Phone came pre-loaded with bootloader SPL-0.36.
I am unable to run imcokeman 2.31 bootloader, or .40, or .41. They experience error 262 at 0%.
I believe this SPL is the reason I cannot run commands in MTTY.EXE. Any suggestions would be immensely appreciated.

What type of computer are you using? Do you have Active sync installed?
You should be able to run the 2.31 unlocker. Where did you get the phone? New or used. After we get this info we might be able to get you going.
I got the phone used from Ebay.
I'm using an XP machine, 4gb's ram, 320 Gb hd.
I do have activsync installed.
It's not just the bootloaders that won't run, it appears no RUU is able to run, none of my roms are able to load. (by "doesn't run" i mean the progress bar doesn't move past 0%. The RUU runs, and initializes the phone's bootloader, and the progress bar appears on both the phone and computer screens but get an error a few seconds after.)
As such, I'm unable to upgrade the radio. When MTTY.exe wasn't running commands, I just concluded it had to be a bootloader problem but i am wrong often.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Is the phone from a differnet carrier than yours. No custom rom is going to load since the phone is still locked. You could load the stock rom of the carrier the phone is from most likely.
Did the phone boot any rom when you got it, or just straight to bootloader.
Thanks for the advice. It boots into WM. It came with a Sprint Rom. It is a Sprint phone.
I've tried loading original sprint rom. Same error, doesn't go past 0%. There must be a reason why the unlockers aren't effective. Not even the re-locker.
I'm lost but feel like there's something i haven't tried. Any one else who has experienced this, please chime in.

I would first try unlocker 2.31 from bootloader mode. If that didnt work I would uninstall active syce and try 2.31 from boatloader again. I have heard this work a few times. I would also take the battery out for 10 or so minutes before any of these. Just a shot.

Feel free to beat me to death with my own mouse if this Q was already obviously answered somewhere, but I have searched these forums and failed to find a definitive answer on the matter....
I downloaded the WM6 beta ROM (RUU_Excalibur_TMO_US_1.20.531.1_4.1.13.34_02.79.90_Test), and have CID unlocked my device via Gsmliberty.com. My question is...do I need to install the updated bootloader (RUU_Excalibur_SPL-1.11_UpgradeOnly.exe) on my S620, or is this bootloader only necessary for the Dash?
I want to make certain I am doing this right, in fear of bricking my device.
Answers?
if your bootloader is wrong the upgrade will give you an error message and restart your phone
The S620 is running bootloader 1.11.405.4
Just for kicks I ran the bootloader upgrade (which actually downgrades to lower version) and I got a (206)Connection Error.
I'm pretty sure you do need it. Like stated above, if you get an error when you try the upgrade, the answer is YES!!
You'll definitely need it if you try to go back...
-Mc
But how can I install the RUU_Excalibur_SPL-1.11_UpgradeOnly.exe bootloader? When I attempt do so I get the Connection Error. I launch the setup wizard, my Screen gets the rainbow bar with the word USB appearing at the bottom. At that point the installer seems to hang or timeout and I get that blasted connection error. Even the device appears stuck and I have to remove the battery to bring it back to a state of consciousness.
Am i doing something wrong?
you really should read the available info regarding this subject before you attempt to do something like this. if you read the thread about 13 posts down regarding flashing a cosmo you will see how to do the upgrade. it worked for me on my s620. i downloaded the files that the person giving the instructions provided a link to instead of editing my own files.
I'm trying to use HardSPL to upgrade my SPL on my AT&T 8525 from this link
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=30&Itemid=27
and running into problems.
When the bootloader is trying to upgrade my SPL, it seems to to disconnect my phone from my computer in the process of upgrading. I've tried it over 10 times and the same result everytime. I've also done a master reset on my phone just ot make sure it's nothing that I may have changed in the settings.
Does anyone know what the hell is going on? I really want to upgrade my phone to WM6 and running into a problem already by just following the instructions given.

Not easy to help you if you do not give more details... Are you running XP or Vista? Is it the first time you try to flash a rom (did it work already?)? Which version of Activesync are you using? Is your USB cable directly connected to a port of your PC or through a "long chain" of hubs?...
Nevermind, I finally got it. It doesn't state inside the instructions but here is some info to anyone new who has the same problem as I did.
Make sure to check your phone when the program will be searching your phone for info. You will need to give the program a "Yes" or "No" option on your phone. So watch out for that as it will save you a lot of heartache of the whole upgrading process.

hmm thats strange. do you have your carriers official os and radio rom? if so, try flashing that, then starting over again. i am going to be making a quick and easy post on how to get to gps/rev a roms here in under 2 min...try giving it a read after you have flashed back.
EDIT: also...tell us all the steps you did so that we can help others in the future/easier diagnose your problem.
good luck and feel free to ask any questions

so what unlockers have you downloaded? what other unlocker could you possibly have used?
try running exitbl.exe round in the rom exe or the ruu folder.
1. so what files were used in the process?
2. what rom did you flash/use (what is "the rom .exe")
3. what carrier are you on?
4. did you let any customizations run on any roms?
EDIT: also, have you given this a read yet? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=394039
i would also recommend at least skimming over dharvey4651's tutorial to see if this has happened to any others and he has posted a "how to fix your device if..." kind of a thing for your case.
Hi I have recently tried to flash my Touch Diamond ROM, messed the hell out of it and, the only way to fix it is to flash it with the original stock ROM that it came with. Could anyone please help me with this.
HTC Touch Diamond P3700
Rom SPL 1.93
CID HTC_017
The phone was not branded straight from the manufacturer.
The problem is that I tried to flash the phone without doing hard SPL
Cleaned the whole phone and the only thing working now is the connection to the computer Trough mtty. I tried using other ROMS but they stop at 1% and gave me a vendor incorect error or something.
just download it from htc site
I tried but when I select the Serial number it says that the update is not for my phone and doesn't let me download it. and the ones that they have are only updates.
Does anyone have a valid Serial Number that i can use to download update ROM from HTC?
Have you tried any official roms posted around here? like this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410720
I did that but it started to load the roam into the phone and crashed at 1%,
it gave "Invalid Vendor Id" error and it turns off. Is there like a unversal HTC rom that at very least gets me access to the NANd Memory
I just want to HArd_spl the phone and install a new ROm
Dont even care about the original ROM any more

Try that one HT828GN27034 and let me know the result.
Oh very nice, thank U very much, I'll try it right now.
All of the Upgrade ROMs just give me invalid Vender ID error message
Doesn't make sense to me though, i tried flashing the Phone With Hard-SPL but for some odd reason it hangs at 0%.
Is my phone dead for good or there might be a way to fix this issue
did u installed OLINEX first?
If ur phone is in 3 color screen try to install Olinex 1.4 and after that flash it with stock ROM.
No thats the thing, I Just Cleaned the phone with Mtty and tried to flash it with WM6.5. but after the cleaning nothing really work out. and i cant even go back to the the old Rom cose I did not back it up.

What windows are you using?
I am using windows 7, but i tried the same process on vista and XP, same result, the phone connects to the pc, and right as i try to load one of the ROMs from HTC's website, the thing crashes at 1% and says invalid vendor ID error.
IS there a universal ROM that can be loaded, or my phone is bricked for good?
Perhaps you want to have a look here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Diamond_Upgrades
Succes!
Oh wow this place has every ROM type but mine, so not fare, u think if i download and try every one of these other ones I might have some sort of luck?
I used HTC's MTTY and figuered that My CID is HTC__017, and the 1.93 Spl
and mine is not listed there.
Hey, I have the EXACT same problem. My diamond is the US 3G Unbranded phone (DIAM110, CID=HTC__017). I've both called and emailed HTC asking for the ROM, but they say that they do not have it. The only way to get it would be to request it from the vendor you bought it from. I got mine as a gift so I can't really do that. Oh, and if you want them to flash it for you, you have to pay like $160. Not cheap. And you know HTC, they'll make up that your main board's fried, and ask you to pay $300. If you have WARRANTY, send ASAP. Mine expired a week ago.
As for flashing random ROMs, most likely this will not work (although you can try). The way your phone determines if it's allowed to install the ROM is by looking at the beginning of the file. If you open up the NBH with an editor, you can see and even change the ID. The problem is, HTC "signs" the file with a 2048 RSA key (2^2048), and if you even change one digit then the signature will be invalid.
So yes, I have the exact same problem, my thread is at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623320, so if you have any luck, or I do, check out that thread.
At this point, the only things that are left to do are to beg HTC or a vendor for the ROM update (I might find HTC developer's mailing address and ask them); find a way to get into Soft SPL, or in other words load into memory a bootloader that would allow flashing of unsigned code; or find a vulnerability that would allow flashing unsigned code (has been done with Trinity).
Also you can try contacting Olipro, cmonex, and pof, but I so far have had no luck.
Hopefully we'll find something.
~codeslicer
Hey man, thanks for the reply, we are pretty much on the same exact boat, am gonna try to contact HTC see if my warranty is still up, and the phone i got it as a gift, I don't have a recipt of a proof of purchase, what do u think i should tell them. And if that doesn't work, I think I am going to try every single 1.93 ROM
in this site.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Diamond_Upgrades
And also what is your CID. if its HTC_017 then its not here, but there are a lot of them in here so u might get some luck.
let me know how it goes man.
I think i have the solution
can u please confirm clearly as what has happened , hope i have the specific solution .
I'm a bit of a NOOB, so bear with my terminology. My phone was rooted and Nand unlocked (S=off), running Fresh 3.4. It will not accept calls so I have to take it to Sprint. I ran the latest RUU to get it unrooted, but I could not use Titanium Backup to restore my apps. I ran Universal AutoRoot.zip http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=838448 and went through what seemed to be the complete process. At the end I was left with the bootloader menu to boot into the recovery but my EVO will not go into recovery. When I try I get I get a phone with a red triangle. I have tried everything I know (I'm a bit of a NOOB), and I cannot get to recovery or Nandroid. I did a Nandroid Backup but can't get to it. My phone no longer communicates with my computer. I have just moved and need my phone to set up appointments. Please help, I'm desperate. I have posted this to multiple forums.

If you ran the RUU and unrooted you WILL NOT be able to do a nandroid restore or be able to go into recovery. Those are things that are only available with rooting.
so how can I get my phone operational, rooted or unrooted?
Run the RUU again. That should bring back to a fully operational state. You won't be rooted though but at least it will work and you can bring it in to Sprint. Just make sure that the RUU you run is the correct one for your software version.
my phone does not communicate with my computer so I can't run the RUU exe. There must be a way to unlock the phone and access to the Nandroid or at least allow the phone to communicate with the computer.

Put your phone in fastboot and see if your computer sees it. Do you have the sdk setup by any chance?

There is no way to get the phone unlocked unless you ROOT. And as far as getting it to communicate with the computer. Get into your bootloader and use the USB option, I don't remember what its called but I believe it is the top option that should get you connected to your computer then the RUU should run successfully.
the computer does not see the phone in any mode (that I know of). I know someone who does have access to sdk. what needs to be done?

If your bootloader runs then that should work, I have done it a million times when I borked my phone doing stupid stuff lol.
It was not clear the computer saw the phone in USB mode - I tried. Are you saying use the USB option. then what - use Sdk commands?
how do I know the Bootloader is working, or capable of doing the trick?. what signs. The computer still can't see the phone

Nope, you don't have to use any commands at all. Just run the RUU you want from your computer. The RUU as in the script that runs from your computer.
Try fastboot, the top option. You on windows?

There ya go, thats the option I was referring to. Sorry I was to lazy to boot into bootloader and see what it was actually called.
Once in fastboot you should see drivers install if its your first time, otherwise (if you can) cd to your android-sdk-windows/tools folder and run "fastboot devices". Your phone should show up in the output. If not then its still not seeing your phone.
If your phone is being recognized then run the RUU for your software version or higher. Sometimes running the RUU takes a few tries.
AWESOME! Thanks Yellowcard8992 and MetalHead. The RUU is running. I started from Bootloader and clicked the exe. Thanks a million! That was my first issue. How do I, or what program or app or whatever do I use, to root my phone 'enough' to use Titanium Backup. This is an invaluable app, when one has Root. I still need to take it back to sprint, and I don't want these Root / S-off issues again.

Follow what he is saying. And another thing to add is that you may need to restart your computer in order to get it to recognize your phone too, as well under fastboot to reboot the bootloader. These have both gave me the ability to run the RUU after doing that. And if you downloaded a folder that said it was the ruu thats not what we are talking about, you need to download the file we are referring to here...

As for your question about how to be able to use titanium, your going to have to use a full root method with S-OFF. There isn't really a partial way to do it, so if your using Titanium, then you have to be rooted unfortunately.
Broncos - which is the most up-to-date RUU to use as far as Sprint is concerned? The link Shipped ROMS you provided shows lots of RUUs, I thought .651.5 was newest, but I see a .651.6. There are several permuatations... which one. What about Rooting. Is there a 'good' 'easy' way? Or is there a program like Titanium that doesn't need root. Can you suggest a method? thanks again for being so prompt in your responses. I really feel lots better.

3.30 is the newest.
Root is necessary for backing up protected apps, etc. What hboot version are you? That currently dictates your rooting options.

Your fine, there for awhile I thought that you were gonna have a heart attack. Just remember when your messing with your phone to ALWAYS take deep breaths. As far as the RUU goes you should be just fine running this one: RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.30.651.3_Radio_2.15.00.09.01_NV_1.77_003_release_157088_signed.exe.
And as far as Titanium I'm not sure if there is one, it all depends on what you are trying to backup. What do you use it for?
