I tried to setup active sync on vista, but the program didn't work
You need to use windows mobile device centre for vista, google it and download from microsoft.

Installed and connected ActiveSynch 4.0 successfully via USB. But it won't synchronize with my Outlook data. I'm running Outlook 2002 SP3. Error messages are:
1. When ActiveSync 4.0 is launched. But Outlook is already set as the default mail client.
"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client."
2. When synchronization is attempted.
"Synchronization cannot start because this desktop computer cannot access necessary information. Restart this desktop computer and synchronize again. If the problem persists and this desktop computer is running Microsoft Outlook 2000, open Outlook 2000, click Help, and then click Detect and Repair."
Before upgrading to 4.0, I was running 3.8 and USB synchronization was working fine. But now when I uninstall 4.0 and reinstall 3.8, ActiveSync will "connect" with my XDA II and report the status as connected, but when I try to open the ActiveSynch window, it won't open.
Please help. Thanks!
AS4.0
Which ROM version in your device?
I think that, ActiveSynch 4.0 used only for WM 2005 Magneto OS and very compatible with outlook 2003 (in my Himalaya)
I very much appreciate all of the expertise here on this site and am hoping that somebody can give me some help on this. I just refreshed my computer from XP SP2 to VISTA and am not sure how to sync anymore. I know that there is a built-in Windows Mobile Device Center, but when I connect my HTC Hermes to my PC, it appears to want to sync only music and video files. I have been unable to figure out a way to sync OUTLOOK 2007 mail/calendar/contact items. If any of you can point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful!
Thanks in advance,
Austin Moran
When I upgraded to Vista a few weeks ago, I had to download an update for WMDC. You might want to check here, or plug your device in and visit Windows Update.
Update for WMDC
You need to download the new synch SW from MS. Read...e.g. upgrade guides
im current problem is that when i open windows mobile device center it crashes and i can see my tytn , im currently not aving any outlook is that that the reason of the crash ??
i don't think lack of outlook is a problem, unless perhaps you have set wmdc to sync with outlook (reinstallation or adjustment of connection/sync settings will solve this)
make sure you have:
-unchecked advanced network functionality on your tytn (under settings/connections/usb to pc)
-make sure you have the latest version of wmdc
also try reinstallation of wmdc, soft-reset, pc restart
you should also read mrvanx's guide its really useful
here's a link to mrvanx's upgrade forums, you should choose 'configuring windows VISTA'

i had wmdc crashing on me whenever i connected my 8525 as well. windows data execution prevention was shutting it down.
i had to go into the windows registry & delete the existing partnership information before i could get it to work again.
i have vista at home and at work. any version of wm6 i've tried with my device couldn't sync with my computers. it connects, it asks me wat to sync but than nothing.
is this a vista problem or wm6?
be sure you have activesync 4.5 with wm6
wm6 don't work with activsync 4.2
for vista you should download the newest windows mobile device center..
i have the latest windows mobile device center. Is there a vista user that cand sync with wm6?
I used to sync my SPV M3100 with Windows Xp SP2 and Activesync 4.5 without problems. But now I try to sync it with a Microsoft Windows Mobile laptop with Windows Vista. I have installed Device Center 6.1 for Windows Vista (32-bit).
When i connect the PDA to the PC, the PC recognize the device and install drivers; Windows Mobile Device Center recognize the device and I can see it in file manager as a unit and i can access the files on it. But when i try to synchronize it gives me an error (something like that it was no possible to open a network connection) and i see that the name in Configuration-> System->About->Device Id->Device has changed from the one i have (F_M3100) and i see in File Manager and in Device Center to another one (htcxx, where xx is a number, not always the same.
The IP address is 192.168.55.101, mask 255.255.255.0 and DNS 127.0.0.1 (I think that these are default values because I have no put them).
¿Anybody can help me?
I have not mentioned that i have windows office 2007
Office 2007 makes no difference - it works OK.
Not heard of your problem specifically but you could try going into active sync on the device and removing the existing connection profiles...worth a shot.
Smiffy.
