

Agree.
Me using Helmi_c Aku3.5 v1.3 too. Performance is great except no speedial!
Also think Helmi_c Aku3.3 v1.2 is the best ROM so far except for not having Windows Live.
Works better with Radio 1.14.10, but depend of your network provider.
What is Radio 1.14.10 ?
And what do you mean with Windows Live? Does some Microsoft AKU contain already some windows live services that where promised for "crossbow" (WM6.0)? What are those? Or is this some ugly homwbrew hack?
errr... , long story, please read,

Helmi_c Aku3.3 v1.2 works better with "Radio ROM" ? Can you explain what a radio ROM is for (as opposed to a normal ROM such as Helmi's ROM" ?

I suggest you go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286036 and download the Helmi aku3.5 v1.3. -Its very reliable and considerably faster than what you will have installed already. I strongly recommend that you back up to MS OUTLOOK before updating if you dont wish to lose your calander events or contacts.
To answer your question, the so-called 'Radio ROM' is actually an update of the mobile phone (aka radio) firmware. Helmi's package includes a previous radio firmware version which is fine. The package also includes the latest available firmware upgrade (or AKU) of the Windows Mobile 5 operating system. This firmware upgrade of the OS is not yet officially released by MS, but has leaked and has since been tweaked by such jolly fine chaps as Helmi.
By the way, you'll be quite confused by the mixed use of ROM, extended ROM, hard/cold boot, etc (eg. everyone knows that ROM = 'Read Only Memory' and that the AKU and RADIO upgrades are actually written to EEPROM or equivalent memory type). Dont worry too much about it though, the lingua franca grows on you and the support from the community is excellent
Go ahead and try to update your universal after backing it up.
Your next post should be either "WOW, thats much better!!" or "CRAP, how do I get the damned thing to update??!!"
before I actually go for an upgrade I still have some worries:
1. won't I loose the german language on my phone (keyboard, äöü, T9, UI Language) ?
2. on some screenshots I have seen a "3G" Icon, but in germany it is UMTS and I want to keep the U Icon
3. When upgrading the Radio ROM, will everything still work fine with the operator T-Mobile such as MobileTV, streaming, MMS, Videophonie or this automatic image compression service offered by t-mobile germany (automatically compresses all images on websites to save traffic).
Just to make you feel safe, you can go to your T-Mobile website, download your current ROM from there.
So even how good the new ROM is, if you do not like it, flash back the old one.
can anybody answer my 3 questions ?

There is NO official AKU 3 out yet for the Universal. I don't think there will ever be. ALL the AKU 3 you see here are made by members and any Universal device can use them.

bitbonk,
As mentioned there is no official AKU 3.X for Universal.
AKU 3.X ROM’s that you find here are tailored to functionality by some brilliant guys in this forum. Indeed those are generally in English.
However if you choose to use them you will lose your German language but you may able to find batches that allows you to reconfigure. I do also believe your specific T-mobile related functionality will be lost.
in case your decide to give a try for one this available ROM’s then as CWKJ has suggested you can download you current original ROM from T-Mobil for back up
However please take NOTE this forum is for guys they like to test and develop.
I think I am using my universal more for upgrading and testing some ROM’s rather for daily usage. Therefore if you decide start to use one of this ROM’s be prepared to be infected with “XDA developers Virus”. This Virus is not infecting your device but its effecting you live
This will lead you spending most of your free time in this forum and on your device.
Instead bringing news paper to “rest room” you will bring your Universal.
If anyone tries to call you on your device, they will be not able to contact you as device docked on your computer for ROM upgrade or trying any reg. code.
Your Girlfriend/wife will start to complain: “I wish you would love me same as you loving your Universal”
So bro think carefully on what you decide :0)
LOL !!! ...
Good one.
I am trying to get my other half to be infected too.
Read somewhere in this forum, cannot remember which thread, a guy say his girlfriend complaint that he is doing too much ROM. Some other guys in this forum suggest him to give his girlfiend some RAM before continue with his ROM.
LOL !!! ...
So much of joke aside.
This are all self cooked ROMs. Our hardware maker for $ making seek unlikely to give any of us any update (only once in April 06).
1. You will lose the German Language as this is a WWE (World Wide English) ROM. But you can make a search in this forum for a forumer by name Asukal who is an expert in language. You should find some language patch (for read & write) to make up for the missing German Language.
2. "3G" is a "display only bug" in the Aku3.x which should be "U" for Voice service. For Web browsing service or Video, etc, instead seeing "U", you see "G" (a bug too).
3. UMTS/3G using this ROM with Radio image (any version, but latest official T-Mobile is version 1.13.00 and some test version 1.14.10 which seems to work pretty well with this Helmi_c Aku3.5 V1.3) have no problem with Voice Call, SMS, MMS, Video Call, Web browsing, etc. Other T-Mobile specific service (MobileTV, streaming, image compression), I think it should be in your Extended Rom, not Radio. You can just flash nk.nbf (Aku part) and Radio_.nbf (radio part) and do not flash the ms_.nbf (extended rom part).
Lastly, only after flashing, you will get all your questions answer until the day you try it.
Before flashing, backup your T-Mobile splash screen (if any) because splash screen of Helmi's ROM is O2, Indra's is imate, the other 2 I have not tried.
Remember to use MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe, (do not use ROMUpgradeUt.exe), to flash.
Good luck.
thank you for your help.
So maybe there is a e preconfigured ROM/radio upgrade (AKU 3.x) with german language floating around that is known to work well with german t-mobile ? Any german t-mobilers around here?
Why not go into the helmi thread and ask if someone has a compatible german language patch? You can probably set up the T Mobile stuff manually....

Thank you so much for the update, I have been looking at the Rogers website a while now looking for it.
Just completed the update. Went from HTC WM6 to this one. This version seems to have a lot more free memory and includes office mobile in the rom.
I am about to try switching from the HTC Generic WM6 ROM to the Rogers ROM as well hopefully it will fix the name display issue for me.
Woooo...maybe I should flash the "Offical" version from Rogers
Damn and I spent so much time flashing the HTC rom... any thoughts so far from this rom?

Just finished the upgrade from the Generic HTC WM6 ROM to the Rogers WM6 ROM. I have not yet bogged it down with all of my 3rd party apps but my general impression is that it seems much faster and responsive. I will update after all of my apps are re-loaded.
Definitely much faster and more memory available then the generic HTC ROM. My one wish is that I could have the Generic Comm Manager background back. The Rogers one is an ugly Blue with Yellow and Red Highlighting.
Hmm, this only work with Rogers?
Can someone post the Radio Version of this Rogers' WM6 update. TIA!

You can try using SDA ApplicationUnlock by installing this Cab file from Rogers. After installing the Cab file run the app unlocker and reboot your phone. Your phone should now be fully application unlocked

I definately prefer the Rogers WM6 ROM to the Generic HTC WM6 ROM. IT is much faster and more responsive plus it has more memory available. The only thing I don't like is the rogers branded startup and shutdown other than that this ROM seems much less bloated.
The Rogers WM6 does perform much better. IE doesn't use/leak as much memory. Does anybody know how to make a custom CAB file with registry settings and other preferences? I enjoy flashing a new OS on my phone daily, but it's the post-configuration stuff that's slowing me down.
I lost my data due to a crash. I need the Official ROM for the AT&T 8525. They only posted it on the HTC web site for a little while (why, I don't know?)
It is:
ROM version 3.62.502.3
ROM date 10/11/07
Radio version 1.54.07.00
Protocol version 32.86u.7020.23H
I live in USA and have an English phone, AT&T is my carrier.
Would someone kindly point me to a download link for this if it's available somewhere?
I've searched here a lot, but can't discern between all the new third party ROMs. I haven't done any hacking to my AT&T, just need the original WM Pro 6 ROM.
thanks,
Charlie

Ok, I think this maybe the one you are looking for: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316726&page=29
This thread does talk about the official HTC ROM update, but it doesn't have any working links. Several links there (like to HTC's web site) don't work. I remember HTC saying that the download of this new Windows Mobile 6 ROM for the 8525 would only be available until Feb. 08... Would someone have it somewhere that they could please upload somehow?
Many Thanks!
Edited: the next post has the factory 6.0 ATT rom..
I just needed this due to a hard reset from Faria-R32. I've flashed AT&T 3.62
http://download.america.htc.com/RUU...502.3_6275_1.54.07.00_108_UOOS_SVN05_Ship.exe with radio 1.54.07 as some have indicated that it's a good way to avoid the HR problem on the new WM6.1 roms that have been coming out.

I have essentially bad luck buying these phones. On my blackstone, i was able to work around it using USPL. Now, the rhodium i have, it's S/N doesn't work on any of the HTC download pages
i need help with diffusing the bootloader screen. What should i use to upgrade this phone to WM 6.5? I got the official rom from HTC in the end but can't use that cause i get "invalid vendor id".
Bootloader screen details:
Code:
RHOD100 32M SS-BC
SPL-0.79.0000
MicroP-Rhodium (LED) vA
MicroP-Rhodium (KEY) v4
TURBO HW/TURBO SW
TP MFG DATA
509,527 807,841
815,194 207,200
212,840 Calibrated
Why don't you just HardSPL and skip the s/n number hassle? You can still flash official ROMs with HardSPL, but you don't have to worry about which variant of the Rhodium the official ROM was made for (with the exception of the Russian ROM because of the region locking used). You can flash the stock HTC 6.5 ROM when you're HardSPLed or use one of the many excellent cooked ROMs this forum has to offer.

note: the phone is the 3g version
Where did you buy it from? try the HTC site from where you bought it from not where you are now, if no luck than you have to HARDSpl it, .. and BTW .. if you HARDSpl and installed an official ROM, the phone will be relocked to my knowledge (i.e. it is like you never HARDSpl after you install the official ROM)

Can you do something for us? Pull out the battery and look closely under where the battery was for the text RHODXXX, where XXX is a number like 100. Post that number here, and we can figure out what model of Rhodium you have, since there is no "3G Rhodium" model. It only really depends whether you have a CDMA-GSM hybrid or GSM only device, since HardSPL (if you want to use it) differs in versions based on that alone. The link I provided earlier in this thread holds all the information you'll need to know about HardSPLing your device (once again, only if you choose to do so). At least knowing your model number will let you know which HTC official ROM to download.
has this line under the BT symbol: HTC Touch Pro2 T7373 RHOD100
the phone connects to the optus 3G network. it has the HSPDA icon when your browsing on the net
Nice to see a fellow Aussie around. As far as I now there are two versions of the Rhodium floating around in Oz. Only one of which has an official WM 6.5 rom on the HTC website. The NextG 850mHz compatible model is still waiting for an official 6.5 rom to be released but Telstra and HTC are apparently working on it.
From the HTC website:
An updated ROM is now available for HTC Touch Pro2 users to download. As always, HTC is committed to providing customers with the best possible mobile experience. Please note that there are two versions of Touch Pro2 in Australia, and this ROM update is suitable for phones operating on the 900/2100 MHz network. ROM update for phones on the Next G network will be available soon.

Those are the same thing, you can't install WM6.5 without flashing the whole ROM.
You want the first link you posted, if you want the latest update. The second link you posted is from 2009.
So from the ROM update from the 1st link it will also install Windows 6.5 on my mobile? or it will just update the ROM?
Updating the ROM is flashing Windows Mobile to your phone. Windows is not installed like it is on your PC to a hard-drive. It is 'flashed' into the ROM of your phone (along with other useful Apps and drivers). Flashing a different ROM will give you a different version or flavour of WM. (TP2 can run WM6.1, WM6.5 or WM6.5.x).
Who is your carrier? I know that T-Mobile has an official Windows Mobile v6.5 ROM available for their T-Mobile branded phones. So you may want to check with your carrier to see if they have one for you.
I did try the official Windows Mobile v6.5 ROM from T-Mobile and it was OK. But I had already been trying out various WM 6.5.x ROMs off of XDA before I tried out their official ROM.
To try out a customized ROM from here you'll have to do a few things first. If you are using a GSM TP2 (ATT, T-Mobile, etc) I'd advise going to the Touch Pro 2 Windows Mobile ROM Development page and read through a few posts first, specifically the thread Flashing your first GSM Rhodium ROM (for Noobs).
If you are using a CDMA TP2 (Verizon, Sprint) I'd recommend going to the Touch Pro 2 CDMA page for threads about ROMs for the CDMA TP2 and then reading the thread RhodiumW Hard-SPL Release.
Then don't hesitate to ask questions. There are plenty of people here on these forums that are willing to help.
As stated before this is very dependent on the type of device which you own so be careful when doing so. If you have a GSM (Att/T-mobile) device look in the upgrades section for that if you have a CDMA device (Sprint/Verizon) look in the upgrades section there. Read how to unlock and then you can flash a 6.5 or even 6.5.x ROM which is the latest in windows mobile. Be aware that flashing a ROM will wipe all your data it is not a simple upgrade procedure, you will need to get all your contacts, settings, apps, etc back on your device on your own so make sure you backup everything beforehand.
Hello
This is my first post so hope I am not out of line replying here.
I recently received my TP2 with Windows 6.1 with ROM version of 1.19.702.2 Date: 06/22/09. Also from Hong Kong.
I am thankful to find this thread and the great info here. But I have a similar situation with some additional questions.
Do I post the questions here?
If you want a stock windows without void warranty, you can from official website HTC download actuall ROM. You must write there you P/N so they know if the upgrade is for your TP2. If not, change country at their site and try again till you find the right ROM.
Example: i could not download till i didnt change country to czech republic.
If you dont mind to void warranty, go to developing section
