Hi Im realy sorry for this probably stupid thread but, I installed iGo8 version 8.3.2.64873 on my Touch HD but when I try to seek my GPS device it says that no device was found. Anyone has the same problem and is there any way how to fix it?
No problem over here. But I set my GPS settings manually to COM4 and 57600 baud in the settings. Give it a try.
thanks
Thanks a lot I did that and it suddenly started to work so I set it back to auto search for GPS and its working just fine, anyways when navigating in 3D does the picture looks like as it has a low frame rate, because on mine it looks that way the movement is not smooth

why is that? what about taking pics for GPS applications (such as Run.GPS)
its so annoying to stop the GPS and then take the picture!!
I have the same problem, tried something with te gps settings and this is the solution:
GPS - Original settings are GPD1 with COM9:4800 and checked auto managed.
Set to COM8 for programs and hardware at COM9:4800
Then the camera wil function properly

I have the same setting with you but can't use the camera when GPS running.
yep
you cannot take a picture once GPS is on - whilst in other phones its no issue
there is also something with alarms and GPS which get along together
go figure...
This really is lame, so no auto trace gps with cam options ;(
lame that samsung didnt fix this, these are small annoyances what would make me go to another brand phone.
I didnt find any solutions for this problem..
thyis and so many other issues on this phone
the most simple matter - there is no cable to do hot sync and charge together...go figure?
battery is so low when GPS runs, I cannot complere a singe bike trip with it
I installed TT6 and got a squashed unreadable display, so I then downloaded WVGAFIX_BY_Cotulla which I got from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=455974
This little prog gives you 3 screen resolutions to choose from and it resolved the TT6 display issue (it also solved my Bridge game which also would not display properley)
I told TT6 to use "other NMEA GPS receiver" on com4 - It works perfectly
Thats great. thanks for the info.
had the same problem, going to try ur method.
Ive also manged to get TT6 working fine on my HD, However for soem reason it turns on the bluetooth as if it needed to connect to an external gps, not sure how to configure it??

Congratulation to your very nice news. Just some questions:
- Which screen options did you use?
- Do you use a (mort)script to set screen option before TomTom starts and reset after it terminates?
- What happens when there is a screen changing while running TomTom, for example when a phone call is coming in?
Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hi Goody
Use the 480x640 resolution to get the biggest possible screen on your Touch HD
You can use (mort)script but its not necessary, 2 extra strokes.
After you exit from Tom Tom you need to go back to the 480x800 screen resolution which is the normal HD settings.
Best Wishes

Hi SamCory
Thanks for sharing your great discovery and some brilliant lateral thinking, thats why I love this forum and visit it almost daily, the information on here is brilliant.
KaidM
This really worked great for me.
Now awaiting a 480x800 version or is that not possible
Excellent news and thanks to anybody providing news.
While waiting for my HD to arrive, I just would like to know what happens with the screen when TT6 runs and a phone call comes in. Does the screen get garbled?
If I had my HD already I would try myself...
where can i get tomtom software from im tired of looking for free tomtom software help plz
About 3 days ago I noticed that TTS wasnt working on my iGO install. I started to tinker around with it and eventually got it working again. However over the last 2/3 days it has been hit and miss at best, sometimes working and picking up lots of sats and sometimes none.
Today I have performed a hard reset after going back to my previous Radio in case there was something Id installed or broke to test. I have HTC GPS tool installed and iGO8 and so far nothing. iGO finds the com port etc fine but when you go to the view to look at sat lock they are all red with no bars. Ive tried leaving it for 10 mins and nothing.
Can anyone suggest a tool or pointers to test if the GPS has failed.
Looks like it will be going back to HTC.
Try changing the baud rate to 9600. I had it set to the highest in igo and it really struggled to get a lock. I changed it to a lower setting and I usually get a lock within 30 seconds.
Be sure you have A-GPS turned off via HDTweak or AdvanceConfig.
Ive never had a problem with iGO setting the BAUD rate to the highest but ive given it a go at 9600. No change. It just sits there.
I checked the A-GPS setting first just in case Id accidentally changed it but its off.
What I could do with is a piece of software which can show me it is receiving readings from sats and not just signal strength. Anyone know of one?
I have this and it works fine on the HD:
Chartcross GPS Test 1.04 http://www.chartcross.co.uk
It will search your device for GPS and if found then look for signals.
Its officially broken. Ive got my return number from HTC and it goes away on monday for a week.
Wonder if theyll update the firmware? Only hope I suppose.
Sorry to hear that. I hope you get it back quickly.
The only reason I didn't buy a Touch Pro was the problem with GPS accuracy and lag when using TomTom (I use TomTom all the time on my Eten Glofish M700 and have got used to the quick locking and excellent performance of the SIRF III chipset in this phone).
Does anyone know if the GPS lag problems have been fixed in the Touch Pro 2?
I searched around and didn't see an answer to this yet.
Has it been fixed?
Seeing the tips and tricks section contain the same suggestion as we had for the TP makes me think not . . .
I now own a TP2 and can confirm that there is virtually no lag with either iGo8 or TT7 - both are perfectly usable
Using tt7 side by side with a TomTomGO they talk at the same time.....so no lag.....
I have been using TP2 with Garmin and Igo8 and comparing the lag with my in dash car Garmin side by side (using the same map).. can confirm that TP2 perform as good as my Kaiser .... no lag....
TP2 GPS
If TP2 GPS is the same as Kaiser, it's pretty bad. It takes forever to lock in Kaiser

Both devices have different qualcomm chip and TP2 has an almost instant fix if you setup QuickGPS to update automatically.....
No problems here either, I have a fix within 20 seconds and it works great with TomTom 7! So I'd say go for it...
I also don't have any lag.
But I make sure that all other programs are closed.
Try installing you TomTom program files (not the rest) in main memory.
And try a softreset before you start navigating.
Using it with Navigon and no lag at all. Plus i get an almost instant GPS fix which is way better than the Touch Cruise I had before.
for me the TP2's GPS lock-on is almost instant, especially if you use advanced config and enable A-GPS
I'm pretty gutted reading all these posts, as my GPS is a small nightmare. It fixes VERY quickly - no probs there.
But - and I have done all suggested tweaks - there is a serious lag issue for certain. TT has to play serious catchip when you turn etc.
Think there are others in same situation as well if I remember correctly from previous threads.

Same here.
All tweaks applied, fix is instant, but turning on the highway on a exit ramp is a nightmare.
TT is always 20 meters behind.
Also, when i boot the TP2 the GPS fix is instant, when the phone has been running for a few days and I start TT, the fix takes ages.
A restart of the TP2 solves this, after the reboot the fix is instant again.
Second problem: Sometimes using the TT for more than 30 minutes, the nav completely locks the current location.
Like there is the same location coming from the GPS.
Restarting TT solves it. This effect occurs rarely, but is annoying none the less.

Just a thought.... do you think it could have anything to do with the read speed of a slower class SD card. I have a 16GB class 2 microSD card. Or maybe it's just an issue with reading the maps off the card.
I noticed that as well as my maps lagging, my music skips as well when the GPS is running.
Maybe it has nothing at all to do with the GPS.
Just my two cents!
I have bad lag on mine as well. The lock is pretyt much instant, no problems there, but lag on TT7, iGO8, Navigon are all the same - they all lag by at least 2 seconds and it's incredibly frustrating.
I've done so many different suggested tweaks, gone through advice from HTC, nothing changes it at all. So I don't know if it's a hardware problem if some are getting no lag and others aren't?
I'm running an 8GB class 6 SanDisk card. It's formatted correctly and everything, and ran like a dream on my Kaiser, but like a dog on TP2. I'm giving it another month or so (since it's a new phone), but if there's no fix from HTC by then, the phone's going into them to get looked at and will keep going back until my gps runs as well as some those with no lag.
[double post]
Well, this is slightly encouraging, but at the same time there were plenty of people who claimed their TP worked great and we all know the majority of those were ****ed with GPS lag.
Guess time will tell as more people get these in the US esp.
Yep - works fine using Memory Map too - bit slow on googlemaps, but that's just the time it takes to download the pictures.
runs great on my tp2...try to uncheck poi`s. more poi`s activated on mapview means more lag...i`ve had this problem on my i780 too.
Hi there. It's about 3 months that my TP2 gps is not working
there is not any error or something. it only starts to search for satellites but not even one little percent is found! all bars remains empty
I wait for long times in very good locations. compared with other phones...
I searched many roms, many radios, many programs, and some tweaks I found on the web
I dont remember the original settings and radio I had anymore! though they dont work either...
any help please? should I give up and believe that its a hardware issue?
I found that mine does the same thing. Oddly enough, when I add the bluetooth GPS receiver it works fine, even AFTER I remove the bluetooth receiver (turned off) and go back to my internal receiver. It seems that the TP2 can't lock onto the satellites but once it has a lock will continue to track...
Major pain in the arse...

Thanks. unfortunately I have no bluetooth gps right now. will test this with my brother's car navigator
the annoying thing is that it works very nice in first months! but as soon as I started flashing cooked roms and new radios it never works again
rolling back to my default rom and radio, doesn't help...
