I was doing something in task manager yesterday.
When i was shutting down some programs.
My MDA COMPACT III froze.
The last program i closes was device.exe
Now its hanging,
It goes through he O2 screen, the next screen stays on.
Back light keeps burning.
what am i supposed to do now?
I've had this a few times now. The latest was after I installed Opera and did a soft reset. I left the PDA for over an hour but it never came back responsive. After several soft resets I had to do a Hard Reset. (Hold down both Soft-Keys and Press the reset button in the hole on the side with the stylus). This WILL wipe all your data though.
i already left it on for 5 hours, no changes where made.
i also left it laying on my desk with the battery removed.
no changes
In bootloader it doesn't get connected to my pc, so i can't flash any rom into it

Do a Hard Reset. (Hold down both Soft-Keys and Press the reset button in the hole on the side with the stylus).
when i do a hard reset, it goes into bootloader.
i press the soft-keys on side of the MDA (voice & power) put the stylus in.
it goes direct into bootloader when i pull out my stylus

that is not how a hard reset is done. dont press the buttons on the sides of the device. what you do is starting bootloader.
to do a hard reset do as described here in the wiki.

That's bootloader mode NOT a hard reset.
To perform a hard reset, press and hold two keys on FRONT of phone next to Red and Green call buttons while pressing reset button with stylus. Keep these TWO buttons held until text appears on screen asking you to "Confirm to Format". Press the GREEN call button and then sit back until the phone re-boots.
Then you have the good job of re-installing everything again.................at least the phone will now work though.
i feel freaking dumb right now....
going to feel a shamed sitting in the corner with a donkey hat on.
thanks guys, its up and running!
Same problem here have to do hard reset every couple days.Did had back-up but now that freezes also
This way it`s not for me,will go back to other ROM till this is fixed.

have the same problem
stucking Artemis
same Problem here with my Orbit. I had to hard-reset two times last week after installing new programms. After It ran fine for about 4 days until yesterday.
Anyway, very fine piece of Rom, even nicer when buggs fixed.
If you guys can post what you have installed, whether you have anything added in traylauncher, and if you overclock with batterystatus, that would be really helpful - It would be good to nail this problem down, as people have been having this kind of issue since v3.7, and I've yet to find anything in common.
As it stands, after I've disabled traylauncher, I've not had to hard reset for nearly a week now.

The first time my Orbit stuck just after installing Battery-Status as first Program after installing the new Rom to my Orbit. (I did not overclock at this time!)
I do not know what was second, but my device stuck after necessary soft-reset just after installing.
I installed B&B 4 again after the second hard-reset and it worked fine with dynamic overclocking from 143 to 247 MHz for 4 - 5 days. I felt as a lucky Guy
Yesterday I had to switched off the phone (not the device). As i wanted to switch on the phone some hours later it stuck. After waiting some Minutes and nothing happened, I did a soft reset and my Orbit hung in B&B-screen. A few soft-resets later I did a hardreset to get it back to work.
For those still having trouble with freezes on soft reset - have any of you still got the 6 tab home plugin?
Gullum posted this in the Dev forum, and that could be whats causing it - I'd gone back to 5 tabs, as it'd always set the phone to vibrate with appointments.
I'd forgotten that I'd done that, and that could well be whats fixing the issue.
Hi i've already had this problem, which is well described in this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=323995
Its a bug in this version of B&B 4.0
hopefully Tom will be fixing it
theres no cure for it but to do a hard reset unfortunately

have you done any soft resets since then?
also i dont seem to find any pattern. I have tried various applications as i've mentioned in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=323995 , i have done with and without tray launcher the problems is still there.
I must have soft reset a dozen times since, installing new keyboards and other such software.
No problems at all.....
Have you tried installing the 5 tab home plugin which is in the main B&B v4.0 thread?

Its not a v4 only issue, i had the same problem with v3.7 and that was without anything else installed, it only happens on soft reset and it appears to happen more oftern than not when there is some form of activity, ie, program closing / loading, media player running.
Just happened for first time on v4 for me yesterday, again, no additional programs installed
Hello, I don't know much about what i'm doing guess u can call me a virgin to the modding game. I'm a blackberry user so please bare with me. I'm thinking about joining team droid and I found my moms old HD2 lying around. It was having problems (un responsive touch screen) and I managed to find a place to fix that. I walk out the repair shop and start driving home and the phone is rebooting itself, stuck on a screen that says NRG Energize. I'm guessing whoever gave it to her had a rom installed? Now i tried holding down the volume down button and the power button, and also holding down the volume down button while pressing the reset button on the back but all that does is bring me to a multi colored screen that doesnt go away and reads:
PB81120 HV B3
SPL-2.08. HSPL 8G XE
'
can anyone, if anyone tell me where do i start in fixing this problem? any helpful links? advice on if i can get passed this, if theres a better rom out there and how i would go about installing.
please and thanks in advance. sorry if i am posting wrong or if theres another post i should be looking at, any guidance would help.

This should probably be put in the HD2 Android NAND Development Forum of the HTC HD2..... but I'm gonna help you anyway!
First you should look at this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021837 read it and study it GOOD!!
Then choose a rom from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=928
Use the instructions from the first link to flash the new rom.
Thanks, prior to reading this i was able to get the stock rom from t-mobile and load it up from my sd card. Now my issue is if it starts up it freezes during set up and goes into a bootloop or it just goes thru a bootloop when i turn it on. I guess the first step (from what i've read today) is when i get home to check the battery pins? not even exactly sure how they are suppose to look but i'll mess around with them (hopefully they dont break) when i get back home... i'm at work unable to focus thinking about fixing this phone lol.
Hi,i am sorry if i make a thread that is possibly answered allready, but i didn't find one. It's not a big deal, but i went in "panic" for a little bit today.I am the kind of guy that never turns off his phone.Last night when i went home i put the phone into the charger, and after 1 hour or so the phones rebooted himself,i said well maybe it happens. But today when i was at work i wanted to check some email,i pressed the power button and nothing happend.I pushed it several times but nothing happend,so i held the power button and volume down button do to a hard reset and it worked. Now,i am a little bit worried, did something like this happend to anyone?I am running stock rom with no root, everything stock, except de bootloader which is unlocked.
Any suggestions please?
Thank you.

It is normal, sometimes it happens don't worry about it
Hi,
Basically the power button on my rooted Xperia Play has lost all function as a button. The LEDs still work, but pressing/holding it does nothing regardless of the phone's state.
I used Button Remapper to set the Search button to act as the Power button (locking the screen, power off etc.) however this only works when the phone is on.
I'm in a situation where I will be using my phone for long periods of time away from any computers/chargers, so I have some spare batteries for this occasion.
The problem now is that should I need to change the battery while out, there's no way for me to turn it back on after doing so!
I was wondering if there were any tricks to circumvent the power button when the phone is off?
e.g. other button combinations, change battery during reboot, delay reboot (command/app)
please note: I wouldn't want to (and probably couldn't) go in and try to fix it manually, I don't want to risk breaking anything!
Any help is greatly appreciated!
I woke up this morning and when I took my cellphone i realized that my power button doesn't work anymore
i've did the same things you did. and any help i get i will post here :good:

Sucks, doesn't it mate -_-
I've had no luck or replies from the community yet.
Maybe posting this in a section of the forum with a larger user base would be an idea?

Hello folks,
I think I have the universal problem here but none of the solutions online helped me.
Yesterday my phone turned off by itself and after an hour I tried putting it on charge while it remained OFF. Within a minute I could see the display showing 1% and hence I left it OFF as that usually charges quicker.
After an hour or so I unplugged the phone(did not bother to check the display for batter status) and tried getting the phone ON but it failed to respond.
I tried connecting to the charger port and all I could see was a empty battery icon(white) with a lightning bolt sign(amber) appearing every 3-5 seconds, and goes off after a few seconds and this keeps repeating. I could neither see my charge going up not able to turn the phone ON.
I tried the battery recalibration technique/hard boot techniques etc., like holding the power + Volume buttons for 2 minutes/3 minutes and different combination. None of them helped. All I could see it that lightning bolt sign.
Anybody faced similar issues or any folks here able to help?
Please don't make multiple posts or threads asking the same thing. Also, "help" type questions don't belong in the General forum section, as clearly stated in the "sticky" thread at the top of the section "Please read before posting".
I'll respond to your post in the Q&A section, as that is the proper place for such discussions.
Apologies.
Is there anyway I can delete this thread?

There isn't a way for you to delete a thread once it's created, I don't think. I'll report it to the mods to close the thread.
