http://www.divx.com/mobile/

I was thinking bout trying core player, but dont wana buy it to find out it doesn't work.
Kinoma player you say? Mmm never heard of it. If it works i love you
I also found a great program for converting mp4a to mp3! could do a whole folder worth, i got 880 songs i need to convert ya see. Problem was, beibng a trial they wanted me to wait 5 seconds inbewten each song and click continue! i was like :O that take days!
Cheers for the suggestions i shall check em out.
:EDIT:
Just thought id update you. Coreplayer does indeed play mp4a. Thank you very much, i will also check out kinoma player to see if it is just a nicer program to use. cheers again
And i hadn't even spotted the above comment, mmm i may check that out too.

itunes for ppc !!!!

i have seen this- http://www.pocketmac.net/products/ppctunes/ has anyone got it ad if so is it any good?
is there any progams which does the same job which are free??
I tried it for about 10min. before i trashed it from my PPC and PC. I added about 20 albums to my iTunes share. When i went to access it on my PPC, the app went crazy asking me for a dll that it couldn't find. The dll was in fact in the app's directory. I trashed it as it IS trash, and the fact that it will not read ogg codec (go figure). I would recommend any free player that will read mp3, wma, ogg, asf type, and access your shared network.
i ended up buying it. it worked for me. it takes the files out of your predefined playlist and transfers them into wma (not if you don't want it to) then every time you sync it adds the files to your ppc.
the only problem i have got is that it wont delete any of the old files which i have removed from the play list
i would rate it 5/10

Best Media Manager?

What is the best media manager out there for syncing music and podcasts onto the Dash?
When I Activesync to a Vista box using Bluetooth, the Dash does not show up as a device in Windows Media Player. I can however cruise the file system on my Dash via Windows Explorer and that is how i get content onto the Dash, but it would be better to have an organizer to keep music and podcasts propoerly organized.
I'm running Kavana WM6.1
Try POCKET PLAYER v3.7
Supposedly it is able to sync and do what you want it to do.
One thing I can say for it, it is THE best media player I have used on the smart phone by far.
It has PODCASTS, INTERNET RADIO, WMV support for starters and tons of features.
Try it out!

I installed Pocket Player 3.7. It does look a nice player than WMP.
I'm still looking for something that sits on my PC to manage my music that interfaces nicely with something like Pocket Player. i.e. like iTunes where I can download the podcasts and then sync them over to the Dash.
Maybe I resign myself to a copy and paste using File Explorer.

Going to try Media Monkey myself, even though i tend to use memory card & card reader as it's fast on transfer.
You see on gixxum's post's it has United States California?
haha. why would you think im british? they are the only people that tend to be as big or a bigger prick than me?
if you look at some of my posts, you will see i actually do help people. im only "me" when someone gets lazy and expects others to do the work. take the post i replied to from you:
"I'm still looking for something that sits on my PC to manage my music that interfaces nicely with something like Pocket Player. i.e. like iTunes where I can download the podcasts and then sync them over to the Dash.

see, here is my issue. i did a google search expecting to see nothing. one would assume thats like the first thing you would do...well to my surprise, there are quite a few. and your closing line sealed the deal for me "Maybe I resign myself to a copy and paste using File Explorer"...you gave up and decided "there is nothing that manages my media how i want it to".
so my approach is more to prevent you from being lazy next time, not to cut you down. but next time you have a question you might think "i better cover all my bases BEFORE i post a new thread so i can avoid that PRICK gix"
ha ha i kno right its right there california.. why u ask if hes british anyways? thats weird

Maybe he's coming out of the closet too
I ask because I got whacked over the head by the flying sarcasm.
I did a search using that Google thing and found MediaMonkey, Winamp, etc. i just wondered (out loud) if there was anything I'd missed that the folks here might have found.
MediaMonkey seems to do good job syncing everything to the storage card via usb. I've given up on the bluetooth sync. i cannot get WMP or Media Monkey to see my device over bluetooth.
Cheers!
(full disclosure; I am British and have been enjoying the fruits of the golden land for about 12 years now)

I can't help you with the Itunes Sync part since I don't use Itunes and never will; however, as for media players these are what I have installed and use pretty regularly
WM Media player
HTC audio manager
S2P really great but no playlist support unfortunately
TCPMP for video's and audio and I use this for internet radio- really great
MortPlayer - aslo really great and skinable with some really nice finger friendly skins available for download.
All of these are freeware and work perfectly on my HTC touch Elf. Unsure if any can sync with Itunes though or even how to sync with Itunes, but all worth checking out in my opinion
Again, cant help with the iTunes part but PocketPlayer is a great one. works great on my dash and looks nice too
Pocket player and pocket tunes are very good.
PocketPlayer defo the best music player, not sure but think you could use MediaMonkey to sync.
Thanks everyone, I really appreciate you suggestions, I'm trying Pocket Player now,
COREPLAYER is the best one for me.
I used pocket player and tcpmp somtimes, But i almost exclusively use COREPLAYER . I know it's not free, but one of the best players out there.
pocket tunes can sync with itunes
Wow, Pocket Tunes, looks hot and iTunes support ooof, I like, I like, I'm so vested in iTunes and kind off like it, my iTouch, etc etc.
Quick Question when i go to a site like streams4pda.com on my phone to try and stream something it opends up windows media player and gives me an error mssg what do i do
anyone? different media player?
For Mpeg Vids
I use "Pocket TV"..The best for me, No lag time or lip sync problems like I find with all the rest.

Any FREE media players for Dash?

As we all know Windows Media Player is a memory hog. Trying to send a text while listening to a song seems to take hours. Can anybody please tell me if there is a free media app thats better than Windows? I dont care much about video just something thats not so heavy on the phone that plays MP3 and WMA.
I did do a search and all I saw was people recomending PocketPlayer, but that costs money. I did find DivX.cab (comes with set-up files too), Im about to try it out but i really dont like installing extra software on my PC just for a media player on my phone. THanks for any help folks!
EDIT: DivX is only video, but it looks really nice for those of you who like to watch vids on their phone.

Try nitrogen 0.3.1 by microfi. not sure if it supports wma yet but he is working on more and more all the time. can make ur own skins aswell.
cool! ill check it out and wma is no biggie since i can always convert, I just use wma since the files are typically smaller.
tcmp is a good one
For M-peg files / PocketTV is the best! No lag and perfect lip sync with no skipping.
Thanks everybody for the help.

No PocketPlayer is the best Audio Player about with far more feature than CorePlayer with regards Audio.
The same in reverse CorePlayer is primaraly for Video and very good @ it.
So pair the 2 together and you have Multimedia covered.
ahh rather stick with the classic tcpmp, it ca do both..tried coreplayer..album art doesnt display it as big as tcpmp can

Yes it can do both, TCPMP is just the early release of CorePlayer, to which is why CorePlayer is far more advanced in it's playing capabilities, wouldn't use CorPlayer to play audio or TCPMP as they where mainly designed for Video, where as PocketPlayer has alot of features and is pristine when playing audio.

yeah! pocket player is my main music player, not only for local content in my phone, but also has the web guide that you can search web streams by category or genre , does podcast, you can bookmark streams, you can even use your regular bluetooth headset to listen to music, although I wouldn't recomend it, unless you have a stereo bluetooth headset. It even has an equalizer you can adjust to your liking.

The very best media player

hi,
i'm looking for an awesome media (video) player for my phone.
i'm looking for a good video player that can play a lot of different file formats.
avi, mpg, mpeg, mp4, wmv, etc.etc.
on my laptop i use VLC, and i really love it.
but i can't find a mobile version of VLC.
anybody has a clue for an awesome videoplayer for my phone?
The latest version of TCPMP plays a whole slew of formats. If you want a media player with alot of functionality, Kinoma Player (shareware) has many different functions. Not sure all the formats it plays.
There's Core Player, a branch of TCPMP that is a pretty smooth video player as well. Finally, DivX has an app for WinMo as well, so you could give that a try.
tcpmp and core player are the best on my opinion
i've looked up tcpmp on the web, and found a page about it on http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-tcpmp-v0-72rc1.html but it doesn't seem to be the right one.
when i instal the cab, the program says on startup "unexpected program error, send crash.txt to the developers......".
so it doesn't run on my pocket pc.
i tought i found the tcpmp website with http://coreplayer.com/ but it costs me 24 bucks.
the free version is very difficult to find.
any ideas?
i found yet another release on this forum.
that one seems to be working a bit....
but the movie quality sucks big time.
the sound is on and off all the time.
the picture is shocking...
it's looks like the phone has to work really hard to let me see half a second each time.
it's like:
the audio........... is not .......... like it's ............. supposed........... to be..............
(and the video is the same).
am i doing sometyhing wrong?
I had to look really hard also for a 6.1 TCPMP. Then on this site there seem to be quite a few different ones. I got mine at http://www.mobilitysite.com/boards/1059593835-post107.html it says it is version 4.0.3. But it is open source so people do whatever they want with it. Mine is pretty ugly to look at, but it has always worked (except for the initial crashing - see below). Would like a nicer looking version.
Which one did you download?
This fixed my crashing "If you are having issues with no video or the crashing issue on the HTC HD2 this may help you, You will need to go into the Video settings and change the Direct Draw --> GDI and it should resolve the issue you were having."
i don't remember which one i downloaded... wnloaded about 5 of them from different sites.
i installed all of them (one at a time) to see which one worked best.
the one i've got is worked the best way... but like i said it's shocky... to say the least.
i'll try the one you just send me.
i don't care for looks, i just care for video quality.
i can't believe that a simple viedeoplayer can be so difficult to find on windows mobile.
isn't the whole idea of mobile windows, the idea that you have a mobile version of windows?
and isn't windows also (largely) used for different kinds of media? e.g. video, music etc...
windows media player is the best...

it has to be able to play avi, mpg, mpeg, wmv, mp4 and a lot more if possible.

looks are not important, performance is!
till thus far, tcpmp isn't good enough (it.... plays..... movies...... like..... this...... ).

You can access them from the HTC album tab just like your photos. That, or tap them from explorer.
EDIT: Granted they are in the MPEG-4 format you get from, for example, the Videora converter I linked.

i'm not to sure how good the quality of the file is.
all i know is, it's a 700 mb avi file that plays beautifully on my old laptop with VLC running on win xp.
now i'm trying to play that same file on the video player you linked, but the quality is awefull.
the audio stops and starts playing every few seconds, and the video just 1 frame a second (and every now and then, it skips a few frames to catch up with the audio).
i personally just think that nobody bothered to make a descent video player for win mobile. OR (and please forgive me for saying this), the phone simply sucks totally (mostly because it has win mobile on it....).
