Hello,
I just wanted to know if skyfire will work on the htc touch hd. Has anyone managed to get it working on their Touch HD. I installed it but get the usual windows error message, i.e it doesn't work on mine. Does it work on yours?
If you do manage to get it working, can you please check if bbc iplayer works on it fully with sound. i read somewhere on this forum that they got it working on their Mobile device but bbc iplayers sound did not work. this will be the best browser to go on bbc iplayer and watch other videos.
Please someone reply.
p.s I got so happy that this will work on the HD, but it doesn't. apparently there isn't a skin that supports the HD's screen. here's the website: http://get.skyfire.com/
Windows Mobile phones: Skyfire runs on Microsoft Windows 5, 6, and 6.1. We support VGA and QVGA screen resolutions. Skyfire runs on many popular Windows Mobile phones including the HTC Tilt, HTC Touch Diamond, HTC Fuze, Motorola Q and Q9, Palm Pro, Palm 800W and Samsung Blackjack II. To check if your phone is compatible with our OS and resolution requirements, please refer to the Microsoft website.
Skyfire will not run on Windows Mobile PDAs. Skyfire runs on phones only.
Skyfire will not run on WVGA Windows Mobile phones.
Skyfire will run on Wi-Fi, however a data plan is recommended.

We must wait a fixed version ;-)
huh, when did they add vga compatibility?? I checked over a month ago and it ran like crap on my Diamond... now I sold the Diamond and got the HD, effectively pushing my self back in the waiting line
Use W VGA Fix 2
->> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442426
i've tried too but resolution of the the hd is bigger ...skyf for smaller rezs...
Current releases are not working with the HD... we have to wait, just that!
p.s: anyway this browser looks promising so much!
Many thanks! Works with W VGA FIX 2...
Although to switch back to regular resolution I found you have to use task manager to close the app and restart.
Doesn't work for me.
How did you get SkyFire to work on HD. Ive installed fix2 and the certificate that came with it. When I try to run SkyFire i just get..
'Skyfire only supports screen size widths/heights of 240,320,480 or 640.
Desperate to get iplayer, if not this solution then the other 'new' thread looks hopeful
Thanks you guys, I'm out of my depth but following your lead!
ashleyp,
install wvga fix 2 cab. That puts a new program in your program list. Find the program called VModeSwitch, run it and change screen res to 640x480. Then run skyfire.
Works many thanks
Now need to try iplayer when at home on my wifi network.

Confirmed that this works 100% perfectly using VModeSwitch.
However, VModeSwitch rotates the screen, you may not want this. I use AEButtonPlus and assigned a long press key to rotate the screen clockwise, in which case VModeSwitch becomes responsive again and I do not have to kill it in the task manager.
The problem is VModeSwitch does nothing until you switch out of it. If you don't want to use AEButton, simply press the home hardkey on your HD after switching resolution, because then the screen goes back to Manila which instantly forces the screen back into portrait mode (but still VGA res). After this, VModeSwitch will work again when you get it from the tasks window and your screen is portrait VGA after which skyfire works 100% perfect.
VGA resolution?
Does the latest Skyfire (with VGA support) actually run at full 640x480 resolution or is it just stretch the pixels for the HD, as though the HD were running at 320x240?
opera
tried it, i think i will just stick with Opera until they fix the vga problem.

Very wise.
I cant understand why people go to such trouble to get a browser to work.
some of us need to monitor pages which display info using fash, I think Skyfire is the only option, right?
Never heard of Flash Lite? Works with Opera and IMO Opera is the best browsing solution anyway. On the other hand Netfront 3.5 Concept works like a charm on the HD for pages that don't display correctly with Opera. Give it a shot, it's free
Okay, I've installed the adobe version for my HD... tell me why we need this horrible looking SkyFire then? I've uninstalled it and the other bits and peices I needed to make it work.

What have you installed?
Adobe version of what?
Can you please explain?
Thanks
Sorry, I went looking for Flash Lite and found a thread with 2 versions, Flash Lite (didn't work for me) and an adobe version of flash lite (I think) which worked. I can now see the flash content on my fantasy football page
I thought SkyFire was a horrible looking browser and just wondered why everyone wants it if Opera can show flash content?
To what extent does android (or at least the flavour on the Hero) support hardware accelerated 3d graphics? From reading the G1 forums I get the impression it is, but google has some dissenting voices. So, I wondered if anyone knew for definite?
Cheers.
[Meant this to be in Q&A, sorry- would someone move it?]
the hero has full Open GL ES 1.1 support which is basically a mobile version of the desktop OpenGL, the graphics chip isnt that powerful but enough for basic transparencies, and 3d acceleration, if you download the app Neocore off the android market, that will show you just how good the 3d is on the hero.
Impressive. Thanks very much!
Dear all,
I plan to purchase HTC HD2 for development. Could I kindly ask for help with the following, please:
Will it be possible to develop application on HTC HD2 usin OGL ES 2.0?
Will HD2 video driver support Open GL ES 2.0?
Is there already OpenGL ES 2.0 SDK available?
These answers are very important to me, and I bet not only for me. Any advice how to get the answer would be hepful as well.
Thanks a lot,
Rene
I'm having the same questions here. Any help?

Dear Chainfire,
Does it mean, that HD2 supports OGL ES 2.0 optimized drivers? I hear from all the sides, that Open GL applications on much slower than they really should, because of poor support in the Drivers.
Regards,
Rene
HD2 dos indeed support both GLv1 and GLv2 properly.
It is not so much that the drivers are badly optimized, they just have 2 major issues with them. One being a compatibility issue which can be equally blamed on as well game/app coders as HTC/Qualcomm, the other being a vicious bug that really needs fixing by HTC/Qualcomm. Aside from those two issues, the drivers are perfectly fine.
hi
last year i saw that there wasn't any version of opengl es for the artemis....
now is there any version?
nothing about the tf3d?
thanks
There is no 3D acceleration hardware on any of the Omap850 based devices. It will never happen because of the lack of hardware.
libGLES_CM OpenGLES wrapper works on the Artemis, of course it's software accelerated but seems at least as fast as GDI and can be used in managed code. I use it for 2D rendering in C# and it's good and portable between devices.
Forget about more complex 3D though.
i'm looking for openGL 2.0 for msm7200a QVGA wm6.5
is there any cab for it?
i need it for spb mobile shell 3.53 option and can not find such cab
10x 4 any help
Take a look at the two links in the following post (for improved OpenGL ES 1.x performance)
opengles on msm720x chipsets
This chipset supports OpenGL ES 1.x, i.e. no chance for 2.0!
