from what I'm reading is it true that it's what is in the rom version that determines if the phone can read the higher capacity cards. I guess this means that T-mobile won't put the program in their rom to read the SDHC cards.
not always--both hardware and software needs to be there for sdhc reading capability.
in s620, there is hardware support but software support requires driver installation (or kavana's rom
You had to start a new thread to ask this question? Did you not notice the other SDHC thread going on right now!?
actually i was asking about the t-mobile roms not the 6.1 roms
Well your question is still address in the Wiki.
Like uansari1 said , and like I mentioned on the other thread going on right now, and like a bunch of threads that this question has been asked before, Tmobile and any other carrier's WM 6.0 supports up to 2gig max. Any WM6.1 like Kavana's, Ricky's remake or the Rose roms supports up to 16gig's micro sdhc cards, and it has been tested by members here.

You said it your main question was regarding the Tmobile rom, well if you read the wiki and the other threads regarding the sdhc you would know that the 6.0 doesn't support sdhc and tmobile only has 6.0.
Dude, this phone is quite a few years old , Tmobile wouldn't even bother with anything regarding this phone , other than replacement when under warranty. Any kind of upgrades are on the owners hands. The only thing Tmobile is doing as of now is releasing an official WM6.1 on the new HTC Snap/Maple phone which I'm sure will support sdhc.
Peace.
I'm running 6.0 and I'm using a 4 gig sdhc card.
It didn't work with the T-mobile stock ROM, but after installing the HTC branded 6.0 (it's a later build than T-Mobile's 6.0)...
HTC_S620_SPA_1.27.412.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship.rar
... SDHC now works. Now, I've only used the 4 gig so I don't know if 8 or 16 gig cards will work.

The BT ROM is the same to as i used an 8GB SDHC card with it.

Hey does anyone know if the 6 GB memory will work on the HTC Mogul 6800..?
If your Mogul supports the 4GB micro SDHC cards, it should support the 6GB as well. There aren't too many of the 6GB cards around yet, but I've read that a few people here are expecting to receive some this week, so they will let us know of any issues.
6Gb and 8Gb SDHC and MicroSDHC
Guys,
We've seen the first of the 6Gb and 8Gb SDHC range.. For commercial reasons, no names mentioned, but there are still some QA issues with the new high density cards.. Probably best to steer away from the 6Gb and 8Gb SDHC devices for at least another month until the bugs get ironed out!!
As a rule of thumb it seems that the memory card manufacturers take a while to get the build quality right on each new density they release....
Thanks
Andy

I came across some 8 gb sd cards on ebay that the vendors claim are not sdhc. Anyone used this cards or could anyone confirm that they are actually compatible with non sdhc devices?
Regular sd cards only officially go up to 2gb but i have seen 4gb but dont work on all devices. That 8gb is a fake.
They are coming up all over ebay and people are buying and posting good feedbacks. I do use a 4g sd card which works flawlessly in my universal and also in my old toshiba e800 running wm2003se.
hmm.. i see them on ebay but im hesitant to buy them...
4GB non-SDHC Transcend
I have HTC Himalaya, I flashed it with WM 6.0 from Helmi and today (4.11.2010) I succefully started to use 4 GB SD (non-SDHC) card from Transcend in my Himalaya! Accordin´ to many opinions and comments I know that the device only has to support standard SD 1.1 (in hardware way) everything else is irrelevant! Now I´m searching for 8GB one (also non-SDHC), cause I know it exists! But first I have to find it and then I will post here that it works with Himalaya (meaning, if it works with Himalaya, It should work with any MDA or PDA with SDIO slot and hardware support for SD 1.1 format)
HC = "High Capacity".
It has to do with data addressing.
In order for a >2GB card to be non-HC, it has to have some other mechanism for switching between the 2GB segments than typical SDHC cards, like a physical switch on the back of the card. In essence, it will be multiple SD cards in a single package.
There are 3 SD standards:
-SD (max 2GB)
-SD 1.1 (max 4GB)
-SDHC (everything above 4 GB)
Don't buy these "SD" cards I bought one of them their quality was bad...after using it for 2 weeks the plastic case of the memory chip broke in 2 parts...now i have only the chip I cannot use anywhere.
The data I stored on it became sometimes unavailable I had to format the card...
Long story short: don't buy them.
Just received an SanDisk 8gb microSDHC card from Verizon Wireless (of all places - they had it in stock at: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/splash/splash.jsp?v=10 for $129.99). Seems to be working fine. I copied over 7gb of music and I'm now listening to it!
FYI - I'm running the official AT&T WM6 release.
for you what its the diference between use at&t wm6 oficial rom and schamps rom, do you think can i use a SDHC in my cell?

SDHD works perfectly with Schap's rom 4.01 at least
I'm also running Schaps 4.01 and it works great with my 6GB Sandisk micro SDHC card.

My understanding is that the WM6 roms have the ability to use SDHC cards. I'd previously used a 4gb microSDHC card with several different WM6 roms. But I haven't tested the 8gb card with anything other than the AT&T release.

If you have WM6 & SDHC SUPPORT.
I am using 6G on my X01HT/w Schap's 4.01.
i'm using 4gb on X01HT/w Schap's 4.01.
so is it support SDHC?
Saeba,
Did you have to format this card or could you use it straight out the box?
Secondly can you see/use the whole of the 8gb as one drive or have you had to partition it into smaller chunks?
Thanks
WB
I bought mine from Verizon's in-store shop at Circuit City, works right out of the box on myn HTC TyTN using Starbase 64's rom. Can see all 8GB. One point though was that I had to invest in a SanDisk USB SDHC card reader ($19.95) as my on board SD card reader in my notebook could not see the card to copy my application cab files on to it.
My is working, too

As I remember, it was straight out of the box. I'm using it as a single 8gb drive (7.5 gb in use )! After 2.5 weeks of use, no issues thus far.
BTW - If you try to use the card with your PC - I was told that most PC drives can't handle the larger (over 2gb) SDHC cards. So be careful of that. I had bought a SanDisk 4gb microSDHC drive and it came with a usb reader that I use on my PC. That works fine.
Saeba,
Thanks for the update. All I have to do now is wait for the prices to fall to a reasonable level.

SDHC on WM6
If your OS is WM6, then it should support SDHC. The SDHC standard specifies a size range of 4 GB - 32 GB. If your OS supports the SDHC standard, then it can read any SDHC card. Of course, there are no 32 GB cards... Yet!
There are actually some non-SDHC 4 GB cards. In particular, Q Memory makes 4 GB non-SDHC cards, but I believe they only have full size and mini, not micro. FWIW, while I was able to read the miniSD 4 GB non-SDHC on my Wizard, running WM5, it was so slow that I couldn't actually run any programs installed onto the card!
Regardless, if you have any of the great WM6 ROMs here, you'll be able to read a microSDHC card.

I don't think that will work. Is it SDHC? I have a 32 GB class 10 and I had to do a full format on my PC to get it to work with Android.
Didn't know there are 64gb microSD cards already...Still looking for 32gb with 17mb/sec write...$50 at NewEgg, but it lasts like couple of days before sold out..
The AT&T store told me 64G cards won't work. That's too bad. I'd like to get at least a 32G eventually.
Can one buy any 32G microSD card? I don't need anything fancy, it just needs to work.

I remember 4-5 years ago when 16gb just came out, many phones didn't support them, yet they worked together ok, it's just manufactures didn't test it, that's all...maybe it's same case here, unless it's not SDHC anymore.

Yes you can, but you might want to check compatibility for 32 GB cards. I know there is an issue with 32 GB class 10 cards. You have to do a full format on them in order for Android to see them.

I am pretty sure the 64 GB micro SD cards are not SDHC. Atleast I haven't see one that was.
64gb micro sd cards are SDXC. They've been proven to work on SGS2, Sensation, Droid Razr, Asus Transformer tab, even on a Nook and SGS1.
64gb cards are supported, just not officially.
As I understand it, there's no difference mechanically between SDHC and SDXC. The main difference is the file system they use, so the OS just needs to be compatible with the new file system and it should work. As the post above notes, android is already proven compatible but until someone tries one in a Nitro it's tough to say that it'll work for sure.
The other difference between SDHC and SDXC is support for speeds higher than class 10, which an SDHC host wouldn't be able to take advantage of.
I've seen a thread on here where someone used a 64gb card in the Nitro with success. It may have been the thread titled "Crappy SD card..."?

LOL! Great title ain't it? Sticks in the head for a while Here you go:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1417920
unfortunately, no one has yet to try the 64gb SDXC card just yet, most likely due to the astronomical price range. Below is one from amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Mobil...WIA2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327458819&sr=8-1
Just posting to confirm that the 64gb SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDXC Class 6 (that I ordered from Amazon here for $55.00) works perfectly in the Nitro! Just pop it into the phone to format it. The phone will initially say it's damaged, let the phone format it, and then you're good to go! (I'd read that for other android phones, trying to format this card on the pc and then using it on the phone doesn't work that well, so I went straight for the phone formatting method). It shows 59.46 GB of space usable. I've filled it all up to test it, and it seems to work just fine! It's only class 6, so I only get about 6 to 8 MB/s write speeds, but I think that's plenty fast for the phone. There is also a class 10 version of this card for 25 bucks more on Amazon, but, for me, it didn't warrant the extra cost. Just letting you guys know in case you're digital hoarders like me! =)
I just got SanDisk Ultra 64GB class 10 micro SDXC .. it worked like charm.
first it says memory card error and need to format... just format and mount it ... it shows 60GB available space ...
HIT thanks if that helps !!
