Hi,
I've found a tool called awizard. It can dump the rom from an artemis. Is there another tool like awizard able to dump ALL the ram in raw mode without taking care about the os structure ? At the end I want to get one big file on my PC to be able to dig in it to retrieve some file headers by myself.
Thanks

Hi all,
once i had proof how much MB the windows folder swallows, i wants to delete some unused files from it.
i.e. some sample movies i don't need....
BUT i cant if they are in ROM (TotalCommander>File Properties>"inRom" is set)
Is there a chance to dump them?
why?
the files in windows dir are in the part of the ROM! not ram
that you cant access apart from when you flash a rom on the device
if you could delete it it would not give you any more ram
or any more storage what so ever
it's kinda like trying to remove parts of ones pc's bios really
it dont serve any purpos
ah ok, thanks
i had fantasies about getting more storage memory
ok...

Hello.
I have with rom image. Now I want change some files.
How can I extract files to edit resources ?
I download resoures using TestWM5 from SGH-i600 and some files dosen't have.
example: bbres.dll.
I wrote program in C# to read file to memory using MemoryStream, when
i want read file i have error : UnauthorizedAccessException - it's problem with privileges?
if the system you wanna dump is WM5.0, it's a easy work. Use grab_it or other util to dump the rom to raw BIN image file, then take IMGFS_TOOLS to extract files.
Hi guys,
I'd like to modify a file from the windows folder.
I tried with TotalCommander and as the file is on the ROM, it says unable to delete/replace file
Is there a way to modify or replace this file ? I heard about making a cab file to replace the file but some help would be great
Thanks for your help
There is no way to delete or modify these files.
What you can do is copy your own file with the same name over it. The copy will actually reside in your storage memory and the system will use it until deleted or until you hard reset.
Note that if you want to replace system files on WM 5 / 6 you will need to sign them.
I think it would be better if you tell us what exactly you are trying to do as there may be a simpler way or an existing solution.
It's solved I tried with another rom and it works, I can replace the file.
I am having trouble copying the dll files from my Windows directory on my Dash. I have used Total Commander and Windows Explorer. It says access denied. I can copy some dll files such as the bronzeres.dll. But I cannot seem to get the others. I have tried to make them unhidden (Visible). I have rebooted my phone and pc, just in case there was something weird going on with either. I am stuck. The whole reason I am wanting these is to see how they operate. I have been able to alter my homescreen xml code to insert Fizz Weather into the iconbar, but would like to attempt at adding plugins such as Fizz Weather to the actual panels instead of just a panel with a link to start Fizz Weather. I would really appreciate any help with this. I am really at a stand still at this point.
Those files are XIP (execute in place) they arent real files, they are in a weird format optimised for running fast, although they display in explorer you cant copy them. However you can overwrite them with replacements and the original XIP versions are hidden from applications.
To retrieve these XIP dlls to your PC you need to dump the ROM and reconstruct the files. Its pretty easy there are loads of guides on the Wiki.
Follow this first:

Then second to extract the files:

here you go heres cmhome.dll

I tried to dump this ROM but I'm not getting very far. The 1st link you gave is for the Hermes and does not appear to be the same as the excalibur. I cannot seem to dump the raw files needed to dump the rom. Any help??
Hi all
I'm absolutely bored with deleting all the stuff that will apear in RAM everytime I make hard reset so I've decided to modifi rom to remove it.
Because I'm noob in editing rom I've made some research and found this:
Oreginal rom update is password protected, so I found another way using MTTY.exe and make dump of rom to SD card. Then I could copy .nbf file from SD card with ntrw2.exe. When I open this .nbf file with hexeditor I can find files what I want remove so it's look I have decripted rom.
With tool called DumpRom it's possible to extract these files from decripted nbf file !!!
But I can't find any tool to edit these files
I allso know how to flash edited rom back to pda but If I make some change in hexeditor flashing ends with checksum error.
So I need help from someone skilled who will help me with editing files and calculating a new checksum.
And isit possible to find rom password If I have decripted and encripted version of .nbf ??
nobody can help?
bump. Someone help
