Hey guys,
I found this application to watch free "OTA" tv broadcast from Japan.
Found it on this site:
http://xorsyst.com/japan/watch-japanese-tv-online/all-comments/#comments
dl from:
http://www.v2p.jp/video/english/index.html
Just put the application anywhere and run the .exe. Audio is not great, crackles quite a bit and not sure if that is because of the quality of the broadcast. It is actually P2P so will use wifi or your data. I tried both but the video is choppy and audio is not clean. You can still watch it... but not the best. Reminds me of old youtube or bad VCD. Any ideas on how to make this smoother/better experience? Is it bad because the original stream is low quality?
Was looking for gameshows and dramas.
I am running jacks 3.1 full Asian with 1.11.25.71 radio.
thanks

Good stuff, I love Japanese Drama as well.
great, going to give this a go as well. Was looking for stuff like this
are you guys having any issues with quality/lag?
a CAB file anyone? ^^
I found another. http://pages.tvunetworks.com/downloads/player.html#
PC works fine, not sure if there is a winmo version out there? or someone that can port for us?
I have not had much success with PPStream even on PC (I get lots of lagg, can't seem to buffer well and limited channels I actually get) but is also another option
Thoughts?

hi all
I had been here for a while, I got the impression that the best HTC device is the o2 exec. so I am getting one.
I would glad if you can clear out the following points from someone who already owns one:
YOU DONT HAVE TO SAY HOW TO DO IT, SIMPLE ANSWERS WILL DO
1- does skype work fine like the pc version, if yes then does it work over Wifi and gprs?
2- can you play high reolution videos, since I would like to watch movies on my exec, can you divx, at what resolution\ bitrate.
3- is there a problem with tom tom 5?
4- now the most important question, how well does the exec handles games. I am mainly looking at worms, might be playing some 3d games.
and mainly will be playing playstation one emulator.
5- is it possible to unlock the phone i.e. using diffrent networks? how much would it cost?
thanks for your time
edit: mod feel free to move it if its in the wrong place
Hi I went for the XDA exec because it looked better in black then the other SP versions.
answers for you.
1- does skype work fine like the pc version, if yes then does it work over Wifi and gprs?
>>Yes have used it over WIFI not used it via GPRS- quality is still not all that.
2- can you play high reolution videos, since I would like to watch movies on my exec, can you divx, at what resolution\ bitrate.
>> Yep I use The Core Media Player (TCMP) works great for Divx etc
3- is there a problem with tom tom 5?
>> You can get tomtom5 working but needs alot of tweaking, loadz of info on the forums.
4- now the most important question, how well does the exec handles games. I am mainly looking at worms, might be playing some 3d games.
and mainly will be playing playstation one emulator.
>> I play worms world party works a treat no freeze ups or lags.
Havent tried another realtime stratgery game (cant remmber the name sorry) worked great.
5- is it possible to unlock the phone i.e. using diffrent networks? how much would it cost?
>> Most of the Execs that have been bought come already unlocked I bought mine from o2 online and it was unlocked, but mate bought his from the store and it was sim locked, so depends on were you buy it from, dont know if the ones now being sent from o2's website are sim locked or not.
I belive O2 charge between £20-25 for the NUC- but not to sure on the price.
There is work being done on this site for an unlocker.
thanks for your time
>>My pleasure mate iv got no complaints so far on my device and im geting my monies worth out of it.
N2h
thanks for your reply,
can you clarify on the video quality, does it work at 640x480 @ 30fps without glitches, the best way to describe the video quality by knowing the maximum bitrate it can play.
As for games, if anyone can share his experiance with PSX games that would be appreciated.
if unlocking cost around 25 pounds I dont mind paying it.

I had to play with the settings initially to avoid a 15 secondly pause of a few secs, but I notice no problems now - couldn't tell you if it's keeping up with that bitrate or not, all I can say is that I was playing the latest ep of E-Ring on it this morning and it was gloriously lovely. Alternatively, when you stream the movie over wifi, which I did for something I'd forgotten to install to SD card, the bit rate goes down when there is a lot of movement, but not uncomfortably so.
With a screen that small though, you could probably re-encode it with tempest or something, and have it play at 320x240 with little visible loss of quality and 30fps regardless of wifi.
This device really does do it all... all I need now is remote control for my PC winamp via wifi, and I'm sorted...
SkyFire Update, www.skyfire.com
Youuuuppppiiiii !!
Iphone is dead
Still it hasn't a native WVGA resolution.
Native WVGA or not. It does what it says on the box. Just watched a video review of a bmw on Whatcar's website (an embedded wmplayer video). Video doesn't seem to maximise resolution (much like watching mobile tv from Orange france) BUT didn't notice any lag. Pretty cool! Will play around with it for a while and see what else it has to offer

It's true it isn't really WVGA quality (more like streched out vga). However, it is great to be able to see flash based websites..
Hope a true HTC HD version comes out soon..
would love to try it if it ever got passed the screen i attached (below) lol. Looks great on the video, jsut doesnt seem to work on my HD
Had the same problem until I removed and installed again.
Just installed it. Got it working but all the content is very pixelated. It's kinda like it's stretched VGA like was said before. Uninstalled it, I'll wait for native WVGA.
This 0.9 version is much better than the 0.8 version I had. Still some work they need to do (real WVGA for one) but it still is better than anything else I've tried.
It's nice to finally be able to use Skyfire on our HDs. I didn't notice any major improvement since beta 0.8 (which I used to run on my former KS-20). Actually, videos don't seem to be as smooth as they to be on my old phone and moreover, there is no sound at all. The little speaker logo (to mute/unmute sound) which was displayed on the bottom right corner is not here anymore. And yes, the rendering is not as nice as Opera's, it's more pixellated.
But besides that, Skyfire is still a great browser, and I'm looking forward the future releases.
Love deezer work
But Keyboard still not here on theweb page, Deezer for exemple it's impossible to search or login without keyboard ....
Soory for me English

works like a charme here, but indeed, the pixalation is to much...

Anyone using this on edge?
Anybody in North America using skyfire on edge connection to stream videos? Hulu, maybe?
Quality is reasonably good on my Athena and i-mate 6150, but that's at 3G. This is my major concern about the Touch HD not having U.S. 3G bands.
Any feedback about your experiences will be greatly appreciated.

Can you get Freeview tv on the desire?
If so how do you get it?
I have unlimited Internet with T-Mobile
You can get an app called Beebplayer, which is all of the BBC Channels, and Radio station, plus the have catchup on there too.
As for full freeview, I don't think we'll get that until Flash 10.1 is available to us, the you should be able to use the TVCatchup.com services on their website.

Talking of which, I read on their forums that there was talk of an Android app/version/something but with now ETA to date.
Nope - to receive Freeview the phone would need a DVB-T receiver and decoding chip, and it has neither. It maybe be possible to stream some of the Freeview channel in various ways (flash through the web browser, or with apps like beebplayer), but its not really the same. A slingplayer app could possible achieve this too (again by streaming the channels, but in this case from your own TV/PC etc), though I doubt if there is one for Android yet.
An external freeview tuner would be great, but I'm not holding my breath.
mobile tv
I think you better use this one is BEST
http://www.yamgo.com/watch-mobile-tv.html
It is designed for windows mobile
or see the other post about TVCATCHUP.COM, they now have a bigger tv stream compared to YAMGO and also better quality.

I find that TVCatchup doesn't really work too well. but Yamgo is fine.
YMMV of course.

So as we've all figured out by now the Evo runs flash in the main browser (as well as Dolphin, sexy!) but Netflix denies the browser as compatible...
Workarounds?
I know the app is coming "sometime", but this is something I'm willing to end lives to have.
Thanks!
It is probably denying it because it lists it as a mobile browser. You would have to trick it into thinking it is like Firefox.
I know Netflix only allows a set list of browsers, but I'm not sure how to make my broswers report that they're different...I can't even get "about:debug" to come up!
Let me see if there is any type of app available to spoof the browser information. I know there is on the iPhone, but not sure on the Android.

I think netflix is all silverlight now. I could be wrong though
It is silverlight so it won't work. I got it to think I was a desktop browser, but can't run silverlight.

Thanks! Can you please post the steps to making it work on a phone that isn't out yet, with an app that isn't out yet, on a limited data connection (assuming 2GB is even worth 30 a month, and while I'm traveling so Wi-Fi isn't an option), with enough speed that watching it isn't a terrible experience, with a big enough screen to actually see what I'm watching, and then make a phone call that stays connected for the length of the full conversation?
I'll give you a moment to think it all through, thanks
At the speed Netflix is getting me happy it might be WinPho 7 time...
I hate my self for saying that!

Copy the movie to your hard drive (or leave it in a shared DVD drive)
Install Orb (free) on your PC and configure it to that directory.
Install Orblive (9.99) from the Market.
Watch your movie.
Tip 1: Test the free version of Orblive to make sure it works OK.
Tip 2: If you get too much buffering on your phone, play around with the stream settings in your Orb account.
With ORB you can:
Watch any video (avi/mpeg/DVD)
Listen to your music library.
Monitor home cams.
Watch live cable TV (with a compatible tuner)
I posted this for those that may not have heard of ORB, however, I concede that most of you have.
Hope this helps.

why get orblive for 10 bucks, when you can just navigate to mycast.orb.com and log in with your orb info, and it costs nothing?

For the same reason I used to drink Michelobe instead of Busch, or drive a BMW instead of a Chevy. Some people simply want the best that's available. I bought the EVO not because I needed a new phone, but rather because I wanted it. So what's another 10 bucks to enable it to watch live TV on it? Yes, you can log into your Mycast account, but that method is not nearly as convenient as the app. The purpose of my post was to try and help this person. Some people try to help instead of hinder, which again, is another characteristic of quality.

Or write an ffmpeg script yourself... The interface is terrible in orb anyway. I was able to do transcoding with ffmpeg and it worked well enough over 3g to be awesome. And you can even stream stuff over http which is cool because you don't even need an app on your phone.

I am looking for a cheap emulator box but primarily will Ouya as a replacement for my ATV1 streaming device.
I stream video from certain XBMC addons and was wondering if anyone can provide feedback from streaming video through XBMC on a Ouya?
Thank you.
So far (past week or so) my experience has been very impressive, I have been streaming my personal movie collection via local network) however for some reason (think I remember reading they screwed something up in their firmware update) the ouya crashes and hangs via ethernet, I was starting to get really peed off, read that, pulled the plug; all good!? DTS currently doesn't work (someone please correct and enlighten me if I'm wrong), which is a pain in the yaris, but is apparently "in the works", the ouya team seem like a bunch of active awesome people though, so I have full confidence they will work with the XBMC dudes fully to get that sorted! I was previously using a sumvision cyclone nano slim plus mk3 (1GB RAM version) with an adapted XBMC 12.0 version for the Pivos Xios (same beast essentially) which was flawless! I am yet to venture down the route of plugins though, so my response may be useless!)

I successfully use 1Channel / SportsDevil / TVcatchup / Twitch.tv on my two Ouyas. I've recently set up a Google Music addon that works great too.
This is both using the original sideloaded XBMC and the one available in the Discover menus.
I stream a lot of MP4s across my home network, thogh it seems to struggle a bit with XVids for some reason.
I use it to watch movies and shows from mashup, 1channel, sportsdevil, icefilms and few others. Everything works really well and I only have buffering when everyone in the house is using the WiFi. Even then its not bad. May happen once or twice a show if that.
