hello i just downloaded the radio 3.42 file now what how do i upgrade the radio version
READ, READ, & READ SOME MORE!!!!! What are you trying to accomplish by flashing a new radio? Are you trying to get GPS? I am not sure what file you downloaded but you should just be able to run it from you computer. You will have to establish an activesync connection first though.

First off i have been looking for about a day now as to how to change the radio, i found people changing back from stock but i think i have a different issue. the camcorder and gps along with a few other things do not work and i think it is because i have an old radio installed.
What i have now is the virtous rom, s-off, rooted(obviously) , clockwork mod, and the current radio is 1.00.03.04.06. the old non 2.x radio is what i belive to be the problem (please correct me if im wrong) so if someone could point me to a guide on how to upgrade just the radio id appreciate it.
P.S. i saw somewhere that i must unroot before a radio can be applied but that doesnt make much sense to me.
You rename the file pb31img and then boot in to hboot. Hboot will identify the file as a radio and you press vol up to install.
You must have soff to do this.

As the Radio 32.54.00.32U... is causing many trouble, like dropped calls, no wifi etc. with my RCMixHD 3.0 ROM, i am trying to downgrade the radio to 32.49.00.32U, which seems to cause less trouble. But everytime I start the process I end up having the same Rom, probably due to a downgrade protection.
What can I do to get rid of 32.54??
Thank you very much!
Hi,
I was having the same problems. I was given this advice:
1) Full wipe
2) Re-install rom
3) Downgrade Radio to Rom's recommended.
Worked for me I'm using .44 (can't remember all of the numbers)
Thanks for your answer
I would really like to downgrade the radio, but I don't know how, as every time I do it (using Android Flasher on my s-off desire) and check the version after the restart in settings/software, I see that it is still 32.54....
1. You don't need to wipe when flashing a radio
2. Get the radio you wish to use here and flash it like you would a new ROM:

This time I tried to do it in Amon RA Recovery, as it didn't work with clockwork.. and it worked...
Thanks for your help!
Right please forgive my noobishness (is this even a word?) but Im really worried about flashing my phone for the first time.
I have partitioned my card, titanium backed up and created a nandroid back up now all thats left is flashing.
Im planning to flash this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768703
What I am worried about is bricking it without lack of knowledge of radio files and how to properly do it. Something about GSM and CDMA?
Plus I saw in the thread this: "Use either Amon RA or clockworkmod Recovery < also available via rom manager from the market"
Why do I need to use them?
Help please preferably with a step-to-step guide?
Thanks in advance.

Do I need to switch S-off?
Do I need to flash the radio files and what is the difference if I do or not?
Plus should I use ROM Manager to install the new ROM?
Wait just noticed my current baseband version is one you can download from the Leedroid site, so does that mean I dont have to flash a radio file?
you never MUST flash radios, it is only a possibility
my advice, since you are obviously new to this, dont change radio, i used the radio that came with the phone since december and it worked OK.
usually you should consider upgrading your radio if it doesnt work well e.g. bad reception, data or wifi problems etc.
when you are more confident with flashing, go S-OFF (which is super easy, seriously) and learn to use FASTBOOT which is the safest method of flashing radios or recoveries
Hiya im about to flash on a custom ROM for my HD but it says :
Recommended Radio...
Im new to the desire hd so im not sure what a radio is, and how to put it on, im looking for a quick explanation on what it does and how to put it on my phone...
Im used to installing roms on my streak but never came across the term radio before (lol my first instinct was for the FM radio)...
I ran a quick search of the forums but nothing definitive...
Radio is basicly the software that makes your GSM, data and GPS signal work. And the developers usually recommend a radio to use with the spesific rom. It's not necessary and you can use your original radio, but you will most proberly get a better signal if you go with the radio recommended by the developer of the rom.
You will need eng s-off in order to flash the rom correct, so I will suggest you read your self up on that topic before you proceed. As far as I have understood it this is the most critical part of the procedure, so make sure you read the descriptions well untill you are sure that you got all the details.
I found this tread very usefull when I started to try and figure out what to do, but you will also find some even more detailed descriptions if you try to google the subject.

I'm currently using the latest RCMix3D version 3.0, which is perfect.
But when making and receiving calls i'm experiencing TERRIBLE echo/repeat noise.
I've just had a look into flashing a new radio, but i've never changed my radio.
Do i have to have the android/google drivers installed to perform the radio flash??
I'm currently running windows 7, please could someone provide me with a download link for the correct android sdk to download? As Ive tried multiple times but I keep failing.
Which radio should I be using??
Thanks for the help friends, sorry for the questions, I just not very confident with development at the moment.

Follow the links in my sig.
As long as you have the Dhd's usb drivers installed, there is no need to download the whole sdk.
It may be in the links, but if not, just search the forum. There are some very good flashing tools.
Personally I use AndroidFlasher 1.8
