How to navigate to non-mobile sites? - HTC Excalibur

Anyone have a way to get to the regular versions of sites? There is no links to get to the regular version of the sites I am talking about, and they always boot me to the crappy mobile version of the site.
Im using Opera Mini.
It may have to do with the WAP settings im thinking... but i am not sure if they can even be changed.
Anyone know of some kind of work around?

The only setting in there I see is "Mobile View" and I have it turned off.
I am pretty sure it has to do with the site it self seeing you are connecting through a WAP and forwarding you to their mobile version of the site automatically. I could be wrong tho, I dont know too much about it.

Don´t think so, is more related to the browser I think
Have you tried to type in Opera
Opera:config
Because in there you can change a lot of parameters including the one to surf the sites as normal computer
If not working I´m sure my dear friend Stylez should have another solution
Cheers,

use skyfire

I use skyfire and I see sites how they are on the desktop. Maybe you should change your settings to Connects to the Internet?

How do i trick the internet nto thinking my hermes is a normal crappy phone?

Basically im going to the carling reading festival on thursday, nd nokia offer a wap sevice which gives you all the stage info, timetables maps and such via a link they send to you. When i first signed up, i put my phone as other, and it wasnt recognised. Then i signed up as another user (as the site didnt seem to have an option to change your details) and i put my phone as K800i which is my other phone. The thing is, they sent the link ok, but when i click on it in either opera or IE it says your phone isnt compatible. Which is id say outrageous, as its wap and i ahve proper internet..
So i was wondering if there is a hack or reg tweak or program which will tirck the site into thinking im on a phone thats supported.
And by the way i ahve tried changing my opera settings to handheld device, btu it seems tht meand windows device rather then phone lo
thanks in advance

I did that on mine and there are still a few sites that pick up that it's a mobile phone and show me their mobile version of their website, specifically myspace. I hate the mobile version.
I remember seeing a post once where there were registry settings you can change to make the browser emulate a desktop, but I can't seem to find it in the search function for the forums.
Anyone else remember or know how?

Is there a fix for HTC home Weather plugin with T-mobile tzones internet?

Did anyone manage to get this weather plugin to work with Tmobile tzones ($5.99) internet? I tried to search for this issue but couldn't find a clear answer.
I works fine via ActiveSync or Wireless internet - but no go for t-zones proxied connection.
If I understood correctly, you would like to load the weather data over T-mobile. Correctly?
If, functions perfectly. Only select city and completely.
Or did you want another program, in place of the HTC weather Plugin?
Describe nevertheless please times which as much money costs there.
I am not safe me whether I you correctly understood.

I think you need to learn the English language a little better, before you try to help others... hehe I have no idea what you're talking about!
There's a fix for it. Someone created a server for the HTC plugin to get its data from and it works through TMobile (tzones or not). Read the HTC Home plugin threads around here and I'm sure you'll find a cab...
I tried the patched version on t-mobileweb and still couldn't get it to work..
I use spb mobile shell. It works.

As far as I know - SPB uses it's own weather plugin. I'd like to use HTC home weather.

Yes, that what's happening to me. There is a thread for HTC Home weather fix, but it looks like the author is rarely responding to peoples questions. Yes, he created a modified cab file that uses one of his servers to re-route the data, but somehow it's not working. I believe it's because of t-mobile tzone internet is using proxied access. On the regular internet access (thru WIfI or wireless lan or activesync) the plugin works great.
Is there a lucky person who managed to get this plugin to work on T-mobile USA tzones internet?
juzzie: the 6tab cab worked for me on this t-mobile plan:$29.99/month, Unlimited w/o VPN, internet2.voicestream.com. And U'r right, it looks like the owner of that thread has left the building!

Yep, I know. It's working on T-mobile data plans. But I'm using tzones which is a proxied connection.
To tell you honestly - I gave up. I tried Fizz weather and it works like a charm. It offers far better weather related services and takes only a thin bar on the home screen. You just have to configure it properly: I'm using 2 days forecast including current weather.
Been Trying!
I been trying for a long time now everyday to find the answer to Tmobile USA not being able to use the htc plugin weather program. I myself have full access internet 29.99. sometime it will load it, some times it wont. Maybe its where your at? check the tmobile site www.tmobile.com to see how is your signal. If everyone can come up with a test simple it would be faster to figure it out. Developers neeed help and imput. good luck
yeah, the modified cabs of the HTC weather plugin will only work on a non-proxied connection. I'm having the same trouble, and have tried everything out there.
N2A (creator of the modified HTC weather server) goes thru port 80 which is blocked on $5.99 T-zones, so thats where we suffer.
As far as SPB mobile shell goes, does it integrate with HTC Home tabs? or is it something on its own? any screen captures available?
Well maybe you can ask the guy nicely to make another dll for you that will connect to his server using a different port !

lol, I guess I could do that.
I would also recommend WeatherPanel with the "son of commuter 240" theme. It's just an awesome combination...
Maybe, just maybe this could help
Hi, I recently changed a HTC Touch (T-mobile GER) around completely to get rid of the (for me) unwanted carrier specifics of the original Rom. I Backuped the Ext Rom in which I came across the attached cab (I frankly don't have any idea what it does - all other contents were merely hompage setting or spftkey changer app...)
Since Tmob found it useful to play with the weather, maybe someone could see what's inside. Maybe it could solve the problem.
Cheers, Chris

Yes...hated it. It seemed slow and difficult to operate - not terribly intuitive. I believe it is also dependent on some sort of intermediary server rendering the pages into a format that the application can handle - that tends to suggest that the more demand there is on that server, the slower the response.
I didn't last much more than an hour with it so i wouldn't claim to be an expert, but there was nothing that got me hooked and plenty I didn't like.
Was a great idea, but has been exceeded by Opera mini 4, which does all the same and more.

Ultrasurf, Freegate ... on WM

Hi,
I've been looking for a while now ... still nothing like Ultrasurf or Freegate for Windows Mobile.
I'm in China right now, nice Touch HD but no way to connect to these fancy youtube and facebook applications because as you may know, these sites are blocked in China.
On my PC no problem, Ultrasurf or Freegate do the job, what about PPc ?
Any ideas ?
Thanks
Maybe http://www.toonel.net/?
Same problem. On desktop I use TOR and Gladder plugin with Firefox. Both work well but choke on some of the 3rd party download sites. We really need similar for mobile even a simple proxy host. I'll take a look at that Toonel mentioned in the other reply and let you know. I have been seeking some solution for a long time. If you find another solution can you let me know? I am currently in Henan.
+1 here
I've been looking for the same thing for a long time..
I have once tried to use the HotSpot Shield iPhone solution, but it didn't seem to work with WM, besides it's also blocked now
any success guys ?
me to. I am in hubei. I know a browser called bolt can play youtube. But it plays it in a extremely low quality. I hope to find a way to set the system link to some proxy or VPN. I have tried many ways like 'ppcproxy','proxycap','hosts','toonel','openVPN ppc','gp_vpn-mobile',eh, it seems that's all. hehe ,crazy? But what a tragedy! I DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE THEM!!!! I can't get a full teaching on net. So, if it's convenient, I hope you can try them. And tell me how to use them. my email: [email protected]
I hate blocking blocking blocking!
+1 here.
isnt there any proxy client for wm ?
ASProxy
Ultrasurf can find at http://www.ultrareach.com/
freegate wm

Opera 10 Beta

Anyone installed this and got passed the disclaimer? It installed fine, but after scrolling down the disclaimer and trying to press the accept button it does not go down far enough. Any ideas?

I couldn't get passed that point, either. I would guess the Opera developers are concentrating on touch screens now and don't do much testing on standard devices anymore.
After trying for about 10 minutes to get passed that point, I gave up and deleted the program.
same problem here..
beta version..
bugs..
uninstall..
i dont have the link since im on my phone but one of the developers confirmed that windows mobile standard isnt compatible with the new beta. i would doubt if they ever do.
All Opera Mobile versions: Official thread
Here you´ll find all you need regarding Opera:

same issue here with the tmobile dash, can't click accept of disclaimer either. that thread is 50 pages long and doesn't say anything explicitly about Dash or Excalibur maybe its b/c of QVGA or something

Maybe they should say that on their download page because they indicate that it IS compatible. It just reinforces my negative opinion of Opera on all platforms.
im using it on my Dash, the only problem is that you need to download FakeCursor so you can accept. After that you made need to use FakeCursor again to goto settings and such, but other than that it works great!

If you have a closer look you´ll find several QVGA versions.
Also there are the newest Opera Mini versions, which I find fit better on Excalibur
Tried...it failed....could not click the accept button.....even retried

To me it just isn't worth the trouble to go through just to get it to work. Opera is a has-been by now. Firefox Mobile will be coming out in a bit, and right now UCWEB6 works great, as well as Skyfire. So there just isn't a need for Opera anymore.
