anyone knows how suddenly the screen doesn't respond anymore?
I cannot even boot into windows, it needs the calibration, cannot even switch it off because i need to tap "yes"!!!
Any ideas? It is brand new and i have tried several roms but cannot go beyond the boot green screen.
Thank you.
If you get to the align screen when you do the align screen it just restarts the align screen process over again right ?.....if thats the case i had the same problem i sent it in to htc and it was covered by the warranty
is that right - you try flashing one rom, after flashing get not rospense.
than you try an other rom but same equal.
is that correct?
but you can long press with dialog yes/no.
for "clicking" yes press only action-button
(the big round thing in middle)
Can you access the device from windows (see it as a removable drive?)
If so, you can create a "welcome.not" file from your pc and copy it to the internal storage. This will make it bypass the "align screen" steps when you boot up.
The file just needs to be an empty file. Create a "New Text Document" on your desktop, rename it to "welcome.not" and place it in the root of your internal storage (if you can access it).
Haven't tried this on my Diamond, only ever on devices with an external microSD, so I'm not entirely sure that it will work. It worked for me when my TyTn II screen broke. Once it's done, you can use a program like SOTI Pocket Controller to navigate around the device more freely from your PC.
This is good for diagnosis of problems, and enabling you to flash back to stock ROM and SPL for use of your warranty etc. but I'm afraid it seems inevitable that you'll eventually need to replace the screen, which hopefully you'll be able to use you warranty for.
no, actually, i don't get to the alignement screen, i'm stuck to the "tap the screen to start using....bla bla. And cannot go further cause the screen dosen't respond. not even to shut off. Completely no response to the taps.
thank you i will try it but any idea where to get the original uspl? It is a device from france, i've got the original rom from htc site with the serial number but i still need to get it to the original uspl right? now it has the unsigned olinex, no good for a warranty, right?
and anyway the guy who sold it to me he's overseas for probably a year so...bad luck for me.
AFAIK, you need to know what the SPL was before you flashed Olinex's. I doubt there is a way to find out what it was, unless you know someone near you who had the same device at the same time who hasn't CID unlocked theirs.
Unfortunately, I've never been in a situation where I've needed to use my warranty, so I've never flashed back, but I would guess the best thing to do is to try looking it up, doing a bit of research to try to make an educated guess as to which version you might have had. It may not matter if you're slightly out, I don't how fussy they are or how rigorously they check. I would guess that as long as there is a stock SPL, it would probably pass for the original and they wouldn't look twice. Don't quote me though, like I said, I've never been there.
If anybody thinks I am completely and utterly wrong or has experience of returning to original stock ROM and SPL for warranty purposes, please feel free to correct me!

Hi Guys,
I am aware of how to upgrade a ROM, how to Use HardSPL and how modifying in general works, although I think I may have really broken the phone now.
I had OliNex 1.40 installed since forever. I have used several Roms in the past including EnergyROM, Ahen's Roms and I have currently been using Makeveral's BSB6.5O Rom, and it was working great.
The last time I tried to use the unlock, i tried to flash it with the 'Subrata' unlock package (the one with Step 1,2 and 3' folders. It didnt work both times I tried so I gave up. It said it was unable to write to the phone. I reflashed with BSB Rom and all was well.
Today, I found a seperate unlocker. It was a simple .exe file that opened up what appeared to be the 'CustomRUU' application. The screen initially went black and then the program said that it lost connectivity. I did read that it used Cmonex HardSPL but I did it anyway (I take responsability for this error) and from then on, the phone will not boot. No matter what combination of Hard reset button combinations I use, nothing happens. No vibration, no light around the centre button that I can see, nothing.
So is there anything, anything at all that I can do? Or have i totally F**ked it?
I have also done alot of searching both on here, PPCgeaks, all the forums.
Let me know, cheers guys.
I had a similar problem: Screen was black, no reaction from the phone. But i was able to connect it to my computer, it was not really detected, even though
i was able to flash a new Rom with a Custom RUU. Perhaps you could try that?
Try to change the rom . Pull out the stylus , Press the reset button and hold the VOLUME DOWN and the right down button . After connect to pc
The phone is in an Off state - I recharged the battery in it overnight - no white glowing ring around the centre button. No combination of buttons work - nothing happens and the device is off still.
OK, regardless of what has happened, Ive sent the phone to Victoria (Australia) to be repaired or replaced under warranty.
I just hope that it is so scrambled that they cant figure out that the device has been toyed with - will keep everyone updated!
btw - does anyone understand what technicians with more advanced tools would be able to determine (if anything)? Do they use special hardware to view the contents of the ROM or how does it all work?
thanks friends
Well..not exactly, but they have probably tools to examine the flash/memory/parts of the phone. interesting question
Update!
I sent the phone away to the Three mobile repair centre - the phone is back, fully repaired and Running BsB again.... just awesome.
it seem they replaced all the components of the phone except for the shell itself, I dont really know why they didnt just replace the phone? lol
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I told them the phone wouldn't boot after an overnight charge - thanks 3!
Sorry for bumping.
I have the same problem! I used the same program; 'DiamonCustomRUU.exe'
The screen became black. I can't open the bootmenu, soft- and hardreset doesn't work
It's a Dutch branded Vodafone TD.
I have to send it to Vodafone for repairing?
I have been waiting nearly two months for HTC to get on the ball and release the official version of Windows Mobile 6.5 so I could download it and see if it's worth using as my main phone OS. But they have been lazy and have yet to come out with it. So, I got impatient and began looking into the roms that were already available and how to flash my phone to get them to work. The first step I read that I needed to do was unlock my phone. However, I forgot what the text said at the top of the page (here's the link to the program I used, if that's helpful): http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=36062. So I proceeded to use the Diamond Unlocker (as that should have been a huge tip-off to me then, but this was my first ever unlocking experience, so I had no idea what I was doing) Now, my HTC Touch Pro 2 from Verizon won't even turn on. It won't go into a bootloader screen, absolutely nothing happens when I press power button, the reset button, or a combination of any of the buttons on the device.
However, when I plug the phone into my computer, a device does pop up: Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM. I can't get anything more than that, though. No software drivers will install, it does try very hard to find some though.
Any help, advice, tips, tricks, random guesses, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all your help.

Good luck,
Buttons don't respond.
I can't get my phone to turn on or even go into bootloader mode. So, without that, I don't understand how I can flash a new ROM onto my phone.
And hello to you as well.
I did read that link, but none of the button codes worked, and my phone isn't responding to the Hard-SPL that I started when my phone was connected. It says that it cannot find the device and I need to resync it. But I start Windows Mobile Device Center and it can't find my phone either.
However, an interesting new development is that my phone, every now and again, starts charging when connected to my computer. The light turns orange, and my computer picks it up. But it does this for a bit, and then it changes back to nothing.
If you can't access the bootloader using any of the methods detailed here, then I hate to say it, but your device is probably bricked. It's really difficult if at all possible to recover when the SPL (AKA bootloader) is severely damaged or completely destroyed. There were some tools a while back to help recover from nuked SPLs, but AFAIK they aren't compatible with the TP2, and you have to be security unlocked, which I can pretty much guarantee you aren't.
Your best bet would be to take it back to the store and play dumb, saying that it "just stopped working" in the hopes that they'll give you a new one, but there are no guarantees it'll work. Best of luck
That's what I need to know
Thanks for the information. I just needed to know what to do. I can't access the bootloader or anything even similar to it, so I am just going to get it replaced and then be much more careful in the future.
I have flashed my at&t tilt 2 with core cell evo v1.2 & it was working fine for awhile but now my screen is just black i can hear the phone make sounds and all but can't see the screen at all i really need help fixing this as this is the only phone i have any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.
i may be wrong but from what u have described... ur having a Sleep of Death (SOD) problem. have u tried takin out the battery or soft reseting the phone?
heres a link to a potential problem solver. Try to stay away from CHT lock and auto update apps!

yes i have done both and after the phone reboots i can hear sounds but i am still unable to see anything on the screen
Edit - I take that back, if it's still not working after a reboot
Have you tried entering the bootloader and re-flashing with the stock ROM?
If you can't see anything at all on the screen, no splash screens etc, even after soft-reset or entering the bootloader, then it sounds like you have a hardware problem (screen failure).

"PLEASE HELP"
It's a tricky situation. So if you hold down Volume Down (and keep it held down) and press the reset button, then you still don't have anything come up on the screen ?
How about if you try a hard reset, does anything come up then ? You can hear the phone making sounds, so it seems like it's just the screen ?
Putting the charger in doesn't help, does it ?
You could try flashing a stock ROM from SD card and seeing what happens.
You might well have to send it back under warranty with HardSPL still on. In that case, if it was me, then if they tried to say the warranty was void just because of HardSPL I would argue very strongly against that and ask them to prove it - e.g. how can HardSPL stop your screen working ? I don't know what country you're in, but in the UK I think our consumer protection laws would have something to say about that.

I've never flashed via SD, so I could be wrong on this. But I thought it was still possible. I see that the instructions (in the sticky on flashing ROMs) say to put it into the bootloader and "follow the on-screen instructions". I wonder if it's possible to just wait for a while and then press the appropriate key ? Though I don't know what the "appropriate key" is.
Perhaps someone who has flashed via SD can comment further, e.g. as to whether it's possible to do this without seeing the screen ?

man i really need to fix this maybe you can ask around for me since i'm new here & really don't know anybody on this board
I know it's frustrating, I'd be kinda worried if I had an apparently-non-working screen too. But please be patient, and wait for more people to see your posting. The folks in the US will be coming online around this sort of time, so there will be more people looking in and hopefully someone can help further.
Flash without seeing the screen
Enter boot loader even if you can not see the screen. You can flash your phone to stock then enter boot loader again and hard spl. I had a similar situation and was able to complete the process and warranty repair with AT&T no problems, or you can pay to have it fixed at an outside shop. I was quoted 150 and refused to spend that muck so I flashed the phone without seeing the screen...
I saw your post over on Sergio's thread but decided to answer you here.
You do have a blown screen, no doubt there. How that happened is not really relevant.
My best advise is to connect your phone to your PC and wait for the activesync connection to come up. Once that happens you know you have a good connection and can flash. Run the RUU (or exe) for your stock ROM, the on screen (PC Screen) prompts will let you know if it can't proceed. Once the stock ROM is back on it, follow the same procedure and put the stock SPL back. Then send it off to get the screen replaced.
Hope that helps

can somebody please help me i need to reflash my phone but i am unable to see anything on my screen when i plug it up to my computer activesync is not working so what can i do please i really need help with this
Flashing witout screen
Step 1
Enter boot loader mode (* Remove the back cover from the phone.
* Hold the Volume Down button.
* Use the stylus to press the reset hole.
* Or if the device was powered off, press the power button whilst holding down the Volume Down button.)
and attach to computer. (wait 30 to 60 seconds)
Step 2
Check device manager for HTC mobile sync under mobile devices.(Active sync will not work in boot loader mode)
Step 3
Flash using Rhodium CustomRUU on your PC. (use original ROM from At&T.
Step 4 repeat for Radio
Step 5 Use Stock_SPL_Restore_087.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131 repeat the process with it.
This should work it did for me. Let me know if you run into problems.
The screen on my phone mysteriously stopped working yesterday. I can answer a call by dragging my finger where I usually do, but nothing will make the screen itself turn on.
I need to restore to factory defaults and get S-ON back in order to take it to T-Mobile for help or a warranty swap, but I am having a hard time doing anything without the visual cues that my phone gives me. I'm reading the wiki, and was trying to push the stock image through ADB, but it tells me "cannot stat <filename> : no such file or directory".
Do any of you wonderful people know what I might be doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated. I've had a blast with my rooted phone and CM7, but at the moment I'm wishing I'd left everything stock so that I could get my phone fixed easily. I doubt that will stop me from rooting again, though.
Thanks to everyone who makes this place such an interesting and informative read.
UPDATE: On the 5th try, I was able to move the stock image to my sd card, where it is called PC10IMG.zip. But I still can't run it, because I can't see the bootloader screen to know which button to press to allow the flash. Is there a fastboot command that would do this?
I had the same problem, to get it to work again just keep opening and closing with enough force but not enough to break the hinges. Eventually it will turn on and you will get good at swyping. The other stuff you're talking about I don't know. Hope hat helps.
So, hey guys, i've used this site a lot in the past, but now i need some help / advice, so i've registered. The following isn't going to be pretty but i'll explain it as best as i can.... infact, i can paste the email i sent to Sony asking for advice, it was this morning, i don't know if they operate or care
Hello people at Sony, my stupid head appears to have bricked my Xperia Arc S Android phone, it was still under warranty until i decided to unlock the bootloader, then i was having trouble restoring it back to stock android, this resulted in me trying to lock the bootloader. But alas, nothing now happens except a lonely green light flashing every so often, if i hold down menu, a blue light appears, which is charming, but then it dissipates and im left lonely again. With just a bricked phone and little dignity.
What are my options, by rules, it's void of warranty, can it be fixed? Can i pay for it to be fixed? Will my Natwest Insurance cover it on the grounds of Accidental damage (My stupidity) and Breakdown due to electrical fault, that being, no electrical softwareness is been transitorized.
I decided to go custom due to the wait for the Xperia update for my phone, out of the 273 S-I variant versions of the Arc S, 246 have gotten the update, but not mine, months had gone by, day turned to night, night turned to day, and i got desperate, i decided to root... for the first time. (And now last)
What i did learn, apart from technology will rise up and defeat us all, is JellyBean works very well to some degree on this phone, HOWEVER, the lack of Flash player caused bad results when playing content, im not sure what piece of code on the JellyBean CM10/Paranoid Android release was rendering it, but if you can get past the lack of flash for this and render images in its mobile bravia engineness then it will work a treat, and i mean it, it really did run well, obviously it was customness, but i digress...
Can anything be done? I do so love my Arc S, and just so you know, if it can't be repaired and I have to change phones, it will still wear the brand logo... Sony Ericsson... and if its your newer phones, that lack Eric's Son, i shall scribe his name proudly across the top with a sharp implement with pride. (With the care of an Adult, or someone equally minded)
Thank you lovely people over at Sony.

So, basically it doesnt boot, apart from it does vibrate with button holds and the LED flashes. I tried flashing it with flashtool and stock ROM, but flashtool came back saying it needed unknown sources and debugging mode activated, which makes me think, it could be salvagable and not bricked, however how can i change those settings if i can't get into the phone itself, is there a bypass?
On a side note, i can Hold Menu, plug the phone into my computer and it goes into blue light mode, i cant remember the term for this
but its what i was using for flashboot, you reckon i could flashboot out of this? I was trying so many different methods to try and custom rom my phone that everything got confusing, which was best to use etc, and on another note the phone never booted when i tried to relock it, so im unaware if it finished, it didnt boot at all, and this is the point im at now.
Fortunately i picked up a Xperia U for £135, second hand, actually cheaper than my Arc S second hand, crazy really, but you can see why with the size difference and a couple of small spec differences.
Any help would be appreciated. This isn't obviously the best situation but i'm wondering if anyone has encountered this stupid mistake i've cast upon myself XD
Thanks in advance.
Wait...
I've checked the fastboot status of my phone using Flashtools, and it says my phone needs to be rooted first... hmmm it was rooted, maybe it got undone with the bootloader thing, i guess i can try but i can't access the phone to debugg or allow unknown sources.
Hi Stu15,
The fact that you can boot holding down the menu button is good.
You can probably flash a custom kernel onto your phone this way using the following command.
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
If you have a rom that you want to use, then it usually comes with a custom kernel (called boot.img most of the time) inside the rom's zip file.
Most custom kernels have CWM recovery built-in, and here's the trick to enter recovery -
After you turn on the phone, wait for the hardware keys to light up.
Just in case you miss this, the coloured led will light up purple at the same time
When this happens, press (and release) the "volume down" button once or twice.
Then you should see CWM recovery in a few seconds.
So what you do is copy the rom to your sd card (just plug the card into your computer to do this).
Then flash the custom kernel that came with the rom.
Then boot into CWM and flash the rom (you should clear the cache and the dalvik cache before flashing the rom).
If you don't have a preferred rom, then have a look at this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653188
It has lotd of helpful links, near the bottom of the 1st post are a few roms you can try.
I hope that you come right.
Take care,
Hotfingers
Thanks for the info, ive tried this and apparently my phone isnt rooted anymore, it must've locked itself why i tried to undo the rom install, my recovery wasnt working so i was left with little choice. I can try and root the phone but i dont think it will be possible without accessing debugging mode, which is in the phone.. doh
im going to try adb commands to try and work something, then insurance claim. woop :/ lol
[EDIT] IM BACK, im in lol, i managed to find the command to unlock the bootloader, so now im back into CWM, the problem is the recovery doesnt work, so im reinstalling the original package, go into the phone, usb debugging and unknown sources, then i will flash it with stock ROM, should work. best work, i dont know why i did this in the first place... guess i had to learn XD
