Cooks Help needed.

Just a little bit of info needed as I am new to all this cooking ROMS.
I am using the Core Kitchen which I have found easy when extracting a ROM and I have been using the schaps ROM as it contats the RGU files with the packages as oppose to the Black Roms which dont and I am not confident enough to be able to sort out that mess yet.
The question is in two parts and I hope you can help me a little.
Part 1: when you extract the ROM what is contained in the OS.nb file the reas on I ask is I want to get a Basic from MS ROM so I can start with my own ROM building as oppose to someone elses (VERY GOOD I MIGHT ADD) ROM.
Part 2: where can I get the RTM M$ WM6 ROM from a rom without any modifications or any added packages just the M$ PDA/PHONE ROM.
Please help this is the only two bits that im really lost with.

the last time i checked, it was still there.

Not sure im new to all this myself as you can prob tell.
Vanilla ROM has too many missig files that I cannot even find according to the tutorial with CORE an official ROM wont have any missing files schaps only has 1 which i know where to find it so can put it in the right place.
It just seems easier to want to start with a RTM official M$ rom and build on it rather than hack bits out of an already cooked rom.

Where is this? (it's early for me, is it in the wiki?)

Its on the Wiki i looked at Cooked Roms on the main wiki page and then it gave me a list of them that were avaliable. Vanilla was on the top of the list.

you can also give a look at the Dopod ROM posted here in the forum... even that its not the newes build, it has nothing added/mising; it could be a good start point.

if anyone knows where I can get a later build RTM that's not cooked already you would be number 1 on my xmas card list lol.

I would suggest you spend a little time in the upgrading section. As far as a stock windows mobile 6 rom, the problem is there aren't any yet. Although I think some upgrades may be coming along in the next few months. The roms here are pieced together from other machines or pulled from unreleased versions. I don't know of a true "stock" hermes wm6 rom at this point. You could get a WM5 rom to practice with which would show you what to expect, and what "comes with" though.

About the Kitchen
New Trinity base rom 3.03.xxx it might fix some driver and memory problems
OS base: VF Kaiser UK 3.08.161.0 (Build 19199)
OEM Apps removed, but you need to clean up the OEMDrivers package
I did not do any changes to the OS, because it should be a clean base Kitchen for all of you
Full XIP editing supported by the Kitchen
New tool to merge all dsm files to one big file and delete all rgu's
I think the OEM package to SYS problem should be solved... but did not try it yet
How to use it
Requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package
OEM and SYS can be used as known
The content of ROM\XIP will be used to create a new XIP section for the OS
You don’t have to worry about relocating modules... add/remove whatever you like and the new tools will take care of relocating modules or freeing RAM
.VM and .ROM is updated automatically
Actually this Kitchen runs in auto mode, which means you only need to run BuildNB.bat to create the ROM. You can change that by editing the bat files; made it this way, because I don’t use the options in BuildOS.exe
I consider this a perfect port of the new build to this device
Replaced all XIP SYS packages (I did not just changed coredll.dll to get the new build number)
There were also boot.rgu changes my MS, those have been added too
SYS is completely untouched

when try to connect to internet, a tome limit messafe appear.....
in bepe's kitchen for hermes was into shell32.exe module, I changed it, but nothing to do , messagte appear!!!

the problem is:
while I'm sincronizyng the pda with pc by activesync, it stops to work, and time bomb appear:
in hermes 3d someone posted the solution, a fixed shell32.dll module, I've used it too, but the message puntually appear....
any suggestion about???

Updated the RK to build 19199 ... this is a final AKU1 build, so I really recommend to use this one
I dont have a woking device anymore... so please someone try the RK and tell me if the resulting ROM is booting. (please without making any changes!)

I try the new bersione witouth any changes and it boots but there is some problem with some character in setting tab as can you see:
For Commanager and HTC Home plug there isn't the mui files that are in OEMLANG but for strange carachter for left softkey and tab setting?

Need the WM6 Softbank & HTC ROM - 4 better WM6.1 cooking

As u all know that some files in the OEM r diff for HTC, Dopod & Softbank ... in order for a better WM6.1 ROM, I need the WM6 Roms ...
Hopefully somebody can put up links for the req roms.
Or just provide me wz the dump(raw also can do)

What do you mean "not original"???
If you sim unlocked your phone, now it probably has Dopod Rom, so it's no good.

Sorry if this a a stupid response - if you need the original WM6 ROM image, can you not extract from the ROM's stored on the XDA FTP Server :

One question..... in the HOW TO the last step of the files says "a valid signed official Touch ROM.". Maybe this sound a bit dumb, but... i guess that I need to use the Cava ROMs right?

upload it in asapload.com, will b fine wz me ... see the howto in 1st post of this thread

I MIGHT be able to convince a friend to 'DUMP' his ROM. I am new to all this.....
What exactly does this do to the phone after it's dumped? Can he use it on softbank, or does he need a new ROM? Is there anyway to screw it away and 'brick' his phone?

nothing will be done to the phone it wont brick ur phone, refer to the thread.
I have made a WWE version of the softbank rom ... not in Japanese yet ... cant find the correct language files that work on WM6.1 ...

It is a 5 minute job to change the header....I don't see what all the fuss is about. Learn how to change the setting yourself and then you can try as many ROM's as you like. It really is simple....it has to be if I was able to do it.
Building a ROM to specifically suit the P3600i is a lot more involved....that is why we have only had 2 Chefs able to do it....
Hopefully you will not find Touchflow 2D etc too draining on resources. Personally I prefer the simple ROM's.

A quick search gives you all the information you need.
Look here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=399827&page=2 at the 2nd part of Post 20.
That allows you to be able to change the header.
As for building your own ROM.....keep reading....I am sure the info is here as long as you have the time to find it and understand it.

Unfortunately it is trial and error. Some work and some don't as you can see if you look at the P3600i Working ROM's thread.
To be honest I am not sure if the Karmba_a ROM will work as I haven't tried it.

I am not sure it`s work for P3600i, from K`s ROM there is BT problem before,so is there anyone test this version BT is OK??
And one thing,this version 5.2.22222 is fake,5.2.20755 that is true version hope that all use 5.2.22222`s ROM maker change to 5.2.20755,

1. I am not surprised if BT does not work... there is a cab that you can install to fix it

The cab that is under Mr Smiley in the P3600i Working ROM's thread may fix it....if there is a problem.
Until someone tries it no-one will know.
For me...reading the thread....there are too many issues to even bother.
The ROM I currently use is perfect and while Manilla 2D looks good I don't think it is too functional on Trinities with their limited memory.

Once they're finished, I will spend sometime to learn to cook (pizza... oops i meant ROM)... or even convert from P3600 ROM to P3600i ROM
There is a small community out there who've got P3600i like mine. So just wanna help them... For me, it's more interesting to learn something but I wouldn't mind use any ROM. It's a joy that I can cook a ROM that works for my PDA. Hope that I can join the xda crews

I just sent you an e-mail with a link to a file you may want to try out....Karmba_a 11.2 needs more work to crack it as it is in an Executable format and I really don't have the time to play with it at the moment.

i907(epix) rom dump done, build and upgrade thinking

there is a offical release rom upgrade for samsung i907, it is a exe file.
杖剑天涯 from xbeta tried it , and get the nb0. I have get the dump files.
Just use a file osnbtool.exe, which is wrritten by Weisun from pdaclan.com.
Rename the exe a simple short name like Samsung.exe
then run the following in DOS mode.
osnbtool -sp Samsung.exe
osnbtool -sp Samsung.exe.BIN.NB0
osnbtool -d Samsung.exe.BIN.NB0.OS.NB 1 xip.bin
osnbtool -d Samsung.exe.BIN.NB0.OS.NB 2 imgfs.bin
the rest work is just kitchen work.
the next thing is build and test it.
flash the rom is another difficulty. the pda part could be flashed separately would be better , just like the i617.
BTW: osnbtool is a so powerful tool. I hope more people can use it. and it is from China.

Is it WM61 or WM65?

wm6.1 20276. of course you can port to wm6.5 , if it can be flashed to the device.

Ah damn still WM61.. I wanted the OEM part to fix the mouse bug under WM65

Sweet! Sounds like there's finally some progress in the Epix updating. It's got a lot of potential. Hopefully the chefs out there can make use of this and get something lean and mean cooking.

Seriously, let's get cracking on this.

for real, right now i dont care if i brick my phone im so tired of the dum att rom... plus i got insurance

if i knew how to cook i would be on this in a heartbeat (probably cause i own the epix and think its great outside the att crap)..
Anyone willing to atleast get the cooking started maybe for a bit of $?
