Hello,
I was synchronizing my HTC dash with my new PC and I forgot to change the setting in the Microsoft Active Sync to be; replace all items on the computer in case of conflict from replace all items on my device in case of conflict... So now I deleted all my contacts...
ANY way how can I retrieve them???
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Thank You!!!
Tony
You cant. This is why you should always back up your contacts (and all data)
Contacts can be backed up onto the SIM card and you can use a service like Google Sync, Dashwire, MS My Phone etc to keep a back up.

Hi all
Well I finally managed to get an upgrade from my loved IIi to Exec.....
However how do I transfer my contacts from old phone to new 1...I tried beam, I tried synching but laptops outlook is dead (2007 thing!), Backup doesnt seem to exist in Exec..so cant back up and then restore
Any ideas???

What I did with my o2 to jasjar was copy my contacts to the sim card then took it out and trasfered to phone.
I dont think when a contact has multiple phone numbers it will copy those...it deffo wont copy all the address, contact grouping info
u can try
syncronizing yopur contacts alone to outlook and then making a new partnership with your new device
it copies everything

That's right. I'm afraid that AFAIK there is no other easy way to sync your contacts. I suspect that you would be better off fixing your install of Outlook.
use any bckup sw i.e. spb bckup, choose only databases and restore in exec and everythink is done. depends what U choose, if U choose email also, it will recreate Your email account settings(user name,pwd...) easier, faster ... than m$hit outlook

Use Jeyo Outlook Extender for that
Need help from the experts! I did a search on this forum for my issue and I haven't been able to find one.
I don't have Outlook on my PC. I hooked up my phone to my PC and I have Activesync 4.5. I had synced up the phone and all I did was transfer music from the PC to the phone. Now I don't have any contacts at all! I looked to see if it was on my SIM card and I don't see anything. I don't know where to look in Activesync for my contacts. Please HELP!

you may want to see if your contacts are listed in outlook express or another email client you may have on your PC. One of the options you may have done (i know cuz this has happened to me b-4) is this: when you first create an activesync partnership it will ask you 1.) if you want the items on your device to be replaced by the PC, 2.) if you want the items on the PC to be replaced by the phone or 3.) do you want to merge the items. If you picked option 1.) and didn't have any contacts in on your PC to be sync'ed then what will happen is ActiveSync will remove all of your contacts out of your phone to prepare for syncing of contacts from your PC, (even if there are no contacts on your PC). I'm afraid that unfortunately, unless your contacts have been stored somewhere else, (Like Outlook express, or an MSN e-mail account like hotmail) you're kinda out of luck.

Pretty much capped it right there. Good job.
How can I find out which way I went from the options you mentioned?
I don't think you can unfortunately. I would definitely delete the profice from your pc in activesync so that way if you do get your contacts back this wont happen again. The reason why i say this is because if you do this, you will be re-prompted select one of the 3 options mentioned above.Even if it's not option 1 that you selected. What's done is done and can't be undone. Meaning that even if you did see which option you selected and changed it to option 2 or 3, your contacts will not magically come back.
Hey all,
Someone stole my Dash =( and now I'm probably going to get the Android - I was wondering how I could recover my contacts... I've got Vista, so it syncs via device center, and I know I did have them syncing.
I thought they would be in my Outlook address book, but none are there; nor in my Windows Mail contacts.
Did something go horribly wrong? Or is there way to find them?
Thanks
Y don't you copy them to Sim card?
I'm sure on the Dream, you'll be able to transfer contacts from sim.
My phone was stolen... I don't have it or the SIM card any more.
There syncing on the Outlook. If they where not there then you have to get them one by one
I just reinstalled my OS on my laptop and i must not have backed up my outlook contacts properly cause they were not importing from the file that i thought had them. i had them all on my phone and thought i could transfer from the phone TO Outlook. I was trying to check the settings in activesync to make sure it doesn't just delete the phone contacts with the blank outlook database, but before i looked it had already deleted everything, leaving me now with zero copies of my contacts. Is there any way at all to retrieve the contacts from somewhere in the phone or am i dead in the water? Thanks in advance
Contacts ALL gone....
You need to use Pim Backup in case of these events. Its freeware and available on the forum.
I keep playing w/ Microsoft Activesync, but I can't figure out how to just save my contacts into a file on my comp, so if I have to reset it, I can just drag it back onto the phone and viola. Any advice? I googled it and couldnt' find a step by step. I'm a huge newb with this, so it's much appreciated
Search for PIM Backup... That backs up everything, inc messages, call logs, contacts, e-mails etc
+1 for PIM Backup. Also, Microsoft My Phone works very well too. You can get it in the Marketplace.
If you have synced your contacts to Outlook via ActiveSync, you will be able to sync them back to a new phone or after a hard reset.
Dashwire also works great.
i use active sync with my gmail acct, my contacts get sync to google.
as an idea, the good part is when i flash roms, i just need to add the active sync back to get contacts back.
I use activesync to backup my contacts on my computer and PIM Backup to have them on my storage card, which has come in handy MANY times!
