Hello guys,
I have been searching around for applications that can automatically retrieve bank account information online, but haven't found anything that might be compatible with the Dash.
I used to use SplashMoney with my previous PDA (Sony PEG-UX50) and I loved it. It did exactly what I wanted. I was hoping there would be a similar program for WM5.0 out there. It would be neat to have it display your account balance on the Home Screen also.
Thanks in advance...
You might want to take a look at Microsoft Money.
I thought that was for desktops? Is there a smartphone version? I don't see it.
Have you ever heard of Handango.com...? Much of what you post would be answered by stopping by there, or any of the other major online retailers.

I use FinPhone (http://subsembly.com/en/finphone.html) to retrieve account information and make payments via HBCI.
I haven't found anything yet that duplicates what Splash Money offers (no WinMo application available, but maybe in the next year based on an inquiry I placed into them). FinPhone looks interesting...is it available in English and does it work with US banks?
The best I found was SPB Finance, on my HTC Prophet. But I can't find anything close to that on the smartphone platform. I really need something to sync with Quicken.
I heard they were taking out a version of Pocket Quicken for Landscape smartphones. Maybe they will
FinPhone will work if and only if your bank supports the HBCI protocol (versions HBCI 2.0.1; HBCI 2.1; HBCI 2.2; FinTS 3.0). You need to check with your bank. At least in Germany, HBCI is quite widespread.
language: their site doesn't mention anything, so you might want to contact them directly.
As a side note, in my personal experience, if you are so inclined, using software in a foreign language is quite easy because all you need to look up are a few dozen menu entries, and that only once.
Anyone tried using StypeTap Platform on their Dash? It supposedly allows you to run Palm OS software on WM devices. Was wondering if we could get SplashMoney working on the Dash with this baby.

Try it out and let everyone know what you find.

Is there some reason that no chef has released a ROM with some of the popular apps bundled in.
I'm not asking for warez as all my apps are licensed properly, but with SPB apps being as popular as they are and so many other ROMs preloaded with the freeware HTC apps I'd think that someone would have cooked a ROM with PhoneSuite, MobileShell, and PocketPlus built in.
All we'd need to do is import our preferences and register it with our own valid licence keys (no warez) and then install any of our other apps via UC.
I currently use LITE ROMs and install via UC now, but most people say that cooked in apps are faster/use less space.
The commercial apps' licenses prohibit that, don't they?
It will always be ok if it is a trial version then its up to the users to register it.
Read licenses carefully, and you'll be amazed of what you can't do. (Just checked with Spb license - see chapter 4.)
to be honest many people only use freeware apps.
so cooking in shareware applications would be abit crap as after 10 days? trial you have a useless application that you cannot uninstall...

Exactly what I thought. Better to just install and config yourself
they are all junk, i dont want no damn commercial software in my precious cooked ROM's
Besides, versions change and once an app is cooked in you can't uninstall it or upgrade without wasting more memory on your device.

PocketPlus hasn't been upgraded in 6 months or so
PhoneSuite just went to 1.3
MobileShell just went to 2.1
and ROM flashers probably flash every few weeks or months... otherwise UC wouldn't be as big of a benefit as it is.
Many chefs make full and lite versions of their ROMs because they know some people want to be free to install what they want without the HTC freeware crap or want to have all that HTC stuff built in without installing it. I'm fairly certain that many of the poeple that use Lite ROMs do so because they want to use these SPB apps (or others) without wasting the space the HTC apps would be taking while not being used...
And then you have to depend on the Rom Chef to update the app in the Rom.
The whole point of Lite Roms (I mean truly Lite as in .Net CF & Office Removed also) is that software does change over time and even user prefs change (I used to live in PocketBreeze but haven't installed it in over 2 months as I've got Ultimate Launch working very well).
This isn't Burger King, you don't get it your way unless you step into the kitchen and cook your own recipe.

WHAT?? theres too much better Freeware out
CAB Installation Files
Why don't yo just try to acquire the applications in CAB format? What' the point on cooking ROMs with trial versions installed? If they are cooked they cannot be uninstalled... Just think of it...

Agree X 2! A waste of space...
Maybe I'm stating the obvious, but the coolest part about our ppc's is if we don't like what you guys are cooking, we can cook whatever we want for ourselves. I'd say if you really want a rom with all that stuff find a kitchen tutorial and cook you one up.
Hello guys, I am pretty new to the forum but I have a request that I am willing to pay for if someone can provide me with a lean and light 6.1, I bought Dash from Ebay that came loaded with 6.1 but it came with lots of things in the ROM I do not want and my memory per Celetask oscillates around 9-15 megs sometimes going down to 4. These are the applications and requirements I would need:
1. sync with Exchange 2007
2. be able to use FreeRange RSS
3. have the new version of Google Maps with transit
4. have Window Live Messenger
5. have Live Search but not the rest of the Windows Live
6. have Resco File Manager
7. and the rest of the Windows Mobile 6.1 apps but have to OS modified for maximum efficiency and battery conservation
8. have the Net 2.0 app because I use an app called Smarter Tasks that requires the former
9. have the Tmobile zone button mapped to a nice Task Manager perhaps 3rd party app to handle the closing of apps and other stuff
10. a stable weather app to be used in the panel, I currently using Nrg
If your interested and can help out please let me know I would give anywhere from $25-50 but remember the key word is STABLE.
thanks in advance
Jorge
I'm not sure about some of the programs but you might be able to do most of this yourself using Rickwyatt's WM6.1 Vanilla Rom and then installing the programs you want
i would recommend clicking below in the latest 6.1 and load Ricky's vanilla rom, this rom is fairly naked, meaning there is nothing on the rom...

No he would just have to go to eBay ... I'm sure someone there would try to sell him Rick's Vanilla Rom... Hahaha!
keep your money because you can do all that by yourself. Trust me, it's easy. Get rid of what you do not want and install "only" applications that you want but before you do that, install Ricky's Vanilla ROM which is basically a ROM with no bells & whistles, which is what your looking for.
If you still have any questions, please feel free to post here. One of us will definitely help you out.
just download the rom (whatever vanilla rom you want) and then download this guide. it will walk you through the whole process in about 15 minutes.

Guys, I would appreciate if you can direct me to a wiki re: memory management and things like that
Question:
In my Excalibur what's the minimum available ram that is needed to run app, also whenever I can install an app in the Storage is it better, thanks
You should always install anything that goes on the today screen (or starts-up) on the main memory so that it boots correctly. Each app has a different requirement for RAM memory, but most aren't that much (unless you're talking iGO8).
Thanks kareem9nba, how much free memory is cool to have
Reading another post, I just realized that my current rom, which is somekind of cooked rom launches the HTC screen upon reboot and gives two quick vibrations eventhough my phone has all the Tmobile Dash icons in the back and front, hmm so I'm thinking its already unlocked and I can skip that section of the install the process to Ricky's Vanilla or Kavanas 6.1

you will most likely need to re-app unlock the phone..it takes like 20 seconds...so just do it to save yourself time..or you could get into the process and get error 270...just run the unlock first...
Cool, I'll follow your instructions, no problem, thanks again

Haha! I'm not alone.
Loaded NRG's 1.3 Rose...not great, buggy.
Need Dialer.exe as it is somehow missing from NRG's ROM. Can anyone oblige?
Dialer wasn't included... Dialer.exe was a Rickwyatt's addition to his ROM. There's a reason it's "missing"
Thanks. I would think, though, that the reason in this case is simply fail.

The main reason Chome Config was created is to customize CHome panels, not to create a contacts panel that automatically dials people... I should know, I was probably one of the first guys to even ATTEMPT any Chome panel customization and that was TLogix's original intent. Ricky on the other hand added dialer.exe (which is Vijay555's creation) to EXTENDED its functionality...
But I guess no matter what I do is good enough for you and it's all "FAIL"... and what an original word that is nowadays. I wish I can hunt down and kill whoever came up with that crap.

The thing about that is is that CHome didn't come with Kavana's. I installed it separately and BAM Dialer.exe was available. Whatever reason you 'may' have had is == fail.

NRG, don't worry dude, there are always going to be haters out there, that are never satisfied and want their phones to shave and bathe them but don't waste time on those folks, don't let that turn your flame off, I'm sure very few people on this Exacalibur forum can even cook a rom much less develop an application that is worthy and talked about within the community, your weather app was revolutionary and it opened the door to other and although I have not seen your rom bec I'm using a blackjack II and I'm sure it rocks, and of course there are bugs, what application does not have bugs, Windows XP, Outlook 07, and on and on, anyway, screw those guys and keep up the good work. If I keep the Windows Mobile 6.1 homescreen, thats because I like it.
And I also keep NRG's work prominently displayed on atleast THREE PANELS in the homescreen, that means I count his work to be AT PAR with the HUGE MICROSOFT with its umpteen number of programmers.
Lets face the truth, NRG did set a trend, and hyenas will keep howling.
Full Support to you, mate NRG

Will this fix the vibration problem as well because I dont really wanna spend alot of time changing the rom and then I either end up with a bricked device or still have the same issue. Just on the phone to orange now see if they can exchange my handset even though i have had it for 4 months now. wish me luck...
Orange is sending me a new handset tomorrow so hopefully that will fix the problem. They have advised me not to install any 3rd party software for a few days which should not be a big problem. But i was also told that if i experience any other problems on 2 more occasions that I would be able to change my handset for another model which is good customer service
Anyway now that i AM gettin a new touch hd, can anyone of the "senior" members of this forum give me their list of programs installed which have not caused the phone to slow down? I already know of fingerkeyboard, smschat (or smiley sms) and coreplayer. But I still am in need of a good gps software and the upgrade to TF3D v2 or v3 and a gd application to tilt the screen into landscape mode. Any help is much appreciated!
I have been using my HD for a while have not flashed any new ROM's but do have quite a list of 3rd party Windows Mobile software I use on it all working nicely.
Many of my applications are not freeware though, bought over the years as I'm a long time Windows Mobile user.
In my opinion you do not need to flash the ROM to still take advantage of your great HD
My applications include:
Pocket Informant
Resco Utility Pack
Softmaker Office Suite
SPB time
SPB Traveller
SPB Mobile Shell (plus the omnia SPB Skins skinning tool)
SPB Brain Evolution
SPB Finance
SPB Wallet
SPB weather
Pocket Investor
GarminXT GPS
MSS Converter
Phatnotes for MS Outlook
Skype
GSen
LockmeLite
SKTools
Sprite Backup
Finger Keyboard
Google Maps
HD Tweak

Why don't you upgrade the stock firmware first to the new 1.56 and new 1.13 radio, supposed to fix a lot of issues and give better battery life / gps signal.
Is that the 1 from the HTC website? cos when i entered my serial number last time it said that the upgrade was not available for me so i assume that i already had the latest version...
EDIT: Dont you just love orange? I have just received my replacement and it is a generic handset. hehehe
Hello omz
To check your rom version start/settings/system/device information with the phone being 4 months old it will more than likely have version 1.14, the latest version 1.56 from htc.com is only available for sim free phones i.e. it was purchased with out a contract. As mentioned else where on this forum, providers like Orange etc will take a few months with there update if they bother at all. If they don’t your other option will be to either flash with a custom rom loads on this site or see if some one will send you there official rom. Software, video convertor http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=474955 this is excellent, screen rotation I like this one http://idevelopstuff.com/dev/WM/Fuze...creen_inst.cab but there is also gyrator, satnav TomTom 7.915 works a treat on these phones. You might also be interested in this app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452505 hope this helps Jez
