Latest TCPMP Player? Cannot play WMV with audio using .81RC1 - HTC Excalibur

I get an error that states TCPMP .81RC1 cannot play Windows Media Audio...
What's the latest out there for TCPMP? Or maybe a good alternative?

I just tried CorePlayer. Man that app sucks. TCPMP plays videos as they are intended...it's just missing Windows Media Audio.
CorePlayer: slow, choppy
TCPMP: great
Same settings for both applications

That's funny that you think CorePlayer sucks , 'cause that's the final version of TCPMP. . CorePlayer is the version that you purchase. Have you tried the previous version of the .81RC1?, it's the .072RC1.

try playing the pre-installed videos - if they play fine then your videos must not be encoded correctly
Yep you right they run just fine....
Is there a way to just put all extensions on media player to run??
Thanks comeradealexi
encode using this application.. it's kinda slow but the output is GREAT...

coreplayer can run nearly all codec types but unfourtunatley WMP cannot there is a thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=459676 on how to encode your videos for WMP but if you want to use coreplayer your videos may have to be lower quality since coreplayer cannot utalize hardware acceleration
Thanks comeradealexi and DaRkMyk!!

The very best media player

hi,
i'm looking for an awesome media (video) player for my phone.
i'm looking for a good video player that can play a lot of different file formats.
avi, mpg, mpeg, mp4, wmv, etc.etc.
on my laptop i use VLC, and i really love it.
but i can't find a mobile version of VLC.
anybody has a clue for an awesome videoplayer for my phone?
The latest version of TCPMP plays a whole slew of formats. If you want a media player with alot of functionality, Kinoma Player (shareware) has many different functions. Not sure all the formats it plays.
There's Core Player, a branch of TCPMP that is a pretty smooth video player as well. Finally, DivX has an app for WinMo as well, so you could give that a try.
tcpmp and core player are the best on my opinion
i've looked up tcpmp on the web, and found a page about it on http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-tcpmp-v0-72rc1.html but it doesn't seem to be the right one.
when i instal the cab, the program says on startup "unexpected program error, send crash.txt to the developers......".
so it doesn't run on my pocket pc.
i tought i found the tcpmp website with http://coreplayer.com/ but it costs me 24 bucks.
the free version is very difficult to find.
any ideas?
i found yet another release on this forum.
that one seems to be working a bit....
but the movie quality sucks big time.
the sound is on and off all the time.
the picture is shocking...
it's looks like the phone has to work really hard to let me see half a second each time.
it's like:
the audio........... is not .......... like it's ............. supposed........... to be..............
(and the video is the same).
am i doing sometyhing wrong?
I had to look really hard also for a 6.1 TCPMP. Then on this site there seem to be quite a few different ones. I got mine at http://www.mobilitysite.com/boards/1059593835-post107.html it says it is version 4.0.3. But it is open source so people do whatever they want with it. Mine is pretty ugly to look at, but it has always worked (except for the initial crashing - see below). Would like a nicer looking version.
Which one did you download?
This fixed my crashing "If you are having issues with no video or the crashing issue on the HTC HD2 this may help you, You will need to go into the Video settings and change the Direct Draw --> GDI and it should resolve the issue you were having."
i don't remember which one i downloaded... wnloaded about 5 of them from different sites.
i installed all of them (one at a time) to see which one worked best.
the one i've got is worked the best way... but like i said it's shocky... to say the least.
i'll try the one you just send me.
i don't care for looks, i just care for video quality.
i can't believe that a simple viedeoplayer can be so difficult to find on windows mobile.
isn't the whole idea of mobile windows, the idea that you have a mobile version of windows?
and isn't windows also (largely) used for different kinds of media? e.g. video, music etc...
windows media player is the best...

Brenda/Vinnie...I don't know if the version at the link below is the one you're using, but check it out and see:

Brenda, I'll still give you a hand getting prepped for the upgrade if you need, I just haven't had much time today to sit down and work on that
TBH I find it alot easier just converting movies and using the HTC player. The Videora TP2 converter does its job perfectly and I like having the movies in the HTC album. Easy access, smooth playback.

the video player is only pops up when you play a video file on the touch pro2...there isn't an icon, tab, or anything like that...
i can vouch that videora is an outstanding programing for converting video for use on the touch pro2...i have the metal gear solid 1,2 & 3 cut scenes on my device...!!!

looks pretty good... but the thing i'm looking for i versatility (i probably wrote it wrong...).
it has to be able to play avi, mpg, mpeg, wmv, mp4 and a lot more if possible.
is this player able to do that?
looks are not important, performance is!
till thus far, tcpmp isn't good enough (it.... plays..... movies...... like..... this...... ).

How do you play a video file so the HTC play can pop up? Do you click the video file from explorer, RESCO or Total Commander type software? I do not understand.

What movies are you trying to play , I dont think you ripped them right or if you got it from some websites , sometimes the copy isnt good. Dont just blame the media player.

You can access them from the HTC album tab just like your photos. That, or tap them from explorer.
EDIT: Granted they are in the MPEG-4 format you get from, for example, the Videora converter I linked.

i'm not to sure how good the quality of the file is.
all i know is, it's a 700 mb avi file that plays beautifully on my old laptop with VLC running on win xp.
now i'm trying to play that same file on the video player you linked, but the quality is awefull.
the audio stops and starts playing every few seconds, and the video just 1 frame a second (and every now and then, it skips a few frames to catch up with the audio).
i personally just think that nobody bothered to make a descent video player for win mobile. OR (and please forgive me for saying this), the phone simply sucks totally (mostly because it has win mobile on it....).

[Q] TCPMP settings

I use the Energy rom and discovered TCPMP player but i can't get video's playing smoothly, so wondering if someone here can play video's well on their mobile..
Maybe i convert video's in the wrong format but they do play well on the mediaplayer.

We're still waiting for TCPMP to get hardware acceleration, while Windows Media Player has it, that's why your video works in WMP but stutters in TCPMP... As far as I know there isn't a version of TCPMP that supports hardware acceleration but I may be wrong...
you're not wrong

[Q] Alternative music player?

Hello,
is there an alternative music player that supports HVGA? I found Mortplayer but there ist no skin available for HVGA-Screens, so I would be forced to create an own one...
Thanks in advance
I`am also interesting about some alternate music player.
Now i am using core player, but it is not wery usefull because of the small buttons and folder icons. And standard player has no oportunity to play folders...
Thanks for any advice!
TCMP player
The included Windows Media Player?!
The best player you will ever fiend is S2p
you can find it on this forum yust use the search you will love it like i do
I totally agree! S2P is the best music player. I've tried many players
Sent using RapidRead!
AVRCP working well on S2P
Also AVRCP works perfectly and easy on S2P! I will go for it!

yes they do
I`ve tried s2p, and, as for me, it sucks!!!
It can`t play folder, every start it need to update database, and the interface on HVGA resolution is as small as the coreplayers...
And it leaves files s2p2.tag in every folder (Why I must store this garbage on my phone and PC)
TCPMP, as I understand, is an old version of CorePlayer? Or i am wrong?
P.S. Sorry for my english
What version of s2p You are using.?
Baadshah555: S2P v.1.4
I tried Nitrogen, and it seems to me very good, but there is no normal skins for HVGA. But it has a very fine SkinTools, so now i am workin on my own skin for HD mini, will share in few days...
Here is my HVGA Scin for Nitrogen. Inspired by HTC HD mini Radio
