I saw some interesting threads about radio rom and rilphone. If i understand correctly a lot of problems with radio can be caused by not updating the rilphone.dll

So basically when you update your Radio Rom you have to update the rilphone.dll as well. Something i never did
We should also collect the correct rilphone.dll with the radio rom as P1Tater is doing in the Raphael section.
Question is where did the Radio Roms came from and do we also have the accompanying OS rom where we can axtract the rilphone.dll from?
If people do have these files, please post
The Latest radio was supplied in this rom: RUU_Trinity_CHT_3.03.751.5_6275_1.56.70.11_108_Ship.exe. Download links are down however
Honestly, I'm not going to pretend that I know what you're doing with all this. BUT, I did find your ROM you were looking for. I hope this helps, and I hope it makes our Trinity's run better some how.

Ahhh..... I'm SO Sorry! I googled a bit and this jumped up. Without enough sleep, I missed those important parts.
I'll look again, and if I find them, I'll replace the original links.
The only thing I've found so far is this SkyDrive link, but I cannot download!
Maybe because I'm in the US? Can somebody else try and see if they can get this? Thanks.

Ok, now that we have the files... Can I just copy them to my SD Card and my phone will now bake pizza or make popcorn? You know, the important stuff...
What will the benefit from this be? Better Battery Life, Better Connection, Better GPS?
Don't know about you, but i hope that my coverage improves and that my phone doesn't disconnect when i switch from an 3g to a gsm network. Going to build some cabs to install the files.
For the more wonderful stuff, maybe i can positively influence my balance on my bank account the next time i walk past a ATM

Hi Guys,

Did you try patching the nk.exe or signing the files? I'm not sure what all that means , but I read it in one of the forums listed on the first page.
Hello guys
I have read all your post and link to Raphael threat , Da_G recommandation , but i don't know which benefit for our old trinity .
We have rilgsm (older) and not rilphone (newer) .
Be carrefull with ril.dll , it's a file in SYS (build) in RedistPhone folder , you can't change only this file from an other OS : so WM 5 or 6 or 6.5 and i seen also praticaly each OS has a ril.dll different .

No, I didn't sign them, because i do not edit them, pathing the nk.exe means nothing to me ?? For now i'll stop experimenting , maybe someone clever will come up with a solution
ok, lots of speculation going on here,
can someone pls clarify:
- where do you need to copy the dll to?
- what is the risk of doing that?
- how do you revert back?
- what if you don't do it?
thanks

so, chanvi, you're suggesting NOT to play around with this whole rillgsm/rilphone/ril.dll thing?
Cellcore
I first started this thread because i was unhappy with the performance of my trinity in combination with new (non original but cooked) roms.
The symptoms:
* When you dial a number you only hear 3 short beeps and the call is ended. The change of this happening is bigger when you are on a 3g network.
* you have missed calls without the phone ringed
* SMS messages don't send
* if you try to manually set the provider you will get an error "Unable to connect to the network. Try to...."
All this time the phone displays full coverage.
When i read the posts mentioned in the first tread I thought this could be the reason for this behavior.
So i started experimenting with with ril.dll. I copied ril.dll and rilgsm.dll into the kitchen from Chanvi93&Oggi and flashed my trinity. The result where excellent what calling concerned, but some other functions on the phone didn't work any more. unable to sent and receive SMS, strange active sync behavior, Unable to use SIM manager.
On other forums i read about the dependence of dll's from the Cellcore so my investigation moved to the entire Cellcore.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa922988.aspx
Again i used the kitchen from Chanvi93&Oggi to experiment and found that i had to copy the following dll's from the original Chinese CHT9100 rom to the kitchen to get optimal results:
ccoredrv.dll
ril.dll
rilgsm.dll
siminit.dll
simtkit.dll
tkitapp.exe
InvokeSIMMgr.dll
I also copied the latest Sim manager i found in this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3585911&postcount=12
With this files copied over the files in Chanvi93&Oggi's kitchen i get optimal results.
I attached the files in a zip. These files correspond with the 1.56.70.11 radio rom. These files cannot be copied to the phone but need to be cooked into the rom

Thanks in advance

Please let us know how you get on with it

Sweet! Downloading right now
I am getting Country ID error when I am trying to install it
As per my usual request...
If anyone DOES manage to get it installed, can they run Cleartype and see if it is 'GOOD' Cleartype, like the O2 ROMS, or useless, garbled and coloury Cleartype, as per the Orange ROMS please?
As for the Country Code error, is it a T-Mobile or UK device you are installing on?
if not, you'll need to edit the nbf files for the correct country.
How to edit those files? TIA
NBF files are passworded, can't seem to open them in editor

me I have a french Qtel 2020 with now the WWE 1.66 rom.

How you fix it ?

I have a Blue Angel as mentioned in my signature and I have what I believe are all of the files needed to try and install WM2005 Build 14326.0.0.0 onto it.
Here are the WM2005 files I currently have:
HimaUpgradeUt - 512KB - 5/5/2004 4:54PM
nk.nbf - 32,769KB - 3/21/2005 9:08AM
And the following came from my existing ROM:
ms_.nbf - 16,833KB - 2/3/2005 7:45PM
radio_.nbf - 4,097KB - 2/3/2005 7:45PM
I also have a good copy of ActiveSync Beta 4.0.0 and have all of the instructions that were made in the main WM2005 post for installing on the Himalaya and I'm assuming it should be the same for the Blue Angel.
My device info currently reads:
Model No: PH20A2
Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Version 4.21.1088 Build 14132
ROM Version: 1.36.00 WWE
ROM Date: 01/13/05
Radio Version: HA00_140
Protocol Version: AA3.3.301
ExtROM Version: 1.36.110 WWE
Hardware Version: 0041
This is what it came with out of the box, I have not installed the updated ROM Audiovox released the day the phone was released because I have never had a single problem and some people who upgraded reported problems and that some files were a day older than the version that shipped in the original ROM.
-------------------
Now my 1st question, the newest updated ROM installer package from Audiovox which was released 3/4/2005, has a different version of the upgrade utility, it's called "HaUpgradeUt - 424KB - 12/23/2004". The package it was included in from Audiovox's website was called "HA_SPCS_13600_113_00140_6600". Which upgrade utility is the best to use or does it not matter?
Now my 2nd question, has anyone yet tried this on a Blue Angel? Is there anyone here who really knows thier stuff who is willing to help me if I get lost or screwed up so I can be the Blue Angel WM2005 test pig?
Thanks!
hi
i have a pda2k with 1.33 rom and radio rom 1.08 and my cooked rom
i tried the upgrade but got the device authentication error.. tried it with the explained patch and the other method in original wm2005 post.. the himupgrade starts the procedure and then stops after some time saying an error occured..
but you go ahead and try it..may be you will do something differently and will succeed..
note: i have tried the xda 2 SE rom and imate jam rom and almost tried the alpine rom on my pda2k.. there is nothing you cannot revert back from
just incase if you are curious what happened after the above roms..my device didnt boot.... no problem...just unplug the usb port of the cradle and run a wwe rom made for xda 2s or pda2k ...everything will work then!
good luck..
keep us posted!!!!
in the above post: i mean unplug usb then replug usb and then run the BAupgrade utility....
can you upload hte 1.36 rom you have??? does your device have wifi and camera???
thanks

Where is the post for this "explained patch method" you are referring to? Also I'm considering the post titled "Microsoft Windows Mobile Version 5.0 I can share" as the original WM2005 post so we are on the same page in our thinking on that one.
The ROM is a free download from Audiovox, I guess I could upload it though.
I'm assuming the BAupgrade utility is on this site for download?
My device does have the camera but no WiFi, it has EV-DO instead. It's a CDMA phone, not a GSM phone...
your running the Verizon EVDO version of the the BlueAngel a CDMS 1xrt yada yada device. Most new ROM images are made for GSM phones then latter altered to talk to CDMA modules. In this case I think ot only would you not have a "good" experience but would warn against it. Second BlueAngel devices have OEM driver for the slide out keyboard. You will most likely loose for sure its use with this new OS. This is why the only devices it is worrking on right now are non-hardwired keyboard devices. Also there seems to be a notable diff in the hardare implimentation between HTC based devices. What software might work with one may not at all or damage another. Sorry for the down news but I think unless you have a keyboardless device I would not recomend playing with it. Just my 2 cents.
What you can do though is grab some of the elements (image files) from the new OS in other threads here, and overwrite the files on your device. Kind of like adding crome package or racing stripes. still the same car, just feel new
Thanks for the input. I'm running the Sprint version, not the Verizon one, same difference though pretty much, lol. 2.5G Vs. 1xrt and both have EV-DO, and then of course the frequency of the Verizon digital and Sprints PCS, but yeah both CDMA
I really couldn't care less about the keyboard, I don't even use it, never really have. Honestly, I work for CompUSA and if this thing gets buggered up I'll just exchange it out. I'm going to do a full backup tonight, hard reset, dump the existing ROM and then start the process just for grins to see how it goes. As long as it's not dog slow, text messaging works and email along with voice functions I'll be happy as heck. It'll atleast be fun to screw with and then I can always go back later.
I'm still unclear on some things like the country code and stuff that was mentioned in the other posts. Once I know I have all the facts and all of the files I'll give it a try and post back here. I'm off Sunday, Monday, & Tuesday so I'll have 3 days straight to play. I have to say my only real concern is it working with the CDMA radio which hopefully it will since I have a good copy of the latest Radio ROM for it...

Why should you people go around risking your devices like this?
It's like putting diesel in a petrol car..things will screw up...
The 2005 upgrade currently available is only meant for XDA II devices, not IIs or II mini...or whatever. Hardware differences will render your efforts rather futile save for a massive hack.. Sigh.

Where on Audiovox is the 2005 rom?. All I've ever seen are the 2003se updates.
I along with a ton of other Harrier owners can't wait to get WM5!!!
In light of the "NO GSM" error people are getting I'm assuming there is something in the BA ROM that checks the Radio on boot.
Has anyone actually opened up the latest 2003SE Harrier ROM and the latest 2003SE BA ROM and actually looked for what the difference is? I'm hoping someone can do that and maybe modify the WM5 BA ROM thereby compatible with the Harrier.
I've tried opening both my 2003SE ROM using the "er2003edit" but it keeps saying the password is wrong. Also it won't open the WM5 BA ROM.
Any thoughts???
Hi, I have the harrier XV6600 and I have a bit knowledge related to the ROMS and stuff, I'll be trying to figure out what the difference is, i'm assuming it's the whole Kernel it self, but not sure, anyways, can you provide me with as much information about ur device... carrier, rom etc... also where u able to boot up WM2005 at all on your device? I get to the screen with the four colors then get to the menu, and ones I hit the envelope it just gives me a white screen and it stays there for ever until i reset and then i'm back to step one..
I would like to know if it atleast is capable of booting up the OS before I decide to spend sometime trying to make it compatible with the CDMA network.. thanks
No Harrier owners as of yet have gotten it to boot. We all simply get the NO GSM error after install and after the screen you mentioned you got to.
I've cooked my ExtROM onto my SD Card and resized my memory so I'm ready for it atleast. I also have the correct installer for the Harrier as all of the Harrier specific tools for unhiding, unlocking, and resizing the ExtROM. Also I have all of the 2.04 ROM version files of all the .exe's that all the BA guys said WM5 was missing and had posted from their 2003SE ROM's. Of course we don't have the WiFi file. I also have the patched WM5 ROM nbf without the file error that mamaich made.
It's the kernel thats different, 2003 and 2005 are using the same bootloader. Looking at the 2003 gsm rom, the kernel is very similiar to the 2005 rom. Getting the cdma radio layer running would be easy enough, but, we have to get the kernel to boot the OS. Not sure if the 2003 kernel will do it, i'll give it a shot though. May even be able to throw one together in PB
,Dave
Sweet, I'll be waiting for the results of your attempt!
Alex
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL
"dll rilcdma.dll"
This is what is preventing the boot-up, I believe.
Any HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn that are unable to load will cause the phone not to boot up.
I am sure this says "dll rilgsm.dll" on the BA. We need to change this to "rilcdma.dll" and copy over the .dll from the 2.04 ROM.
Then dump the ROM and load it on the Harrier, this should hopefully get it booting, if there are not any other bad device drivers.
We also need to make sure this is based off the new patched ROM that mamaich made...
Well here is the rilcdma.dll from my 2.04 ROM:
Wow, you guys rock. It sounds like after some work that it will be possible. I just wish I knew how to help... I do have several devices to test on but I have no rom building experience...
Can't we just hex edit the information of WM2005 dump file? using a hexeditor, but then we would need to copy the file, I'm actually thinking that the rilcdma.dll file might be included already, I remember ones flashing my device with a 2003Se rom, and finding the rilgsm.dll file and my phone was working properly? maybe it's generic to include both the files?
either way we would need to get someone with a gsm phone to do those changes, and copy that file, dump the file, and then we'd need to try them on our devices?
ANY GSM users outhere wanna help?
Bump.
Glad to here people that know what they're doing are working on this.
Hopefully the thread topic won't scare off EVERY GSM user.
Course... they're all too busy playing with the new OS to notice us
Bump
I think it will be a while, if at all, that there will be a CDMA version.
Most of the developers are using the GSM version and thus have no way of testing the CDMA one. Additionally the GSM version is not working perfectly yet, so this will add to the time that it takes. I think we will see a CDMA universal before we see WM5 for the Harrier
*Bump*
The 6700 is out through Sprint! Maybe we'll be able to rip the necessary CDMA files from it? http://www.sprint.com/business/products/phones/ppc6700_allPcsPhones.jsp
Holy crap! Somone "check" one out in a store and grab the ROM with an sd card...
They're only available through business channels right now and should ship next week according to those that have ordered. They were also told that consumer channels should be able to order next week sometime, but no word on when they might start popping up in the stores. Remember, this ROM won't directly copy to our devices, but we might be able to get the necessary files off of it to get WM5 working on our Harriers. It's another step in the right direction at least.
Bump again, lol....
Apache ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=157140
Well, I'm no expert, and I have no equipment, no software, and no skills, lol. So I can't help much here. But I do applaud the effort and wish there were some way I could contribute.
Anyway, I would imagine that if you take the ROM from an Apache (Sprint PPC-6700) and compare it to the ROM of a Wizard, whatever the differences are is probably exactly what the differences between the Harrier and Blue Angel ROMS need to be (for WM5 to be functional on both).

Sorry for my broken english.
This is link to post but on russian http://forum.israpda.com/viewtopic.php?p=60290#p60290 and for download you need regestred on forum.
So i think lin to dowmload it's ok!
UnRAR file to SDcard but not SDHC (not work) turn off device.
Push to record + mute buttons both and keep pushed. Push to power button and dismiss.
After you see SDLoder on display put device on table and wait for resume process.
After upgrade wait for windows logo and start yor's device.

Hi Igor,
I have a 614c since end of March and 3 more around me (of friends) all running on Cellcom SIM. It seems that the ROM does not have Cellcom as a listed service provider.
Since work with HP on a new ROM and have a beta ROM installed on my unit HP asked a few time is there a STD (Sleep Till Death) problem in an Orange SIM, bacause many customers compain about this besides the BT volume and AGC problem. Can you say some thing. Further more, what Hebew are you using on 6 and 6.1.
Thanks
Nir
Hello everyone,
Hi I am still kind of a beginner when it comes to updating roms n stuff but I don't plan to use my new PDA at all before I learn couple of things.
so I hope you'd be kind enough to help me out to get me started on this. I downloaded the latest WM 6.1 rom update and the original Rom as well but I will not be touching that before I can create my own back up and be able to restore it. The following questions are pretty much related.
1- I would like to know if there is a software that can run from my PC (not from the PDA) and backup or image the PDA Rom and contents to a file on my PC just like what I do with Ghost and my PC.
so what is the best way to back up a rom and how do I restore one (specifically for this device anyway)
2- are there any tuts I can look at.
3- Finally but most importantly what are the tools that a hardcore developer uses to do this kind of complex back up and restore, how do I create a flash.dio file like the WM 6.1 update and restore.
I am a .NET developer but never done anything for PDA's just yet. I really googled for couple of hours but couldn't find the right tools.
Thanking you in advance

Hi igorslon,
Thanks for reply.
However, hmm I am not sure how that answers any of my questions, I already have the files from these links, I am just not sure how to use them.
Again how do I begin to create a flash.dio for example?
I came across XDAtools
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=CompleteTools
but I am not sure how I can use it to back up my rom to a file.
any practical help please would be much appreciated. Thanks
Hi guys
I'm considering installing this ROM.
One question though. Are there any other XT9 languages than the English, Italian and Spanish that are in the original?

I've updated my Asus P320 and everything seemed to be fine.Than a day suddenly I can't make or receive any calls.
ctiruvuru got the same problem, "the internal speaker, speakerphone or headset does not work while making a call - I can't hear the other person but they can hear me fine. Also, when I receive a call and after I answer it, there is a delay of 3-4 seconds before it's actually answered. The headset and speakerphone work fine if I use media player etc."
The IMEI number had changed into 004400003501112. I tried flashing all the rom I've found but the problem still remains.
Does anybody know how to solve this?

Pls flash the official ROM 6.1 from asus and u get back yr imei..it is just bcos the BT mac address is not found, nothing to worry at all.
You should go to the service. The same came to me.
No other choice.
I would warn other people here again.
When you install this hdubli wm 6.5 rom IMEI is zero and recycling impossible!!!
I've tried firmwares
P320_V4_15_0_V4_10_V1_18_0_ITA,
P320_V4100_V49_V1220_ITATIM.ZIP,
P320_V4100_V49_V160_WWE,
hdubli 21501.5.0.70,
still no luck.
Is it possible that there is no way to change manually the IMEI code?

you simply need a 4.5 version 6.1 ROM..I will upload here so that no one complains about change in imei
ok i've got the point about imei. i'm waiting for you to upload the version you wrote about because i don't understand which version you are talking about.
thank you.
Thanks rammkorn, for posting this in a separate thread.
hdubli, I really liked your WM 6.5 build 21501.5 except for the IMEI (or bt address) problem. Waiting for your upload of 4.5 version 6.1 ROM.
Thanks.
waiting hdubli to save us, I tried the P320_V4_13_0_V49_V1101_WWE... no luck.
Does anybody manage to fix this?
Not yet, still waiting for hdubli to help with the 4.5 version ROM.

I have looked into the problem. The mapping of imei and bt mac is related to the size of flash.bin.If the size of flash.bin is lower say around 48 mb, then by flashing it, it doesn't overwrite the area on One nand where imei and btmac are stored.
secondly, if the xip version of flash.bin is same as the ROM version For Ex if your ROM version is 4.15 and the xip used is from version 4.15, the imei and btmac r not lost, no matter how big is the size of flash.bin.
So, it is mandatory to all to upgrade to the latest version of ROM and then upgrade to 6.5
I will change xip of my ROms now onwards.
For those who have lost imei, pls bear, am still looking a way to restore.

Ok, so we rely on you hope you find the time to fix this problem.
Thank you.
If you have backup try extracting gsmParam.cfg to /windows and softreset a phone.
I had a same problem when flashing to 3rd party rom with gsm.bin.

I don't have a backup unfortunately I never imagined updating firmware would have these problems.
What parameters are there in gsmParam.cfg? Did you manage to resolve the problem?

the hdubli firmwares are based on the 4.5. So I used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498767. But I was able to restore my IMEI after replacing my gsmParam.cfg with a backup.

Thanks rammkorn for the link. Did restoring gsmparam.cfg fix the internal speaker issue as well? Is it possible to modify gsmparam.cfg to restore a specific IMEI? Can you please share your copy of the file?
Thanks.
