Stock ROM apps - A Question - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Am I right in thinking nobody is realising nice little tweaks and cool TF3D apps for the Stock roms/Stock Manila anymore?
Everything I try either has to have a WM6.5 on it (i.e. cooked rom) or the latest manila (i.e. cooked rom).
Just like to hear somebody comment on that because as a user who has had his Artemis buggered before by over tweaking in terms of ROMs I'm loathe to do it with my HD and want to stick with stock...but can't get anything nice other than a brand new UI (SPB MS etc...) which is not needed.
Ideas, thoughts, comments?

**bump** **bump**

Great Idea I use my Hd only for business and dont need to supe it up but adding new apps to improve my phone is always welcome, it seems a lot of users are getting the phone just to play with, it is a phone after all or am I wrong

My experience with all those ROMs and idea about an ideal ROM

Hi,
Last few days I've been trying a bunch of unofficial ROMs.
Here are my experience and ideas about this whole situation.
* There should be a "TIDY" ROM thread, or a wiki page, (including comparison if possible). I'm willing to start the initial work, if needed.
* More sticky threads needed, so that each team/individual can post in those threads, and that only.
What I liked best was the Diamond Project and then Dutty's "hybrid" ROM. But neither was error-free. Then I've been through totally messed-up ROMs, hardly reverted back, to the stock ROM and tweaked myself.
IMO, Those ROMs should be more "generic", so that more people can use em, and they should be avoiding "geeky, cute" graphics (salut, Diamond Project's beating-hearts ). ROMs should also be looking more "professional" (see 1.93.456.2's boot screen).
Anyway, keeping on MY ideal ROM idea, it would be great if it had these:
* OTA updates (AppToDate) looks very promising
* No personal applications (tomtom, skype, other BS games) should be included.
* Opera 9.5 b1 is out, AND AWESOME should be included.
* No TouchFlo3d Themes, PLEASE
* Should be tweaked well. (And applying whole set in the tweaks thread is not "tweaking well")
* All unnecessary stuff should be removed (incl. bunch of wavs, images)
* And yea, should be based on the latest official ROM :b
Anyway, this is my two-cents
Nice thread, thanks maybe it can help cookers to bring up what really the needs are.
So I'd like a modulable ROM, as the GM360D Lite edition. I'd like the latest core and as an Elive distro ("beta" docet ) all the last-minute nightly builds of each component.
I would be useful for developers as well as for those want check the last miiles of any package.
Anyway I guess Opera is a must have, as well as a registry editor, a PDF viewer and player (VLC or CorePlayer).
I use also SyncMate for Mac (I have a MBP) and it could be insert as default (driver is less than 40kb).
I'd like also a touchable Calendar (XDA docet ) and a VNC Client.
I can't forget the wonderful display of my Diamond then I want a stunning GUI.
Makes sense, there is a wiki page already and anyone can edit it I guess ..
Personally I would prefer Skype and Tomtom to Opera, it is not really usable on such compact device regardless of what version it is ..
Good idea....imo, it should be a thread with all the "slang" for ROM flashing....for some newcomers (like me) words like SPL or RUU sound scary...
You are the first, (wanted to write the similar
Absolutely agree!
By me, I prefer "lite" line. More choice for user's fantasy
Impossible to make "universal" image.
Duttys_Diamond_HybridV1 my choice at last moment. The fastest & stable enough. Very smart programs list. But... not ideal, of course.
May the best way - this scheme, aka "modular":
"kernel" - the minimalist image;
"modules" - list of optimized programs for this image.
"tweaks" - .regs for image or program.
So....
i like CLEAN ROMS without any Additional programms (like youtube, googlemaps...) and NO TF3D , and provide all them in CAB files so u can instal any 1 u like manually or per UC!
The thing is, every single person wants something different from the roms, thats why theres so many different cooks who make different roms and even different versions of those roms but you can never satisfy everyone.
I do a lot of work on Vista Sidebar gadgets, i start off making a gadget for myself, then i decide to release it purely so the wider community can enjoy it too. Then I get a few people who want an odd feature or two so I put it in because it'll make them happy. Then by the time everything is said and done people are moaning at you because you put in too many things and it's bloated and doesn't do EXACTLY what every user wants. I imagine this is a similar scenario to what the cooks here go through.
I don't really have a point, but I guess I'm trying to say is be grateful of the Devs, it's not easy trying to please everyone and what you want isn't necessarily what others will want.
I do agree with the idea of basic and lite roms though, they allow the devs to make optimised roms and the user to install whatever apps they want.

Well, actually what I meant was that applications like Skype, Tomtom, or other installable applications should not be included
Btw, I wasn't expecting this much "good" replies.
I hope cooks -especially Diamond Project members- will hear those comments.
I completely agree. It's like building your own computer and catering it to however you see fits vs. buying a pre-built computers with a bunch of unneeded software taking up spaces (im not discrediting cookers with their own unique ROM! They did a fantastic job!). If someone could baked a fast, barebone ROM and give users the choices of installing their own programs, that'll be fantastic.
i think all of us agree to have a stable ROM with biggest Storage and RAM, and that can be reached only with CLEAN ROMs.
I have 1 question, is it Possible to have a ROM Package which ask u before Flashing starts, which Softwares do u want to include? an Interface with a list of programms to un/check? just a thought!

Looking for bare WWE rom

Hi there,
I'm new to the Diamond and I'm looking for a bare/naked ROM. I searched the forum but the staggering list of ROMs is overwhelming me.
I'm using SPB Shell I don't need TF3D. I also don't need all the other programs because I'll only install the ones I need as cabs afterwards. So I'm basically looking for a bare ROM that only contains the necessary drivers (if such things are needed) for all the features of the Diamond (and useful Tweaks) but without all the 3rd party software (HTC TF3D, HTC album, Adobe etc etc.
I made the observation (with my S110 and X500) that those bare ROMs are the most responsive and fastest and leave as much room as possible for programs you really want and need.
I hope you understand what I'm looking for and can give me a hint as which ROM to look.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498873
Thank you very much. This is what I was searching for. Does this also support the g-sensor and ati?
yeah, i think this ROM can support all , now i'm checking this ROM, i hope, hope and hope ...
I don't want to sound disrespectul and admire the hard work the rom cookers put into their creations. But most of those roms are not for me.
I for one don't use most of the oem and bundles software - heck, I don't even ust TF3D - but rely on my own software I bought over the years. Those are small, efficient tools instead of the overly bloated programs that are todays standard. I'm a big fan of SPB Mobile Shell (the latest 2 version, not the 3 version), it's very fast and does consume only minimal RAM compared to TF3D.
I don't even use MMS, I use email. That's why most of the roms are overly bloated for my need and I appreciate a naked rom that is based on an up to date official rom. I have to depend on my device and I'm often unsure what hidden bugs may lie deep inside those heavily modified roms.

M88

Us M88 users would love a pop at wm6.5 Rom but it seems that no one seems to know anything about this phone.
In order to create a Rom for this device what is needed, is there a way to extract the driver base from a phone running 6.1? what is it we are going to need to do in order to progress?
It's a shame, actually this isn't a bad phone - I would not compare it to the Iphone really even though it looks the same, it's just a windows mobile phone that most people would like to remove the Iphone launcher that comes with it anyway and use a better shell like pointui or spb.
Anyway, going off track a bit here, I would have a go at creating a 6.5 rom myself for this phone, but I will need the help of some one that's done this before and knows the pitfalls when creating a rom for a phone that's not that well known.
So if anyone fancies giving me a hand?
Mike
This seems to be the theme of the m88 phone! what no one at all willing to lend a hand?
Mike
Mike,
Tell us HOW we can help!
I would like to contribute if I can.
Just tell - how!
Ok, this is one way you could help, it so happens that my M88 has the newer 6.1 wm, although I would have like to install 6.5 it's still a newer version than some have.
I've been taking a large interest in the pointui project and am currnenty runnig a really nice interface on my M88, pointsence, it would be a really cook thing if I knew how to create a cooked rom out of what I have installed,
and then everyone could make use of this cool theme, I am guessing that when you use a cooked Rom with installations incorperated into it then you will free up more memory on your phone as you main memory wouldn't have as much stuff phisically installed, as it will be part of the Rom.
I guess the point I'm slowing getting to is, I don't know how to create a rom, and the M88 kinda seems to need someone to get things moving, if it has to be me then I'll have a bash, but I'll need some guidence.

WM 6.5 Classic + Lite Roms??

Anyone Know Where Can I Find A Classic and Lite wm 6.5 rom??..i searched here but i didnt find what i need...i found classic rom only or lite rom only...can anyone help
arrgh what exactly do you need, cause there is plenty of wm6.5 roms there, so i can't really understand what couldn't you find?
Yes, if you are a LOT more specific, I would be willing to cook you one real quick. It would be based on my last release of 23569. This has the buttons on the bottom of the screen instead of the top.
What features exactly do you need? Bluetooth? Office? Themes? Titanium??? Try to be really specific, and I will attempt to get you what you need.
Hey Supersport

First of all thanx for all the good job and improvments you're making...
i downloaded your 23504 Blue & Lite and it works fine and its so cool. but could you plz make a ROM that is more power saver and also lite and fast.
I myself dont pay much attention to the beauty and ... but what is important to me is a lite, fast and stable rom and the one that doesnt drains battery fast and also i dont need many applications existing in these RMS...just some essential ones ...
BTW it would be very nice of you if you put a voice recoder in your ROM.
Thx in advnace,...man,so much i asked you,i just meant it would be much better for those who use their PPC only as a phone and besides they need just a few applications useful to them like voice recorder and etc... i appeciate all your effort and good work till now...

Good Morning persguy;
Can you tell me exactly what you would like in this ROM? I see Voice Recorder, but what other items do you want? When people say they want the essential items, I'm not sure what that person thinks is essential. If you specifically state what items are important to you, I will do my best to accommodate your request.
Do you prefer the start menu at the Top, or Bottom? Do you prefer WM 6.1 or WM 6.5?

Basics as far as making a rom that has a calendar, task manager, camera, weather ect. but lose all the youtube and twitter and parlingo type apps. Those things can be added if you want them but not taken away once cooked in. There a couple lite roms like this but in a way they are too lite. Im still trying to figure out how to install an energy rom type weather on the super lite rom. Maybe Im just slow or I missed something.

The Energy Series are anything BUT light. Unfortunately, to get those basics you speak about, it makes the ROM non-lite. I can cook a rom with the M2D interface (with weather) with unneeded tabs disabled and remove many of the 'Extra' packages if you like, but it will not be considered a Lite ROM. You can also customize that ROM using my Kitchen. This way you can add or remove any variables you like.

I had once tomme45i 6.1 ROM and it was really great but had some problems like i couldnt recieve files via bluetooth and some other minor problems.
I'm looking for a fast 6.5 not draining battery. The design is not important to me,and i just need basic stuff like calender, media player, office, voice recorder,...as im a medical practitioner i would install some medical applications myself but dont need professional mobile applications or any fancy ones,games,...by the way quickmenu is real cool...
Sorry guys for being late to reply.
ok..what i mean is that i see here many wm 6.5 roms in the classic way (they look like wm 6.1) but they are full of unwanted applications ..so i was wondering if anyone know where can i find a wm 6.5 classic rom and to be a lite rom which doesn't contain alot of applications.

HTC HD - BlackStone, my "Tweaked" Final Version.

Hello EveryOne!
I'm here since some weeks now, to look, try and improve everything. This, in order to build a final version of my HTC Blackstone in perfect accordance with my demands.
I mean:
Look, Speed, DailyUse, No Freeze, No Bugs, whatever the program I use. And I won, got the perfect one!
Please see here under:
A) Look:
Screens are in attachment...
Well it is sober, but that's what I like. My Htc BlackStone looks what it is: a BlackStone.
Sometimes, when I see what people ask here to developpers, I laugh and think: "Oh Gosh! Why don't they ask for a washmachine in their cell-phone too?".
B) Rom WM 6.1 Manila 2.1, and Radio:
The ROM is - HTC_Touch_HD_MR_2009_RUU_BlackStone_HTC_FRA_1.56.406.1
and the Radio - Radio_52.62.25.34_1.13.25.24
Why these ROM and Radio? Because they are the official of HTC, much easier for me to customize than some beautiful cooked I found and tried here, as Miri's, Dutty's, KWbr's or Panoshka's.
I tried other official versions, and I honestly don't see a meaningful difference, except that some added programs couldn't work properly.
I think the most simple it is, the best it works... So, even if mixing WN 6.1 with Sense 2.5, or WM 6.5 with Manila 2.1 works, the result seem to me too complicate. As well, making deep changes increase risk of instability, bugs, especially by adding other third party programs.
In fact, if you are developper yourself, you know what you do, then you can fix problems. But if you're not, then it's better to stay on one's level, without pretention or arrogance, and just try to customize with simple things...
C) Added programs, (IN THIS ORDER, laughing!):
01-BS_Rilphone_1_13_25_24.cab
02-NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab
03-Tnyynt SD TuneUP.cab
04-IPC_Black_Calculator.cab
05-Black Dialer EN.cab
06-Whiteglow Transparant Clock.cab
07-Glass icons.cab
08-Dutty's NoTopCurtain.cab
09-Diamond_TF3D_Config_Setup.cab
10-HD Tweak 0.5.4_French.cab
11-Celogeek_tweak_20080808.cab
12-mUn background4allpages.cab
13-HushSMS-v0.6beta.CAB
14-ACR Version 1.2.4.CAB
15-Express News 1.0.39.cab
16-DeluxeMoon.cab
17-BattLog0.2.3.130.zip
18-CorePlayer v1.3.6 Build-7427 for PPC.cab
All those programs can be found on the site, except for item 15-Express News and 18-Core player, I found on the websites using "search".
D) My comments:
Well, today, a cellphone can be use for quite everything: as GPS, Radar detector, remote control or...phonecalls!
Mine is fast, stable, safe, and does what I want efficiently:
Phonecalls, contacts, texts, mails, news, websurf, meteo, pictures, movies, music, FM Radio, and the Moon for fun...
I don't need more, and with this config, it is a rocket as fast as the new phones i tried: Iphone4, HTC Desire or Samsung Galaxy S.
I was about to buy a new one of these, to be "up to date", but I don't see the utility anymore!
A good config on a Blackstone is a MUST.
Best regards,
BobbyTrash
Ps: To perfect this look, I was looking for a ".cab" to make Topbar and Bottombar transparent, I didn't found it here. Some cooked ROM do it, perhaps a developper can provide such a cab...
In an other way, a short program allowing to rename and link easely unused tabs, would be useful too, whatever the ROM or kitchen...
mate you haven't cooked a Rom, your just tweeking
Yes, absolutely..
I just did it for people who search for simple customisation, more than for a cook...
I thought it was clear in my post, though! Thanks for your answer.
Bobby
probably should be moved to the themes and apps section
You're right...
How to do that?
Regards,
Bobby
Only mods can move threads
MOD EDIT - Thread moved to Themes & Apps section..........and renamed
