Hey guys, I installed the nrgz28 1.3 on my tmobile dash and all was good. I have another phone that I switch out from time to time. I went back to my dash and it freezes on the htc screen. Ive searched everything and nothing is working. I tried the hard boot, I got the colored screen while holding camera button down and then turning on but the program says corrupt file or cannot detect phone. Am I missing a step, thanks for any help.

What do you mean hard boot? Hard reset! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3263295&postcount=4
bootloader is the procedure for which you use the camera button with the usb cable only to install the oem 6.0 rom.
Thanks for the reply,Yes I tried the camera button, Ive taken the battery out, put sims in, took sims out, I left the battery out overnight and still stuck on the HTC screen. Not sure what else to do. Thanks for any help.
Ok, I did overlook the hard reset and did the boot. I feel stupid, thought I covered everything. Just did the reset and all is good.
Thanks very much Roloracer.

Hey guys, i just got a new T-Mobile Dash and it's started acting up from day 2. Turned it on today and it doesn't work, it doesn't get past the Windows Mobile screen (from what i've seen this looks like a fairly common issue). After reading around i've tried to flash to numerous roms but only 2 of the official t-mobile roms have worked (others gave error 270, wrong vendor, wrong device, etc) but still the phone doesn't get past that screen. I've tried to do the hard-reset trick a bunch of times and still no go, any clues? Thank you.

Take out the memory card and try to boot her up. If that does not work.. call T-Mo and get a new one
To get past the error 270, download the SDA Unlock app. That should get you past the error there. As for not getting past the Windows screen, I had that problem too. You should be able to get it working by hooking it up to the charger. I found that my Dash was not reading the battery as having a charge. I am not sure if I have solved the overall problem yet but, just in case, you might avoid using the USB as a charger and go with the wall charger. Just keep it on the USB long enough to sync and unplug.
Hope that helps

do a hard reset hold da 2 soft keys and press the on button keep holdin da soft keys until u see a screen asking u do u want to do a hard reset hope dat works
Thanks for the responses guys but i've already tried all that. The only thing i haven't been able to try is do a hard reset with the wall charger plugged in, for some reason it doesn't matter how many times i do the steps it never shows me the black screen. I might be on the same boat as you because the battery i got with the phone is some cheap counterfeit chinese crap. I'll keep trying to get to the black screen with the phone plugged in but any other help would be greatly appreciated.
Btw, i can't do anything with T-Mobile because this is an unlocked phone i got somewhere else and can't return it so i'm stuck trying to make it work.
Check sticky to make sure doing correctly
Hard-Reset & Bootloader there is 2 x options there.
I was doing it right.
So after a million retries i got the phone to boot and do the cold boot thing. Then, i did the usual steps for putting a newer rom with WM6.1 on it (RUU_Excalibur_WM61_Kavana_080408_WWE). It worked, rebooted and went into the home menu, i thought i had brought it back from the dead until i inserted the sim. I got the sim failure message and when i pressed done it crashed. Now it won't go into the home menu no matter if the sim is inserted or not. Already tried to see if the sim was making good contact by putting pressure on it, no change.
This is too frustrating.
Ok so i've semi gotten it to work by booting it up without a sim, turning flight mode on, inserting the sim and then turning flight mode off. I get asked for my pin, the phone registers and i can make/receive calls. The problem is that a) it eventually loses the connection and b) i don't want to be doing this every time i turn the phone on.
Any ideas?
so ive been having this issue of my phone turning off randomly. ive read other posts where ppl are saying its the battery, get a new battery. i got a new battery and its still turning off. i let the phone load and stuff but the first button i hit, no matter which button, the phone just turns itself off. ive tried the rest the phone with the on button/2 soft keys. tried holding the camera button while turning the phone on and nothing seems to work.....this sucks.
.......anybody?

Does your phone power off when connected to a charger? Sometimes a hard reset could solve the problem.
hey, thanks for responding. this is very frustrating. even with my old battery, while being plugged in, my phone was still turning off. for some reason with the new battery and phone plugged in i could actually move around on the home screen without it turning off but when i hit the start menu nothing would happen (i was trying to do a start>accessories>clear storage). and somehow i finally got the hold 2 soft keys and hit the power button to work. now im reset and all appears to be working now although im a little scared to add programs. i really appreciate the response. it gave me the encouragement to keep at it when i was about ready to give up.

Good to hear everything working our for you. You could always try to add one program as a time to see how your phone would react to it. Yes, sometimes it takes more than one try to get your phone working right.
Again, good luck
ok, after i got everything working again i updated my tmobile rom to the latest version and of course the next day i was having the same problem. the phone just shuts off. is there something physically wrong with the phone? i cant figure this out. should i try an older rom? i dont know what to try next. any help would be appreciated.

Read above for the solution.
ALWAYS do a hard reset if you up- or downgrade the ROM.
just completed the hard reset with the phone plugged in, i pushed a button and it turned off....
Okay I'm having a problem with my TP2.
I've had it about 6 months now and had no problems until now. Earlier my battery died and now when I turn it on (after it being plugged it) It says Touch Pro 2 then just reboots. Does anyone have any idea whats wrong with it? I've tried taking out the battery leaving it a while and putting it back and i've tried taking out the memory card. Still nothing? Any ideas please?!
Thanks, Chris

While Powered off Hold Down the send, end and power button for about three seconds....Push volume up and it will restore to factory. You will lose all info.
I just tried that, it flashed on the screen with 3 colours and then it rebooted. :S Is my battery fried or something?
Thanks for the help

Make sure its charged and try again. after you hold down the keys it will propt you to push volume up to reboot. If it just keeps dying for no reason your battery could be shot, but could be a issue with the phone itself.
Okay thanks
I just tested something... When I've been testing this it has been plugged in. When I unplug it, it wont turn on at all, this is giving me the idea of a dead battery? Should I buy a new one? And whats the best battery to buy because I've looked and theres all these differen mAh ones?
Thanks
Have to found a solution/cause to your problem. My tp2 is constantly rebooting since morning. It wont event do a hard reset.
I had this issue (continuously rebooting) this weekend. I couldn't even get it to hard reset. Had to pull the battery out just so it wouldn't drain. I finally called Verizon for assistance. We did finally get it to hard reset (as described in previous post). They advised that if it happens again to call back and they'll replace it. Still don't know what caused it, and I'm ganna cry if I have to hard reset again! I suggest you call your carrier. If you're battery is already fried, they should replace it (after only 6 months).
I've had my TP2 (Rhod500 running Windows 6.5) for about four months. I've had intermittent issues with it restarting randomly, freezing, etc., but this was my first major issue. I really dislike this phone!
Ok, this is a slightly weird but VERY annoying issue..
Today I stopped being able to turn my TP2 on from standby.
What actually happens is when I push the power button, the phone activates, but the screen remains blank.
Pushing the volume buttons turns it up and down ( I can hear the tones)
Hang up and other buttons work ok.
The soft rest button does nothing.
Pulling out the battery restarts the phone, and the screen then works fine. Power button can then be used to turn the screen off, but will not turn it back on again
So long as I then keep the phone awake, all is well, as soon as it sleeps, I am back to the same situation.
Problem number 3 is that the Charging LED is no longer lighting up, but the phone is charging as normal.
I have hard reset the phone, and also flashed the latest WWE ROM from HTC, to no effect.
Charging LED is off even when the phone is shut down.
errrm...
Any ideas???

OMG, i am having the EXACT same issue. powerbutton will sleep phone but not initiate the screen to turn back on, openeing keyboard lights up the keys, closing lights up the buttons under the screen. Ive also hard reset etc.
Any help!?!?
I'm gonna try task29 and see what happens, could that be what caused it? Thats the only new thing ive donw
hmm, also noticed that when booting android, i get an error message: Something used micropkit_lcd_ctrl. This function should no longer be used.
Since the problem deals with the screen/sleep could this be a hint?
BTW: task29 doesnt help at all =[ cant anyone help?
Are you using Windows Mobile or Android?
Hard reset and see if the problem goes away.
running windows mobile and android. Cant boot into android because I receive that error message previously stated... Hard reseting doesnt help =[
Running WM, and I've done 2 hard resets and a ROM flash.
Interestingly enough, the last thing I did before having problems was to run up and play with the latest version of Android, using the cab install version.
Is there some code for that (perhaps used for the power button to intercept the press) that could be remaining in rom after the reset???
Clutching at straws here...
Ok, found this at the end of the Android thread:

this pretty much solves it - mines' also working now
Note: Flashing hard spl seems to have fixed mine too!
Hmm... could this HSPL also cause a problem with not connecting the device to PC? (device is not reckognized)
Hard SPL Reflash
Hey there, did you just reflash Hard SPL and evertything was fine? or did you hard reset and reflash your ROM also after reinstalling Hard SPL?
Thanks!
Michael

I just booted up into my current rom(firestorm) and didnt let it sleep, plugged it in and flashed hard-spl, and it works now!! So dont hard-reset, just flash over your current rom.
Hmmmmm...
Just out of interest (as I'm always updating and playing with android) which version screwed with the phone?
Although it seems to be resolved, I'd rather not have to go though the bother of re-installing HSPL
I was using the cab install version
Project Android 031710v2.cab
Just to note further, before using it I had not installed Hard SPL, nor had I flashed my TP2 to any official ROMS
Hi there, this is my first post, i didnt want it to be like this but i have come to you in desperation.
I was excited about 4 hours ago to realise my phone was getting an update saying it was going to imporve battery life etc..
Well i let it do its thing while it was downloading, i went to check after an hour or so and it said the software had been corrupted or something along those lines, either way it had to start the download again.
It was about bed time when this happened so i chucked it on the charger, fell asleep, woke up and it was doing something on a kind of screen i had never seen before, black screen, obviously showing that it is processing the update(i was a little tired from waking up) i think i remember taking its time maybe longer than it should have been.
I went back to sleep woke up about an hour ago from now and checked my phone and the screen would not turn on, i think the charger cable had fallen out from the phone because it is loose and does that some times.
So i placed the cord back in and it didnt seem to respond with the red led coming up for a while then all of a sudden it worked for some reason, but was flashing. i suspected this was because the battery had been sucked dry. So after a while the led stopped flashing and i pressed the power button, sure enough it powers up straight away to the HTC - quietly brilliant screen. And thats that, end of story. It's stuck on that screen WTF?
I have been through forums like these interested in changing ROMs and so on but it all seems so complicated i never even bothered, so obviously i am a noob, but i dont think there is any reason for this to happen other than sh*t luck.
Can anyone help us out?
Your better off sending for repair unless you want to start unlocking the bootloader etc.
Reboot your phone in bootloader ( press PowerButton + Volume down at the same time) you will get to a screen with various lines, look factory reset, navigate that menu with your volume keys. Hit factory reset you should get . See if it fixes it.

Well did it work? before you say that long thanks
Thanks for your help, unfortunately, the factory reset didnt work.
What happened when i first did it, the update screen came up like the first time but still ended up freezing on the quietly brilliant screen.
I'd be willing to unlock the bootloader, i really dont want to send the phone away for a third time. Why didnt i get the Galaxy S3!?!?!
I hate to ask, can u point me to the right thread to do that, there seems to be a few but they seem to have different purposes.
Thanks again.

If you wait a day or so, the RUU will be released for your region now that the OTA has been released.
You'll be able to fully reload your phone - this is all HTC do when you send it for repairs and you can do it in a lot less time.
At the moment, HTC may even reload the 2.17 software so you may still have the problem again when trying to load the OTA.
Thanks all for your interest.
I spoke with customer support and they told me exactly what i already had done, factory reset through hboot.
After that was a no go, he told me i have to send it back to the point of sale, so they can flash the software?
Where can i find this ruu once it has been released?
I'm pretty sure the updates all say to not have the phone plugged in when updating.
