Is there a driver out there I can slap onto C:\ so that the computer will see my phone and let me drag files to it? I don't need ActiveSync atm just a driver so that the phone is recognized.
OS is XP btw

Turning off active sync on the phone and disabling auto connect on desktop active sync should force Windows to install your device as a flash storage device.
Well, the thing is that I want to use my phone on the desktop I use in the office. It's a company asset without Sync Center and it only sees the phone as a Generic RNDIS so that's why I'm looking for a simple solution.
Would WM5torage be the best thing? Would that have been in the Rose ROM 1.6 by Stylez and Ricky?

Hey,
I have a strange problem when transferring files from my XDA Orbit (WM6) to my PC. The transfer window appears with its progress bar, and everything seems to work OK, but then the file itself doesn't appear in the desktop PC folder.
Hope you can help,

btw which version you are using the best is 4.5 the one coming with the phone is 4.2
alternatively download wm5torage from the forum it will trun your phone into a flash memory no need for active sync just plug the cardle and activate wm5torage and transfer your files at 1.1 UBS rate!! deactivate wm5torage and you can use active sync again
but for reinstaling a rom wm5 is not an option... i cannot sync my device with pc.. ( tried reinstalling the 4.5 msasync, soft reseted the device...nothing. What should i do? i have )2 Premium WWE.

Hi! I figured out how to file transfer to the phone through ubuntu .BUt, Is there anyway to flash the t-dash with ubuntu? I'm just wondering. Is there a linux version of ActiveSync? I tried searching google and I had no luck.

Hey. How did you manage to do that? got an HTC tytn and been struggling long. I got ubuntu 9
when you say ubuntu 9, i assume you mean 9.04?
what i believe you want to use is a program called wm5torage i believe. it has just come with all the roms i have been using so i'm not sure where to find it. it sets up your phone as a flash drive with your sd card.
as far as active sync, there is a project that would provide some of the activesync functionality. but it doesn't allow for flashing
as far as i know you still have to use windoze for that.
Hi all,
i benefit from this post to report the excellent Syncmate !
It work very fine on mac (i use hackintosh).
I have tested that it works perfectly with the 3VO ROM, surely even faster than activesync on windows! Icredible!!
http://mac.eltima.com/sync-mac.html
syncmate for free can syncronize only i-calc and contact and ,obviously, it can mount excalibur as external disc,. Sync mate pro have full options!
CIao!
Hello.
I have a problem regarding Active Sync just does not detect my phone(Touch Pro 2) and so I can not upload new romu. Nor can I upload anything to the phone memory. Somebody knows another way to load a ROM. Or to fix this error?
I'm from Polish so my English is not as good.
Welcome aboard,
Try leaving marked just the 1st option on start-settings-connections-USB to PC
Other option is that you flash from micro SD card
I can not install the card as it pops up an error that I can not copy files.

fiflakk, what orb is saying is to check the DOT next to "ActiveSync (Sync with Outlook)", and UNcheck the BOX right below it next to "Enable faster data synchronization." I've attached a shot of that screen so you can see what it looks like...
I did as you say, but I still can not detect the active sync

We'll need some more details:
-What version of windows/activesync are you using? For XP and older, you need "ActiveSync", but for Vista or Win7 you need the new version called "Windows Mobile Device Center"
-What exactly happens when you plug the phone in via USB? Does your PC respond in anyway, even just to give error messages? What messages does it give you?
-Does anything appear on the phone screen?
-Have you tried a different PC, or different USB ports on the same PC? Or a different cable?
-Has it ever recognized this phone on this PC in the past?

i had a similar issue where i could not connect to activesync but could connect as disk drive. tried pretty much everything, my non connectivity was happening becoz i was running dot fred taskmgr and clearing the notifications. had to hard reset and active sync was back. i tried it a few times, as soon as i delete notifications i would lose activesync. stopped using that and now no problems, still have to figure out how to delete notifications and keep activesync alive.
hi i am new to the htc hd mini and i am finding very hard to find good info on what to do with it maybe its still new, but how do i install apps i have downloaded a few themes/apps and not having any joy of putting them on the the phone sure i have put them on the memory card but can't install them from there i have downloaded the activesync (running win xp) and that don't install apps. so i am stuck it was quicker and easy to jailbreak the ipod touch and put apps on there. where am i going wrong ?
many thanks a confused hd mini owner.
p.s
now i know there is no compass on it (one of the things i was looking forward to using)
also while looking on youtube there was a clip where someone is doing street view or somethink like and moving the phone about and the street image moved too, also i was told that using google maps with the layers i could find a shop with it..i think this must be for another phone.
apart from this its still a nice little phone would be much better if i could get some of the above working.
App extensions are CAB it's like seeing zip or rar file on PC.
to check the file extension in your PC go to Folder Option > View Tab > Remove tick from Hide Extension...
move cab files in your Storage card then in file explorer from your phone click on them and if prompt Microsoft security choose Yes and finally choose where to install applications.
in case your application is EXE: connect your phone to your PC via Active Sync and then run the file from PC... Follow the on screen instructions.
thanks emrause i shall try this when the phone wants to connect to the pc this morning for some unknown reason it don't want to connect to the pc i have tryed a data drive and getting no luck and only once did i did it will activesync but nothink happend...almost pulling my hair out here...wish they would have made the phone a bit more user friendly

Any clues, any one?
That´s a bit tricky. It depends what you are going to do and on what S3 Rom you are at the moment.
For KitKat Rom there are 2 USB Modi for the S3.
USB Storage : Direct connection to the SD card. Windows needs no driver.
MTP : Connection to internal S3 RAM and SD card. Windows needs driver. Look in optional drivers in Windows update for AyunOS driver.
This 2 modi can be chosed, when you connect the S3 viy USB wire.
For Lollipop ROM the USB Storage mode isn´t working right now.
For MTP you should find a driver in Windows update too, but i don´t use Win10.
Last but not least driver for SP Flashtool. SPF needs a special driver (VCOM-Driver). More tricky to install, but you can find information
and how-to on google and youtube.

Thanks for replying! I have the stock OS, KitKat, so it seems like I should be able to connect - I think there must be a problem with my laptop in that case, I will have a look in device manager and event viewer and see if I can figure out what's happening.
Out of interest, what is the status of Lollipop on the S3?
Thanks!

Do you hear the windows sound when connecting the S3? If not try a different USB port on the laptop.
There are 3 official Lollipop ROM right now. All 3 are good, with minor bugs. LL5.1 NewUI is for the chinese,
so a lot of chinese crap with it. I´m on Xtreme from TF right now for 3 days and pretty happy with it.
For more information read the last 20 pages of the monster thread above.
Ok, yes, I get the sound. Trying a different port does yield a slightly different result - if I connect in USB storage mode I see a new drive in Windows Explorer ("Removable Disk (E"), but if I try to open it Windows tells me to insert a disk. In MTP mode I see 'S3' in Explorer, and if I open that I see the phone memory and the SD card. This seems mostly ok, although it can get really slow.

Ok, MTP is working good. If it´s slow, then your SD is slow.
For USB Storage : What file system do you have on the SD?
I don't actually know, is there an easy way to find out?

Jap, either you use an external partition manager or from windows "disk management".
Also you can left click the drive, right click -> properties -> also shows the type of partition.
If you don´t see a partition type under windows, chances are its a linux/android one.
Check it with Linux or download the app "aparted" from playstore, so you can check it
with the smartphone.

I wonder if it's the file system type of my SD card, Windows Explorer shows nothing when I attach it via a USB adapter to my laptop?
