For some reason I am unable to upgrade to WM5, maybe it's because it's a new phone and the upgrade only works on later models.
Have tried using the programs found on the Wiki site but with no joy.
Am still having problems with playing media files (mainly video) with the Windows Media 10 (lots of people seem to have the version 9), is there a better media player I can download?
Media player
Try TCPMP from here: http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/
It works well for me. You may also want to convert your files to a smaller size with the right res (320x240) and for that I use Pocket Divx Encoder available here: http://divx.ppccool.com/
thanks stoo, unfortunatley the first link doesn't seem to work, even from a direct google search, maybe the site is down.
Tried the Pocket Divx Encoder but the encoded file still is'nt recognized by the WMplayer, any ideas?
Anyone managed to make the Artemis play videos from video google, break or you tube at all? if so, how?
Thanks.
The following tutorial from this very site may be of help:-

You may also want to check out
http://www.keepvid.com
which can help you to download the hidden .flv files from flash based video websites.
I've used Keepvid + Replay Converter (commercial) to get .avi's which can play on Windows Mobile.
If you find a player which can play .flv files directly on Windows Mobile, I'd be interested, as the conversion process with Replay Converter is quite slow.

I have downloaded TCPMP and I can only watch some files, the software tells me windows media audio and video are not supported. I am guessing I have to download some codecs but I am unable to find any. Is this true and if so does anyone know where to find these codecs and how to install (I am assuming install is easy)
codec
hi,
depending on the type of movie you you can use different codec's but i all way download mp4 or make movie fram dvd in mp4 format, as player i use tcpmp an the aac codec an that works like a charm!
share bear

hey,
welcome to the forum !
try and search for tcpmp 0.81 RC1. it's beefed up with all plug-ins and codecs you might need. i tried uploading it but i'm unable to for some reason. look in the forum, you just might find it - i think i found it here myself.
good luck !
I get an error every time i load up a video, is there a fix for this?

Here is Kinoma FreePlayer Full where you can view more then 10 videos...
Hey,
Im sorry if this is a really stupid question!
But ive got Core player and kinoma, and all i want to do is stream videos from youtube, but once i start streaming it always opens up the default Windows Media player on my mobile.
I always use browse internet explorer to do this then select the youtube link on the site..
If theres any way of changing the program that gets opened could you please tell me!
Im using the standard Kavana’s 6.1 ROM.
Cheers
Get skyfire and just play them as you would on you pc.

That still doesnt solve my problem, I need to change my Default Windows Media Player on my Mobile to open to another program instead to stream.

I left out the audio associations for Pocket Player to handle the best Audio Player avaiable.
I prefer using Kinoma Free Flay, you can get it from my link to smartphone programs below...

If in doubt, ask, which is why I am asking the experts on this forum as I'm having quite the time with AVS video convertor finding a setting that will give me files playable in Windows Mobile 6.5 WMP on my TP2.
Yes, I do have CorePlayer but the blue flicker bugs me so unless TCPMP can play back a file, I think WMP is my best bet for TV output. However, I've yet to find a good setting that will play in WMP, does anyone have any advice on optimum Video and Audio encoding settings on AVS or any other suitable encoder? I'm looking for each file to take up about 400MB of space per hour of playback.
Funnily enough I have some old files from when I fisrst got a smartphone that are at the optimum size and playback but even by using Gspot to inspect them I can't figure out which program I used to create them all those years ago. All I know is it had a simple GUI you chose which type of device you had and it converted the file ending each with the original name plus _PocketPC. Anyone who knows what it is please can you post as I'd love to use it again (it was on a now-dead machine).
Thanks
