It's easy to do it yourself:
unsign shellres.192.DLL
edit the DLL with reshacker or PE explorer
START icon is no. 292 inside the DLL
go to icon 292 and replace it with your desired icon
re-sign the DLL
copy it to your /windows/ folder

Is this meant for a specific WM version?
I installed it, and while the bouncing wait icon works just fine (and looks very nice ) the rest of the icons don't work
The start menu icon is missing, as are most of the other statusbar icons (battery, network... only bluetooth icon is visible)
Also other icons seems to be messed up; settings option in the start menu suddenly has the sim-card-toolkit icon...
After uninstalling all is back to normal.
My OS version is 5.2.19608 (Build 19608.1.2.60)
(Vodafone UK R2AA007 version)

As with any mod touching system files, You need to install SDKcerts first

It's impossible to change it because that's the way Microsoft made it
Maybe you have forgotten your stock one: take a look at the "standard" spinning windows wait cursor and you will notice it has the same white square surrounding the spinning circular windows flag...

Another n00bish question here, is the border on the square mandatory? I'm asking because PNG files support transparent background and perhaps we could use png's for the animation instead... I'm just brainstorming here.

The wait anime is a sequence of BMPs, not PNGs
You can contact akp99 or angelusz, they have been testing for transparency

Good idea Customizing the TaskBar is still on my to-do list ! I tried it once with the .cab posted above but that didn't work well with Opera so I uninstalled. Curious to see what other .cabs will be posted here...

We need separate cabs for coloring the Volume bar (green and blue) and also cabs for the icons in the bottom bar (home, contacts, etc).
I would also suggest that we don't upload complete themes, but rather stand alone cabs so that everyone can modify their HD as they wish.

If this is possible it would be great. Is the volume control overlay in the same .dll as the volume icon, however? I thought this might be the case, but am not sure.
Also, I would be eternally grateful if someone could get the start icon in post #1 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460309 working. I have tried my best, but just can't get it to look right.

You are absolutely correct. However, when I started using the nickname I misspelled it and haven't bothered to change it ever since.
This seems like a good place to ask this: is there a way to display the battery indicator AND the clock on the taskbar at the same time? I want both icons on there, but ít seems that that is mutually exclusive

You can use Wisbar Advance (google), that is the only way I know of...

Hadn't come across this 'tutorial' yet It worked like a charm and appearantly so far without any side-effects (only too bad it changed the Start-logo aswell...but you can't win 'em all) ! Thanks for pointing it out to me

Not EXACTLY what you asked for... But you could monitor the battery status by using one of the cabs in <this thread>. That way you CAN see both the clock and battery status at the same time

Volume control colour not changed
Hey guys i installed the cab to get the taskbar icons and it worked but i couldn't get the volume bars to change to green as shown in the screenshot has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks sk806 and ^Rook. The Winbar thing goes too far for me...way too much stuff I don't want or need. As for the battery-line, ^rook, you're right, it's not exactly what I was looking for, but it might even be better Thanks for that, I'll definitely give it a try now

What you could try is one of the battery bars (long bar right at the top of the screen about 2 pixel height) and just use the clock icon ?
WkTask is free and excellent. It includes a top bar for battery.

having problems with this one. doesn't work with singh's 15 tabs and it doesn't skin the stocks or settings tab
the status icons work great though as does the transparent clock.

I've installed an earlier series of your icons (from V1.50, I think) on my Polaris (P3650)
Only QVGA, so not as pretty, but they work fine and present much better than the bog-standard ones in most ROM's. They consume very little Storage, of course

The whole set was re-compiled to avoid conflicts but I am glad to hear they also work in the Polaris

You need PE Explorer to edit shellres
But it is basicaly the same (R1, R2...8 and R2...10) at least regarding icons and dialogs

It opens the file and makes it easily editable.
But when sending back to the phone it messes up the icon order and it's not working.
When skimming through the dll there seem to be some icons that do not work ..
any idea how/why this is possible?

2- Do you have your registry tweaked to re-route batt & signal icons to phcanOverbmp.DLL ??
3- Is you phcanOverbmp.DLL stock or has modded icons inside ??
(phcanOverbmp.DLL icons will override shellres.192.DLL signal/battery icons and other)
4- Have you installed any program which adds HTCvolumecontrol.DLL ??

Yes the start icon is different, but after many many hours of frustrating trial and error tests I can give you a hint:
Better make it 41x36 or it won't look OK
As an example, here I let you my own START logo for the upcoming "X" series "standard" version (non-SE) - It MUST be 41x36 to display properly

I really like your X Series. I'd suggest that you make a SE and Standart version like the one you made in Beta 3. I love this blue / silver windows logo.
If you consider making more versions with "more detailed & colourful icons" ... I really like the combination of blue and silver. Blue battery and earth from Beta3 were great .

I like indeed the blue windows logo :>. You could go with a SE logo version and I take the windows one .
It's just the question if gtrab wants to make several diffrent cabs with just one new icon (start logo). Alternatively we could replace the icon ourselves if gtrab publishes them and tells us what to do . They are not in the current ICO package, aren't they?

Pretty simple, just remove VistaHide and soft reset.
Tried the icons, the animation is great, the icons look good, maybe smaller than I thought.
What I would like:

2. Red battery when low.
3. Move the signal bars up not to overlap the icon border. Or if you can't do that, cut the border where the signal bars will be displayed. It will look nicer.
4. Bigger battery icon without the numbers.

There´s nothing I can do about the signal bars being out of frame cause those bars are generated, not replaceable icons as the other ones

SO it might be better to this icon differently without the boarder? or just make a change to the icon and remove the bottom bar

Install
1. Ok first, if you do not already have it installed, install No Curtains, you don't have to but I recomend it.
2. Install the Touch X startmenu transparent BG, this will make the startmenu fully transparent (looks realy good with this theme)
3. Install the Theme cab
4. If you like to use the HQ Wallpaper install the HQ cab
5. Set the Dark Woman Pic as Wallpaper for both Home and lockscreen
(6. May need to softreset)

tried this, the clock works now but i'm still getting the standard black icons for notifications. Where should you put the png's? in the windows folder?

what do you mean by "more color" this is supposed to be a black and white theme.
if you have an idea for a colorfull theme show me a wallpaper i could use.

you shouldn't do anything with the png's exept create manila files off theme
you have to copy the manila files of the notification icons into the windows folder. (you can't use the normal explorer for that, use Totalcomander)
if it still doesn't work, try my other notification theme link in my signature

Meant changing BLUE to GREEN ( clock, tab icons, noti icons..etc )
Great theme, but having two problems. The top bar hasn't changed (not transparent) and the bottom windows bar (Phone/Menu bar) hasn't changed either. Anyone else seeing problem with those or have any ideas why it's not working for me?

1. Have you softreset after installing the theme cab?
if you didn't do so else or if the problem remains
2. check with total comander what's the value of:

Checked the registry values and they were the default ROM values. I checked my windows folder I do not have HDWall_taskbar.png nor HDWall_softkeybar.png. Which cab is suppose to install those? Any way you could provide me with the two .png files and I'll just manually set them? Oddly enough, lockscreen and startmenu look like they should (except the background is not HQ like the background in manila...not sure if that's normal).

I was getting tired of the unsharp search button in the taskbar, so i wanted to fix this. However, I ended up creating a complete framework in Gingerbread style. I also added 'Fly In and Flip Mix' animations.
Version 1.1:
Fixed blurry graphics.
Reverted back to original Archos app background.
Made fully compatible with A101.
Version 1.0:
Initial release.
How to install:
The easiest way to install is to overwrite the framework-res.apk located in /system/framework/ with Root Explorer.

Really nice switch effects with these effects the hole android surface looks smoother
The only thing i have to say is:
The "show-list"-buttons (round) have bad graphics... (f.e. in settings)

But I've a few suggestions for a perfect version:
- please remove the effect when apps are opening (the two black "areas" that go into the middle, you know what I mean?!), the rest of the effects is great!
- I think, the pulled down notification bar/area should be like in froyo (white/grey), the upper bar is now really cool!
- change the selection color to green
edit: I just noticed, that the bluetooth icon in the status bar is very tiny and "pixelated". Maybe you could take the Bluetooth icon from the old framework.

- I will look if I can fix this but I'm not sure. For the animations I took a pre-made package, not made by myself.
- Honestly, I don't really like the Froyo style notifications bar. That's why I used a dark one.
- A green version is coming, but I want to get this one perfect first
- I will look for a fix for the Bluetooth icon. But on the A70 it looks OK, just a little bit pixelated because of of the low screen resolution.
I updated to v1.1 on my A101, just awesome!
Just the download notification is also tiny and pixeled and i cant change my wallpaper..

I've created an own Bluetooth Symbol, and put it in the framework-res file. Maybe you can use this symbol for the next versions, too.
The issue with the wallpaper is normal, try to change the wallpaper once more, then it works normally.
So, here's my framework-res.apk in a zip folder: Klick!
I tried to make a first green version, and it works! Sorry Hondaracer, but I couldn't wait, so I renamed the framework-res.apk to .zip and edited the pictures.
But there are a few issues, like you can see in the screenshots, for example that the buttons become shorter when you touch them. And not all the buttons are green, but the most of them.
I can help you, Hondaracer, so we can make a perfect version.
Issues we have to change:
- Buttons in the green Framework shouldn't change the size when you tap them
- ALL the buttons should be green
- The effect I said in my other post
- the white status area when you pull down the status bar (in an additional version)

I was wonderin if I can change the theme of my A70S, then I found this ... I would like to try it, but there is 2 things I would like to know:
1.- Can I habe some instructions on how to install it ... (I´m still newbie in most of my archos A70S aspects)
2.- After installation can I move between themes or it overwrites the original theme (just in case I would like to return to the original one)

Nope you cant, if you want the original theme you have to do like above with the normal framework apk
