O2 Exec radio questions - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Hi to all,
I have recently gotten an O2 Exec (Universal) and would like to know about the radio upgrade or a pointer to info on it-
1. Is the radio to do with the telephone/ 3G aspect?
2. Will an upgrade make connections faster?
3. Is a radio upgrade necessary before upgrading ROM or is it included in ROM upgrade?
I think Tomal's latest is what I'll go for.
Many thanks

1. yes
2. don´t think so
3. in some ROM´s is included in other no but if you choose one with out the radio upgrade it´s ok, as you´ll keep the radio you had before flashing

Many thanks TLO (and others on wiki) for making this easy for the rest of us. Very much appreciated!! One question. If I use this upgrade on my xda2s, can I still apply a future O2 ROM upgrade without having to change the device ID again..?
Many Thanks!!
Chris
With the new maUpgradeUT_noID.exe file, any Blue Angel rom goes on any Blue Angel device, regardless of which specific model it was designed to be used on.
Therefore, if future O2 upgrades give you trouble (which I am 99% sure they won't) you can just use the same method you used to upgrade to 1.40 to upgrade to the new O2 rom.
I just upgraded my O2 XDA 2s with the 1.40 ROM from iMate -- it's working great ! Many thanks !

Overhaul XDA2i - Any suggestions ?

Hi Guys !
I've been going through this forum since I got my XDA2i a couple of months ago. I have the following config :
ROM 1.10.00WWE
ROM Date 12/24/2004
Radio Version 1.00.00
Protocol Version 1337.39
ExtROM Version 1.10.124 WWE
Model No PH10C
I wanted to know if there is a possibility of better versions of these, even if they are of other models/manufacturers, to be put together on 1 XDA2i and make it work like one helluva machine ?
Can you recommend / attach the files to this question and tell me a little more about it as I am a non techie !
cheers
Prattz
you can get the new rom version off the o2 website .just follow the links
My extrom is blank should there be something there ?- it seems to work ok.
Guys,
Thanks for the inputs, the reason I have put the question up is that I have seen people having higher versions of the various stuff. They've got ROm from somewhere and Radio stack from somewhere else etc.
1. I wanted to use your expertise in creating an all powerful tool.
2. Add Blackberry functionality as was advertised earlier by O2, what
a let down now that they've removed all mentions of the blackberry.
Would really appreciate help in this regard.
cheers
Prattz
There are two upgrades i know of ... one is the new I-mate upgrade, which came before the O2 one and has a newer Radio version .
BUT
the newest upgrade is the O2 upgrade, even though it doesnt have an upgraded radio.
A solution is to use the Rom "pug" posted, which uses the O2 upgrade but also includes the i-mate radio version.
You get the latest, and best of each so .... heres the link ... ftp://xdaupload:[email protected] XDA_IIi_Upgrade_v1.11.162 Radio_1.3.rar
I suggest you read through this 3 page thread first though as it will give you all the advice you need.

hmmm, im not sure, cant remember but i think that settings will be saved!
I have a Jasjar, which was running:
ROM version 1.13.53 WWE
Radio version 1.03.01
ExtROM version 1.13.137 WWE
I ran the radio-only upgrade, which errored the first time but ran without problem the second time. After a soft reset, I now have:
ROM version 1.13.53 WWE
Radio version 1.04.02
ExtROM version 1.13.137 WWE
All my settings/hacks were retained and no information was lost. The radio appears to be stable.
Hi, Sorry... im posting a newbie question... please ignore if "beneath" you...
Im confused on the "radio" upgrade thing. I mean, is this really the radio that we know of (FM/AM)? Why the need for upgrade? How do i make the radio work then?
Laugh all you want, read all your posts and i still dont get it.
The "radio" portion of the Jasjar is the phone/gprs componentry. The rest of the Jasjar is the PDA componentry. Because, theoretically at least, WM5 products can be PDA-only and because the radio portion of WM5 products can vary widely (differing standards for various parts of the world), the firmware is released in two parts: the base operating system for the PDA and the radio subsystem addition for the phone/gprs functions. This explanation is somewhat broad, and not 100% accurate, but hopefully provides some clarification.
can i use this to update my orange spv m5000? or is there another version for it..\
cheers
ok i've tried several times now and its not working.....
its not working for my spv m5000 either

Thanks for the explanation.. that was tech101 for me I get it now.. It's the "phone" part then.. upgrading the radio might have something to do with connecting wifi, bt etc... and i really though i could tune in to my favorite radio station.. haha
Thanks a heap!

You are welcome. BTW, something like this http://www.dealsonic.com/csdsedifmstr.html would add AM-FM capability to a Jasjar if WM5 drivers are available. Note though that it would seriously truncate battery life.
FYI, the SD-Radio is the older model.
Take a look at the sleeker SD-Radio2...

Benefit of Radio 1.04 over 1.03?
Just got my i-mate jasjar. Wondering about upgrades but it seems to work and if it aint broke, dont fix it!!
For those who have flashed from 1.03 to 1.04, what improvements were there?
Thanx
I just updated my 1.03.00 to 1.04.10 on my Qtek 9000
The biggest improvement is the time from hitting the 'pick-up' button to the connection being established. On the older version, this took about 5-7 seconds.... on new version, this happens instantly.
Maybe it's just me, but i think the sound quality of the phonecall is improved too.
Post deleted as I managed to upgrade the radio stack successfully to 1.04.10
cheers guys

WM6 in Australia on Optus Help please.

hey all,
First post so bare with me if little vague.
Will the LVSW_Trinity_WM6_v2.0.1.1 work in Aust with Optus or will i have to configure manually?
Also does that rom include GPS?
IF so is it just a simple plug in D810 run active sync and then run a .exe?
Also does the D810 have a radio? i have seen speculation that it does, but haven't been able to confirm.
thanks for your help.
Cheers
Hey Dan,
feel free to ask questions ass you need on the forums, but best form is to read first - do some searches and if you can't find the info you're looking for ask ask ask Your phone will work on your network with this ROM. The ROM does include GPS. Radio - unsure about this - but the radio wouldn't be supported by this ROM - and if you haven't got radio functionality already - probably not.
It would be a good idea for your first ROM upgrade to try an official DOPOD ROM Find ROMS here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Trinity_Upgrades Get an Activesync connection then run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe in the extracted ROM file. For cooked ROMS (They don't have the same CID as your phone) you need a CID unlocker. You can either run a temporary fix to hide you CID before flashing - or do it permanently (Safer).
Have a good read around the forum - but once you get going you won't regret your adventure.

OK - which RADIO do you have? - this is not clear.
You should try - Hard reset - install tomtom6.03 start up tomtom - sometimes for say 30s tomtom can say no GPS device - before the message changes to waiting for a valid GPS signal. Be patient.
Also search for "no GPS Trinity" here: http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all
you should find others with the same experience as you!
Good luck.
hi,
i have read in this forum, that any Radio ROM ending in 1 have GPS enable, so you must wait a litle time (1-2minutes) before your GPS program fix the GPS signal.
i installed it with trinity info guide and used this radio version 1.46.00.11. but my device information show radio version to be 1.16.00.00 and ROM version 2.0.8.2. should i flash it with another radion 1.46.00.11 GPS available on this forum? Pl help. sorry for double post, i was really confused where to put it and was really desperate for my GPS. i will be careful next time. thanks for your reply. i am trying other options

hey! We have exactly same problem! the radio also show 1.16.00.00 on mine!
Upgrade your radio then it should work! had a friend who had also a very old version. He got's it fixed with upgrade!
i have already replied you in the other thread where you posted this issue.. there's no need to double post this. I've posted the link to hard-spl 1.20
you need to use hard-spl 1.20 olipro to install your radio, 1.30 has resulted in radios not being flashed even though you follow all the steps.. there is a note about this in the guide if you read it carefully.
Flashed With Olipro 1.20
RACERX i have flashed it with olipro 1.20 but still it shows no GPS device? even after 20 minutes of keeping tomtom on. should i upgrade rom to 1.40 GPS, i saw one on this forum. although i have downloaded it but it ROM update utility shows pretty strange words on its menu!!! what next
what radio do you currently have
The problem is clearly that you radio ROM is not up to date - and that it why you don't have GPS.
hi buddy! I got it solved!!! Yes it's the problem of the radio, and seems that if your hard SPL version is 1.30, you are not able to flash the radio. everytime it seemed works but after flash the radio just remain the same.
read this thread,http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1483529#post1483529
there is a radio ROM with hard SPL which flashs the hard SPL first then the radio. I succesfully found the device and got GPS working yesterday!

No - reading is out of the question. What you have to do (especially if you are new) is just create a new thread - or if not post the same question in as many threads as you can find that are half relevant.
(This of course is cynical sarcasm. Please - do not do the above. I implore you all to READ - as you will find the answers. Also - when you find an answer to your question - try thanking the person who brought you the answer - instead of pretending that you found something new out)
Probably radio version 1.46.00.11
i flashed using trinity info guide and used radio version 1.46.00.11. but my device information show radio version to be 1.16.00.00 and ROM version 2.0.8.2. should i flash it with another radion "1.46.00.11 GPS" (but RUU shows strange wording on the menu when i launched it but didn't install it cause i wanted a go from u) available on this forum?
my goodness... it says on the bottom of the guide in BRIGHT RED FONT "If you have followed these steps, but your radio has not been upgraded, please install Olipro's Hard-SPL version 1.20 found here using SSPL (do not enter bootloader manually) and try to flash your radio again. After doing so, it is recommended that you flash Hard-SPL 1.30 again."
i've now posted this info in the million noob threads as well... seriously ppl..
Thank You Very Much
RACERX you are the MAN, you really are an expert. Now my GPS device is working but searching for the signals as i am in Pakistan these days. Know of any south asian (pakistan or saudi arabia) maps available.
Besides tomtom, which one is the best GPS navigator? And if possible can u tell me where i can find information regarding using my laptops net connection for my PDA? i am an old user of computers (since 1991) but a newbee in the world of pocket pc, and its because of you that i could change completely my SFR s300+ into an english windows mobile 6. I will donate something for you man. I read many threads carefully but was wondering around untill you pulled me outg of this trouble.
Again THANK YOU VERY MUCH
glad it helped.. i'm not familiar with which map programs support pakistan. I use MapKing for Singapore where i am, and love it ... i don't see a pakistan map, but you can check http://www.mapking.com/en/MK10/MK10_Dowload_Eng.htm#Malaysia Tom Tom seems to be quite popular, but again i don't know what countries it supports. Maybe you could try garmin or something? I know that they at least support thailand and such.
about your net connection, you basically want to use your trinity as a bluetooth modem? I've never done it, actually, but i think there are some threads on it if you search around. sorry i can't be more help. let me know if you get stuck
Thanks Again
I really appreciate for your timely and valuable response.
