Touch Pro2 -The Good, the Bad and the Niggly - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

So far on the first day:
GOOD:
+It's shiny,shiny new!
+Screen -bright, responsive
+Keyboard -easy to use, and nice to have one back after a spell with a Cruise
+Touch Flo -really improved IMHO, fast and easy to use
+Very easy to set up
+Shape/form factor/weight very suitable for me
BAD:
-No FM radio -*****NOW FIXED! with many thanks to adolfotregosa
-TV out means that -not RGB signal out, which I use on an Athena* to work on PCs remotely via RDP and a 17" monitor. So I should have read the fine print as availalbe cable only supports video.
NIGGLY:
Weather tab resets to another city
Soft reset requires cover removal.
OTHER:
While it's a nice neat aero-dynamic shape I wonder how many hinge problems there will be
*on the Athena I used the TV out cable to plug in a full USB PC keyboard and PC monitor with a Bluetooth mouse which gave me close to a desktop experience when working remotely in clients' offices and managing my own hardware back at the ranch

I've seen a vid where they did use RGB on a TV

USE Touch Pro2 with TV
The YouTube shows the TV running of the RCA pugs not RGB pug.
I still want a Touch Pro2 when the Unlocked USA or Telstra version comes out with 850/2100.
Thank you,

Yes, I'd still like to see if I can get a short, straight forward cable that can produce VGA out. I suppose HDMI might work on a newer monitor

I still don't understand how this was an issue. I am making a YouTube video about this. My friend ordered his Touch Pro 2 FROM EUROPE and had it shipped to the USA and he still got FM RADIO!!
He did not have to install a cab or anything. Maybe this was a manufacturing fluke? It comes WITH FM RADIO built in.

The missing radio might be a rights issue in some countries.

Probably. My youtube video shows that the Imported TP 2 has FM radio installed on it.

Minor gripes with Telstra TP2.. suggestions welcome!
We have had Touch Pro 2 with Telstra for a bit over a week now and have a few minor gripes.
What happened to the Flash for the camera... missing..
Also FM Radio - but doesnt work with Bluetooth headphones - requires HTC wired headphones to work! Seriously!
How can I make the battery indicator appear easily? I want it on every screen if possible!!
Programs-- All programs.. How can i skip the Programs (which are annoyingly preset with non-customisable icons such as Whereis etc) and go straight to All Programs.
On the plus side - this phone has an awesome battery life.. much more impressive than my Tytn II.. however it does seem to end every single running program when you click out, whether you like it - or not.. saves batteries but wastes so much time having to retrieve them.

I believe the HTC wired headphones are needed because the wire acts as an FM antenna lead.

Soft reset requires cover removal.
excuse me, for soft reset no need to remove the cover, I use this since I had the Kaiser http://www.mediafire.com/?nme2pgmzjxh it's called tastoreset.cab you must install and then everything is ok
you can also use this http://teamtir.blogspot.com/search/label/ROM per Kaiser (thanks to team TIR)

I love my TP2, had it for a month now and I have to say no flash or light with the camera is most probably my biggest disappointment with the device. Unless you have a LOT of light, the picture exposure is really bad, almost useless.
Bad call from HTC.

I think what Tomo is trying to say is that if your device hangs and the OS/software is unresponsive, then you have to remove the stylus then the cover to soft reset. Historically on HTC devices, you could just poke the stylus into the reset hole at the bottom and away you go. It's an annoyance, that's for sure, and another strange design decision.
Of course if your device is responsive, you don't even need to load software as you suggest - just hold the power button down to power off then power back on (essentially a soft reset)

Yes you are right... unfortunately my English isn't very sliding... I haven't understood the question but I use that cab often, ussually when the device slows its function

Got mine today here my good and bad on its 1st day
Good
Clear & bright screen
Touchflo 3D2 is fast/great
keyboard is superb
call quality is great
slide out keyboard is good (not tilting)
Bad
wobbling screen ( might send it back for replacement )
No flash
No 3.5mm jack
should include Tv-out cable in the package
Its a very nice phone... i cant wait to add a lil bit more good stuff on it!.
stepping outside symbian is not bad at all...winmo is nice while waiting for their symbian foundation OS.

Can't you drill a little hole in the back cover for the soft-reset button?

This is interesting.
from TMOUS TP2 manual.
13.7 Resetting Your Device
Performing a soft reset
Perform a soft (normal) reset to clear all active program memory and shut down all active programs. This is useful when your device is running slower than normal, or a program is not performing properly. If a soft reset is performed when programs are running, unsaved work is lost.
To perform a soft reset
Use the stylus tip to press the RESET button at the right panel of your device.
Your device restarts and displays the Home screen.

t3238 3g digitizer problem ?

Gday .. just got a touch 3g from ebay, I think its a clone =-( .. anyway the problem im having is the screen calibration, slide bar does not work properly, it does not click where you tell it to, you might input letter R but it will give you a L or a H or something totally random, even trying to just press a icon it usually selects the wrong icon, miles away from the icon you tried to click..
do you guys think this sounds like a software or hardware issue ?
So anyone have any clues as to wether the rom could cause this jumping touch screen issue or would it definatly be the digitizer its self..
Dont want to order a new digitizer until I get advice from a few of you good people
have the same phone T3238 clone from china, had same problem out of the box, did a hard reset, re-ran the screen calibrator and make sure you touch the center of each x correctly, installed Resco Keyboard and much better now.

need digitizer
I have HTC Touch 3G clone from dealextreme. On third day display stoped working. It reacts only on top corners. I can't find a digitizer because it's with connection on right upper corner.
I have the same phone. I got everything working but installed the GreateVK & FreePK SDHC cab, now I can't get the microSD card to work anymore. I wish I could remove things using the uninstall. I'd like to upgrade to 6.5. I still haven't got the 3G working yet. I'm about to contact AT&T, but I doubt they don't know and leave all that up to the Chinese.

In case you are talking about the 3G technology provided by your phone company, please note that this phone you bought does not support 3G. "Touch 3G" is just a name, not a feature, no support for 3G. For now, 99.9% phone from China does not have 3G.

Hey, Martoka, good news.

[App] Yay my first app called SmartLock 0.1

Hi all!
Ive been taking stuff from the XDA-Dev Community for a long time so I thought while I learn C# Programming ill post my Apps up here (as a means of giving something back and having a fresh supply of guinea pigs heh heh heh). Anyway this is ver 0.1 and i am a beginner so use with caution.
Also I only just finished it so I would like to hear about feature requests if possible. ANNDD i made this using the Samsung SDK so i dont know which fones it will work with i doubt it will work with HTC as it uses the light sensor (the only thing used from it). So if someone wants to share with me the code on how to read the HTC light sensor (get the Lumens) then I can make it dual compatible .
Anyhoo this is the point of the app: I dont like to lock my phone with the password all the time as i usually listen to MP3s and I dont like the fact that my fone (i8000) sometimes unlocks the screen on receiving a message or email etc. The worst thing is when youre walking and happily listening to your MP3s and then suddenly you hear beeps from your phone as it presses against your leg!
If i lock it i have to put a password on it if i dont lock it sometimes the End Key gets pressed and turns the screen on or some event on the phone turns the screen on and then you have to dig it out your pocket and the Sleeve of the phone and close it again.
Maybe its just me but it bugs me very much.
So what this app does is when the screen is turned on in low light surroundings it presents another lock screen. As im not very good with graphics (i dont even have a program icon ) etc its just three buttons. The first is displayed at the top, tap it show the second and then the third and then it becomes unlocked and you can use it as normal. So next time you receive a message it wont be bugging you that your fone may be making a phonecall or typing gibberish to someone in your address book and so you can listen to your mP3's in peace.
Attached are screen shots of the proggie and the CAB file to install.
Please give me Feature suggestions and other App suggestions im hoping to be fluent in C# before summer is over.
PS: Im testing the app myself so im not sure about battery life etc. I didnt use polling of the screen power state rather i used the Power Notifications and the message queue method.
Looks cool, I would test it but I have a HTC phone so I cant . Just one question, how would you go about handling this in the dark, will it just lock or is there some way to quickly switch it off on unlock?
Also, if you want some buttons made, pm me I am a graphic design student and would have no trouble doing it for you

In the dark the three buttons will appear on the screen and you have 10 seconds to press them. Once those buttons are pressed you can use the phone until you lock it again by turning the screen off (not the full Pass Code to lock but just turning the screen off with a quick press). This way if you turn the fone on in a dark room you still have the ability to use it. However if it accidently turns on in your pocket the same three buttons are shown but after 10 seconds it will turn back off.
Ok thanks well if you find a way to port it to HTC I would definetly use it.
Its not so much a major port I just dont have an HTC Device to test it on and the only thing i need is the api to get a value from the light sensor if you can find me that i can put an HTC version in one second .
Through the power of search
I hope this works for you http://www.koushikdutta.com/2008/07/htc-light-sensor-sdk.html
I need an app like this, my wife hates it when my HD2 pocket dials her. If you can make it compatible with HTC I'll be all over it! Nice job!
Interesting stuff! I'll be updating this. As soon as it's HTC compatible, I'll be testing it
Very interesting.
Hoping to see an HTC enabled version soon
how much ram does it take?

Solution for:HTC Desire back button (and others) not working good after a while

Dear all,
I'd like to share a solution with the global HTC Desire community to the "buttons not working properly" issue.
My problem was that after a few months of use, some buttons of my HTC Desire began to not be as responsive as before.
It started by the "back button" and then the "home button" ; I had to push harder on it to get it work.
I saw several topics on this subject and no one proposed a solution that was really working.
Some people were saying that it was a software issue but as I had changed everything on my Desire since the first day I got this issue, I was sure it was hardware related.
I was about to follow the disassembly tutorial on youtube to have a look at the buttons more accurately but my father proposed to use a "moisture remover" before.
The product is this one but I'm sure some equivalent can be found:
MicroCare MCC-DC1 - VeriClean™ Flux Remover - 10 oz Aerosol Can
Basically, from what I understood, it helps to dry the parts where you use it (might help also from swimming pool issue...).
We turned off the phone, and used it directly on the buttons, trying to get the product inside (the buttons are quite loose so it was definitely feasible).
I turned on the phone 1min later and I'm still very impressed of the result.
Every button are now working properly (no need to press harder) and they react like the first day I got my phone. This is is very impressing and for all who might have the same issue than me I'd like to see if it works for everyone. It seems that my phone got wet some day (which doesn't surprise me at all) and the wetness never left, messing with the buttons.
Let us know if I'm right !
Cheers !
So, is it still working?
Thanks for the tip. Had the same problem with my year old Desire. I just tried this with some PCB & Flux cleaner from Maplin (£3.99) and so far it seems to working much better.
Will see how long it lasts.
hi all
same problem here
do you think that crc 2-26 will do the trick? http://www.google.it/search?q=crc+2...=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=1&sqi=2&ved=0CC4Q_AUoAA is it similar to what you used? i meanm is it a simple electronic pray (yet "liquid") contact cleaner?
i'm a little afraid of using that on the phone... i tried compressed air but didn't work
thanks

Thanks, i got this issue with the volumebuttons
Hope this help to my phone's volumeUp button.

Will definitely look into the solutions posted in this thread!
I had this trouble and found an app called 'Button Savior' which displays an icon on the screen that when tapped displays a 'strip' of buttons onscreen (Home, Menu, Back etc)
It requires root for full functionality and as I am rooted I don't know what functionality it would have for un-rooted phones.
say it also works for the volume button? if I do not crush very strong does not work ... it is for what?
It has Home, Menu, Power, Back, Phone, Search and Camera buttons.
There is also an app callled 'Volume Widget' which allows you to put a widget on a screen to turn up or down the volume for Call/Music/Ringer etc.
tried it and it stained my screen....streaks shooting up when white

I have a HTC Desire brown and my Home, Menu and volume down buttons were barely working.
I used MicroCare MCC-DC1 - VeriClean™ Flux Remover - 10 oz Aerosol Can
because the suggested product above is not available here in Belgium.
I removed the back panel and the battery. Then carefully sprayed some flux remover on the malfunctioning buttons, waited a minute and done!
Thanks so much to you and your dad for sharing this solution !

screen far too sensitive?

I had my g4 several weeks ago (uk version). Great phone, however recently the screen seems far too sensitive. Sometimes apps or other features are activating on their own without me pressing on them.
I looked in the settings but havent found a way to resolve this. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
Just to clarify a bit more about my issue.
Its like the "floating touch" some phones have, where i can be an inch or two away from the screen but it still activates. More rarely, it seems as if it was activating by sensing light or movement. Strange. Is the g4 supposed to have this type of function?

That sounds like a problem. The G4 is actually known for lacking sensitivity and yours is doing the opposite. enable this settings to see if it is actually detecting ghost touches.
Settings, About Phone, Software Info and tap on 'Buidld number' 7 times. Then go back to settings and tap Developer options, enable 'Show Touches'
if the dots show without your intervention, then it's likely due to faulty touchscreen.
Anyways, do a factory reset and see if it helped.

Thank you. I will give that a try,
As it happens intermittently, i cant say how quick i will find out if that is the solution, but you have been helpful.

Does reset solve the issue? , happening on mine right now. Appreciate your feedback. Thanks
Same here, on Imperium and Stock rom, I have the phone since 6 months and it is a really random issue... my bootloader is unlock so I don't know if I can send it to warranty.
For information I have enable the touch "tracing" in developper menu, and when the issue occurred it's getting me perfect vertical line from bottom to top screen, and open a lot of apps..

And from the sound of it... Yours pretty much ****ed, at least to my knowledge. Hardware screwed and no warranty. Just bought mine like 3 weeks ago, and hated it so much. So much hyped, but the experienced is so far ****ty at best.
I suspect mine hardware issue. This seems like it's gonna be the first, and the last LG for me. Even mine with warranty still intact. Blackberry used to give this feeling long ago with their ****ty storm. Now, LG and blackberry can share that same ****ed up grave.
As madgibbon indicates, I was on Accessibility / Motricity / Response time (my phone is in french so i'm not sure if it will be exactly like that on yours) and I have set to "Long".
Since that, the issue is no longer appear, I have also switch to rom V20F (Turkey) with still the same setting for accessibility, and I don't have the issue anymore.
I don't know if it is a hardware issue, my phone falls maybe 4 times but with a case and from a little height, no broken glass or something else.
This is all the things I tried before that ;
Using flipcover (QI charge and quick circle), I have tested the "normal" case but same issue
I had a glass protection, I have removed it and cleaned my screen, same issue
I have done lot of hard reset (i'm kind of full wipe addict), same issue
Only the solution of madgibbon works fortunately, thanks mate
I'm also a bit disappointed by this phone, it is great sure I mean fluid, great camera etc... but I have some little issue that ruin the experience unfortunately (this issue with touchscreen, i'm experiencing issue with my Chromecast too that i don't have with other phones, some heating, I don't find the battery usage so good since MM, can't relock bootloader since now). I don't blame LG because i'm using some of their products and I'm / was really satisfied with : Optimus 2x, Nexus 5, TV, Monitor, Sound Bar. Anyway, waiting for 2016's Nexus and I will see if I switch or not.

Screen problem after all, just picked my phone up from the place that I bought for under warranty fix, and they told me they did replace for a new screen, and all is looking fine and dandy for now. Hope it stay this way, finger crossed. 3 weeks purchased and already this problem. I doubt this thing will last.

Good lock 2018

Works brilliantly, I live in UK, and have to use the quick short maker app, must have for stock roms
Installed them all, played about with them all, only one I kinda like is the recent apps one, but even that I'm beginning to get a bit sick of now, pretty much the same experience of when I tried it on either my S5 or S7, that also got uninstalled very quickly

Blurred QS Bg is also in Goodlock?
Yep, blurred options are available
The new task changer is so good. If you quickly switch between the 2 recent apps by quickly double tapping there's no lag whatsoever. Old version had a little hiccup!

Yea I liked it too but my muscle memory has gotten used to swiping left/right to clear recent apps and was constantly doing that instead of swipe up/down, so have reverted back
Think I'm stuck in my ways tbh, at least with Samsung, same reason I cannot think of anything I would like to use the Bixby button for, so it just sits there useless, maybe with a different manufacturer's phone I could change my habits

Use bxactions!! I use it and if you give it increased control just by following the instructions (involves plugging into computer). It's so good because I've programmed it to launch google assistance, pause music, flightlight etc.
This is the last versión 1.0.00.27?

Like I said, I can't think of anything I would want to use the Bixby button for, I don't need another button for anything
I know about bxactions, I tried it (buggy) but even still there was no action I wanted to map that button for
Maybe if I lived in a cave it would be handy for the flashlight...

It's pretty buggy if you don't give it full control or whatever its called. Involves plugging in computer and executing a file on phone. Cause otherwise it launches bixby for a split second and is pretty annoying. And for the flashlight, sure you don't need it all the time but it dos have its uses once in a while. The better features for me is pause music, skip song and importantly launch google assistant instead of bixby

Yea I executed that file with adb and the phone connected originally, I set it up via the instructions but it wanted to do something other than I told it to
The button is just in an awkward place for me, I press it whenever I pick up the phone, or press the power button, they've placed it in such a position that they get a load of stats saying it's being used 10x more than it really is due to accidental presses, similar to when Microsoft changed the X close button to OK Accept for upgrading to 10 and claimed it was a mistake
Above the volume up or above the power key would have been a better place, somewhere you only press it when you mean to
If I map it for flashlight or anything else I'm gonna get sick of constantly accidentally launching whatever I map it to
Maybe in 12 months when the novelty of a new phone has worn off I`ll start playing about with it but quite happy to have it do nothing atm
I never had the chance to try this on my S7, so it's a breath of fresh air on my S9. Trying everything now to see what I'll keep. So far the lockscreen options are nice indeed.

True, the button is very easy to press, i have a case so less of a issue for me. Yeah i would root my phone but the disadvantages that arise greatly outweigh the benefits
Good lock has been officially released for the US galaxy store
Will it be available in the EU too?

Hopefully it will be, it's a good app, best for custom without root, the other apps are good also, the newer edge lighting has more effects, and also a routine app, one handed mode + and edge touch which I not used yet.
Thanks for the links! After installing all the apps I found that I preferred the way Samsung gave me my device!
However I've still retained one hand operation +, edge lighting plus and quickstar. The rest of the apps didn't seem to attract me much.
Thanks again!
Cheers!

I really like it, bit more customisation is always a good thing.
I got the "Badlock" version here which doesn't need any other apps to be able to change settings etc. - https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/how-to/lock-lock-2018-8-0-devices-t3804657
