My i780 followed the steps to upgrade to V5 ROM, hereunder are the PDA/phone version on my i780 now,
PDA: i780PXIHH5
Phone: i780DXHH1
Now, Samsung latest factory ROM has been released to PDXHL2, but I can't upgrade to this version because I can't pass the version check. If I want to flash PDXHL2 from Samsung, I have to find a way to flash the PDA versio to DXHH1 first. But, I didn't backup it and I can't find it on internet. So, if I can "cheat" the Samsung flash tool, maybe it's the fast way to upgrade to formal release version. Is it Possible?
Is there any easy can help me to upgrade to the latest factory ROM? Thanks.

you can try by flashing the "mirage PDXHH1" (obviously with xp running and after the installation of activesync and samsung drivers); after the hard reset you can install the HH5 rom.

I have the latest T-Mobile ROM but I would like to upgrade the OS to the latest Qtek version.
If I download this ROM and seperate the nbf files - Can I upgrade just the OS (ie not the Radio or Extended ROM) using my current boot loader (Version 1.01) without problems????
I get a device locked at bootup and then hard reset with this rom. Any way around it?

if you did using that rom i suggest you download another rom without the the GR1 or 2. like this one UNI_QTEK_13077_176_10900_WWE_Ship. and do the upgrade it will be fine. Have fun upgrading.

I need to roll back my rom version. I have an mda and I want to flash it to the cingular settings from the HTC website. The problem is that I have the latest version of Tmobile's ROM software, and it's higher than the Cingular version. How can I roll it back to the older version?

you can try to update your rom
to a rom from Cingular
the only way is to go to their site and download the rom and flash it
there is no backup of the org rom when ppl flash it with another
unless they made the backup themselfs
ROM for Cingular will not work...
Because I have the latest ROM update from Tmobile in the device...and the ROM from Cingular is an "earlier" version (2.6xxx vs. 2.5xxx)
Any ideas in deleting the ROM and installing the Cingular ROM?

You can use "BVHF1" as the SGH-i780 Version. It also has a link for the samsung drivers for windows vista. Down below there is a button "View In Detail" beside [ Upgrade Instructions ], if you try to look at the screenshots, it says SHG-i780 6.1 OS Updater on the title bar.
According to some forums and reputable websites it is the official 6.1 upgrade for the i780 but the problem is it is only for Italy, Nordic and UK. I'm wondering if it is compatible with the asian versions of the i780. Is there a difference with the physical keyboard?
I guess it's not that important anymore since Windows Mobile 6.5 will be released sometime Q3/Q4 of this year. There are phones already manufactured for WM6.5 and pictures are already out in the internet. I'm not sure if it's legit but looks like they are. At least there's an official WM6.1 update for i780.

It is possible to flash Orange Rom
You have to Hex edit official rom with the country/operator specific code of your current rom. That way, when you are flashing Orange rom it will think that you have the future version of you current rom and it will not complaint.
Search forum. You may use Hxd (use this as a keyword for search) editor or another hex editor.
I used Orange rom for a while. It has improved battery life over V5X HH5 (EFN Rom) however no messenger and other preloaded goodies of v5x hh5.
BTW there is a newer (official) version than the orange rom. Just peek at newer threads.

I bought mine unlocked off of expansys, and therefore the stupid update download tells me it's the wrong version. If I flash it with the Orange rom, will I have problems with sim locking or anything? I hope the installer doesn't have the same restrictions.

You may flash with the Orange rom or never HL1 or HL2 rom. Updater is available here on forum for these roms. Like I said before you will need to hex edit rom files to be able to flash. Or, as an alternative, you may flash one of the "modded" versions of those roms (bin files) with mirage updater (mirage does not check any code), then update with the original updater because updater will think that you are upgrading from the same operatoır/country code.
BTW you wont have any problems with sim or device lock. Mine was a generic unbranded WWE rom and updated/tried all these roms and did now have any lock problems.

My OS is in Danish so i tried the link and chose Nordic, then it wants me to put in the phone model, so i do that and then it takes me to the official samsung page (samsungmobile.com) where the only thing i can download is the manual and activesync for windows 2k/xp.

Hi,
First you should replace the pda part with a previous DX rom file, then the official upgrade will do its work. You can find one for example here:http://www.mediafire.com/xanadu

hi dinko,
you can start the changing by installing a full rom called "mirage PDXHH1" (wm 6.0); it's a 128 dpi, english naturally, and it isn't really very recent.
after then you can decide to install an official upgrade (wm 6.1) by using the link of samsung at http://www.samsungmobile.com/support/i780/index.jsp or by a cooked rom. in this second way you must have XP and you need:
1. the mirage software http://rapidshare.com/files/110283700/Mirage_LV_v1.8.rar
2. driver samsung http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.c...26233621765_MCCI_WHQL_Modem_Driver_4.38.5.exe
3. install activesync

PDXHL2.If you search on this forum you'll find the official updater, to use it just flash your pda part with a hl2 based rom via mirage and than run the official updater.
i already have PDA ROM PDXHL2 but when I try to update with official updater it says incorrect version. Btw, my PHONE ROM is DXHH1.
Any idea?

if you have a dxhh1 and you want to install a pda part L2 (?) you have to flash with "mirage" only . open this sw, click on "pda" button and choose the rom you have to install.
