Phone looses cellular connection - P3300, MDA Compact III General

Hi Forum please Help!
My O² Orbit looses cellular connection, although it shows full connection and the green LED blinks.
I've searched the threads and found similar problems, but no solutions. maybe I missed it. I've already done the following:
1. Flashed the ROM (Artemis 4.02 with cube)
2. new Radio ROM (3.39...)
The problem occured with the original O² ROM on a weekly basis, with 4.02 I had it approx. 3x daily. With Radio ROM 3.39... I don't last 10min.
Any ideas what the problem could be, I need help.
Roger

Hi
You could try to update the rom, to an original O2 one. I just think it might work.
N71293

Hi, already tried that. Didn't work either.
Ended up buying a new phone. Let's see how long this one lasts?
Thanks

I have same issue, O2 uk loses reception regularly, I can be stood with full signal on my old nokia brick (o2) and no signal on my o2 orbit I have tried all the radios with no success how do I check antenna connections?
Thanks In advance

1.40 GPRS problem

Norwegian users are having a huge problem with GPRS connection. You can only connect to GPRS once. The next time you try it fails. You must either turn flightmode on or soft reset the device to get connected again.
This happened after Dangaard Telecom Norway released the 1.40 ROM upgrade.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Dangaard has not released a fix to this annoying problem!
Øystein
I do have the same problem in Canada after I upgrade from I-mate website.
Having the same problem with t-mobile in the US. I have done more soft resets in the last 12 hours with this update, than the last 5 months with the old update..
Still no fix out to solve this ANNOYING problem?!
Same here. It is getting very annonying. I have tried everything from phonealarm to gprs control panel and nothing will make it so that the gprs is always on.
I hope someone finds a fix to this. I am almost tempted to go back to 1.39, hmmm, almost!
I solved my problem by removing EVERYTHING out of the extended rom and doing a hard reset. I am still slowly installing the extended rom files one at a time to find out which install is causing the problem.
GPRS is working perfectly since I did this. No problems connecting or re-connecting.
GPRS issues
Hey guys I'm using the Qtek version of the 1.40 ROM.
I'm also experiencing the same problem.
In addition, anyone find that whenever after using the camera, the screen brightness is always blasted to the fullest?
Kinda problematic huh?

Radio problems with LVSW/Radio ROM

I am using LVSW ROMs since 26/03 version, through 08/04 until present 19/05. I also have 1.41 version of Radio ROM. Since I've started using these ROMs, I'm noticing problems with radio stack.
For example, while I was driving a car across Europe (UK->PL) few weeks ago, GSM module hanged almost every time I was crossing a border between countries and phone was loosing signal from one country and had to register in another. All I could see was little [!] sign instead of signal bars, and restarting phone module and/or whole device could help it. Two days ago I was on M1 from Sheffield to London and I've noticed that GSM module just died - pressing green button did just nothing (despite I had full signal bars), and people trying to call me that time, were saying they had regular calling signal, like I was missing a call. Besides that whole device was working properly, with no problems whatsoever.
On the other hand, I have no problems with dropped calls or data sessions. Looks like it is happening mainly on the move, and phone has problems with registering with network properly.
So there is a question(s) - does anyone have similar problems with LVSW ROMs or 1.41 Radio ROM? Should I downgrade Radio ROM to 1.40 or 1.38? I have HardSPLv7 installed, so is it safe to just use this RUU - ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Hermes/HERM_Radio_Only_1.40.30.00_CustomRUU.rar ? I've been searching forums, but haven't found much information on *downgrading* Radio ROM in particular.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Its the radio rom causing you problems. I've also had problems with data connections in particular using ROM 1.40 and 1.41 (in Asia, on UMTS and EDGE networks).
Suggest you re-flash the pretty-much proven 1.38 ROM. You can find the download link from the Wiki.
radio downgrade
I used the 1.40 on black 2.5 and it was ok , then I upgraded to 1.41 radio and I had problems with the sound quality so I downgraded to 1.40 and the sound become back good
I have HardSPLv7 installed and I am on orange IL Israel
I used for downgrade CustomRUU and had no problems on the downgrade prosses
now i am using the last version of LVWS with radio 1.40 and it is working ok
hope this info help you
another remark :
try to install first the radion and on top of it os and not first os and then radio , i notice in a change of battery life in those 2 variants
Were you driving too fast for the phone to keep up with the radio transmitters passing by????
I'm also using LVSW 19-05 and Radio 1.41 but not having any significant issues unless a program runs at 100%, then the person trying to call me hangs up before the phone starts ringing!
Ciao Oggy.
It's not the LVSW ROM.....! It's the radio 1.41 And this radio was tuned for Cingular. I am on Cingular and i personally think that 1.40 is much much better. Read up on the two radio topics for more info on the two. So the bottom line is it's NOT LVSW at fault here. it's the 1.41 radio...

Yeah, that's what I thought, but wasn't 100% sure either. I'm going to downgrade to 1.40 tonight and will observe any results...
Thanks to all for your inputs.
to be fair I think there is a problem with t-mobile uk at the moment with handovers, let me explain.......
I have a active data connection.........
phone is on 3G, everything fine
phone switches to 2G, data connection is still active, no problems
phone switches to 3G, data connection is broken and the radio reboots (scrolling dots ect.)
I can (and have) replicated this with EVERY radio from 1.27 to 1.41 (and I do mean EVERY radio)
I've also tried EVERY WM6 rom out there all do the same.
so I can only think its T-mobile playing up, its just strange that everything worked fine with WM5 as I remember (and no Im not flashing back to find out!)
Hi, I'm in the Netherlands. Just tested the 1.40 because 1.41 disconnected all the time. So far so good (5 calls later..). Downgrade went fine with the customRUU. Regards Bas

Interesting - it might be worth to check, but here in London it's actually hard to find a place where phone would switch itself 3G->2G. But anyway, I had problems not only on T-Mobile UK network, as I stated in first post, so I rather think it's Radio ROM related problem, more than network.
Sorry...I've been to positive. Right now only incoming calls come through. Outgoing is still a disaster. I'll downgrade to 1.38. Ill let you know if this works..
Currently in Thailand on DTAC, an EDGE network (all their GSM networks here have EDGE).
Radio 1.40: Voice calls were okay, didn't seem to have any problems, until I tried using data (gprs/edge). The data connection was completely unstable and unusable. Downgraded to radio 1.38...
Radio 1.38: Everything okay so far, EDGE data and voice calls.
Same boat!
Yup, same thing here with T-Mobile and the 3G/2G thingy.
Though I must admit 1.40 is pretty sucky anyway, 1.41 was worse.
Considering going back to 1.38, I've forgotten what it came with 1.2x or something, which, for its sins was pretty OK.
Oi! T-Mobile!! Sort it out before I head back to Orange!!!!
Actually, forget that rant, no point taking two steps backwards and starting to pay per MB again!!! LMAO

One more thing, which just came to my mind - in the original T-Mobile's MDA Vario II Extended ROM there is a file called P_rilgsm_patch.CAB, which could be related to Radio. Maybe this is a key for these problems? I guess this patch is network-specific - well, I believe this patch is there for a reason...
Btw, I've just downgraded to 1.40...
Error message flashing Radio 1.40.30
Hope someone can help me with this. I'm encountering an error message when trying to flash to radio 1.40.30. I have Custel 2.5 installed on a JasJam with Radio 1.41 currently.
When I run the update RUU program and click the AutoDetect button, I get a message that says "Error, Unknown version! You should pick SSPL".
I have HardSPL7 installed, so my question is, is it safe to force SSPL? Is that what it is asking me to do?
Thanks.
Nevermind, I think I found the answer finally - it only took many days:
1. Select "2.10 new..."
2. Tick "Is it HARD Spl?"
And then run the update as per normal.
where is the link to downgrade the radio 1.38
thanks

OK, but how to actually copy/send rilgsm.dll file?? Each time I have 'File cannot be copied' message, or such like... :-o
Btw, what happened, when you applied rilgsm patch?
i now get a "E" icon instead of "3G" and the radio seems slower handing over from 3G to 2G and back (thank god my stairs are 2G only!) I've sent you a PM on how to copy that file.

GPRS Problems in WM6

Hey guys,
I recently upgraded my T-Mobile UK MDA Compact III to WM6.
I now have an intermittent problem with the GPRS/Internet. Basically, if fails to connect.
From what I've read, I think I need to delete my current connection settings, and then run the CAB from the WM5 Rom.
Has anyone on T-Mobile UK, done this with success? If so, can you point me in the direction of the CAB file you used?
Cheers,
Tim
I just set mine up manually.
Go to T-Mobile Website, click on phone support
http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/phone-support/
enter your phone number and follow instructions for setting up MMS and you get a .pdf with instructions to set up both GPRS and MMS.
Delete any current settings and follow the above instructions.
I too am getting these issues. I have recently upgraded to the WWE dopod WM 6 rom (official HTC release) 3.7.707.1. I started to notice that if my phone was out of reception for any amount of time GPRS would fail to reconnect until a soft reset was performed. I have added the radio 02.94.90 to try and resolve this but no joy. I have added the GPRS settings exactly as per the TMob site again no joy. GPRS Auth is set to PAP which I think is correct.
One point to note is that I have not installed any items from the Dopod ext rom.
Once I have soft reset the connection will be fine until I lose reception again.
Hi,
Same issue here with all WM6 ROMs I've tried so far (to at least some extend). Most noticable is irritating behavior in Google Maps with WM6. In WM5 when the connection is unavailable the GPS tracking just continues till data comes in again. In WM6 the result is an error message. It's one of the reasons that makes me consider going back to WM5 for quite a while now. New features are nice but if old ones aren't at least as solid as before it makes no sense when you need them.
Recently I bumped into the every same issue you describe (requiring a soft reset) with B&B 3.7.. Which is a step worse in terms of stability then what I experienced before. At the same time there have been periods that I don't bumb into the issue. So I'm not sure what the cause is. My guess is that it's triggered when you've been in a bad reception area for some time.. But I don't have any hard facts to confirm the exact trigger of the problem.

I thought i'd try hard resetting my phone today to see if it would help but still no joy. the problem appears to affect voice as well as data and only occurs after at least 15 - 20 mins out of reception.
any ideas folks? I would go back to wm5 but the tmobile rom isn't available.
Hi All,
I have thesame problem previously with my Wizard. Found out that one my today plug-in is the culprit. The plug-in is "Battery Status Today ......" the one that shows the , Operator's name, speed, temp, V, A etc of your PPC on the today screen.
I dunno whether this is true and working for anyobe but in my case, my GPRS back to normal after after disable the plug-in. You can try the same too.
Other way, is to disable all non-standard today plug-in, test your Egde/GPRS with connect and disconnect(pressing the red button for more than 3seconds).
Activate one plug-in at a time and do the same test. Hopefully, you can indentify the problem and solve it.
regards,
morisa
Downloading the O2 ROM to see if that helps.. I have a feeling it might resolve this issue (fingers crossed!). I will post back here if it does.
Cheers
Alex
Once off the tube this morning my phone connected straight up and downloaded my emails. I hope I'm not speaking too soon but I think the O2 ROM has resolved the issue which would suggest it is a bug in the Dopod SEA ROM.
I will probably get the radio upgraded to 02.94.90 at some today and test that too.
Cheers
Alex
02.95.90 is now available

Unstable voice call and disconnection calls attempts

Hi Guys,
Experienced a bad problem here for Dopod D810, whereby experienced voice calls poor quality sounds and calls tends drops dramatically a while even network signal fully signal coverage or less coverage.
Please share your expertise comments.
well I have a similar or near similar problem, with my HTC P3600, and the Vodafone netowork in Greece. All out of sudden, although it seemed that the signal was good, i could not make any calls and then suddenly the phone stated that there is a missing or invalid sim card on the phone. I tried a second one and showed the same problem. Updated to rom 1.46.XX.11, but no luck. I am currently running WM6 (LVSW latest version). I will go back to WM5, but I think it is a hardware problem and not a software one, as I have read some posts here on other devices from the HTC group.....I just wished I had to avoid sending it to service, cause over here things are a bit on the slow side...
try using a different radio rom, what WM6 rom are you using?

Going back to original from the box settings, the card was no longer missing or invalid. Maybe finally it is a software problem after all

Upgrade caused GPRS over Wifi connections, recommended to HARD-SPL??!!??

Hi everyone, I am new to this topic and have only spent more time reading some of the topics relating to Hard-SPL, Roms etc since I have a had an issue with a recent upgrade of ROM supplied via Vodafone.
I have upgraded from the shipped ROM version 1.37 to 1.97, since the upgrade i was impressed with the slight changes that Vodafone had made to the screen response, and dialer slider ... BUT... wasn't impressed with the fact I am now being charged to access Windows Live, and Hotmail.
I used to be able to sit at home and access my wireless and just check my mail, since the upgrade being connected to my wireless it still connects via GPRS.
I have spoken to Vodafone and expressed my dissappointment, and they did lower my Data plan, but still it doesn't resolve the issue that i had a service which changed without notification.
They asked me to just go by my usual usage under the GPRS for the next five days just to review my usage and see how much of an impact this would make, works fine under GPRS, just a bit miffed now I can't use a feature on my phone, anyway, I went back to vodafone after 5 days and told them that I hadn't been able to download anything through my GPRS i.e attachments on emails.
I am looking to try and get this back to normal with my connections, Vodafone told me to think about doing a HARD-SPL on my phone, to check the version and to upgrade it to my phone... I have read and read and read... Now I have guides on how to do it and understood what it is for I am now confused which version I should be going for and Which ROM, I'm very worried to 'brick' my Diamond, it's the best device I have had.
BTW... Vodafone said doing this wouldn't void my warranty... that has to be a lie!!?
So I was wondering if anybody could help me to find a Hard-SPL version, ROM, Radio version that I require to upgrade my Handset I would be most greatful.
I checked the information from re-booting my phone with the down volume button pressed and dispalys the following:
DIAM100 64M
SPL-1.97.0000
Many Thanks
