i keep getting an I/O error when i put **** on my G1
i tried refortmatting
but it didnt work
what do i do?
i wasnt aware you can put **** on ur g1
what are you try to put?
be more specific
I'm getting I/O errors too. Started a month or two ago (never happened before that) and now I get these errors frequently, like on one in four transfers (from computer to phone/SD card, via USB). I don't why or what is causing it, but I'm guessing my MicroSDHC card might be bust.
nahh i fixed it
like
i had this extender and it was usb 1.0 and thats what ****ed it up
Yeah the last time I had those errors it was a bad external drive. Of course a bad SD card could cause this too.

It depends, i would not advise you do take out the microsd card while the phone is on, but if the card is not being read or written to then it shouldn't be an issue.
I have taken it out while its on, off with no problems at all. Do at your own risk though.

I do the same as SD is hot swappable but to advise to do so would be kinda wrong, especially as like i said the issues involved will be if a read or write is in progress at which point if you do remove the possibility is for the data on the card to be corrupted, so my post was so as i can't be to blame for any error involved in taking out the memory when device is on

Well my 16gb somehow got curropted and won't be read by my phone or computer how do I fix it?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Seems like you need to reformat it, but you'll lose all your data.
I don't care about data lol how do I reformat it? With what program
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
1. If you can still get into recovery, you can navigate the menus and format it there
2. Plug it into your computer via micro sd adapter, right click it from my computer and click format, it'll warn you about losing data, click yes, may take a minute or 2 either way.
my computer wont read it but i will try through recovery
Alrighty, let me know how it goes.

didnt work it just says unavailable when i turn phone on. like as if it isnt in.... anyting else?
http://undeleteplus.com/ Other users have suggested that.
1. On your pc, it isn't even showing up as a drive? [removable G, fro example?]
2. In recovery, under advanced, and under partition sd card it acts as nothign is there?
Im having the same problem as you bro except its with a 2GB when I put it in my phone it automatically says "blank sd " and I try to format it but it stays unmounted. And tried a microsd card reader and it will pick up but makes the computer super slow and unresponsive and can't get it to format there either.

Try rebooting your computer, give it 5 minutes to run, try inserting your sd card, and give it some time to load. If the memory card is corrupted, it takes extra time to read...that worked for me regarding that problem.
I had this happen with my Wintec 16GB card, I managed to find some recovery software online (can't remember the name right now, sorry) and used that to recover some stuff but I couldn't get everything. I ended up formatting it with this from my PC and sent it back to Newegg.

Yeah, that's the one I decided to be cheap too and the reviews were good at the time but now I'm regretting it. Newegg has a pretty good exchange policy though if it dies. I just hope my second one doesn't go out too because then I might have to go through Wintec when it does.

It doesn't even show up on the SDformatter it just says "Not Responding" also haha
mines wont be read by my pc any help guys please?
Not sure if this is common or not but I have tried everything I can think of, and I don't see anything.
I have a Samsung Galaxy s3 (brand new, stock build) but everytime I put in an sdcard The settings>storage still says I need to insert it.
I have resigned myself to it being a hardware issue, but I would really like a more pragmatic response
WTF man after 4 years I break with my n1 for this?!?!?!

if your ever doubt I ran into the same problem but the blowing it like a Nintendo cartridge didn't work so if you have a micro sd card reader on your computer use and format the Micro SD to exfat from fat32 this seems to fix the problems 9 times out of 10

I came here looking for answer to this issue and laughed before blowing in the slot fixed problem. Now why didn't I think of that?
Got a pre used Galaxy Appolo 15800 and it will not read from sd card. It knows the card is there but will not mount/unmount or format.
Went to shop and tried other cards but still the same.
I am told the phone was on contract to 3 network and althought it has been unlocked the shop man wondered if there was a feature set into the phone by 3 so that reader doesnt work when the phone is unlocked form their network.
along the lines of blowing into the slot, I cut a strip from an old credit card and wiggled it about inside..
Bingo........ all systems go!!!!!!

I simply cannot believe this!!... I searched and read countless XDA, AndroidCe*tral forums and tech (C-NET) blog entries just to find countless posts of failing/corrupted SanDisk 32GB Ultra cards (as mine) inside S3's guts. No other card was working either and was resigning to reflash stock ROM and take it so tech support.
An additional search try and came to this post... And still cannot believe a simple (but powerful) blow inside the SD card slot actually solved the problem!! Thanks man! You saved my day (and my S3, my SD card and a week using a crap replacement phone)! :good:

Hi all, I had the same issue and unbelievable, the nintendo method works quite well !!!
In fact if we put the sd card at the top of the slot and keeping it pushed, we can see the phone detect the sd card! so a little poke and then it's fine ^^

This worked for me as well! I had blown on it a little last night and after reformatting and flashing various roms thinking perhaps that may of been the issue....it was indeed microscopic dust in the slot. Holy MOLY!!! This time, I blew in it like a mad man and sure enough, my phone is reading my 64gb card once again! Thanks everyone!!

After an hour of searching every forum for ways to fix the same problem, I arrived here, with little hope of anything more than I had already found. I thought that it was funny, what you said. Then I said: "Meh, **** it. Let's give it a try."
It works. You are God.
*P.S. I use this website frequently to find fixes and updates, but I never really registered. Just so you understand how grateful I am for this. I know, I could have registered for an array of different reasons, but I want you to know that the reason I did it now is to thank you. For the fix and the laugh!

thank god.

Hi

Blew in it. Couldn't help but think of this https://xkcd.com/218/
So for the last week I've been trying to flash different roms to see if it's the phone itself or just the current ROM I'm using. But I've come to the conclusion that it is the phone itself. It had already started to split down the middle a few weeks ago and so I put a cellairis case on it but that has made it almost impossible for me to take the battery out without destroying this thing. What is happening is that I wipe everything (Of course!) using smelkus, most times 2-3 wipes before flashing, I flash the rom and gapps if need be and then reboot. Well everything works good for about an hour, some times even a whole day and then everything starts to go buggy. My touch screen becomes non responsive, my soft keys don't work..nothing. I hold the power button to bring me back to the lock screen and unlock the phone again and it's working for a few minutes and then the same thing happens. My keyboard pops up when it wants to, i cant swipe through home screens without a massive stutter, nothing is functional. I've had it since Aug 2010 and i've taken great care of it but I know nothing lasts forever these days. Has anyone else ever experienced this and was there anything you were able to do to fix it? I guess I will have to break this case off of here and try to start with my battery but if that doesn't work does anyone have any suggestions? I know this has probably been brought up before but im at work and dont have time to browse through the millions of threads. Any help is appreciated!
I've had a similar issue (random craziness) when I partitioned my sd card and forgot to set swap to zero. Most of the roms I've been flashing recently have recommended a partitioned card so if yours isn't that could be it too. Hope you figure it out. Btw I see your from gville..I know your ready for the big dance this weekend...Go Noles..Lol.

So i got around to finally trying that and it still is acting up. I've tried multiple roms and they all do the same thing after about the first hour or so. Could it be my sd card?
What size sd card do you have? My phone started acting up after I put a 32gb card into it. Later I found out that sometimes OG EVOs have even issues with those.

Hey I know I maybe left with no choice but to format it but I thought I would ask anyway. I pulled my 32gig card out of my TF700 and put it into my note 3 and everything was fine. It saw the card and life was good. Now I powered it off for the night and turned it back on this morning to get it saying the SD card is damaged and needs to be formatted.
Is there anyway to get the data off at this point and also why the heck did that happen in the first place? I just want to avoid blowing it out again if it was something I did.
You can try putting it in an SD adapter and plugging into a computer and see if the files are accessible. Try more than one adapter if you have it. If you can't do anything on a comp or your tf700 with it you're Sol and need to format it if you can even do that still.

I actually just got off the phone with Samsung. I had gone thru 3 64 GB cards. He told me I doing it wrong. Said I need to get brand new card format on pc then install in phone and format again then it will work flawlessly. Dunno why but I gonna do it and I asked about fat32 and he said that also corrupts the card. Some more then others.

Only time cards come out is when they corrupted. Other than that the battery cover does not come off

Hmmm... Running any app2sd apps or any other scripts that make use of SD card? Could have something rogue corrupting it. I've had a couple sandisks get corrupted in the past but they were recoverable. Recoverable as in I was able to reformat. Haven't had a sandisk burn out on me yet. Other brands yes.
