I say TOuch pro 2 because it has a keybaord, a bigger screen, dual speakers, dual mics, and im not sure but I think it might have one sensor thing for detecxting something that the diamond doesn't but im not sure if it does or what the sensor thing does lol but yeah I think the touch pro 2 is alot better
I say TP2 because of the slightly bigger screen, but it comes down to what is important to you.
I am this close to going with the diamond2 myself because it doesn't have a hardware keyboard, and I'm an oddity in that regard. I think hw keyboards add bulk and cost but not value.
It also seems like the diamond2 will not come to my carrier, and in the end I decided I wanted the larger screen more than I did not want the keyboard. The other stuff (dual speakers, proximity sensor, yada yada) are pretty much useless to me, but I want the screen. I have a vague hope that before I buy the TP 2 I'll find out that Sprint is going to offer a phone with the TP2's screen size and no keyboard. Then I'll have a great phone.
TP2. the bigger screen, dual speaker, smarttalk, and slide out keyboard make it more attractive than the TD2. sure, the TD2 has a 5 mp camera, but that's just a small thing. (at least it is to me )

i'd go with td2. i honestly dont know of a situation where i will really need to have a speaker better than just the regular phone speaker. screen is bigger, but theyre both big compared to regular diamond. i take more pics with my fone so im going with the better camera.

the two speaker technology is called smarttalk I think. It guess it's supposed make the speaker phone volume a lot louder. and the music volume too!!! I'm hoping that they'll decide to put a 3.5 mm headphone jack on it!!!

think about it- better screen, a full tilting qwerty keyboard, and higher quality sound- it seems worth it, 150 more, but they shouldnt have taken off the 5 megapixel camera, but 690 is really high thought but it should be alot cheaper with a new contract I am thinking

I'd say Touch Pro2 was way better than TD2 a couple of weeks ago, until HTCs removed FM-radio from the former .

IT'S hard to decide... HD... TD2... or TD Pro... Radio or no Radio... Keyboard or not ... Larger screen or not... 3.5mm or USB... I already own an HD and it's brilliant, the TD2 only wins with it's native TFlo version 2 but developers here can sort that out with no problems. I love th bigger screen and the 3.5mm jack (i can listen to music or watch a movie while charging my phone ) I am wondering if i should go for the TP2, but it's really missing a Radio and a 3.5mm jack (which I will miss when my battery is low)... then again, the TV out is pretty tempting... IT's hard to decide...
Received my TP2 a few days ago, and here are some initial impressions:
GOOD:
- Good form factor; it's thicker than my HD but I find slightly thicker phones more comfortable to hold when talking rather than really thin phones.
- Beautiful screen and very responsive
- immensely improved TouchFlo...HD's touchflo was slow and not very useful, but I've actually been using the TP2's TouchFlo happily...no plans on installing MobileShell, which is something I did not expect!
- Fast...definitely much faster than the HD, and overall usability is way up (having said that, I felt the HD was perfectly usable as well in terms of speed)
- stable; no crashes yet
- web browsing; faster web browsing I've done on a WM device yet
- keyboard; nice and big and quite easy to use (although I suspect it might actually be TOO spacious for people with smaller hands)
- very good speaker and speakerphone
- excellent reception
- Chinese language support; the Hong Kong English version of the TP2 (my unit) now comes pre-loaded with Chinese recognition and input, while keeping the OS in English. I have been hoping to have this functionality for eons...
- overall build quality (minus the poorer tolerance of the screen fit; see below)
BAD:
- Heavy. It has overall larger dimensions so it doesn't feel like a brick like the original TP, but make no mistake this is not a light phone.
- gap, slightly poor tolerance in the flip out mechanism of the screen; when actually popped out and flipped, the hinge feels fine so far. It's when the screen is closed that you can sense the slight gap (as mentioned on the forum). So when I tap on the screen or type, you can sense the slight movement of the screen being pushed down. I actually thought it was the vibration feedback at first, but then realized that is was the screen's give. This could definitely annoy those who insist on excellent fit - but I don't mind so much because the fit of the rest of the unit is great, and I actually kind of like how it's almost like haptic feedback as I tap the screen. Having said that, HTC should've paid more attention to the design as the slight play with the screen really doesn't match with the rest of the phone...which is really an excellent piece of hardware and software.

- buttons; not really bad, but given that there seems to be some extra real estate at the bottom of the unit, the buttons could have been larger. Feedback on the buttons are very good though, and MUCH better than the touch style buttons on the HD.
- in call volume still not quite as loud as I'd like.
- TouchFlo very memory intensive compared to previous versions. On the HD, the memory usage usually hovered around 43% without any running programs. On the TP2, the memory usage is generally around 63%. I haven't had any issues with slowdowns, but that's a 20% increase, which is a bit surprising. Having said that, it has not impacted the speed or running of programs for me at all so it's just something that's annoying to know, that's all.
Overall, you could probably guess that my impression with the TP2 is extremely positive. I've used so many WM phones in the past, and was ready to give up completely on the OS until the Touch HD (I could not believe how stable and usable it was after pulling half my hair out with previous WM phones including the Omnia). I was planning to play around with it and then give it away, but ended up keeping it. And now the TP2 is even better. As with a few other TP2 owners, my biggest question mark will be how the hinge holds up in the long run...a worry that really shouldn't be there for a TP2 owner given that one of the main features of the unit is the flip out keyboard. I guess time will tell. With interesting WM units on the horizon (such as the just announced Samsung Louvre), I have to say I only trust HTC's implementation - they've done the best job of overall engineering with the OS.
One question that I have for fellow TP2 owners...anyone know how to get AEButton to work with it? Can't seem to figure out which buttons are assigned to which...on the HD, the OK button referred to the back arrow button on the unit, but no so on the TP2. Would really like to get AEButton working.
Overall, TP2 along with the Nokia E71 (and HD to a an extent) has been the most pleasantly surprising phone I've used over the last year or so.

I picked mine up at Wilson in CWB. No plan or carrier, but it's "official" goods. I traded in my CSL Touch HD...had an unlimited data plan packaged with that.

It's interesting about people's expectations on this. I would have said, if anything, the opposite. Should be a standard on low-end phones. High-end phones should expect high-end solutions for audio, IMHO.

true but 3.5mm jack is universal & just an uppgrade in headphones can make all the difference.
I agree, with the 3.5mm being old tech but one thing tho, HTC's earphones don't really fit my ears that well. Keeps on falling off... LOL. If there were more USB earphones, then I am just as happy. I am sorry to say this but the iPod earphones fits me just fine.
I also like the ear bud style earphones or the B&O earphones, they are nice too .
Shame they don't do it with the USB plugs...

I see, I got mine from Voda-Smartone. unlimited internet browsing and 100mb Data. Traded my P3600i in (at last) and only paid $3900 HKD for the phone.
I am keeping my HD which is with CSL.
I thought this phone is gonna come out on CSL but it didn't. Never mind, CSL and Smartone is the same for me, same good receptions.
Did you get an english or chinese version? If you got a english version, do you write chinese? I notice my english version is able to read chinese characters but I can't transcribe chinese words. I hate using the keyboard to write chinese words.

English version...i never input chinese, so the new English OS is perfect for me as i only need to be able to read chinese characters as well.

What about GPS? What software do you use? Papago or Mapking? Never used it on HD as softwares before weren't compatible with the WVGA screen. Have you installed any?

I suggest you to change another one. I've tried several TP2 in shop and some of them have a larger gap than the others. Finally, I picked up a TP2 with a small gap only and didn't notice any (slight) movement when I push the screen/hardware buttons.
I have been thinking about a "fix" to tighten up the phone when closed. The plastic strips on the sides of the keyboard could be a little thicker, and this would tighten up the structure?
Then how much extra have you paid? I'm thinking getting one to replace my X01HT though still in very good condition after two years service. Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion, i know what you mean that some units have more of a gap than other models.
Having said that, I'm embarassed to say the gap on my machine isn't that bad...the movement I felt really WAS the haptic feedback...apparently even if you turn it off from TouchFlo, the vibra feedback still applies when I'm using Opera. Not sure if it's a glitch, but that's actually what it happening.

The price is standard at Wilson, how much you can get for trade in will depend on the condition of your trade-in unit.

yeah, i know what you mean...i have tons of programs on my TP2 that I never use but it's nice to have...
I've only been using Google Maps. I don't think Mapking is compatiible still...have yet to find a good GPS solution that I like.
I don't think I could trade in my X01HT. I just want to know the trade-in difference between HD and TP2. Thanks.

I have been using google maps as well, but shame there is no voice directions. I have read some users have installed MapKing R12 and it works on the HD. But just looks weird as the images get stretched.
Papago is meant to be good but haven't seen it in action before. Users on uwant.com said it works ok as well. I might check it out later.
I just tested the video capabilities and I am just amazed. I bought an 8GB Class 6 Transcend today at Wilson for under $190 HKD. Went home, inserted the card, transfered my Transformer movie xvid rip, dvd resolution. Played it on Coreplayer 1.3.2. WOW! No dropped frames, sharp pictures and all this without needing to re-encoding.
This upgrade is WELL WORTH IT from the HD. Although I still have the HD with me.

CorePlayer Mobile can play mkv, but not TP2 cannot play 720p files properly. Further, it is all a function of the bitrate of the movie.

Practical optimum resolution and bitrate for playback with CorePlayer 1.3 is 640x288 @ 1.6Mb/s for H.264 without major frame dropping. For DivX 720x322 @ 2.0Mb/s.
I am a Kaiser user thinking of upgrading to the Rhodium, but one of my critical upgrade requirements is to have a better screen than the one that came with the Kaiser. I am NOT talking about screen resolution (I already know that the Rhodium has higher resolution). I am talking about the light reflection properties.
The screen that comes with the Kaiser can be seen clearly when indoors, but it is impossible to see when you are outside. It reflects too much light. Other phones (for example on some of the latest Blackberries) have screens that can be seen PERFECTLY both indoors and outdoors.
Can somebody please tell me whether the outdoor reflection problems with the Kaiser are solved on the Rhodium?
I have a kaiser as well and tp2 is far better outdoor. The ambient light sensor and auto backlight adjustements really help...

I noticed you are from the UK. Have you tested it on a really sunny day? Because I am pretty sure that the results will be different on dark rainy day (like you have in London regularly...I am from the Netherlands, so its not much different) than on a sunny bright day.

I'm from Israel, and upgraded my Kaiser for a TP2 a few weeks ago. Indeed the screen is much better, even outdoors on sunny summer days (LOTS of sun here. ).
It's still not perfect (what can ever be?), but the light sensor does help and if you choose your backgrounds well, it's great. I can use the phone without having to guess where things are (as I had to do with the Kaiser) and on the black on white background screens (emails, text, ...) it's even better.
I use it for turn-by-turn navigation on the car and it's good too, although the silver frame sometimes reflects the sun and it's a bit annoying, but it doesn't interfere with screen reading in any way.
I'm really happy with the upgrade and think the TP2 is the best phone out there by far.

I'm hoping someone makes an anti-glare screen protector for the TMoUS TP2 soon.

once they make it, and I'm sure they will, get a boxwave antiglare protector. I use them on all mydevices dating back to my original sony clie and swear by them. Problem solved.
The screen is not very good outdoors in sunlight or in shade. It is too hard to see. I am a BlackBerry user and can always see my Bold and 8900 in the car but I cannot safely even attempt to use the Touch Pro 2.

I can't understand why a company like HTC would release a brand new model of the Kaiser (now called Rhodium), and not fix the critical issues of its predecessor. The latest versions of the Blackberries work very well outdoors. I had a curve model 8900. It was not a touch sensitive screen, so I don't know if that could make the difference. Perhaps somebody with an iPhone or another touch screen device can tell us if they work well outdoors.
As a previous Kaiser Owner, and living in the sunny UK
The Screen of the TP2 is much better outdoors, the Kaiser was very bad for anything outdoors... GPS etc etc...

Thanks for all the replies. It seems that most of you feel that there is definitely and improvement in the Rhodium screen characteristics which makes it useful when operating out in the open sky. That's definitely a plus point that is leaning me towards upgrading.
The other thing that I want to check before deciding whether this is a worthwhile upgrade for me is the video acceleration.
Could those of you who answered this thread go to the following one and tell us about your video acceleration.? As you provably know the Kaiser (ATT Tilt / TyTn II) has capable chips, but no drivers for proper acceleration and the video playback, games playback and others suffers as a result. I am wondering if the Rhodium comes with the right drivers to operate the video chips, and how the video performance compares to other devices out there. The Kaiser underperformed even really cheap phones, so hence my concern.

if you actually use the kaiser light to the highest! while outdoor, you should have a better view then say using the TP2. I was with my wife, and I gave her my tilt, until I get the tmobile agree to sign a new contract for mytouch 3g since I already have five lines...on a family plain. when I noticed her phone was bright I was like let me check mine, and I couldn't see....I think tilt is a cool phone even after two years....you know you better keep tilt if you don't need to upgrade...PS my TP2 was on auto light!
Iphone 2g is not very good in the sunlight, neither is the TP2 or the T-mobile google phones, either one. The BB 8900 is very usable in direct sunlight. Of the phones mentioned I'd have to say that the TP2 screen is the least legible in sunlight. That's the way it seems to go with cell phones, unfortunately they all have their own strengths and weaknesses.

Quite surprised to read your statement recommending us to keep the Tilt instead of upgrading. I like it when somebody takes a bold stance like this one; but I would appreciate it if you could elaborate a bit more on your recommendation.
I live in Portugal and in the summer i have to go into shade to see my screen, but as another poster noted, I've never had any colour screen PDA or phone work. The only screen I know here that really works was a friends Motorola with what appeared to be an e-ink screen (black and white, looked like print).

Is that your experience with the Rhodium or with the Kaiser?
I guess I have been spoiled! I had a Blackberry Curve 8900 and I could use it as a GPS outdoors without ANY problems what-so-ever with regards to seeing the screen even in bright daylight, without shade, etc.
The Blackberry Curve 8900 does not have a touch screen though. So perhaps the touch screen technology isn't 'sun and sky' compatible. Does anybody have experience using the new models of the iphone outdoors? I don't want an iphone, but I am curious to know if that touch screen technology suffers from the same problems as the Kaiser and Rhorium
I have a Kaiser and TP2 if much better. Go for it.
I purchased a Rhodium (Att Tilt 2) and I am very happy with it. The screen quality is a huge improvement. It reads well outside, reacts well, etc. My only complaint is that I miss the up/down/right/left/center 'joystick' like keys on the Kaiser.

It all depends on what you want from a phone. The LG has a full keyboard, The Surround has a sliding speaker system and the Focus would be your average modern smart phone. Personally I chose the Focus because of the 4" amoled display and expandable storage.

I totaly agree the focus is the way to go i have 40 gb storage and the os is so much smoother than the rest and the interface makes ios and android look very old. I compaired my focus to my sons iphione4 last night and the iphone 4 side by side was no comparrison from the apps, to the lock screen, intergration, to the homescreen. or even something as simple as answering or rejecting a call from the lockscreen... since people are always complaing about what should be in a os in these days being able to reject a call from lockscreen is one of the most basic and til this day ios still cannot do it... I never heard anyone complaining about this??
I bought the Surround. It was more of personal preference about the look and feel of the device. To me, the Surround looked and felt better.. i liked the soft touch back and the solid heavy feel, and really consider the speaker as just a bonus feature as it only adds 1mm of thickness compared to the identical HTC Trophy. The Focus' Super AMOLED screen was amazing, but I didnt like the glossy plastic look. Its all personal preference and what you are looking for in a phone.
I'd agree with Ren13B. If you need a work phone and plan to write 50+ emails (or you are a teenager and need to send 100+ texts) a day, LG would be a better buy for the keyboard.
If you need a better speakerphone or speakers and don't mind a little bulk, Surround is the one. Also, I have seen Surround going for less at Amazon and Newegg so that's another reason.
For everything else, Focus seems to be the best fit.

that would be a true statement if this was the keyboard of wimdows 6.5 or anything less than wp7 the on screen keyboard is simply unbleavable with its auto correct feature and a 4inch screen you can type as fast if not faster that any hw keyboard... it works that well...
Chose Focus due to memory expansion, screen, and size/quality.
It is interesting to note that, unlike iMapple, the WP7 seems to all have great reception. Have noticed the Samsung Focus has better cell reception than the HTC Fuze and various other HTC/Motorola phones from the past.

-better build quality

-kickstand is nice to have when watching netflix (lol)
-I like HTC over samsung
-Samsung focus felt too flimsy and cheap for me
-Samsung scared me after some of the issues of the captivate (im sure samsung and windows did a better job on the focus, this is just how i feel)
on the other hand though,
SAMOLED is nice, and I do miss, but at the same time the LCD of the Surround is good, but the main thing you are missing is not screen quality, but battery life. I havent had a chance to put my battery to the test, but im sure SAMOLED will trump the HTCs LCD.
The "best" on, of course, depends on what you want from your phone. Personally, I've been burned by lousy hardware from HTC and LG before (several times) and I'm a big Slingplayer user so the large screen, light weight and slim design of the Samsung Focus appealed to me. The other two have are stronger in other areas. Check the specs of each and/or go play with them at an AT&T and decide for yourself.

I don't know if the kb on the 4" Focus screen will make a significant difference or not, I can say I type faster hands down on my Fuze than my iPhone, which according to some have the best on-screen kb.
I have seen videos of people typing insanely fast on iPhone but I think they'd be even faster on a good h/w keyboard like Fuze.

For long sessions of browsing webpages with white background or emails, there is no doubt AMOLED screen of Focus will drain the battery faster. I wonder if there will be a way in future to change the background/foreground of the browser / email client inWP7.
I know I'm not the only one thinking this, but looks like I'm the only one who has the courage to admit this:
I thought that people who were calling this device a developer phone were exagerating.... Before buying it I was thinking: "Come on, those adds google put on youtube about the gnex are definitely not targeted towards developers"
I thought: "Wow a phone with stock android, future updates ensured, and those high end specs!..... Bought"
The thing is that hardware wise this device sucks.
And I'm not talking about the CPU and the ram (that's the hardware that matters for the developers, and the nexus is fast, we know it).
But i'm talking about the important hardware! The one that matters on a smartphone for normal people like me.

ANTENNAS (GPS, WIFI, CELLULAR): while on my gsm galaxy nexus the 2g and 3g antennas are quite decent ( still not comparable to Motorolas or Nokia though) The Wi-Fi and the GPS are super weak in comparison to even low end smartphones made by Nokia Moto or Htc.
DISPLAY: worst 720p screen on a smartphone ever. First being a pentile display, ON YOUR EYES it's not a true 720p. Take a look to an IPS 720p display, THAT is sharpness. Though on paper it is 720p, so its perfect for developers who need to test apps on 720p screen. White color tone usually looks perfectly white on every phone, until you compare it to another phone side by side that has better whites. On the galaxy nexus you find yourself constantly thinking that what you are looking at, is not pure while.
SPEAKER: probably a very cheap speaker, just like all the "hidden parts" on this phone and all the hidden parts on Samsung phones in general. Don't ever compare it to a Nokia side by side or you'll cry.
(Why is the volume so lower on notifications and on YouTube? LOL Google)
VIBRATION: if you are used to the amazing vibration feedback that Nokia and HTC devices give you, hearing and feeling the galaxy nexus vibrate will be a pain. It just looks like Samsung didn't spend a penny on the vibration system on this device.
[Small story: I had a GS2 some months ago, one day I came back home and threw it on the bed, it did even had a case on... From that day the vibration became much weaker, almost nonexisting]... just for the lols
That said let's come to the part where we all agree:
Stock android is awesome and developers are probably having a much easier time working with this device
Its also really cheap now. Let's not forget that.
my quick thoughts:
BUILD QUALITY: this category will always be subject to personal preference
ANTENNAS (GPS, WIFI, CELLULAR): I don't get the same strength as with the Razr HD on Verizon, but no drops and data is still more than plentiful in speed
DISPLAY: I find it pretty sharp vs the S3 and some others, the whites are a little yellowy vs others but the blacks are way darker. So you have to pick do you want whites or blacks
SPEAKER: who uses the external speaker with all the bluetooth speakers/docks out there now?
VIBRATION: I like the vibration cuz this way when ur in class/work you feel it but can't hear it, hearing a phone vibrate defeats the purpose of having it on vibrate
I strongly disagree that HTC outperforms Samsung in terms of connectivity / signal strength. According to my (and many other users' ) experiences HTC devices used to have constant issues with WiFi, data signal drops etc something I've never experienced on my samsung devices. I find WiFi signal slightly weaker on Gnex than on my previous S2 or my brother's Droid RAZR but it's not a big deal since I've never experienced random connectivity drops. I do find lack of gorilla glass more irritating.
Comparing "new" IPS displays to our "old" SAMOLED it's little like comparing exynos 5 to our tiomap in terms of speed. (Anyway white will always look better on LCD screens while black on AMOLEDs.)
Before I bought Gnex I read a lot about very low max volume level, but to be honest I've never found it so low that I couldn't hear incoming notification or a phone cal.
this screen is awesome if you tweak it a little.... Reviews still praise the display to this day.
I personally love this phone, Go watch drop tests of the nexus vs. other phones and then come back and talk about build quality.
This is easily the best phone Ive ever owned, bar none. (and I am in no way a dev)
Phone is over a year old. What did you expect compared to newer models? It still holds fine. The build quality is a Sammy trademark.

OP, though I see where you're coming from. I personally wanted a Nexus solely for the massive dev community (and just to clarify, I'm not a dev, just a ROM flashing addict). Personally, I feel that getting a Nexus for other reasons (like hardware) is kind of missing the point...
Let's not forget the Gnex cost $350, and it's over a year old, and it's now out of production. Is a Porsche 911 comparable too and in the same class as a VW GTI? The Gnex at that price point was absolutely the best bang for your buck...shortcomings and all. What more could you ask for in a $350 phone? Well, time passes and the Nexus 4 arrived at the same price, so now we can come to expect more features and better hardware for the same price :victory:
Funny though your comparing to a company who are now struggling to be afloat , even going so much so as sleeping with there's once enemy Nokia's!

It cost $350 for the late adopters. I paid $560 and others paid even more.
I wouldn't recommend nexus for an average smartphone user. OEM flagships are imo definitely more suitable here, they offer more eye candy ui, and usually more customization and user friendly options (t9 dialer, regular toggles, more camera options etc). Nexus line with the most lightweight firmware is for those who know why they want it.

If you do not like the Gnex then go buy what is evident you really want, a Nokia or a Motorola. Everything you have just pointed out is opinion and nothing more. My mother doesn't know the first thing about anything tech, I build her computers for her and she loves her galaxy nexus, she has not a single complaint. I have many female friends that had iPhones that love how easy and smooth my phone runs as well. To say it's only for developers is ridiculous. What you should have done is called this thread "My rant about how Nokia, Motorola and HTC are better than Galaxy Nexus".
No offense but not one thing you have to say is based on fact. My phone has no issues with connectivity, whether it be data or wifi. My gps locks on instantly as long as I'm outside and within 10 seconds indoors. My screen is amazing, if you don't think this is 720p then you are blind (that's my opinion, not fact.). Vibration is no different than the last two HTC phones I owned, I have no problems with volume either. As someone already said, there is no reason to be using your device speakers for anything besides your ringtones and notifications in the age of Bluetooth.
Now onto build quality, you may personally want a oversized heavy lug of a phone but I love how lightweight and thin my Gnex is, I have not a single scratch on it nor a ding or dent and I do not use a screen protector or a case, this is coming from someone that keeps it in the same pocket as his car keys a lot of the time as well.
Now a lot of what I said is opinion as was what you said but out of the two of us, I at least point that out. You posted an entire comment speaking as though all these issues are fact and that this phone is only meant for developers, sorry man, I'm gonna have to go with "no" on both of those.
i dunno where to start man, are you trying to throw this thing against a brick wall? if they made it "tougher" people would complain that its too heavy. people (me included) like the thinness, it can go in my pocket without looking like a bannana or am i happy to see you joke. the build quality is fine, it feel like quality electronics but not tough enough to get run over by a bus. the speaker is fine, every music app has an eq, play musics eq works on the internal speaker and boosting the lower end clears up the tinny crappy tiny speaker sound pretty good. boohoo, pentile. the pentile argument is so overblown, my fascinate had a pentile screen and it looked amazing. i cant see any jagedness or pixels on my nexus, its plenty resolution. the radios are fine unless you live in the middle of nowhere (not bashing people who do) and if you do live in the sticks then why did you buy a phone knowing that it has a weak radio? you want a phone with loud vibration? get a rezound, jesus that things louder than the actual speaker in it. the point of vibrate is so you can feel it but dont hear it.

I agree with all of the above, I even stated most of the same things above you lol.
A lot of people forget that they can actually get apps that will increase vibration levels without even having to be rooted.

We may have argued in the past but this is a quality post and I fully agree
Since this phone receives a lot of support from devs, you'll have plenty of custom roms and mods to toy with. Everyone can flash a custom rom or mod if they read the instructions carefully, you don't need to be a dev to do that.
That awkward moment when you realize this device is a year old.
It was great for its time.
People still use the Nexus One.
I completely disagree with this thread because I had a One S before and I know that this phone is better.
You know, specs aren't everything.
It's your personal preference.
Their could be a device with amazing specs, but looks like a pile of ****.
Or vice versa.
In my opinion, this device wins in both.
You still get decent specs, a nice screen, and a beautiful slim phone.
If you don't like it buy a new one, simple.

Had my GNex for a year, switched to the Galaxy S3 for a month and came back to the GNex. Can't beat stock AOSP.
What version do you own?
I came from a CDMA Day 1 Toro. After a few months, I hated the phone with very much the same regard and issues you had. Then I got a GSM when I switched to T-Mobile.
I learned I had a dud in the Verizon version. The new GSM one is amazing, the screen is spectacular, the signal is strong and I cannot complain much about it. I prefer low vibration, I have my phone on silent or sound only.
Honestly the GSM Nexus is still one of the top performers of all time, it sits next to the iPhone 4 and Motorola Droid as the best/game changing smartphones of all time as well. The Galaxy Nexus became both a benchmark and a leaping off point for so many people, projects and development. True it has its issues, but when my Galaxy Nexus will out perform my Nexus 7 and a Galaxy S3 in normal day to day operation, it is a testimony to greatness.
