Hi all,
One of the users in our company has locked himself out of his i780 by forgetting the 4-digit PIN he set on the device (not the SIM PIN).
The problem I have is that it is running one of the older ROM's that did not have the hard reset button combination on it so I cannot reset it at all. It also won't enter bootloader mode using the usual combination (although this may be because of the countdown timer on the device not accepting input).
Anyone got any ideas on what I can do next?
Thanks.

I wonder if you can short certain pins on the flash chip to destroy the checksum and thus cause the device to reset itself - this method was used in the LinkSys WRT54G router and some MP3 players..
did you try reflashing the phone with new firmware? might help since the pin is set on operating system level (afaik), the firmware upgrade is done on bootloader level.

But he can't get into the loader mode, so Mirage is a no-go.. I suppose the phone doesent even connect to ActiveSync, hm? If it would then the official HL1/2 updaters are able to reset the phone into the loader mode and flash it
Correct, I cannot get it into bootloader mode because the usual key combo does not work and activesync refuses to recognise the phone until the PIN is entered so I cannot use Mirage or the official updaters!
Looks like I'll have to send it off to Samsung!
Cheers guys.
try contacting them first by phone and see if they can't help out. otherwise you'll have to wait for a looong time
Yeah, I've sent phones to them before, they do take a while.
They say they need them back to take the lock off so looks like it'll take a while!
Moral of this story: Don't forget that damn PIN!

Doesn't it wipe itself after the 50th attempt?
How old is that version? before Nov2007? Can you post the version number? something like "i780XXHA4"

By Omnia this ok
1. type *7465625*638*# to set
2. type your MCC/MNC code (list here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Network_Code), e.g.26003 for Polish ORANGE
3. type your new NCK (12345678), then OK
3. type *#7465625 to check your lock
4. type #7465625*638*# and type your NCK (12345678)
5. enjoy.

Hello,
I have problem - When I turn on my BA and field for PIN entering appears I enter my PIN code and click OK and then it does not go further it just still stuck on PIN entering screen. When I put another Sim Card on my phone wich dont have PIN protection its just No Service I have no idea what is going on, please help me.
Edit: some info: I didint checked it on WM2003 because when I bought phone I instantly installed WM6 because I'm buying and resseling phones and this never happened before. I also upgraded radio to 1.15 but still no changes.
The same occurred to me today, my phone freezed while I was typing an e-mail, so I pushed the reset button. After booting (TNT wm6) and pressing the unlock code, my phone freezed.
Sometimes it allows me to enter my pin (4 digits), sometimes I can only enter one or just nothing.
When I tried with another SIM it worked.. I'm at home now and I tried to boot without a SIM, but it still freezes after the unlock code.
I'm thinking of flashing my phone back to the original firmware to check if that solves the problem. The only problem is that I’ll lose all my messages. I don't care much about the Calendar and contacts, since I sync with exchange..
Anyone has a solution other than flashing a new OS?
Phone model: i-mate K-Jam
jupieee i fixed it i just had to downgrade to wm2003 and then enter unlock code. dont know why it didint worked on wm6 and wm5
probably a flash gone bad. or another GSM/3G Band conflict...
Read my thread about no phone/ no service here... some pointers may help
I know how to do
Just use the stick press the reset hole when the screen is made of four color after you have changed the battery.
Hello,
I have got a big problem with my Asus a10. Somehow, yesterday, when i took it out of my pocket the screen said enter code. I tried entering my pin code and my puk code, both didnt work, the only thing that happened was that it locked my phone. Now everytime i boot up the phone it starts with the enter code screen and it says 1 attempt left. Everytime i try to enter a code it just blockes, takes me to the homescreen and says network locked. The only thing i can do from there is turn off the phone or make emergency calls.
When i reboot, it still says 1 attempt left.
I tried hard resetting the phone by holding both volume keys and the power key, didnt work either.
The strange thing is, it happens also when the sim card is out.
I also tried to update the firmware but you have to enable the usb file transfer mode and i cant enable that because its locked!
Does anyone have any idea or do i have to send the phone to garmin?? The problem with that is that i rooted it and that voids the warranty, and i cant unroot it because i need to enable usb file transfer!
thanks in advance..
Peter
So no one has had this problem before?
Sorry for the shameless bump hehe

have you tried a factory reset from the hboot screen?
Normally the default pin for the phone with be the last 4 of the phone number.

Try to give the wrong answer continuously until the phone is either frozen or locked for several seconds.
After that you should find a Forget Password / Pattern button, press this button and it should bring you to a screen to input your Google account username or password (Gmail account).
This step should bypass or unlock your forgotten security protection on your HTC ONE M7.
I have never used password or pin protection, so I cannot guarantee the results.
I hope that works for you, as I do not know why a factory reset wouldn't, unless it's recognizing the phone by your number and continuing to lock you out even after a hard reset.
I wish you luck! :good:

If you were locked out from the moment you bought it, I would request a refund.
Only way it will get unlocked at this point, is by the person who locked it, sounds like.
It's possible that if it came to you this way, it might even be stolen.
Not what you wanna hear. But that's what I would do.
That's if it did in fact come to you this way.
If not, then you should be able to remember your pin.
Really don't know if there's much that anyone else can suggest.

Because a security lock on a device isn't intended to be simply bypassed by wiping the device.
That would be way too easy for thieves.

If you bought it on ebay then you should contact the seller. If you do not get any help from the seller then open a case against the seller and ebay will help you to resolve the situation. If you receive an item bought on ebay that was not as described then you have options.
The only other thing I would suggest is to go to a verizon store and see if they might have way to bypass the password.
My G4 gives me warning about unlock attempts remaining when using a pattern or knock code (See attached image).
However, it doesn't say that it's going to wipe my device.... so I'm not sure what it's going to do if all the attempts are used. I don't want some idiot to pick up my phone and be able to wipe the device just by messing around with the unlock screen.
Can anyone confirm what happens when all the unlock attempts are used?
Is there any way to disable the unlock attempts limit `feature`?

Why on Earth would you think it wipes the device? It, like most any other phone, has a longer wait period to unlock the device if you incorrectly enter codes in.

On page 41 of the Verizon LG G4 Manual it states:
After 5 unsuccessful attempts to unlock your phone, you're prompted to enter a text phrase to confirm that you're trying to unlock your phone.
You have 10 opportunities to enter your unlock sequence. After 10 unsuccessful attempts, your phone will automatically perform a factory data reset and all of your
personal files will be erased. You will be warned after the 9th unsuccessful attempt.
If you've set a Knock Code, after 6 unsuccessful attempts, you're prompted to enter your Backup PIN to unlock your phone.

My Mom's Galaxy S5 for Verizon wipes the phone after 10 unlock attempts by default but has an option to turn it off (she discovered this the hard way when she wiped her phone because she couldn't remember her pattern).
Also, I know that the HTC One M8 does this.
Thankyou woozzy101 for finding that information, its very helpful. Now I just need to find a way to disable this idiotic 'feature'.
I just tested using an invalid Knock Code 5x times to make it use the backup pin... However when entering the backup pin it doesn't tell me that there are 'x attempts remaining' , but I only attempted to enter my backup pin once (and did it correctly) as I'm afraid of wiping my device by testing entering invalid backup pins. Is anyone brave/crazy enough to test what happens if you use all of your invalid knock code attempts then enter the backup pin incorrectly multiple times? I want to know if this will result in wiping the device... if it doesn't then I'll be using this unlock method instead of the pattern.
Also, does anyone know if this 'feature' is something that is part of Android, or a custom addition by LG or Verizon?

I downloaded the G4 manual from Verizon to familiarize myself with the phone before I got it. When I read about the factory reset I was like, ruh-roh, that is an accident waiting to happen. Way too easy to wipe someones phone messing around with it. Or if you have kids and your kid gets it and plays around with it....
I keep re-reading the Manual and the factory reset falls under "Changing Your Screen Lock". It might only do factory reset if you already have the phone unlocked and in the settings to remove the lock screen? Best Buy wont deliver my phone till June 5th (this Friday) so i cant really test it
On my EU origin H815 at the 10th attempt for a pin it simply tells me to wait 30 seconds just like it did at 5 attempts. At 15 attempts you get this;

After the 20th you get this;

Hello everyone. I have an lg g3. It's the International d 855 model. I have a pin code set up on it but i forgot the code and I'm guessing because it is an international model, itit not giving me the option to hit forget my password and reset it through my Google account like most androids have. I tried to use the hardware keys to do a hard factory reset as I saw online but it didn't work. Instead of allowing me to go into recovery mode or giving me the factory reset option, the phone simply went into safe mode. I tried to do different combinations of pin codes but I gave up after trying at least 200 different ones. Is there another way to bypass the pin lock screen and do a factory reset? Any help would be great. Thanks.

I'm always cautious of people who join Xda just to ask to unlock their phones because of a "forgotten pin" but hey it's common knowledge so what you need to do is go into download mode mode and flash a new stock firmware look here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089 <<.
Whats the use of a pinlock code if it's so easy to bypass it,flash stock rom if you nicked an LG G3 and ready to go ?(nicked as example ofcourse)
Lol touche it is so easy to bypass bit thats cool cause u can nick mine and as soon as i know its gone ill remotely wipe it myself and turn on the gps plus lg built the kill switch on these phones
