Hi All,
Can someone please tell me how to edit the registry to change the default Audio player from Windows Media Player to HTC Audio Manager.
More specifically...
I'm using
LVSW_Trinity_WM6_v2.0.1.1 (2007-05-27)
with
Cyberon Voice Commander 2.0
When I use commands like "play music" or "next" I would like the program to use Audio Manager (or any other player that not Windows Media Player).
Also,
With Voice Commander, does the program have to be active to use the voice commands or there a way to use voice commands while voice commander is running in the background?
Use Resco Explorer. Tap and hold the media file in question, from the menu that appears tap 'open' then 'open with...' you will get a list of programs or the option to browse for a program. Select Audio Manager (if it's in the list or browse to it if its not. Check the 'Always use this program to open this file type' box and click done. Voila
Cheers Mate... You're a legend. So simple, no need for registry editing.

if you use a regeditor goto
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT]
look for you extension ie .wmv
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.wmv]
it says in there
(Default) WMVFile
goto
Code:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WMVFile\Shell\Open\Command]
@="wmplayer.exe \"%1\""
change wmplayer.exe to whatever you use

Strange Problem with HTC TP2
I have an HTC Touch Pro 2 from US Cellular - stock rom - I have only modified a few little things...
Anyway, I recently used File Explorer to change my default media player for MP3 files back to Windows Media Player - and now my phone won't play MP3 ringtones or alets! WAV files still work, but if I select an MP3 as my ringtone, it won't let me play it - and when I close the screen, it reverts back to a default windows ring tone...
This is driving me nuts - and I would prefer not to do a hard reset if at all possible! Please help!
Never mind - I found the issue - in my registry under MP3 file info - it said "MP3-File" - then I compared to WAV - which said only "WAVFile" - so I changed "MP3-File" to "MP3file" - and walla! Fixed
How do i make a media player the default player for microsoft voice commander?

Hi,
Is there a way to limit the path of where HTC Audio Manager will search for files?
I just want to force it to one direcory and ignore what else is on the phone.
Thanks.
Is there a way to change the default audio handle on HTC Home? I'm using a small add on to change it to HTC Audio Manager but it doesn't seem to work, probably because the audio manager is installed on SD.
Is there a reg key for this?
Thanks!
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Music Plug-In
"1" = Windows Media Player
"2" = Audio Manager
Not sure if it will cause the problems with storage card. dont forget to reset after reg change.
You can also somehow set it to a specific location, I'm pretty sure HTC Home Customiser allows you to do this, but however it does it, doesnt always 'work'.
ya I think I've tried this, just upgraded to PDACorner WM6.1 ROM. Everything else is running smoothly it's just the Music Launcher that doesn't seem to launch anything but WM.
I've removed it from the Today's right now... till I can figure it out!
Cheers,
Sam
I was looking for this as well, want to add in an option for TCMP to run instead of audio manager or wmp.
Theres been a few roms where its been replaced from what i can see in search.
I am trying to change my default media player from WMP to Audio Manager.
I have made the changes in Schaps Advanced Config and in EmuNutz HTC Home Customiser.
I've scanned my registry to find anything that looks remotely like a rogue entry, but found nothing.
Am I going mad, stupid or both?
When I play .mp3s via RSS Hub, they pull up WMP every time. File manager shows .mp3 files with WMP icons and starts up WMP when double-clicked.
What am I missing?
I have flashed with 2 of CRC's ROMs, PDCorner's, and now even gone back to good old Randomise's. Problem still persists. Checked out my SD card for rubbish and can't find anything.
Does flashing re-write the whole registry, or could some "rubbish" be left in there?
Any clues would be greatly appreciated.
Hi all,
I’ve googled my problem but cant find a solution sadly.
I am using PDAViet.net’s DVH_V25_NoBS and when I try to add my music to Windows Media Player, it finds all the tracks but then freezes at the ‘Adding files..’ part.
I’ve resetting and so on but it will never get pass that stage. Right now I always have to listen to my music via Menu > Open File.
All help is appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Jason
i had this also. i dont know were it comes, any special mark or something but i format my card new and now it works.
Use HTC Audio manager. For me its much better. I dont use WMP for music.
delete the hidden folder on your sd card msmetadata, i think you can only do it from the phone itself
then update your library again, you may want to plug it into power and walk away for like 10mins.
i agree with using audio manager but media player can save your playlists on the card rather than the phone
thanks for the replies.
which HTC audio player are you guys using which is hassle free.
mind posting the .cab?
many thanks in advance
(BTW, where should one go to look for files like this on the forum? is it in a sticky?)

Click to collapse
File Explorer->View Options->View All Files (or View Hidden Files).
Then delete the Storage Card->MSMETADATA directory (yes, the entire thing).
Then you can Update Library from WMP and all songs should add.
