I installed NFSFAN's Sprint WM 6.1 ROM with Manilla 2d. The ROM is awesome and works perfectly for me, but i noticed one thing. On the Stock Sprint WM 6.1 ROM, I would record my videos in MJPEG and play them with WMP, but in this ROM I can't play them.
I posted this in the original thread for the ROM, but no one seemed to respond. I just thought I would make a thread, in case others are wondering as well. This is a pretty useful thing, because the Touch doesn't have very good video recording in any other format. It's just a tad annoying to not be able to play back videos you record. So, I wonder how the codec didn't make it into NFSFAN's ROM. Anyone have any ideas? Could there be a way to rip the codec out of the stock ROM?
Your easiest solution would probably be just to associate mjpeg to tcpmp, thats what i did So it will automatically play in there and not the htc player or wmp. I am also on NFSFAN's Sprint WM 6.1 ROM...
Oooh, i guess that could be an alternative. Wish there was some way to get that codec, though. I tried Tcpmp .72RC1 and it gives me an error when i install it. Sigh... Any help on THAT?

Use the newer version of TCPMP .72RC3 from this thread...

Thank you very much! It works now.
Also to note, that the You need to activate GDI mode to view MJPEG videos properly on the Touch.

Guys - what is the easiest way to convert DVDs to watch on Desire? Is there any good free tools out there and what format/settings should be used for best pic?
I got the AnyVideoConverter, but as far as I can see it only does in 640x480 format... please advice a newbie! Thanks!
HTC Touch HD Video Convertor v1.2 allows you to covert output res of 800x480, i haven't tried it yet but I already read someone tried it and work great for HTC desire.
Is conversion necessary? Can the Desire play .vob files right out of the box or with some app? That is, unless space is a major concern...
(I don't actually know the answers to those questions, mind. Just wondering.)
I was wondering the same thing. Any links to the best software for converting?
MP4 For HD works perfect and it's really fast. You can find it here:

Anyone know if it has a DiVX compatible player? It'd be a total pain to convert all my vids...
You could always try the Videora Android Converter. I use the Videora iPod Classic Converter for my.. well, for my iPod Classic. And it works like a charm!

Doesn't appear too, was rumoured the phone would be updated to support it though.
Personally i use badaboom, GPU encoding is much better then CPU. Doesnt do 800x480 but 720x480 is good enough.
Has anyone managed to get any films on or convert films to play on the Desire?? I have the Touch HD encoder (for my HD) which works well, would this work for the Desire???

Hi! I use it and output is great (quality, sync, etc) for Desire
Regards, folgui.
I use doubletwist for converting avi files over onto the phone when syncing.
I use handbrake for my video converting, works very good. The settings I used are somewhere on an other topic about video converting.
Do we have any video playback tweaks?? coz i get lags wen playing in Vplayer/bsplayer/ the normal one, one thing is coz of the HD quality of the video, but is there anyway to play it well?
No one has a reply for this?
