I use the Energy rom and discovered TCPMP player but i can't get video's playing smoothly, so wondering if someone here can play video's well on their mobile..
Maybe i convert video's in the wrong format but they do play well on the mediaplayer.

We're still waiting for TCPMP to get hardware acceleration, while Windows Media Player has it, that's why your video works in WMP but stutters in TCPMP... As far as I know there isn't a version of TCPMP that supports hardware acceleration but I may be wrong...
you're not wrong

Wich player can play MPEG2 from stream?
Want to watch my streams from the dreambox (wifi), coreplayer cant play this.
interesting subject....
coreplayer & kinoma don't have mpeg-2 codec
vlc player is so old and brakes strongly
tcpmp don't play stream also...
Pocket Player can play from stream. It is primarily an audio player but does a few simple video formats and codecs, even youtube flv. It probably does mpeg2.

Pocket Player don't play.
PictPocket Cinema too.
Anybody?
great question...anyone found anything yet?
You may try this: http://pockettv.com/
I haven't and don't know whether it works but they claim to support mpeg2.
I couldn't find how to play directly streaming media in FAQ !
Please report results if you try it !
Hello
is there any solution to play mpeg2 stream on HD ?
with coreplayer you can hear sound onl
Older version of TCPMP can play MPEG2
Yes, but it can take MPEG-2 streams.
It's old and does't support WM 6.5. Anyone pwiseeeee?
Even if it does the speed of the wifi is slow and you will have to wait to cache it... So copy paste it and play it from storage... or convert it to mp4 first.

n/o, but don't exagerate with the topic title
on:
use mp4hd in combination with windows mediaplayer --> hardware acceleration
In core player, go to 'Options' and then 'Video'. You can try different video settings in there, which make a big difference. I have mine on GDI, and I also set quality to low, as it doesn't really make much difference on a 3.8" screen.
The only thing I find core player useless at is playing wmv files. I use it for everything else.
Hope this helps.
John.
Sorry - yeah, for MKV files, you'll need to convert. Try mkv2vob. I use it to convert mkv files to mpeg files for my PS3. It's FAAAAAAST as ewt!

Try this player:
Thank you so much for the responce,
I have tryed the divx player before, it worked horribly, most time video was choppy, and sound never worked. has anyone been able to get coreplayer to work, or is their another player?
I use Coreplayer 1.3.6 and works great for everything. What problem are you having with Coreplayer??
oh I was using version 1.2.1, and it wasn't working, now I tryed Coreplayer 1.3.6 and it works Only now i have a new huge problem, it doesn't support ac-3 audio codec, all my videos use ac-3.
Is their any way to fix this?
Divx
I tried Divx too and it had a font size of 1-2. Even when I guessed the right button to play something it would only play on a 1 inch square screen. It was like everything was miniaturized. I had to uninstall.
Just updated to the new MX Video player.
My MKV's plays without issue, smother than Diceplayer!
Yes works much batter then dice. Just tested 720P mkv, plays smooth in hw mode with subs.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
no HW acceleration for me.
Me either.. Its abit choppy - SW decoder fast mode works best for me plays nice and smooth. Also if its been updated for ICS why do the buttons still remain on screen :|
same here HW doesn't work on 720p video
..couple of days I bought Diceplayer ,avi films works fine but after doesn't work anymore;-(I updated MX player and works amazing ;-)thx
Two things:
1. When I play 720p MKV file locally it plays nicely in HW. But when I play the same file from network share, only software decoder works and subtitle no longer loads.
2. TXT subtitle in the format beow does not display correctly:
1
00:00:00,200 --> 00:00:02,300
/Previously in "xxx"...
2
00:00:02,500 --> 00:00:06,800
Line 1,
Line 2.

send your avi files to diceplayer's dev ( [email protected] )
I'll fix it.
Will be interested to see how my batch of test videos goes on the Nexus with various players... will link to my findings here when I have them!
Yeah, diceplayer works fine with mkv files, but not so well with xvid avis. It is a bit choppy, and ac3 audio plays ahead of video. I bet there will be an update soon enough.

Probably depends on files, all AVIs I have tried played without any problems. But still, most of my files now comes in MKV format.
There is one MKV that no player can handle It's a free sample so it's ok to share: http://www.filesonic.com/file/4051381924/killa.sampla.x264.mkv
After last update, software buttons get hidden in full screen mode, nice.
Any chance for WMV HD hardware decoder support?
K wait so MX Video ... are they still inferior to DicePlayer because it isnt hardware driven? I have read the thread and saw Dice doesnt do well with some formats in some cases but.. I cant decide which to get.. MX Video looks a lot nicer but the DicePlayer market page says it drains less battery and it takes advantage of the Gnex's omap processor for video so.... ehhhh
any thoughts
If MX is said to do everything in software, than why does it show Software OR Hardware decoder option while playing files? Some files get played in Hardware, some in software, all depends on codec. Try both. In my case, subtitles support is important, so most of the time I use MX, but Diceplayer is nice too. Whenever file doesn't play in one, I try the other. Neither is perfect yet.

I have problems with some xvid avi files with MX Player. But even so the decision is easy at the moment because the developer of Dice Player has problems with his checkout account and you can't buy Dice Player at the moment.
Try the free version. AVI's lag for me

Try the free version of MX Player first and see how you like it. MX Player has lag for me in AVI's (standard def) with hardware decoding selected. I have to choose software decode (Fast) for it to play properly.

I have the same problems with xvid avi files, but i can't enable software decode. Regardless of what options i choose in decoder settings, the xvid avi file is always played in HW mode (amazingly an h.264 mkv file is always played on Fast SW mode with the same settings).

Try play this MKV file locally from the phone, not over the network, it should play in Hardware. If it does, then mount your network drives with CIFS Manager and they will play in Hardware too.
How do I access menu?
Hi guys,
Now that mx player hides the soft buttons, how do we access the menu to change the options? I can't seem to find the … button anywhere.

Played it locally, i don't use streaming... the mkv is played smootly in "SW fast" mode, but the xvid avi is not played smoothly in "HW" mode...
So I've been searching for about a day now for a solution to this problem. I've been trying to play MKV files on my phone, but every single player i've tried (mobo, mx, rock, vlc nightly, bs, dice, and vplayer) have been really stuttery and the audio desyncs massively.
It seems that most people are able to play MKVs but for some reason I can not get it to play smoothly at all.
Has anyone come across this and know a solution?
(the file I'm trying to play is a 720p h264 mkv with aac audio. I would put up all the file information if I knew how, so I can if someone shows me)
I'm really sorry if there is an answer to this somewhere, but I tried a search here and only got a thread talking about how everyone can play MKVs smoothly
Are you running a stock Rom or one of the aokp or cm roms? With stock I haven't had an issue with any mkv even on my previous sgs and sgs2. Are all mkvs having problems or is it just the one ?
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda app-developers app
dude i can stream mkvs without problem
mx player by turning the software decoding on in settings
or vlc player beta
It seems like it only happens on 10bit MKVs. MX Player is the best with software decoding but there are still some dropped frames. I saw a video of someone playing 10bit perfectly fine and a thread saying the S3 can handle 10bit so I'm not exactly sure whats wrong.
I'm running TuchMi 5.0 so I might try to go back to full stock just to see if that helps.
I would try the VLC beta but US can't get it from the play store and the nightly crashes constantly for me.
EDIT: full wipe didn't help
make sure you got the 1.7 update, for me the audio would get out of sync on any anime but with H/W+ that is now solved and i got back DTS thanks to custom codecs.
Software is horrible for me it plays fine, but everything gets artifacts and colored blocks etc. At first i though it was the device that god it wasn't
I have 1.7. H/W+ works for you? it keeps telling me that I can't play the video with it. Can you give an example of and episode that works for you?
Actually I'm curious about this too. Just tried to stream Planet Earth from my PC and I had huge lag because if you are streaming on MKV it uses software decoding...
To be fair I might have to push up my VSEL values...but I really doubt that's the case. Another thing I'm going to try is PS3media server which TRANSCODES (meaning your computer does the coding) for all media files...so it is streaming everything converted for your phone. The annoying thing about it though is that it won't automatically start with my computer
A third alternative is to setup a vlc media player server.
