because of restriction of WM6.1 we will not be able to change program's icon to high quality one, but what we can do change their appearance in Manila

Each place in program's tab can have 96*96 Icon instead of windows normal icons (32*32). these icons extension are qtc and can be located inside windows directory by serching *.qtc files
Here is my favourite set of icon, including nearly 10,000 HQ icons
Code:

After finding your favourite icon now it must be converted to qtc, I do recommend CFC - THE Manila/TF3D Image Editor
From Tools menu choose Import from PNGs, press Yes and browse location of icon,
it will automatically converted to qtc format, once it's done it is better to change the name to MPI_*.qtc (instead of * put any name which you like)
Now with total commander or Resco explorer copy above file to windows directory.
With any Reg editor program go to following address:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE]\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher
You will see numbers from 0 till 23 (24 place for icons start from left top till right bottom) choose the one you want to change it.
Put new path for the icon in IconPath like:
\windows\MPI_Programs.qtc
it's done now restart your manila and enjoy your new icon
2. Windows Mobile 6.5
If you are using WM 6.5 you can change program's icon directly from windows registry which will effect appearance of icon every where including Manila.
First of all you need to find high quality icon you can also use bluemetalaxe's thread it is full of beautiful icons and if you couldn't find what you are looking then make a request over there.
Now with Reg editor program go to following address:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE]\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start
you will see reg keys similar to shortcut's name in windows start menu
choose the one you want to change
inside the key modify or create String Value (Name = Icon) with value of icon's path
for example:
now do soft reset
enjoy new icon
I used normal .ico file for changing the icon in manilla program launcher.

I need some help..
i search some square icon (in .ico format) to use in the program tab of the manilla. like the one for iphone or the one from htc (but both are to small to the program tab, i think we need some 1208x128 icons, not 64x64)
thanks for the help!
Here are my choices. I decided to make the start menu show categories instead of apps so i have used a registry editor to link each icon to a sub folder in my windows/start folder.
I have also attached the icons which you copy to ppc windows folder and link to them in icon path field.

Manila Start Screen Registry Editing
Hi, I wanted to change the icons in my htc diamond 2 (tmobile compact v) manila program start screen and also to have folders that contain other icons (like games or organiser for eg).
By accessing the following keys (0-23) in regedit you can change values such as name, link, icon and write protect.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\
I did try and add a 25th shortcut, it showed but did not work, will investigate that later.
Also I realised that you can use png's for icons in the manila menu, no need to convert to ico or qtc. (Need to find the optimum png dimensions yet).
I appreciate that some programs may exist to do this from a gui, but this a quick fix and all you need is a ppc registry editor.
MrKaon styler_RO.cab froze Diamond 2 Startup..!!
Hi,
I installed MrKaon styler_RO.cab on my Diamond 2 (TMobile MDA Compact V - UK) and it froze the startup sequence and the phone stuck at the windows mobile boot screen.
I had to do a hard reset to resolve action.
Perhaps it conflicts with TMobile skin files.
Beware anyway just in case peeps..
is for touch HD..

I followed these steps, but the resulting files did not have the .qtc extension. I renamed them like you instructed, adding the .qtc at the end. But when I changed the registry value to point to one of my newly created qtc files, the Icon in the manila programs tab was an empty white square (after restarting manila of course). Did I neglect something in the conversion process? (The png's I used were 96x96)
EDIT: Never mind, I figured out the problem. Apparently, 96x96 pngs are the wrong size. As soon as I scaled one up to 128x128, it worked just fine.

hello!
id like to put new program icones for my PhoenixEx 1.2 manila 2.5, can u send me cab please? if u have slidebar icones too...ill be happy
Thanks for that tricks.
It's quick and efficient on WM 6.5, using any registery editor.
Still, changing the icon from the "software built-in" one to an external PNG files slows down the display of 'programs' tab very much. With 27 apps on my screen, it takes about 5 secs to pop-up. (i use HTC sense)
PNG files specs : size 90x90, between 4 and 14 kb each, located in a folder at the root of the internal memory.
Would a soft reset fix the problem ?
EDIT : Soft rest doesn't fix the problem. Takes up to 10 secs to display page with 26 progs.
Does the problem comes form the icons location, of size in kb ?
Is there any way to change the default built-in icon of every software ?
Good night all

I noticed that a lot of people like another dial skin instead of the standard blue WM5 dialer. There are some problems with the current custom skins available on different WM5 Phones.
So I like to start a "how to" on dialer skinning, so more people developing skins for different kinds of phones.
I would like to invite everybody with some experience to help me complete this thread, so it becomes a sort of Wiki on dialer skinning.
I would also like to invite "graphic designers" to create a database with skins.
Oke let's start:
Edit the DLL
Edit the DLL
If you want bigger buttons you have to edit the DLL
Tooling:
- Resource Editor / Restorator
- signtool.exe (included in .NET 2.0 SDK)
- Certificate (I use the SDKSamplePrivDeveloper)
Steps:
1. First you have to find the right DLL, in most cases it's the phcanrc.dll in the Windows map.
2. Open the file in a resource editor like Resource Tuner or Restorator. In the dialog map you find the different dialogs (portrait and landscape) wich you can edit, in the edit mode you can modify the fields on the dialog (unfortunately you cannot see the edges of the fields, temporarily use of borders can help).
Probably it's better to define a standard size and position for the buttons, so the dll's and graphics can be reused by all our developed skins and dialers.
Momentarily I use the next positions:
Portrait (top-left corner of button)
horizontal positions: 2, 81, 160
vertical positions: 84, 122, 158, 194, 230
button size: 78x35
3. Signing the DLL
The DLL has to be signed before you can use it, I use the signtool.exe from the .NET 2.0 SDK and the SDKSamplePrivDeveloper certificate in the same SDK.
Start the signtool in wizard mode using "signtool.exe signwizard" -> select the dll file -> custom signtype -> select the certificate from file -> browse for the corresponding key file.
I leave other settings default.
DLL Ready.
Hmm.. it would be a very interesting discussion.. And I have a small question.. Is it possible to extract the part of Phone application from Eten Roms and add it to MDA roms??.. It is the part where you can change the skins.. http://smartmania.mobilmania.cz/images/recenze/EtenM700/captures/06.jpg
here is the image sets, I used for my SmartDial BigKey Grass (see post).

I don't know if that's possible... I should say try before you die...
Hmm.. it would be good if you were to state specifically that the skinning app you are refering is the Ethen skin. There are the other dial pad skinning, which I think the buttons are a bit small to my liking. I use the Ethens.
BTW, since we are in this topic. I used to have an idea to 'do' my own skin (Ethen dialpad), but I find getting the buttons to be exact and save to the specific names and such, is a hassle. It would be good, if there were to be a way that I can have 2-3 skin for each screen where you have the 'release' and 'press' of buttons, in calls, etc, that one can easily Photoshop them. Then, there were to be a program to just cut, rename and save them, and possibly generate a preview as well.
Is there software that can do that? I can do that in Java (my C got rusted away long time ago), but I need some precise x-y of the buttons.

Not the Eten Skin but the standard WM5 Dialer.
The buttons and other (label) fields of the standard dialer can be resized and moved with Resource Editor or Restorator as described above.
I made a dialer myself for my QTEK9100 but people with a Verizon XV6700 have a problem sending text messages, so I give them the opportunity to adjust their dialer to a nice looking skin.
It's a hassle, you are right...
In Photoshop you can use slices and layers.

If you were to moved those buttons as you described as above, and refering to your black button skin, isn't that the Eten skin? Or tell me, whats the difference between your dial pad as compared to Eten dial pad?
As for the xy for the buttons, the information you provide
horizontal positions: 2, 81, 160
vertical positions: 84, 122, 158, 194, 230
button size: 78x35
Can be used for me to get a dial pad slicer done. But you've missed the xy for the 'backspace' button as well as buttons for the 'status screen'.
And while we are on this topic, we may be well able to see if anyone is free enough to get us a dialpad changer. AFAIK, to change the dialpad, all you need to do is just replace the BMP files in \Windows (for Eten skin), so it is quite easy to do. I'm so lazy to switch dialpad as per my Today theme, I end up using a grey pad instead of coloured ones.

Some people don't get the ETEN dialer or my dialer see post to work properly on their machine (Verizon TyTN etc.) see the messages in that trhead. So I would like to give them the opportunity to modify their own standard WM5 dialer to a nicer/usable skin.
And it works, because in version 1.3 of my SmartDial BigKey dialer I modified the DLL of a standard WM5 dialer of user "Trinergy" (see also the previous mentioned thread).
Btw. all the xy positions in my dialer are in the attached txt file...
And yes a dialpad changer would be very nice...
Also need WM 5.0 SDK installed?
OK, I modified my phcanrc.dll file using Resource Tuner, and started up the signtool.exe wizard. Everything went OK until the wizard asked for the certificate, which I couldn't find.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like you also need to have WM 5.0 SDK for Pocket PC installed to get the SDKSamplePrivDeveloper certificate that is required for certifying the .dll.
To download the WM 5.0 SDK for Pocket PC from Microsoft, you have to "validate" your installation by downloading Microsoft's WGA spyware.
I'm stuck here, since I really don't want to install the Microsoft Validation / "Windows Genuine Advantage" spyware stuff on any of my computers.
Sigh ...

I also found another way to sign files, in fact a whole tread about signing files... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=848131#post848131 and look for the signcode_294.zip (haven't tested it yet)
this is cool!
i havent yet done any of this and am still unsure where to get all the files. i really want the Vista II by JPL4 skin from paulya on my cingular 8528, except it does not include support for the smart dialer. how can i get it to work? is there a way i can install it and the smart dial modifications you have so it can work properly?
Bummer! Hit another roadblock ...
Well, I modified phcanrc.dll, signed it and loaded it into a .CAB file.
I also added all the Black Key images and some registry keys (assigning images to buttons, etc.) that I found into the new .CAB file as well.
So, I loaded the .CAB file to my XV6700, and ...
... none of the new key positions worked. Rats!
It seemed like the old standard WM5 keys were still in effect, and some of the new Black Key images were in the wrong spots.
I did a little experimenting with webpatrick's existing Big Key Black .CAB file, and found a registry key that "fixed" the problem (sort of):
HKLM/Security/Phone/Skin/ext = \windows\phcanhtc.dll
If phcanhtc.dll gets loaded, the phone keys work! However, when phcanhtc.dll is loaded, I experience other problems: Can't access phone settings, no text messaging, can't call voicemail sometimes.
Does anyone know anything about the phcanhtc.dll file? It isn't loaded by default. And, the registry key above normally looks like this:
HKLM/Security/Phone/Skin/ext = PhoneCanvas.dll
Does anybody know what's going on?

2 webpatrick: I have installed your Black version on my MDAC 3 ... And it's working just fine. Thanks for that Cheers ...
Does that mean you can change this
Code:
CONTROL "", 23008, "MS_PHONE_CONTACTPICTURE", 0, 197, 25, 39, 52
found in phcanrc.dll to make the picture bigger?

Hi - build wm6 themes is v similar to wm5 themes albeit a few differences. I am plannig to write a minitutorial but not sure when this will done because i am cooking a rom at the moment.
For the app use my friend BenThon's app - ThemeGen CE http://www.codeppc.com/telechargements/themegence/themegence.htm
it now runs under vista
Follow my guide for wm5 themes here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=275907
To keep the 3d bars - use basehue to define the colors or Navigation bar color 1 (do the same thing)
1st change for wm6
Do not use these keys in the key section Color_SoftkeyFlatCentre and Color_TitleFlatCenter as they will give you flat bars.
2nd change for wm6
You can use standard format theme or start image theme still in wm6 but most of the wm6 have orientation P & L themes. (portrait and landscape)
Thats all for now.
Tips from BenThon - author of ThemeGenCE
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you cannot figure out all options of ThemeGenCE and nevertheless want to adapt - easily - a theme from this thread (borealcool themes,
black in Black with screen 320x240, same scheme colors) to your wishes, follow these steps :
1) Download one the themes above (in this thread).
2) Launch it in ThemeGenCE. Do not close the program !
3) In the bottom left panel, define the 3 items :
a) Define Folder for saving the new theme.
b) Define File Name for the new theme.
c) Define Internal Name for the new theme.
4) Build your 2 images (with the software you want, Paint, Photoshop... In bmp, gif, jpg or png. Windows Mobile and also Desktop Windows do not care about the extension of the image. It recognize the real format, independently of the extension. That is the reason why, for simplification, in ThemeGenCE I always put ".gif" extension.).
a) one for Portrait Mode. (240x294 pixels)
b) one for Landscape Mode. (320x214 pixels)
5) Copy the 2 images in the same folder as the program ThemeGenCE.
6) Delete the 2 existing files in this folder :
stwater_240_320.gif
stwater_320_240.gif
7) Rename your 2 images :

8) Go back in ThemeGenCE program and save the theme by clicking the fourth button of the main toolbar. You do not see update of the
images in ThemeGenCE but your new theme is now created with your own Images ! I have built the ThemeGenCE program to verify "on
idle" if the images have changed, so new images are incorporated in the theme even if the preview is not systematically updated.
9) You can verify that your new theme is really created. Exit from ThemeGenCE and relaunch it with your new Theme.

Not really - if you change navigation bar color text - it only changes for a second when you apply the theme it then reverts. It was meant for wm2003.
You can change the color of the text of the bottom bar Color_CommandbarText in the wm5\keys section but not the top.
BenThon have you any suggestions? Is there a key we have missed out for the top bar color text?
Friendly, mark
wm2003 themes works too
the upper and button bar is
just like the bars on other versions
as it it's only asigned colour
nothing more

Sorry Mark, "I am a poor lonesome programmer... " and I have not WM6 device!
But I am waiting for your precious advices to adapt ThemeGenCE for WM6, if "theming" without plugins is still actual...
Thanks for your help and your support, Mark.

Thanks BenThon - i think the key in question is the same as with wm5. I am poor 2 and do not have wm5 device to test.
take care
Dialpad CAB
How do you incorporate a customised Dialpad into the theme?
Not possible i hace tried. Although a tsk file is really a cab file it does not work the way its expected. The only way would be to install it all by cab but then the theme would not show under setting\today. (theme would be installed by the images not tsk) Better to do them separately.

I think it is possible !!!
If you don't name the file with TSK extension, but with CAB extension.
I think I have seen this in a forum.
And maybe a soft reset after...
Hi BenThon Yes i have installed this way e.g. with my first orientation themes - only problem is when you switch theme the today screen theme is lost because the theme.tsk was not installed only stwater.gif etc..
It will be ok for a one off installation but a problem when you switch themes.
Friendly - your pal.
ThemeGenCE V 2.5 - Preview WM6
ThemeGenCE version 2.5 has been recompiled with Delphi 2007 for Win 32 which allows to develop Vista compatible applications. ThemeGenCE stays compatible with earlier Windows versions.
Some minor bugs have been corrected.
This version now gives a new preview for the last Windows Mobile OS : WM6.
On the main form, there is a new button (on the right side in the middle) above the preview button already available in ThemeGenCE version 2.0. This button gives a preview for Windows Mobile 2002, 2003, WM5 et WM6, with a preview for "Today" and "Start" pages in portrait and landscape.

How can I put the 3D bars in WM5? To tell you the truth, thats the only attraction I have to WM6.
Algorithm for choosing Bars Hue (upper and lower)
Algorithm for choosing Bars Hue (upper and lower) with WM5 and WM6
Here is the method ThemeGenCE uses to attempt to simulate Microsoft algorithm for the choice of the upper and lower Bars Hue with WM5 and WM6.
Color 5 is the navigation bar color (Color 1).
With WM6 Bars are 3D. But if you define Specific keys like these one :
"Color_SoftkeyFlatCenter"
"Color_TitleFlatCenter"
they become "flat". Thanks to Meschle, for this precision.

Don't forget that ThemeGenCE can make themes for WM 2003 to WM6... I understand that it may be a little confusing for those who have not followed OS evolution. The preview on the main page is for WM 2003. You can have previews for new OS by clicking on the buttons on the right middle of main page.

I have 2 problems...
[1]
I have managed to change the header/title background image for the Sound, Customize Tabs, All Programs & Music Library pages, but now I need to change the colour of the text shown on top of this background.
Does anybody know what registry setting or manila file I need to edit to change the colour of the text in the title bar for these pages?
I have been through every forum topic that remotely mentions text colour/color... but can't find anything relating to these pages. I've also looked through every registry entry on my phone, and can't find anything there either.
I want the colour of the title text on the Sound, Customize Tabs, All Programs & Music Library to be white... as it is on the Settings page (see images below).

I have managed to change the text colour for the title on the Communications page via a registry setting, but I can't seem to find the right manila file for the header/title image.
The Communications page looks identical to the Sound & Customize Tabs pages, yet they don't share the same background images or text colour settings... seems odd!
Does anybody know which manila file relates to this header?
Can anybody help? Thanks, in advance
Well... it's been 6 long days... and it appears nobody knows how to change the text colour on the pages I mentioned above
I've managed to solve problem number [2]... the header/title image for the Communications page is actually a simple PNG containing the header & background in one large image... and not in a manila file. Same goes for the highlight image for this page. Maybe this is because the Comm Manager can be accessed even if TF3D is turned off!
I've also partially managed to solve problem number [1]... the colour of the title text on the Sound, Ring Type, Ringtones, Customize Tabs, All Programs & Music Library pages is controlled by one of the mode9 files (one which initially generated an error in the m9editor, but it turns out I could still edit it).
Anyway... I'm still stuck on how to change the default black text that appears on the All Programs page for a highlighted program. The All Programs page is the only page that doesn't alter the colour of the text for a selected item... items stay in black text whether selected or not... so I need to know how to change that to white. I know which mode9 file relates to the Program Launcher... but there's no entry relating the the colour of the text when highlighted, so I imagine I will have to create an entry. I've tried a few variations, but none of them work... I'm basically taking stabs in the dark here, lol. Does anbody know where in the mode9 file (at what level) I need to insert the text colour reference for a highlighted item?
I've only had my HTC Touch HD since Christmas day... so almost a month... and I've mostly finished 'skinning' it... all thanks you guys. Everything I've achieved so far has been by reading through endless forums. I've not expected anyone to do anything for me... and I'm more than happy to put the work in... but I'm about pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to change 1 simple bit of text colour
Please, please, please.... can anyone even point me in the right direction
While I'm waiting... a few tips
I thought I might share a few things I've learnt & a few problems I've solved... just things that bugged me.
[1] No SMS sent message. I wanted it.
In the registry, go to: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings & set SMSNoSentMsg to 1 (or create a New String Value, if it's not there!)
[2] New SMS/MMS/Email sound. It played once & stopped. Easy to miss a new message. I wanted the sound to repeat.
In the registry, go to: HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications. Find the folder for Reminders {15F11F90-8A5F-454c-89FC-BA9B7AAB0CAD} (inside you'll find a key called "Default"... it's value "Reminders" tells you this is the folder for Reminders... you need to know this so you can locate the folders for SMS/MMS/Email. For now, copy the value of "Options" which should be "1073741845". Now go back to where all the other {folders} are, and find the ones for SMS/MMS/Email and change their "Options" value to "1073741845 (copy & paste). That's it... new SMS/MMS/Email sounds will be repeated!
NOTE: You may find that the sound will not stop playing, even after you've read the new SMS/MMS/Email. I haven't found a way to prevent this (yet!), as it appears WM6.1 doesn't give the command to stop playing these sounds... as it was designed to not have these sounds repeating in the first place. So in the meantime, pressing the END/HANGUP softkey seems to halt the sound immediately!
[3] Threaded SMS. I hate it. I don't want my SENT SMS to appear in my INBOX marked with "Me:". If I sent it... it should be in my SENT items and nowhere else! Plus... seeing one long conversation like "happy new year. you too. my father just died. fancy coming to a party" etc... when each message is months apart and not related to the same conversation... is just ridiculous. Why a choice of thread or not is not included in the options is beyond me!
In the registry, go to: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\OEM & set SMSInboxThreadingDisabled to 1. Threaded SMS is GONE!
[4] Reading an SMS... the page initially jumps to below the "Sent:" information... this is annoying. I usually like to be able to see the date/time the message was sent while I'm replying, and having to always scroll up a bit on every message gets annoying.
Find the file: c:\windows\read_sms.htm and move the anchor tag with an id of "Inbox:top" to just below the first div tag under the opening body tag. No more jumping!
[5] ActiveSync constantly running... me closing it... and it's running again within minutes.
Go through the ActiveSync set-up... tell it to sync MANUALLY, and when you're asked what to sync (contacts, addresses, etc), UNTICK THEM ALL. No more ActiveSync running all the time!
[6] Selecting "English United Kingdom" in my regional settings... still shows "favorites" instead of "favourites" in some of the People menus, and the date on the Home tab is in an American format.
There are 2 manila (XML) files (one US, one GB) for Home, People & People List. Whether you select English US or English UK... manila is using the US version of these files... I don't know why. Find the GB versions of these files (00a49dc2_manila, 4d8aad9e_manila, 5fbd18e6_manila) and rename them to the name of the US versions (1dea52e0_manila, 7fc62a3c_manila, 590ad244_manila). Then edit the page relating to the Home screen (590ad244_manila) and change the date format to "dddd, dd MMMM yyyy" which will give you "Friday, 23 January 2009" instead of the current "Jan 23, 2009".
I hope these help somebody else

You're right... my bad. I've changed my original entry to reflect the correct registry position.
For anybody else wanting to change the colours of the title text....
[1] Open the mode9 file "5c9aa261_manila", and find the colour reference for "TitleText" (which refers to the title in the main TouchFlo Tabs) & "TitleTextLowLayer" (which refers to the title in the Sound, Ring Type, Ringtones, Customize Tabs, All Programs & Music Library sub pages of TouchFlo). Change the colours to whatever you like, and "save as". Copy this edited manila file over to your device & replace the existing one.
[2] The colour of the title for the Communications page isn't controlled by the above manila file... you have to change a registry setting instead....
Go to HKLM\Software\HTC\CommManager and find the key called "TexColorSetting". It contains a lot of hex colour codes... the first 6 digits being "50 50 50", which is the dark grey colour of the Communications title. Change that to whatever colour you want!
Did you manage to change the white background color from the music library tab?
I'm searching everywhere for it but cannot change it.
If i use the background for all tabs the '3d' grid disappears but the white background sticks ..

I hadn't even tried to do that, because I want my Music Library background to stay white.
However, I've just done a bit of experimenting on your behalf, and can confirm that you can have the same background in the Music Library as you have in all other tabs. (or a different background if you prefer!).
You need to edit the Mode9 file "5c9aa261_manila" (in m9editor), and find the section that relates to "BackgroundLevel0" & "BackgroundLevel1".
Copy the 2 properties found in "BackgroundLevel0" as shown in the pic below, and paste them into "BackgroundLevel1". You'll also need to DELETE the "Opacity" property from "BackgroundLevel1".
Basically... your file should look like the below image!

it works perfectly
and now to find a way to put a custom background behind it instead of the sprint_bg one
The image called "Manila_sprint_bg" relates to file "4a087e41_manila".
Simply edit that file (using Manila Editor) and use whatever image you want!

So will replace the location for the level 1 to refer to a different image (or see if I can add a new manila file) as I want it to be different.

Thanks for the tweaks. Here below i explain a bit simply to users like me (i.e. "dummies)
Enter to above registry using some reg editor program like SKTools for example. If OEM is not preseent, create a key with this name. Then enter in the key folder and create a string named SMSInboxThreadingDisabled with value 1.
===========
To change read_sms.htm use total commander, navigate to windows\read_sms.htm, use the edit function, then cut/paste below the first div tag (its little above cut item.
That's it.
I really like the new WM6.5 start menu especially the new icons however as usual M$ always do a half job! They left out certain folder icons i.e. new folder, media etc... So when you try to organize your start menu and create new folders you get the old ugly bitmap folder icons of WM 6.1 which just looks out of place in the new WM 6.5 start menu!! Yes I know you can use custom png icons with great utility such as mushipkw's hComber v0.1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=507299
However I wanted the folder’s to match the new png folder icons from M$, so decided to rebuild the icons to the following; New Folder, Connectivity, Multimedia, Tools, and Web.
Now I’m happy my start menu is organized with matching folder icons, I can sleep now!!
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So if you’re like me and want the same follow these steps:
1) Using the built in File Explorer go to Windows\Start Menu\Programs and create the following new folders: Connectivity, Multimedia, Tools and Web. Now when you come back to your start menu you should see these new folders you have created with the ugly old WM 6.1 folder icons!
2) Now install the attached cab Extra WM6.5 Start Folders, soft reset and enjoy, you can now organise your programs according to these folders using the file explorer!!
Also with a bit of xml editing I have re-sized the start menu icons so they are now slightly larger which IMHO looks much better on my HD than the default size tiny icons! I have attached the cab WM 6.5 Medium Size Start Icons, just install and soft reset!
P.S. I have also attached the Folder Icons PNG's which has the New Folder so you can do whatever you want with them!
Here are some more folder icons here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4001595&postcount=15 many thanks to jsmith8858!
and some more here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4072931&postcount=1 thanks to tboy2000!

hey, nice work on the thread, can i ask for some advice?

im particuarly interested in the Rank and Favorite order.
I have been messing with this for a number of weeks, and it seems to be not so straight forward, i was under the impression that the first item in the top left (usually the "Home" icon) would be 1 then moving accross to the left would be 2 etc etc
But this is not the case as i can see your cab has numbers like "986" in the rank!!
thanks in advance for your help

Initialy I did the same thing as you until I just exported all the default reg values from HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start and looked at the actual rank reg values of each program link i.e.Home, Phone, Messaging, Settings etc... and saw they were completly random ilogical decimal value anyhow I jotted down the relevant rank value so I knew where each items position is after it was case of applying these values to the programs link of my choice as to where I want them to be in the start menu!
P.S. I have noticed that these default rank reg values varies from rom to rom so what value worked for one rom will not work on a another i.e. start menu order wil not be the same!

Icons
Ive notice theres really only one icon thats missing from the group if it could be made that would be great and appreciated a navigation or gps how ever you want to call it icon thanks.
More Icons
thanks for the great icons! I went ahead and fooled around and created some more -- games, nav, accessories, etc. Most, if not all, of the images were found at iconfinder.net, and I used Paint.NET to create the new ones. They are a little rough, but they look decent.
Included in the zip are two folder sets -- set "a" is a more traditional "sideways open-folder" style set of icons, set "b" is using the "wm6.5" folder icons and using your PNG's as a starting point. Each icon's name is prefixed with "a_" or "b_".
Again, I take no credit for any artwork whatsoever in creating these, I just put them together for my own use and thought I'd share.
Hope someone finds this useful!

Nice work jsmith8858!!
Hi great work, thanks for sharing this with us.
Would someone mind putting up the default wm 6.5 start menu icons and the text messaging icon? I changed them but forgot to back the up before I did and now I can't change them back to match this set you have made. Thanks!
EDIT: nvm, found them

This is a remake of Showaco's file changer, remade to work with the titanium .dll's, .cpr's, and now .png's. For anyone that's new here and hasn't heard of the filechanger, Here's original thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=413393 .
To use this, once you have placed it on your phone. Run the Titanium FileChanger2.mscr. It will ask which type of file you want to find and change, pick one and hit OK. Next, the File System Viewer will open and you will need to navigate to where you keep the file and choose it. Click OK, and it will ask you if you want to set the file change. Push Yes or No, and it will do the rest.
You can install these 2 files(in the zip below) anywhere on your phone as long as they stay within the same folder. They can be in main or storage, program files, my documents, wherever you want. Once placed, you could create a link to start menu. Your cpr and dll files can be place wherever you want also, and do not have to be in the same folders. They could be scattered as long as you know where to look. [Quoted from Showaco's Original]
Once you download my Titanium FileChanger2 .zip , extract the files, and drop the entire folder in your phone (preferably on your sd card), move the .ttf files(inside font and cpr folder) to the windows directory folder, and reboot to register the fonts. Once that's done, you can now use the T.FileChanger2 to mod your homescreen. I hope you guys like them
Now to my new feature!!
the latest thing is transparent softkeybar wallpapers, and as you can see, I've added the feature that will allow the use of multiple of papers, without the need of making one and having to drop it on the windows directory to overwrite the black_softkeybar.png.
Now like the .cpr's and .dla's, you'll be able to choose the .png's , you'll be able to make your papers, make your bottom bars, place them on the supplied folders, and use the T.FileChanger2 to navigate thru the device and select which bottom bar to use, let the app do it's thing , and after reboot, go and select the matching wallpaper and that's it.
I had to rework the mortscript 'cause it didn't want to activate the titanium refresh.exe for the .cpr's after the addition, so I've added a CHomeRefresh.exe that you need to place in the same place as the T. FileChanger2.
I made some wallpapers and matching transparent softkeytbars, for those who don't know how to make them, and also included two new .cpr's with fonts. You will need to use one of my .cpr's to get my clock icon to display on your clock panel.
Happy Customizing....Roloracer

PS: If there's any font someone want's me to make a .cpr for, pm me and let me know which font and I'll happily will do so.
Also for anyone that want's to revert back to the black softkeybar , to use regular wallpapers, I've added a .zip with the black_softkeybar.png here. Just add it to your bottom bar folder and select with Titanium FileChanger2.
Reserved for more panels!

This is made with titanium panels , and titanium.cpr, NRGZ Energy WM6.5 uses the sliding panel homescreen, so because of the different size in the panels it wouldn't display properly , same with the custom font .cpr. Sorry
im having trouble getting this to work. i have 1.3 of the 3vo rom
i downloaded the attached file, copied to memory card, move font to correct directory, rebooted, installed cab, set .cpr file then set .dll and rebooted, no change in panel color but i have the new font
any thoughts?

which one did you use? if you chose bronzeres.dla from the folder, it's the default one and you won't see a change. Try a different color! (bronzeres/color.dla)

home screen's bottom panel color. how?
Hi roloracer
thanks for your effort.
How did you change the look of home screen's bottom panel. (if possible color). If i change the color scheme, it won't change the home screen bottom color. i am using 3VO 6.5. any idea?
thanks.

the color on the bottom bar is part of the rom , the only way to change it, (to my knoledge) is with smarttoolkit rc09 , once you install it, you should just be able to use the base hue app on the phone to change the color of it. Smarttoolkit takes over the bottom task bar.

Why you guys changed the default bottom panel behavior? It is more flexible and customizable if you keep the original panel. why we need to use smarttoolkit rc09 to get standard behavior !!!. please atleast next release keep the original...

the smarttoolkit is just a windows vista like interface app that gives you the option to do that, and do skinning also. He probably just wants to be able to match the bottom bar color to the panel color. You don't have to use the smarttoolkit if you don't want.
Will this work if you're using pudgedaddy's Titanium panels on Energy 6.5 Rom?

I should work fine for the panels (.dll), but DO NOT USE IT for the .cpr
Kudos!!
I am using this along with pudgedaddy's Titanium panels, and awilaman's TitaniumWeather panel, and it works perfectly. Make sure to use only the .dll files, for if you use the .cpr's it will mess everything up. (Trust me, I know from experience ) I've got it set up just like I like it, quite transparent so that I can view the background on the home screen.
Again, thanks Roloracer. Keep up the great work.

Honestly , if you go on your pc to windows explorer/my computer/mobile device, and you open the device , you'll find the windows folder(aka- windows directory) it can be dropped in it, or in the folder named fonts, within the windows folder.
If you go in your phone to start menu/acessories/resco explorer and click on it, go down to windows and click on that, and now you're in the windows directory, either drop it in there or, you should see the fonts folder in there, and reboot. Let me know if you need any additional help.
thx roloracer for your help it worked,I put a new font on the phone and everything worked except, 2 problems though ,I tried my font and it worked ,tried your font didnt work, and also I cant use titanium configurator to customize my panel anymore, other than that very awesome to have that flexibility to change my font thx
