Hi there
This is my first post.
So... to the story:
I've been searching on Google for the past few days for a clean WM6 ROM for my Loox n520 and couldn't find any. I've only found a modded rom with the original Windows Live and other apps removed.
Why am I asking for a clean rom?
Because I want to sell my PDA with a clean OS installed. Then the user will install any apps.
Thank you to those who help!

Presumably you have a N520 with WM5 (the original supplied operating system)? If so, why don't you just do a hard reset which takes the device back to a "clean" machine or factory state with no user data or applications installed? Then a new user can choose whether to upgrade to WM6 etc....
The same comment applies if you have upgraded already to a new WM6 ROM. Just do a hard reset! (The original FSC manual should tell you how to do it, and it IS different to a soft reset.)

Hi
Im very new so i appologise for this, is the extended rom where the default apps reinstall after a flash?, ie the o2 active interface and the album for the cam etc?.
I recently went through flashing my xda2s to wm5, and when i went back down to PPC2003 i lost a lot of stuff and would like the facility of the auto-installs back.
I have updated the latest rom from the 02 site, but this doesnt do it.
Any ideas?.
Cheers
Julian
Look at WIKI there is a thread about downgrading, if you have used once WM5 and want to downgrade to 2003 you should repartition your device to use extended rom
Hi,
I'm using the official Dopod WM6 ROM on SuperCID Hermes300. I've unlocked and unhided my Extended ROM manualy according to the wiki. My extended ROM is accessable, but every time I install a program and softreset my device the extended ROM gets corrupted and al or some files on it disappear! Even the pre-installed dopod cabs. One time softreseting even bricked my device and I had to reflash it.
I've found out that this due to the fact that the driver in wm6 doesn't correct bad sectors in the extended ROM.
Does anybody know a solution for this problem?
Files in the ExtROM must be read-only! If aren't make them!
cheers,
dan
I have wince 2003 a05 installed in my x50v. I can't see any BIS, although it say s 128M ROM in the system information. Someone said this can be solved by changing the language. But I can't find any wince 2003 ROM (nb0 files) available online. Can anyone tell me how to solve my problem and upload required ROMs? Thanks!

you HAVE seen this thread, have you not ??

why bother with 2003 ( not even 2003SE ) - when you can have WM6 ??

If you don't like it ... all I can find is 2003SE here:

Thanks! Nice website, man!
To be honest, I have tried two ways two upgrade my x50v from 2k3 A05 to WM5 which is a pre-requirement for WM60:
1) use Dell's upgrade program (failed at the last step, formatting rom 30%)
2) use SD image loader with WM50 A01 Eng ROM files (failed at "erasing storage 30%)
I was just wondering if there is any hardware problem of my ROM. Maybe that's why I can't see the ROM in 2k3 A05 system.
I also tried using language change (Japanese <-> English). But it didn't work. I still can't see ROM in my system.
I even tried writing WM60 ROM directly, but also failed at "erasing storage".
Is there any software that can diagnose the ROM?
Thanks again!
who knows from all the playing around you have done that you "muddy" up your device and causes conflicts ...etc ???
I would suggest:
hard reset your device ---That should revert it back to factory settings.
and now you can start FRESH upgrade/downgrade ...etc !!!
If you decided to experiment with the link I gave ...

make sure you read throughly the "required" part of the post before proceeding !!!

Attention!
If you have Windows Mobile 2003SE ROM on your device, FIRST, please download THIS ARCHIVE (RAR 32.4 MB) (Mirror),
/ and update your PDA to A01 Windows Mobile 5 ROM.
/ After that, go to Dell site, download official WM5 A02 ROM and update your PDA to WM5 A02 ROM.""
It's a used x50v. I got it a couple weeks ago.
As I mentioned, I can't upgrade to WM5. Leave WM6 alone. Thank you though.
hi, sorry if this topic has been posted before. and sorry for my ignorance on this topic.
i have an orbit that came with wm5 which i later flashed to the official wm6 via o2 upgrade website.
the only problem i have is that the new rom is taking up too much programme memory and has made the phone terribly slow.
i'd like to get it flashed with a rom that doesnt take up too much memory but the problem is that i cant find a step by step guide of how i should do this.
what is the most stable rom available for the orbit and where can i find it from?
if i get my phone flashed via a 3rd party rom will it remove the microsoft office mobile apps from the phone? (i really need these for my uni studies)
thanks in advance.
alrite mate,
what you need to do is make sure you run USPL first! otherwise u may BRICK your phone.
What I found the best rom to be is artemis touch 4.01. Try searching for it nad follow instructions in there. If i remmeber correctly the UPSL program is included in the update that you download.
good luck and enjoy the wonderful benefits of installing a custom rom!
'Artemis Touch 4.01" comes in several versions - Full, Lite, Vanilla, with and without cube etc. 'Artemis Touch 4.01 WM6.1 WWE ROM - Lite without cube' has an incredible amount of memory left over for running programs. A couple days of running it now and I have no problem keeping about 19-20M free. USPL is included with both ROMs mentioned here.
No matter which version you choose it will wipe clean everything on your phone. Nothing from before will remain. The good news is both ROMs mentioned here have the ms office mobile apps built into them. So, you will get those back. Before you flash, be sure the files you created using the office apps are saved elsewhere (memory card or via activesync to another computer), otherwise you'll be kickin' yourself.
im new to this forum and i realy want to upgrade my hermes to wm6.1 ...
so what i need are the guiding steps to do that and a recommended rom that is light caz i i use tomtom and some other heavy softwares
plz help
im currently running the official wm6 from imate
my las question is ...are the imaginet arabizer work for arabizing my pda after the upgrade
The best way to do what you want is to read. There is lot of stickies with zillion different information. Read as much as you can and start flashing.
Just remember though that you will have to re-install all your apps as they will be wiped with the os. Its like doing a hard reset.
You can move most of your apps over to the memory card though so as not to loose them but you may be required to input a key again to register them.
Make sure you backup ALL your contacts too or you WILL loose them.
And Please, for the sake of your Hermes , Hard SPL your Hermes.........
Cheers...
