Hi Guys,
I installed the Hard SPL as instructed in page 1 of the tutorial, as I intend to put on the newest official ROM. In boatloader it shows its installed. However, after the new HardSPL was installed (which seemed to install very quick ) the bettery will now only last a rediculous 6 ish hours! Without any use!
Do I need to install a new ROM to fix this? My bettery was about 60% charged when the new SPL was installed, after it showed 100%
Im currently on : -
Rom version - 1.93.405.1 WWE
Rom Date 08/06/08
Radio Version - 1.00.25.03
What the newest officail ROM I can install?
Thanks for any help as Im having to charge all day
try discharge the full battery and then fully charge. This should take your battery back. Then use normal for some days and report here again.
Hi, I have also noticed this...
I put HardSPL 1.40 Olinex and then installed Cloudys 1.1b ROM,
Since I did this at the weekend, I have noticed my battery life has been reduced quite dramatically... But I'm not sure if it's the HardSPL or the ROM!?!?!
Anyone got any ideas???
HardSPL cant be a battery drain since it only used when you turn on the phone or are in bootloader mode.
Some roms have memory leaks that affect the battery performance but I dont belive this is the case.
In my opinion you are suffering from a strange "battery memory" problem (ok I know ion-lithium batteries shouldnt have this). As I said try to fully discharge and then charge complete.

I experienced extreme battery drain with certain HSPL and ROM combinations. After upgrading to Unsigned HSPL 1.93 I decided to go back to 1.40 as I never had battery issues with 1.40 in any ROM.
AZTOR's X2 and SchaksP 3.2 with HSPL 1.93 chewed up the battery quickly.
I am now on UDK R3 with HSPL 1.4 without ant battery issue.
Thanks Guys,
I'll give the battery a full drain and recharge - see if that works... If not I may have to try a different ROM.
Cheers for the help guys.
I'm new to all this so you will have to bare with me
Is there a thread that shows benifits/ drawbacks of each ROM? looking through them all is sooooooo confusing.
There aren't any benefits or drawbacks to any of the ROMS as they are 'user specific'... So what could be a drawback for one person, may be a benefit to another user!
Be careful how you ask about ROMs as soooo many times the question has been asked - 'Which ROM is better?' no-one will answer this!
The best way to find out which is better for you... is to have a go and try one, if you don't like it, try another untill you find one which suits your needs best.
Hope this helps
OK cheers mate.
Hard SPL 1.40 here and running Shaks.P v4.00 ROM
I noticed that my battery is draining very quickly as well.
Using radio 1.09.25.23
Anyone else?
Use any of the 1.12/1.13 SU radios.
Very good battery life, as well as good GPS fix times.
The best I've seen till now.
It totally depends on what rom are you using...Just try different Radios or Ask in your rom's thread for the best radio. For example the best one with Nataly v2.1.1 is the Radio 1.08.25.20
I dont think HardSPL has anything to do with battery drainage. you should look out for Radio and the ROM you are using instead.

I upgraded to 1.09 radio and used it a long time before the official version came out with ROM 2.3 and never had an issue with Unsigned Olinex 1.40 on any ROM. As soon as I upgraded to Olinex 1.93 the battery got hot and lost it's charge rapidly in combination with SchaksP 3.2 and AXTOR X2. I decided to go back to Olinex 1.40 and Udk's Syrius HD for a long time (never changing Radio 1.09).
However, I did not test all combinations possible to clearly identify the culprit. I still need the phone for work
Maybe this answered my question re battery issues. I have noticed that after I have flashed my diamond, the battery would last just a couple of hours for GPS use even with a charger. I have tried a number of ROMs and they are all about the same.
after you install the hardspl your phone is hard reset. from what i have seen it takes a while for the phone/WM to figure out how to use the battery to its full capacity again.
I'd say give it a few days and it should correct itself?

Just something I'd like to share.
Like most of us here I've been playing around with various WM6 ROM flavours and Radio versions.
What I have found is that there seems to be a relationship of some sort between ROM versions and Radio versions. A relationship regarding stability, speed but also battery drainage. Certain Radio versions simply don't go well with certain ROM versions I have found.
At the moment I am running Schap's WM6 4.31 Lite WWE ROM. Superb ROM BTW.
The Radio version that I have found to be the most 'matching' is Radio 1.51.00.10. It's stable, battery life of this ROM/Radio combination is fantastic, HSDPA works great and it doesn't slow down my TyTN.
I've tried lower and higher Radio versions with Schap's 4.31, most were also stable but there were other issues, like incoming call issues, HSDPA access and speed, battery life not that good, Bluetooth connectivity issues, or the responsiveness of my TyTN decreased dramatically (the latest 1.54 Radio ROM).
Who else has the same experience?
i only hace the 1.54 radio, but i try the older ones immediately, although m hermes is very responsive (crcs 6.1 release 6 ;-))
Regards
I allways flash the OEM Rom with the Radio that I want to use. Then flash the cooked rom.
I tried the 1.51 radio rom version with crcs 6.1 release 7 and it had a horrible power drainage... with 1.54 i had the best so far ;-)
btw: i have a herm300 if there's a relationship^^

Doesn't matter but: It's better to get the radio 'seated', 'tested', & working 1st. Then if all is well, flash the OS rom (u must have hardspl installed for both).

well, after testing 1.54 with the release 7 I have to admit that the power drainage is still very high... it seems like the release 6 was the most energy saveing in adversation to release 7 wich looks like the heaviest power consumer ever ;-)

After trying six or seven WM6.1-based ROMS from three different cookers (19199 and 19209), I'm starting to wonder if there's not something 'seriously' wrong with the WM6.1 base image.
I begins to strike me as some sort of duration-based memory degradation. My experience has been that runtime lasts between 2 and 48 hours before a hard reset is necessary. In my case, I pared my installs down to adding merely my password safe as the only add-on, and still it crashed.
The most interesting pre-crash was going to "Programs" and noticing the number of icon substantially reduced (...and reducing...), and the remaining icons as default program icons.
After about five days of fighting with these and trying different methods of extending runtime, I reloaded an older copy vp3G's 3.0.0 from last summer and haven't had a problem for the past 72 hours. In fact, I had no lock-ups with WM6-based, previously.
I'd be interested in other people's experiences with WM6.1-based ROMs on the Hermes...

i may be wrong, but i think recall reading that flashing back to your stock rom, then flashin to 6.1 may fix some hard reset problems....
as for me, ive used 4 or 5 6.1 roms and havent experienced a hard reset.....my latest and favorite so far is faria's and dr.p's 6.1 rom, been running a week no hard reset...
im usin an at&t branded 8525
i was having a few issues with this but ended up changing radio versions from my standard 1.16 to 1.48.
havent had an issue since doing that.
i had the crash problem also, but after I not install htc cube in any of the wm6.1, everything ok and stable.
problem is with cube in wm6.1 i think.
Faria's is the best so far, but they all have problems to varying extents. Have you tried running Oxios Close apps? That will help you claim back memory and maybe help prevent the need for a hard reset. you can get it here: http://www.oxios.com/memory/

Interesting. I did notice that on some ROM flashes that boot screen retained a previous ROM's splash. That might mean that some ROMs are not including all facets (OS, Radio...Bootloader?) of the complete image. Will give that a shot now that I'm back to a stable WM6.

Radio is 1.45 with vp3G 3.0.0. Will check again after a Faria re-flash and upgrade to 1.48 if it isn't included.

I had that thought too, but my last ROM didn't include any of the HTC apps, at all, so I think it's some conflict or something lower level. The cube 'is' a resource hog, however...

The resets are always due to hard lockups, and they can be with only Activesync running as an application. I try to keep the number of running apps at a minimum for reasons that are probably fairly obvious to all here...

Im also having the same problem .. all sorts of experiments has been done to test on why WM6.1 crash when I install them .. but 1 thing i noticed that it always hang before softreset that eventually lead to hardreset .. i thought hardware accelerations problem ... so what i do is .. every WM6.1 i changed to 8mbpp .. until now my machine ok.

Flash to stock rom then to wm 6.1... Apparently there is a problem if you flash from big storage rom to wm 6.1(not sure why this is so) but there have been a huge number of people who say this works for them, myself included.... I tried every wm6.1 rom that came out then doing something stupid eflashe stock os. No problems with wm 6.1 since. Also I believe that 19209 is somewhat more stable than versions 19199 or 19202... I'm using PDAViets 19209 rom, just changed to black edition, and have had NO trouble EVER since installing it when it first came out, no soft resets and more importantly, no hard resets... Cheers

After trying almost everything to get more than a few hours of runtime out of WM6.1, I followed the above instructions to the letter and WM6.1 has worked for 24 hours now (yes...a new record). I will update in a few days if the Hermes/Faria 6.1 combo continues to function.
One note: I was not able to use Vista to update to Hard-SPL after the Stock AT&T 6.0 ROM re-flash. Each attempt resulted in an updater error on the PC after the handheld entered bootloader mode. Did the same procedure on XP and it worked flawlessly.
Hey. Had the same problems but i solved it with flashing a AT&T Stock Rom first.
Now my Hermes with PDAVIET B&C WM6.1 Rom running like a flash
Without any freezes.

Sorry, but following those instructions does NOT solve my problem. It does for some, but not all.
What works for ME, is to turn off the Storage Card power saving.

Hello. I have a G3 (Bootloader version: 1.01) Universal (Vodafone VPA IV). Until last week I was using the Tomal 8.5 standart edition ROM, and then I decided that I need something different - faster and new I upgraded to Vanilla's VNInt latest ROM and it was good until I installed some apps and then the uni started to freeze and needed a soft reset. The situation was awful and I decided to return the 8.5 Tomal ROM and everything was fine for a couple of days - no need to soft reset. Last night Win_XP advised me to flash with Mo3ulla's latest ROM and so I did. Very fast but the Uni again started to freeze and needs soft reset. Not so often as with the VNInt ROM but still it's annoying
So if anyone has an idea how to fix this problem - please share, I would be very thankful!
P.S. My english is not very good, so if you do not understand something - ask me and I will try to explain it in better way .
I had the same freezing problem with VNint's ROM as well. What I saw was it freezed for about 10-15 seconds, then it came back to life again (so without a reset). I switched to Tomal's 8.5 ROM which has this problem too, but less than VNint's ROM. I think it's a kernel problem, both ROMs use the same kernel version.
Hi all,
I've been having ROM trouble lately. I flashed 2 ROMs over the last 2 days (the latest AZTOR & the lastest Morna, both excellent, btw), but they're both just not stable. A crash always occurs, whether due to ActiveSync, Manila, or during SetUp. Usually the fix is a hard reset, but obviously, I lose my contacts. Sprite BackUp helps, but a Hard Reset every 4 hours or so is really not an option. Carburano has recommended I flash a Stock 2.03, I haven't gotten around to that yet, cuz I need a workin phone 2 transfer the .nbh. Will that solve all my issues? Anything else I can do 2 increase stability?
For the record, I have Unsigned Olinex HARDSPL, the .25 radio, and was running the 1.93 based SwiftBlade ROM prior to the issues.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

My friend, it's not a Rom stability problem... It's a known issue of all cooked roms... Please flash official 2.03 rom (if you cant from internal storage, install it in the classic way)... and then the rom you want... you will never have stability problem.
What do people recommend as the best official radio to use? Is there any benefit to installing the rilphone?
Currently I am using 1.17.25.09 with 1.15.25.14 rillphone. I have only been using the radio for two days but it seems to be giving me better battery life, I have to add though that the ROM you use also can make a big difference. I just play around and see what works best for me. I got my radio of the HTC site, its an official Diamond radio so no need to SU your phone.
same thing here ... I too use 1.17.25.09 and rilphone 1.15.25.14 for about 3 days and is quite good, battery lover, the signal is alsow good.Another good thing that I see is that in Igo 8 (ver 8.3.2.xxx) after downloading sattelites possition with quickgps i jumped to igo and start navigating, the fix was done in aprox 2 minutes (verry quick in my oppinion) but it lags allot...it could be my rom

How did you manage to install the 1.17 radio, I tried severan times and it gave me errors, my handset is HSPL already, can flash other radios, don't know why I cant install this one, currently am using 1.15.25.14, can you give me the link to the version that you are using and also the procedure to install, thanks a lot!
