ROM cannot install, says wrong model for update utility.. can anybody fix this so we could all enjoy the latest ROM release??

Have you tried downgrading device's bootloader with bootloader only flasher prior the attepmting to upgrade to new rom? It worked for DASH owners before. I believe that SPL bootloader only firmware file is uploaded to local ftp.

Hey jsp_m, nice changelog for that rom

ROM is Very smooth, I Installed Tornado Power Control, Agile Beta, Sk tools, Skype, IM+, Oxios Alarms, Smart Tweaker, and Total commander.. No problems Running programs or initiating calls.. In call volume is louder, Speaker phone volume is louder, Phone doesn't hang anymore.. Thats all for now.. Still no t9 or holding down a button for secondary character. thats all i really wanted.. Everything else is cool..

I wouldn't mind upgrading to this ROM but my fear is I won't be able to get back to the original T-Mobile ROM since it hasn't been released yet.
As soon as that happens I'll be sure to start testing.

I flashed RUU_Excalibur_SPL-1.11_UpgradeOnly.exe and succeded with the upgrade.. weird, I tought I allready had this bootloader..
(if relevant - device is indeed a late HTC prototype)

oh, and for those who want to change language to English:
Start->Einstellungen->7->5
Ps. this is a very good ROM!!

Thanks for the heads up. I concur, this appears to be an excellent build. But I am only in day one. I'll let you know in few days if any bugs appear

I had to change the registry for a US keyboard layout and the only character that doesn't map correctly is the @ and ? symbol..

without cid unlock - just flash first the mentioned SPL
Ps. It seems to perfectly resemble my keyboard, ? and @ are on the right places.. it's just that Z and Y are replaced, and now it's just like on my computer, but opposite of my keyboard I've been getting used to the last month ;D
very stabile and good ROM, no more of those problems the screen won't come on after standby and homescreen wallpaper has a visible HTC logo (aligned)..fast and furious DDD

does anyone know how to fix this roaming triangle on the dash adn it no longer shopws tmobile as the carrier now it says cingular when i know for a fact that i have t mobile service?

How to save in call volume level?

Everytime I get an incoming call, I always need to use the job wheel and turn the in call volume up to the highest level (its currently one below that on every incoming call).. how do I get the phone to save the volume setting to always be on the highest level?

Try a program called "phone alarm". The in-call volume level is one of its profile configuration options. It works pretty well.

Exactly. I don't need any profile app, because I use just Sound On/Off. Why should I waste memory? In addition, I do reboot 2-3 x a week, so it is not a huge problem. Altough some elegant solution would be welcome.

Same problem. All versions of WM6 seem to have this problem. Looking for solution too.

Hopefully its fixed in the final version... or, someone finds a solution..

I'd suggest (and I don't have to do it this weekend as doing my loft and have a new phone to sort out too) that someone does a full Reg dump from standard install and then same after that software (which I've never used) is installed and the settings sorted and phone rebooted - and then uses windiff or simlar to find out what's changed.
It should be fairly easy to isolate the reg setting that does the trick, if it is actually a reg setting that we're after.
It could be a reg setting that resets itself after a boot (like the landscapeoffonratation setting) or it might not. If it's not, we're in business. If it is it'll be a bit more complex but still probably still doable.
If someone can isolate that reg setting it's an easy business to either cook it into a rom as it'll just need a rgu file, or to put it into a cab.

Didn't try any other value for myself, just a hint

tf3d won't start on soft reset

I have a weird issue with my TP2.
When i reset it... it boots up and i can see the HTC logo but tf3d won't start.. i went into settings unchecked tf3d and reticked it.. no difference!
How is the executable called? anyone elese experiencing this issue?

1. Switch on Flightmode. (use the red phone button press for more than 3 seconds)
2 Reset/Restart
3. Switch off flightmode. The PIN screen comes up automatically.
Works in 100% of the cases.

You can run the manila.exe found in the Windows folder but I've found that when doing this, the clock on the home tab doesn't refresh/change and the notification balloons don't come up (the little round icon on the sms tab when you have unread sms's for example)

I could not find that thread describing it.. i wonder why HTC did not release any hotfix for this.

I have the same issue, Touchflo3d not starting after boot on my swedish Touch Pro2.
If i try to manually start manila.exe i also get the clock freeze on the start screen and no mail/message notifications.
I've tried two hard resets, and adding programs and settings one at a time just to try to find the reason for this, but no luck. It feels like it's all random, it all works with apps installed, and suddenly it stops working, no changes made.
I notice that when i manually execute \windows\manila.exe the screen goes from the black screen with the HTC logo directly to the start screen of touchflo3d. When everything works the way it should do, there is a difference, a text appears on the black screen under the HTC logo, something like "starting Touchflo3D".
I'm not that good at windows mobile myself, but i hope someone on this forum, that has a phone with touchflo3d, can find the difference between starting the manila.exe manually, not seeing the "starting Touchflo"-test, compared to the automatic start with that text.
I hope that would lead to a solution or fix, i would not mind very much having to start touchflo myself with a click, but i'd like to start it the same way it does when working so the clock and notifications work as it should.
Let's all hope some of the many extremly skilled members here picks up the glove and takes a good look at this!!

Thanx it worked for me!
But now TF3D will come in front when I make a call. So after 5 seconds calling the first screen of TF3D (the clock) will appear. Then I have to press the first button (phone) to get the phone screen again. Verry sad.
I also can not use the program Notes anymore when calling, the program will go to the back. And TF3D will come to the front!
Someone know the answer?

i had the same problem and tried many solutions until i found what was the cause for that problem: S2U2. Once i disabled the S2U2-autostart on boot up, tf3d is always starting the way its supposed to. I simply removed the ilock2-shortcut from windows/autostart and start it manually after tf3d has launched. Not really perfect, but better than everything else for me.
Do you use S2U2?

I did the same, disabled s2u2, and no more problems. After a while however the hanging came back randomly.
S2u2 is back now. Mothers little helper! I can live with the flightmode on and off solution.

Try to set a longer "Boot-up Delay" (S2U2 Settings->Advanced).

Nope, 20 secs does not do the job in my case.
Tried several combinations and different ways of startup, but no deal.
I already had the problem without S2U2 so I cannot possibly blame them.
I still am stuck at the flightmode trick which gives a 100% success.

I have the same issue. The first time this behavior surfaced for me was right after i´d applied Zagg´s inivisible shield.
I must admit that i lacked the patience to be leaving the phone for 12 hours drying up.
I´d put it in a dry, warm & well ventilated place for approximately 4 hours and thought that should suffice.
When the phone started acting up i used up all the non-printable 4 letter words i knew and did a hard reset.
Anyway - the problem has showed up about every third time i do a soft reset.
To me the solution has so far been another soft-reset.

Have the same problem, it's driving me nuts. Hate reseting the phone - it takes ages to boot up.
Won't spend time trying to fix this, will just not reboot/reset often. Hopefully the WM6.5/TF3D official package sometime in October will cure this.

I combine the flightmode trick together with the SlidetoShutdown, where I use the restart slider.
Doing it this way makes it more acceptable.

It is quite random.
The flight-on/restart/flight-off always works, at least in my tp2.

so i've tried checking on/off Today/Item/TF3D, tried Flight Mode, and it still won't work. i'm talking like only 30-50% of the time it does work. and I never had PIN1 enabled!
i'm no programmer but it is conflicting with apps we install because TF3D works perfectly when the phone was fresh or hard-resetted. btw i'm using 6.1 Stock T-mobile

one day my BA stopped working. the only way to get out of that 2003 start screen was to upgrade it to wm 5.x later to 6.5
my problem is:
I have NO SOUND at all.
the camera fails to initialize.
the strange thing is: after upgrading the sound twice worked for a little while BUT stops working after using the wmp. and could not get back by reset, hardreset, reinstalling rom or whatever.
it seems that it is a hardware related software-problem?! a reg thing? a driver prob?
believe me: I searched and read a lot but didnt find any working solution! I tried the original wm 2003 rom. no effect.
I tried any audio-fix I could find, edited the reg (maybe not good enough...). nothing works. no effect.
audioprogs refuse to start like htc audiomanager (rc fail) or misses audioengine at tcpmp media player (no wave output). I guess the audioengine hangs at some point. also youtube refuses to work when sound doesnt worrk but runs good when sound is there
maybe it has to with storage. I could not get my storage back although I followed the wikis. (maybe I am just too confused after all the up/downgrades I already did... but as far as I remember the tools for that do not work for me)
also camera. nothing works. still fails to initialize.
any ideas?

The wierdest thing happened.
Have to say that none of the suggestions or ideas (though welcome) helped. I reflashed the WM6.1 after flashing latest radio rom. Still no sound and camera.
Last night I had kept the battery out for a few hours and then on replacing it had to do reset - hey presto after all this time the sound worked and so does the camera.???? I have absolutely no idea what I did to fix it - almost as if it needed resetting a few times - cant think what else I have done.
Anyway I am happy bunny now - it all seems to be working perfectly

I started to feel stupid because I never checked to leave the battery out for a while. so I did it and surprisingly my sound came back. but soon it dissappeared again. sometimes it comes back when I restart again and again and/or wait a little while with battery out. but camera stills fails and as long as it is a random thing if sound comes back or not it not a real solution...

DHD Problems !!

Hi all !!
I have a few minor problems with my DHD, the solution for which i'm looking... i'd love it if anyone could help me out. The problems :
1. Earlier when i used to dial any number on the keypad, there used to be a beep sound every time i pressed a number... now this sound does not come... i've tried all the sound settings, changed the skin to stock, and even restarted the phone quite some times, but the sound wont come back... how to get that sound back ?
2. Screen Lock Sound - Earlier, this sound used to be loud enough for me to listen to. Now, this sound does come, but it is very very low in volume... As mentioned before, i've ensured that all the volumes are at their fullest levels, but still no improvement...
3. Whenever i use WiFi, the speed of the phone becomes very slow. Whenever i exit a game after playing it, the phone takes a lot of time to recover to its full speed... what might be the cause of all this ? The Running services always shows around (80 MB in 4) on the left side and (250+200 MB in 40) on the right side..
Please let me know the answers to all these questions as they are quite nagging, especially the 3rd one...
PS : I'm still on Android 2.2... dont have the OTA 2.3 update in India yet !

I haven't encountered the first two of your problems and the only thing I could think of would be that you have become deaf. (kidding)
I had the third problem for a while... I think it was to do with certain apps that can drain the processing speed of the phone. I had to delete and reinstall a few apps to find out what it was... might be worth a try.

Download sound manager from market. Not all volumes are accessible with out this app. I had the same problem. Another app you may have installed has altered the keypad and lock sound volumes. Sound manager will allow you to put this right.
