Desire availabilty in Hong Kong?

Is the HTC Desire available in HK. I will be there from 12-14th of April and Im really hoping to get it then. The legend is already available but no news about the Desire.

Not sure but try either the top floor (entry level) of Wan Chai Computer centre or the places around Sham Shui Po. If you have never bought electronics from HK, you need to be aware that there are two prices - one for HK stock (usually pricer) and the other for grey imports from China and Japan. Warranty coverage for the latter is done by the shop, so if you have a problem you will have to send it back to that shop. That being said, HTC probably wont provide warranty coverage outside of the country of purchase (according to one of the other threads).

Thanks for the advice. My iPhone was bought in Shenzhen so no worries about warranty. I have been coming to HK since last 7 years on business. Buying most of my gadgets there. I was only concerned regarding availability of the phone in HK as cant see it mentioned anywhere in any of the forums or Google.

I've checked out WanChai just last night actually and there's no sign of the Desire.
Good news is, because of the current favorable exchange rate with the GBP, you can just do what I do. Order overseas from Clove! I'm expecting mine to arrive in HK on Monday. And even with shipping, it's cheaper than it would be when it goes on sale in HK.

A friend was 4 days ago in HKG and he found it somewhere in Kowloon.

I will try to the same as I will be in Hong Kong a couple of days after you.
I have bought HTC devices several times in Hong Kong and never had any problems.
The computer stores in Wan Chai and Mongkok are your best bet. Look around though do a bit of bargaining.

I cant order it to HK as I will be there only for 3 days and also cant order to India as then too expensive after paying import taxes. N1 is around 4500HKD in Mong Kok if Desire is same price or lower it will be ideal. I will look around Mong Kok and Sham Shui PO. Also Kowloon ( Thanks to Atomicman). If found and bought I will inform on this forum immediately.

I've been looking around for the Desire in HK too, so far nothing. Most of the shops either say they don't know the release date, or "maybe next week", which is the typical answer when they have no idea.
The latest from the HK forums (using google translate) is that HTC HK has said they're not sure of an exact date, maybe in June. The consensus is that they want to give the Legend (out March 31st) some time to sell before releasing the Desire. I'm sure grey imports from the UK will start to show up soon, but at a premium.
Not sure if it'll be cheaper than the Nexus One, since you can get an N1 directly from Google for less than $4500, so their price in Mongkok just includes a small mark-up. The Legend is $4180, down to $3980 in some places, so I reckon the Desire will be at least $6-800 more than that to set it apart.
Based on all that info, I also ordered from Clove today.

Ordered on March 8. Already shipping. Expecting it on Monday.

So slim to zero chance of getting a desire in HK before 14th April? So what do you suggest I do buy the Legend or N1? Please advise as Im quite eager to buy an android phone now. I will be able to change it only after 6 months so have to live with whichever phone I buy till then.

Finally bought the Nexus One as couldn't find the desire and cant with for an android phone any longer. I'm in HK till 15th Morning so if any one knows of a definite place where desire is available here do let me know. I don't mind buying that as well. Can always sell my N1 on Ebay in India.

Well to TBH you can buy it at Clove at a cheaper price...but what happens if your phone breaks down ? You won't be buying a round trip ticket to UK to just fix your phone... (Rmb the warranty for HTC UK is 2 years !!)
They include a one time FREE deliver service to UK center to repair the machine...and afterwards they charge you $200 only.
Just like ordinary HKers time is important...hehe

That's a good price actually. If you consider the price difference between the Legend and Desire in UK and that the Legend's retail price in HK is 4199, I'd expect the Desire to cost about 4389.

That is a good price considering the phone isn't available in the usual shops in HK.
Regarding the warranty, according to the spec on Clove the phone comes with a 2 year International warranty, so if anything goes wrong you should be able to get HTC HK to take care of it, right?

Hello, I'm from Germany and I would advise your friend to preorder it to a German postal address (by Amazon.de or cyberport.de). I doubt that Vodafone or O2 or even big stores like Media Markt/Saturn have this device exactly on the date of release in stock.
Also, I would suggest him to be there a bit longer (talking about 2-3 days) than just until the 17th as there is no guarantee he'll have it in his hands on exactly this date.
If anyone else has another idea, go ahead. But this are my best 2 cents I have.

Tell your friend to look for "Vodafone" and "O2" Shops, they have been confirmed to carry the Galaxy Nexus during the UK launch of the Galaxy Note.
You might want to look for "Debitel" Shops also since you can already pre-order the Nexus there (for a good price: 530€).
But none of them said they would get the Galaxy Nexus on the 17th yet.

Mobilcom-debitel is also selling the Galaxy nexus without branding or sim-lock for a very affordable 529,95€, you might want to check that out.
Nice to see a thread for German sales in particular. Does anyone know if the 32GB model will be for sale here in November?

You might be out of luck. It looks like week 47 is the earliest date to get the Nexus in germany. There are a few sites stating Nov 24 as release date (= week 47) but nothing more concrete has been made public.

It should be available during the next few days. But I don't what is happening now because of the Volume bug. Most of the shops have the 2. December as a date.
The price would be something around this.
529.90 Euros = 712.55653 U.S. dollars

Thanks, but I know about expansys already and they are based in France if I remember correctly. They also charge more than Swedish stores and the release date seems to be the same. The reason I asked originally was because Handyattacke.de has a noticably lower price while the UK has a noticably higher price.

handyattacke.de responded when I emailed them on an unlisted email address. They only said they expected them in stock "early december" so not very detailed there. I asked them for an estimate at least.

Apparently they will get it sometime during week 49.

So I might be taking a trip to Germany in the end of December and was thinking maybe to get the GN while I am there. Because of ties to the military I will be able to get a refund for the VAT which could mean under $600... But I can only do this if I buy it in a store, not from the internet. Have you confirmed any stores for sure selling it unlocked? I know in my town there is a Media Markt and a Saturn as well as T-Mobile, O2 and Vodaphone stores.

MediaMarkt is selling out GalaxyNexus since yesterday (30-Nov) afternoon. Price is 599EUR. (With guarantee that if price goes down in Christmas, you will get the benefit too. I have no more information on that.)
Call your nearest MediaMarkt and reserve one as they've limited (first shot) stocks.

Huawei Watch release date and price UK

At the time of writing Huawei hasn't officially released details on where the Huawei Watch will launch or when. However, we do know it will come to the UK because MobileFun has the device up for pre-order. The retailer is expecting stock in 3-5 days.

pretty sure the 3-5 was just a placeholder. It's gone now. and still no watch. I'm thinking a late spring release is more likely given that we have no news yet.

I was hoping to get myself this watch for my birthday which is next week but it looks like I will have to wait a little bit longer! I really hope it comes out this month. I been checking the news articles daily for any news about a release date.

September would be bad, I'm really waiting for a good sized Android Wear and the Huawei Watch would match that, but my guess is that we will see more than one other watch by September (IFA Berlin). Sony, Motorola and Samsung are just some candidates and then the waiting game starts again. If Huawei would manage to deliver by Juni/Juli I would place my order right away.

It's worth noting that the price listed by Amazon is based on the VAT rates in France (20%). Since the new EU VAT rules now require sellers to pay VAT in the country the buyer is situated in (ie. the country the item is shipped to), you will have to pay a higher price than the one listed if your country has a higher VAT rate. VAT is also applied to the shipping cost.

I never understood the reason to tax everything so extensively in the EU. Its too bad that you can't buy it here and have it shipped as a gift with the value listed at 0

Which model did you order? The silver watch with leather band seems to have shipped already for some people. The metal link band version is delayed until the 27th though according to the email I received yesterday.

Well, we usually end up getting something worthwhile for our higher taxes so I guess it isn't all bad.

I just phoned Huawei UK and asked about UK date - they said at least few weeks away and its not even confirmed They suggested I to keep watching www.vmall.eu for updates. Sod it, getting my mate from US to ship me one, don`t like to wait and its just 262 GBP +shipping.

I ordered the silver metal link band version and got that email too although I don't trust Amazon that much when we talk about expected availability.
Last time I pre-ordered by them the waiting for my Moto 360 was a never ending story (something like 3 months...)!

Nothing yet on the blue one I ordered

I just bought it today in China (Beijing) at a Xiaomi store. It's fantastic.

Nobody has had a 6GB/128GB model ship yet then? Some people recieved notes on their orders saying it would ship on Friday. I recieved one 10 days ago saying it would ship next Wednesday.

I've given up on Aliexpress. I had 3 separate orders with Mi Global, HKG and Mi Store and they're useless at replying to messages and they won't give me a solid date for dispatch.
I've followed TechTablets' (YouTuber) advise and gone with Trading Shenhzen as they have stock of the 128GB gold/white model. The price + postage worked out a smidge higher but they actually respond to messages and they give you the option of the Chinese ROM or that bootleg "global" ROM. They're already processing my order which is fantastic considering I only ordered a few hours ago.

Black and Blue models out of stock there aswell though, cant stand gold phones.

I'm still waiting on my black 6gb/128gb from Mi Global Store on AliExpress. Ordered July 30. Haven't had any replies after they offered to compensate the delay with a free mi band 3. Basically, they, like the rest, did a pre-sale since this version only went live officially on August 10th on Xiaomi's website. I waited this long, so I'll keep waiting for a few more days. No other place has black or blue. I'm not a fan of white/gold either.

Thanks, at least we know its actually been produced and sent out to stores then, Wednesday will be the end of the 2 weeks they asked me to wait, hopefully hear something in the next couple of days.

Yep, I spoke to geekbuying. They don't get their pre-order stock until August 15th, so I think that's when online 6gb/128GB start shipping.

Yes, Trading Shenhzen is the best shop IMO. Hong Kong Goldway at Aliexpress use to be great but not anymore.

I have mine being shipped to me now. I was able to buy it off China's biggest e-commerce website taobao, and have it shipped to me in Malaysia. Logistics is going to take some time, and I hope I can get it within a week or two.

All Mi Max 3 will have those bands. You can buy / preorder from AliExpress, Gearbest, Geekbuying, Honorbuy, etc., etc.
BUT currently only the Chinese ROM is available, global ROM is rumoured to be released soon.

What about the play store. Is it installed on the phone?

Not on the Chinese ROM. Some resellers will install it before shipping but personally I would request them to leave the box sealed.

Hi fine people!
After ordering my 8 Pro an hour after launch, I finally got a shipment notification and tracking number this evening (yay). However, I noticed it is shipping from Hong Kong to me in New Jersey, U.S. My question is, will it still be the global version? I don't want the China version. I thought that U.S. shipments were shipping from the west coast, somewhere from California. Do I need to be concerned?

if you ordered from the website (. Com) then it won't be the China variant.
Mine was also shipped from HK, EU version.
But anyway, you can flash any version you like by using local update
