I'm looking to have access to the Blackstone phonebook when I connect it in rSAP mode to my Audi MMI.
Because I dont have the very brand new MMI with harddisk navigation and new integrated phone) I can only select numbers from SIM card.
Any comments/suggestions?
I've got an Audi A6 and I use software from jetwaremobile.com to sync my HTC with the MMI.
First try to install the demo version and then look for a config file that lets you SWITCH PHONEBOOKS (between SIM and Outlook).
In my Audi I've got to sync the Outlook Phonebook, Incoming/ Missed/ Outgoing calls and signal strenght.
NOTE: Do not try the AUDI MMI configuration that appears on the web page. It's not necessary and doesn't work.
Mode Handsfree vs. rSAP
thx for your answer.
It sounds to me you are connected in "handsfree mode" - could you check the small sign at the MMI display?
Should show 2 x symbols (1 bluetooth-symbol and 1 signal bar symbol) - right?
I have got the same issue with my VW Passat. It worked fine with Nokia phones, but I also cannot get the phone book over SAP with Win Mob. Tried all version patches etc. But have not been able to find a solution.
The work-around: Copy the needed contacts to your SIM, hide SIM contacts in the phone and let the car sync with the SIM card. It is not the best solution but at least it works.

Teh reason why...
The reason is the use of a proprietary use of a Nokia phone unit in the car of VAG in the past.
All new cars are able to communicate in the right way of bluetooth..
(I tried it successfuly with my HTC Touch HD and a brand new A6 - all worked perfect!)
Did you use the "Handsfree" profile in the Audi, cause I know this works fine? I've tried this with a few rentals.
The problem arises as soon as you want to connect using the Bluetooth SAP profile. In my Passat I have no other option as SAP and I actually like this function, just this phone book issue...
Handsfree
I dont like "Handsfree" because I have to use my inbuilt phoneunit of my Audi - and so I need the SIM access- Biggest advantage is the us of an external antenna with very strong signal.
Nobody else with a hint?

Sorry for the delayed answer.
Yes I've got two symbols, the bluetooth and the signal bar.
I realized that symbols on MMI depends on the implementation of the bluetooth protocol of the phone. For instance, with sony-ericsson I used to have bluetooth, signal bar, SIM entrys (not phone contacs), incoming, outgoing, missed calls, etc.
But with Motorola the only thing I used to get was the bluetooth symbol (no contacts, calls, etc.)
This is exactly what happend when I first connected my HTC, so I searched for a solution. Since I have JetweareMobile I've got the same features than with sony-ericsson, and even more, because I can sync both SIM and PHONE contacts.
It's nicely resolve because when you toggle to PHONE CONTACTS, you get your contact's names in the MMI with a /W, /H and /M for work, home and mobile numbers (you may have several numbers per contact)
If you have the bluetooth car kit and you're having problems, give it a try.
Same result without jetwaremobile.com
ok pitaXDA - thx for your answer.
So I was right - your are using the HTC in "Handsfree" mode - this works fine with the standard Bluetooth Software installed on the HTC - you will not need this extra peace of software.
I don't like the handsfree-mode, because it only uses the Bluetooth connection for the phonebook.
I'm using the rSAP mode - because I want to use the external phone antenna of my A6 and also the phone funtion at the HTC is disabled (like Airplane mode) to save power. The disadvantage for me is the use of phonenumbers stored on SIM only (there is no synch of the "normal" phonbook in that mode)

Hi,
I hope this is the correct forum.
I have a VW Passat with factory fit bluetooth setup. I am having a problem and can't seem to get the car and phone to see each other.
Would anyone have any advice? I tried a soft reset on the phone and made sure bluetooth was enabled and searching.
Thanks
Hi
I too have a VW Passat, you need to set your handset to use Remote SIM mode, on my HTC3300 this program can be found by going to Start>Programs.
Once you have activated Remote SIM, switch on your Bluetooth and tell the Car to search for the device, once found, pair as normal.
You must set the Car to read your SIM memory only, if you do not the phonebook update will not read your contacts.
My VW factory fit works perfect, the only downside is that you have to save your contacts from your Outlook contacts direst to your SIM card.
Also when using Remote SIM you cannot use the phones GPRS connection, if you use Tom-Tom Traffic than you have to disconnect the phone to update...what a pain.......
If you get stuck, just mail me.
Thanks for the reply.
I can't seem to find the remote sim option. Any idea where it might be on the Orbit?
Thanks!
I have had the TP2 for a couple of weeks now and am generally very happy with it, but for some reason the Sim Access Profile is not working correctly with my Audi. I have paired the phone with the car and have enabled SAP in the phone's BT advanced settings page. Unfortunately the car will only access part of my phone book (only contacts under A to B are showing). The phone has all of my contacts on it and all of the other features of SAP seem to be working. I know that I can use JETware as an alternative but would like to know if I am doing something stupid with the phone before I go down the JETware route.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
I put my problem / question in this thread:
I use the TP2 in my skoda with a audi BT-SAP-Adapter this combination works, tested it before with my S/// X1.
When i pair my phone with the sap-Adapter the adapter recognizes that the TP2 can use the SAP-BT-profile and use the longer pairing PIN (when you pair a mobilephone wich has no SAP-profile the adapter use the Handsfree-profile and shows you a shorter PIN). As far, everything seems to work great.
But when my TP2 want´s than to connect with the adapter i see that the statusline shows the typical symbol for the flight mode and in the BT-menu at the BT-adapter i see the words "SIM-Access" for very short time (~ one second). Next the line “Stereo-profile” or something else (it is to fast to read) appears and half a second later the line “Handfsree” appears. The Symbol for a handsfree connection is shown at the statusline and the sign for flightmode changes back to the normal symbol for filedstrength.
what i tried as far to solve the problem:
1) i contacted the HTC-Support. They told me. that they made, at the moment, a test-row to solve specially the problems between HTC-WINMob-Handsets and car-handsfree-sets. So i got from there a software which i had to install at my phone and got a error-report. This i had to sent to HTC. No further comment from them.
2) i searched at very much forums at the car and mobilephone scene.
3) I tested the combination with different SIM-cards from different Providers and different ages.
4) I deleted my contacts at my SIM and wrote some newer one with an NOKIA Phone (this helped by some other SAP-car-FSEs)
5) I used No-Data
6) I installed the newest radio-rom.
Nothing of this brought some solution.
As i found at my recherches i´m not the only one who hast this problem with the HTC and sap-car-handsfree-set.
I thing, that this is a problem with the BT-Stack which is used at the TP2 and other HTC, is it?
Dose somebody solved this problem? Even with an other HTC with the same BT-Stack???
Has somebody any other idea to solve the problem??
Any help??
Merci
Quino666
I had no problems with SIM access on my 2010 A3 TDI -- worked flawlessly with my Tilt 2 with stock ROM. I haven't checked the car's phonebook lately, but last time I looked, everything was there.
1) With update on WM 6.5 or the first WM 6-version of the ROM?
2) Do you use a build in Handsfree solution with sap-profile or the adapter-solution?
Merci
Quino666
Hey,
I have a similiar Problem with the rSAP snap-in Adapter in my 2010 iDrive BMW. rSAP (telephony) just works great, but it only syncs the simcard's PhoneBook entries.
The BT-Monitor on my TP2 (Energy Rom WiMo 6.5.6) shows an active SAP and PBAP connection. Any ideas how I tell my TP2 to distribute the internal Exchange contacts and not the SIM-Contacts?
bye

Anyone else having bluetooth problems or is this operator error?
I can switch bluetooth on, make my handset visible, pair with other devices and receive files from other handsets, however when I try to send anything, I can't connect to paired devices and bluetooth hangs meaning I have to switch my handset off and on.
I was using bluetooh last night and all was ok
but unlike my last phone c902 the bluetooth is on a timer then turns off visibility
Working fine for me. Paired up my bluetooth headset and will still be working hours later even if I haven't interacted between them.
It's strange, devices show as paired but not connected and I can't make them connect.
Have been able to use BT for file transfer between my Desire and laptop and HD2. Also connected to my Plantronics BT headset. I think you need to have an appropriate BT driver for some devices like BT keyboards.
I too am having minor issues.
The wife's hands free kit (Parrot CK3000 evo) in the car supports voice dialling by sending contacts to it and then recording a tag which is associated with the contact. This way the kit can do the voice dialling for handsets that don't support it.
For some reason the Desire refuses to send contacts to the hands free kit claiming it doesn't support the correct bluetooth profiles. This obviously isn't the case as all the other phones we have tried work perfectly with the CK3000.
Only a minor issue, as in my car which has the CK3300 everything works fine (including syncing the phonebook to the car kit). It's more of a problem for the wife though, as she wants to upgrade to the Desire on Saturday when her contract is up for renewal but at the minute won't be able to voice dial from the car.
Dae.
Strange. I'll try connceting to my laptop later.
I too am having difficulty sending files over bluetooth. I can accept files fine, from any source, yet cannot send from my HTC Desire. First the notification says complete, but 0 files sent. Then going inside it shows it has failed. And then clicking it and retrying shows Unknown file. What's going on??
Tried sending to two mobile phones, and a Windows 7 laptop. Easily works the other way around. Also, sometimes I can't turn my bluetooth off properly, it just crashes the chip while turning off and can't turn it on or off until I reboot. Thought it might be Advanced Task Killer, but tried the same thing immediately after a reboot and still can't send files. Any ideas?
still no closer to solving this, I think it may be going back tomorrow.
I'm also having problems...
I have the Parrot CK3200 LS-COLOR and it connects to the phone ok, or vice versa and then it always falls over when trying to sync the contacts... It shows my facebook profile pic and then it fails.
If I dial a contact through the phone, or receive a call, it comes out fine through the speakers.
So I'm wondering if it's something to do with the way the the desire handles contacts.
Sorry if there's been a resolution to this, I did search first
me to also having the same problems. spent 4 hours on google last night and still no closer.
Weird as it might sound, I had no issues connectiong to car stereo. But when I tried to pair it with friends mobile, SonyEricsson c902 - it crashed!
I was trying to send a picture file I have downloaded using bluetooth.
Also, can anyone tell me how to send a mp3 file I have downloaded off the internet to another mobile using bluetooth?
Thanks
Have you enabled FTP under Bluetooth advanced settings? I have no problem transfering files to and from PC or other mobile phone. Also make sure the device is dicroverable and paired.
I had a similar problem which I wrote to HTC about: I paired and connected the Desire with my bluetooth car head unit and it works fine for phone & audio, but it will not auto connect each time I get in the car and I have to go through the pairing process and enter a code each time. Voice dialling also doesn't work. My previous handset (Touch HD) connected automatically if the bluetooth was on so I don't think it's a problem with the head unit. Someone suggested it might be due to an old bluetooth protocol on the head unit (I'd like to avoid having to replace it if possible).
i managed to send a file to another htc desire today, last time i tried, i admit i didn't enable the ftp service, however I could not send via bluetooth to a nokia n96 but to be fair, my desire probably just didn't want anything to do with it . but on a serious note I cant seem to get it to send to my windows 7 x64 disto.

take that back .. apart from the N96 joke.. reason windows was not accepting was because avast anti virus was blocking it.

hi,
i made i bluetooth pairing between my desire and my car. unfortunatelly it has synced my facebook contacts, too, so i have a lot of double accounts listet in my car. how can i turn off syncing facebook accounts to my car, because they have almost all only email addresses, and i don't want to write emails in my car.
How did you manage to sync your Desire? I have an A6 (2006 model) and I cannot get a pairing. I have read that Android does not support the correct rSAP bluetooth protocol, so pairing in theory should not be possible. Is yours a new car, or does Audi (US) install different software?
I am in the UK and have 2006 Audi A6, Desire syncs perfectly with Bluetooth in the car.

Same on my side... I got a A4 (2008 B8) and wasn't able to use the rSAP, just like classic handset. Would be great if you could give us a little more infos on how you did it!

That's very encouraging! Any tips on how you got it to work? Can you possibly describe the sequence you used to get it paired up - for instance did you have to clear the car phone book menmory, or any stuff like that? Thanks in advance.
2008 B8 A4 as well, and connects like a charm...
Did nothing special, except enable discover mode on desire, and search for phone in the MMI...
Is you MMI updated completely?
2009 Q7 and contacts, call lists etc sync fine. Just set it up by browsing for the MMI on the phone within 1 minute of powering up the MMI.
One problem though, the Desire can take several minutes to re-connect if it's not on (ie screen on) when the MMI is next enabled. If it is on it connects at once.
My wifes Nokia connects at once despite being in standby. Anyone else seen this and have a fix?
Cheers

In terms of connecting, I can't add much more - on the phone search for Bluetooth devices, and you then are talked through the pairing.
Yes I have the same quirk that phone pairs immediately if the screen is on, if the screen is off there can be either a delayed connection or no connection at all
I can pair and use it as a regular handset... (Audi A4 B8 2008) On my MMI it's showing the phone icon and the signal icon. What I'm looking for is the SIM icon, which means that rSAP is working and that the roof antenna took over the phone antenna.
With the SIM icon (rSAP connected) you have sms notification appearing on the MMI, you can even read them on the screen..
Do you guys have this SIM icon appearing?
I don't think my 2006 Audi A6 MMI has that functionality. If you have a fixed phone in the car, you can read SMS, but not I think with any paired phone?
I think my problem may be the security code - it doesn't respond to 0000 nor 1234, so I suspect I'll have to get a dealer to extract the code for me. My phone is recognising the Audi "handset" but won't pair with it.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the code without having to visit a dealer?
On my 2009 A6 there is an option to change the security code: select Tel, Setup on the car AV system then change the code to whatever you wish.
first pairing with the car should happen within a few minutes of the car being switched on, I can't remember whether it's two or five.
Hope this helps
Andrew

I agree with Andrew, you set the Bluetooth pairing code in the MMI system - you can change it to whatever you like
I seem to recall that I had to change PIN to get it to pair with my new phone, but as said above you can do this through the MMI Phone Settings (one of the few things you can do )
Watch the time out though on the MMI BT I think it might even be as short as a minute!
Thanks for all the replies - you have to have the old code to allow you to change to a new one, and it's the old one that I think is holding everything up. It's a low priority at the moment, but I'll get round to asking a dealer to sort it out for me. then I can try again. Good to know that it does work though!
Dear all,
My HTC Desire is now 15 months old, and still works as new. No, better than new since it's rooted and faster.
Coming to the problems:
My car has a bluetooth feature to stream music from the phone, and to take and make calls. Bluetooth music streaming works perfectly, and I can skip songs using the car controls.
I am facing the following issues with the "Phone Connect" feature when I pair the Desire:
After any and every incoming or outgoing call is completed, I get a pop up on the screen which says "Fatal Exception..." and I can only force close from here. When I force close, the signal strength icon shows a cross and all connectivity is lost for sometime, including BT: car says "phone disconnected". After a while the signal strength comes back and BT can be reconnected.
So basically I have to repeat this process everytime I make or answer a call via the car BT feature. Needless to say, it's a PITA.
I am guessing this is a problem to do with the radio or kernel of the phone. Not sure which. Please confirm this, and guide me to a radio or kernel file which may solve this issue.
My second problem has to do with the phonebook feature of the car. It can pull the contacts, the recently dialled numbers, recently received numbers, and missed calls. Only in the Desire it doesn't.
The phonebook feature can only see the contacts in the SIM card.
The recently dialled, received, and missed calls don't work. Numbers only show up on the car list if I have made/answered/missed a call while connected to the car BT.
The only feature that works as it should is redial.
As I am told, all Nokia models work perfectly on the same car model, and since we own a 'smart'phone, not to mention an Android, we should be able to get it to work however we want it to.
Any fixes for this one?
Thanks in advance.
PS. If you want the exact error message thrown by the phone after taking/making a call, I can write it down and get back to you afterwards.
BUMP!
Please help, guys!
