Sprint Touch (Vogue) Win 6.5 Text Help - Touch CDMA Windows Mobile ROM Development

I upgraded to 6.5, internet works, other data services work just fine, but my text messaging doesnt work at all. I installed the dcd sprint carrier cab thinking that it would fix it, but no luck. Any help with this would be great!

i have the same exact issue after installing 6.5 but nobody seems to want to help at all.

That's because the question has been answered in our FAQ and plenty of times in the ROM's thread.
Hard reset, and install the carrier cab again.

i did hard reset 2 times and installed my dcd cab for sprint, it doesn't fix anything. it must be a bug with 6.5 roms. i have since installed palm threaded messaging and all is fine now.

could i please get a link to that?!?!?!?!?!

heres the cab install.

Questions after upgrading to WM6 - Help...

Ok, I have upgraded my Hermes to WM6 using the ROM on the wiki site.
I have installed all my apps and everything was looking great. I then noticed the Extended ROM and half a dozen cab files. So I have installed all of these as assumed they were some sort of patches.
I carried on installing my apps but now after a reboot the SIM PIN Lock entry screen looks a really basic (non 3d) button version and the keypad that should be shown when pressing the green call button isn't displayed I just get a white screen.
I have installed the following apps:-
eWallet 5
Tomtom 6
PocketBreeze 5.2
Phone Alarm + VistaMedia skin
Any ideas on what has happened?
Do I need to re-flash my phone?
Help..
Thanks
Mark

Which version have you upgraded to?? If it is v0.20.x (thats 0.20.0 or 0.20.1) this is a known issue, seriously recommend reading the thread concerned with the ROM you are flashing before going ahead (the link for the thread is in the table aswell).

Yes it was the Vanilla version. I have done the wrong one?

Thanks again

The best thing to do is to is to perform a 'Hard Reset' which will reset your device back to the same point as when the rom was flashed, so you will need to reinstall everything. Suggest you install the same things again but dont install the skin....this might be incompatible with WM6 (since nearly all skins are designed for use in WM5).
BTW, i would take some time to read through the wiki and familiarise yourself with the various reset types and other literature on ROM upgrades, the knowledge in these pages will hold you in good stead for the future sir

Just one other question. Should I have ran all the CAB's from the Extended ROM?

Not really....the best thing you can do is to leave the ext_rom alone and just manually configure your MMS and WAP settings by hand. The ext_rom (again) contains cab installers that are designed for WM5.....while most should work in WM6 there are some that dont. ext_rom is something i havent used for ages in XDA-Live (v0.1 and now 0.2) and I dont miss it.
Just install the apps you were running (phonealarm and others). The ext_rom doesnt do much except run carrier based stuff (like themes and automatic settings).

Japanese input on WM6

Hi. So far the only thing stopping me from upgrading is that I haven't seen any definitive word on Japanese input without the floating bar.
Has anyone got this working?
More specifically -- I actually bought AtoK, and wanted to test it before I upgraded. I've seen reports that it works on WM6, but when I installed it on MW5 it trashed my install and I had to hard reset.
So ...
If anyone has only just flashed their rom and wouldn't mind testing AtoK japanese input system, please let me know and I can 'loan' you my copy for test purposes before I take the plunge.
Hmm, I got enabled regular Japanese input on WM5 AKU3.3 (QTEK 2.11 ROM) without no problems... Just installed Asukal's tools: LetsJapanNo5x & IME_32J_QVGA_F and everything works as charm... Not 100% sure if it will work on WM6.
If you want to try and have trouble finding these files please PM me. I would like to try Atok if you don't mind...

I'm not going to test that myself, and I've had mixed reports. Most people say that they get the floating bar with that setup on WM6. I'm not going to upgrade to WM6 unless I am *sure* I can get intuitive and clean Japanese input.
mail me directly and I'll show you where you can try out AtoK.
peter([email protected])lindsey.jp
Though I warn you. I had to hard reset when I tried it on WM5, so you might not want to try it until you've backed up and possiblty flashed a clean ROM.
May take a while to reply, since mail2web server is on the blink today
Atok cannot be installed in WM5 offically. This is why you get BLANK screen after soft-reset.
This is a famous fact.
But Asukal has done great works for us.
Now Atok was reported to work well with both WM5 & WM6.
So please read this page:
ttp://www29.atwiki.jp/htc3g/pages/13.html
Followed Asukal,
If you want to install Atok in WM5,
after installing Atok, DO NOT soft-reset, then install "Default_SIP_Hermes.cab" immediately.
I dit not use Atok and WM6.

Excuse me, but what is "floating bar" input?!? When you install LetsJapan5 & IME_32J you get STANDARD Japanese IME (Kana, Kensaku & Tegaki) same one like you get with Japanese ROMs...
FLoating Bar: It appears for me if I install Asukal's supplied Microsoft IME. It's like the windows taskbar that floats around the screen and gets in your way.
...
Thank you for the advice about AtoK ... now maybe i'm ready to upgrade to WM6. Where do I get this .CAB you mention?

This one is different, no 'floating bar'.
Make sure you install LetsJapanNo5x first - it's for Japanese font & locale only. Next is IME31J_QVGA, it is for input, you can find it here. & check your email...

Hello,
I checked http://asukal.net/blog/?cat=8&paged=3, and I could find IME_31J_QVGA_F fle, but not IME_32J_QVGA_F; can you put a direct link to that file?
Sorry, spelling mistake... There is only IME_31J...
ahaa. . Zgembo send me a PM with your address. I didn't get an email from you.
http://asukal.net/blog/?p=96 for QVGA
http://asukal.net/blog/?p=95 for VGA
awriiiight.
Thanks Asukal.. It seems some people were confused with the Bagoj one. THAT one gives the floating bars.

Did this really need a thread of its own???
you can ask the Chef himself here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432487&page=79
Detroit Doug
First, sorry to Detroit Doug for continuing this thread!!
Is this your first custom ROM flash??
Which latest version are you refering to, final or beta??
If you had a previous ROM, like 1.27 did Tom Tom 7 work with that?
If you read through the nice short M2d thread from herg in dev&hacking you'll find this issue with some versions of M2d. Because 1.28 has a different version of M2d than 1.27 I'm trying to figure out if that may be the case.
Or.....as DD says ask the chef!!! If he doesn't answer right away it's because he's busy cooking!!
hey jmitr
Yes my first custom flash!
I installed his beta 2 version which is 1.27.
When TomTom worked before it was the latest Bell Rom.
Thanks for the response....any info would be appreciated!
I have TomTom6, it has never stopped working for me.
I will research TT7 probs and get back to you, unless nfsfan comes up with an answer first.

No idea, I use IGO8. Never used TomTom.
Well, TomTom 6 seems to work in all the ROMs.
I googled and wiki'd TT7. I couldn't really find anything that might explain your problem.
My TT is on the storage card, I always remove my card during a flash. After flashing I put the card back in and TT installs automatically. It's never failed.
I suggest a hard rest then try again. If that doesn't work try reflashing to a final ROM and see if it's the beta.
I've got a similar problem, my IGO8 worked fine under 1.27 and now with 1.28 it installs just fine but will not open! what could be wrong?

Any WM6.5 Roms Metro Pcs Friendly?

Yeah man its just a generic carrier ROM. I have a Sprint touch on my nTelos network here in Virginny and it works like a champ. Is your data working? What radio do you have?

i haven't tried any WM 6.5 rom yet, but will try NFSFAN's WM6.5 V6.R2 ROM
please let me know how that goes... right now im just using spb mobile shell 3.0
NFSFANs ROM or ANY generic WinMO 6.5 ROM can work with metro PCS - just put the DCD MetroPCS Carrier Cab on your SD card prior to flashing and once flashed IF you have problems connecting, run the DCD MetroPCS carrier cab and it will install and provision your phone for the provider

read this and goto the link given in that post I believe MetroPCS utilizes another carrier so you can use one of the ones there that matches on your phone
Most the time though NFSFANs ROM works right out the flash, but in case there are the cabs, I just got home and cant remember whom MetroPCS emulates
so if someone remembers before I get the chance to look it up please post it (thanks)
Detroit Doug
Here are the complete details on a MetroPCS Carrier Cab -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...18&postcount=3
Is where I got the info on MetroPCS cab, the cabs are for a mogul but shouldnt matter that much, IF you dont have access/internet then you may want to try these
i finally decided i just want all this sprint stuff on the phone gone .. and i'm going to use spb mobile shell 3.0 and S2U2 and call it a day
look at part 2 of my nfsfan faq in my signature.
I have all carrier cabs (working on getting every mms cab too),
but I have both the carrier and mms cab for you in my faq now!!
mobile shell 3.0 if sweet and it doesnt slow the vogue down at all and is highly customizable maximus_pr pm me if your interested
s2U2 has been reported to be kinda buggy with windows mobile 6.5 if it works at all.
I cannot confirm nor deny as this is only what other have posted at a few threads on ppcgeeks, but I haven't seen anything here but then again I didn't search for it.
wm6.5 ver7 working just great
I have the above rom working perfec, gps,mms and all.
thats is cool codybear i will try it later im not to comfortable with flashing roms just yet but that you for the work you have put into this
thanks for the info
NFSFANS Roms
I have tried the NSFANS rom for a Vogue and it seemed the metro cabs did not help much. in the end the best way to set it up was to flash the custom ROM and then put the wap and mms settings manually. of course you have to download Arcsoft MMS because most of the roms dont come with an mms composer. Great ROM's though. pretty stable...

MMS on T-Mobile with 6.5.X builds

Has anyone found a solution for the extremely small MMS received (and possibly sent) images? I've tried a bunch of CABs and they only allowed for the connection to go through and nothing about size. The only time I've gotten it to work was on the Manila 2.1 builds. Let me know, thanks in advance.
is has to do with the WSPheader....search for it...you should be able to find cab fix ....are you using a cooked rom?
Yes I'm using a cooked rom and thank you! I searched for WSPheader and found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=575652&highlight=WSPheader
post #9 and it worked!
Worked For Me. Thanks.
