Verizon XV6900 can go with other providers? - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hello guys I'm new here!
A friends gave to me a Verizion VX6900, but I'm with AT&T, I can make it run with At&T or I can't?
It's work only with Verizion?
There are other providers that also can run it?
Thanks!

It can not work with AT&T.

Ok, and do you know if it can work with Sprint, T-Mobile, Cricket, Virgin...
Thanks.

The xv6900 is a Verizon CDMA phone and can only be used with a CDMA service provider (not a GSM service provider). You could use Google to see which service providers offer CDMA and which offer GSM, none offer both.
To use it on Verizon would only take a call to them to set up a plan. To use it on another CDMA service provider would take a lot of research on this forum. This forum calls that phone the Vogue because that's the name given it by the manufacturer (HTC).

Ok! Wonderful Thanks a lot for your help!

Verizon TP2 on TMobile network?

Hello guys,
I have been reading all I can about the TP2 on different networks and I'm taking the plunge to buy an unlocked TP2. The only problem is that I'm torn between which one I should buy. I have searched all day and havent found the answer.
1) I like the features on the Verizon version but I have a deciding question - Can the Verizon version be used on the TMobile network? That is very important for deciding.
2) What problems am I likely to face using unlocking/HARD SPLing the Verizon version to work with the TMobile network?
I use TMObile at the moment with no intentions of switching carriers.
I would appreciate any positive help. Thanks
No-
VZ is CDMA and TMobile is GSM -
Not compatable
Prubin is right, but not telling the whole story.
A fully unlocked VZW TP2 will let you use a TMO SIM card and you will get GSM calling. Just no 3G on data, only EDGE speeds as the VZW TP2 does not have the proper UMTS bands.
I'm using with both Verizon and prepaid Tmobile (only 1 at a time). You will need to sim unlock as well.
As previous post stated, you lose 3G, only EDGE. Prepaid has no data but I was able to browse t-zones sites just fine. And you'll probably lose Tmobile specific apps.

Can I use my T-Mo TP2 on Verizon?

Is there anything I can do to make my T-Mobile Touch Pro2 usable on Verizon's network?
Root it? Unlock it? Anything?
No, the T-Mobile Touch Pro2 is exclusively GSM, and Verizon's network utilizes CDMA technology. You would need to buy a Verizon Touch Pro2 from Verizon to use Verizon's network.
LOL.
AT&T, T-Mobile = GSM
Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular = CDMA
You CANNOT use a GSM phone on a CDMA network and vice versa.
AT&T to T-Mobile??
Hello,
I just upgraded to HTC Evo and moved to Sprint couple of days ago. I am trying to sell my Touch Pro2 to my friend who has a T-Mobile.
My TP2 is currently running the EneryROM, so I am wondering what I could do to get this phone run on T-Mobile.
We inserted his SIM-Card but unfortunately the phone asked for a code because the network is blocked.
I think I can download the T-Mobile's official ROM for TP2, would that work by itself?
Any suggestions?
Thank you

nope... wont work.. you cant just install a rom on the phone and have it work on another network... The phones themselves have to be compatible.. like was said up there.. gsm phones run on gsm networks.. cdma on cdma... now that said.. arent the touch pro 2's with verizon and sprint world phones so will run on both gsm and cdma?? Although I'm fairly certain even if it is possible to get it to work on the network you want you definatly wont get 3G....
You're better off just selling your phone to someone ON your network... craigslist or ebay can be your best friend... and he's better off buying one made for his network.
Just my two cents!

First of all, don't try to flash the T-Mobile ROM onto your Sprint Rhodium, since that's a great way to brick your device (the ROM is for a GSM device, flashing that to a CDMA/GSM device will brick it). Sprint allows the use of SIM cards for any carriers except US ones, so what you need to do is Security Unlock your Sprint TP2, then flash this special modified radio that will allow for the use of SIM cards from US carriers. Only then can you use your Sprint TP2 on T-Mobile US.
EDIT: Disregard this entire post, I misread it and this probably doesn't apply to the actual situation. My bad...

AFAIK, the TP2s on Verizon are World Phones, but I really doubt that you could go and use a Verizon TP2 on a GSM carrier like AT&T or T-Mo. I would assume Verizon would lock the feature to do that, and that the GSM antenna is more then likely an underpowered or unable to really take advantage of GSM networks (3G/HSDPA, Edge, etc). I think they are only set on on Verizons end to do basic voice and basic features.

Apparently no one is READING your post. You want to take an AT&T Tilt2 and run it on T-Mobile. It will work with the following restrictions:
1. Your phone is network locked to AT&T. You have to either call AT&T and get an unlock code, or buy a code off ebay or one of the forums here. That way the phone will work on a different carrier network.
2. Having unlocked your phone, with a T-Mobile SIM card it will work - but only on the slower Edge speed, NOT 3G. AT&T uses a different 3G technology than T-Mobile.
I would suggest selling it as an AT&T locked phone on ebay.

Thanks Steve
Everyone,
I apologize for the confusion.. I re-read my post and I didn't mention that my Touch Pro 2 is an AT&T phone. (I was an AT&T customer and moved to Sprint). Sorry about that guys..
But thank you everyone especially stevedabi for reading between the lines.. LOL.. He won't buy it but my other co-worker is very interested. Need to sell this thing so I can offset my termination fee from AT&T. haha.

Why not just transfer the entire contract to him WITH the phone.. Then you don't have to pay a cancellation fee... Can they do that here? I know of a few people that did it up in Canada but have never heard of anyone in the states doing it. I'm sure it's got to be possible down here.

Is the EVO network locked? Can i use for CDMA in other country?

hi All!
I am in a big fix and need the right facts here... so please help if you know of it, and are sure about it.
I intend to buy the HTC Evo 4G outright from Sprint, from the HTC US online store, for around $549. Now would like to know if this would be network unlocked?
I need to use this phone in India on CDMA network of the same frequency as the Sprint's, and i know i can use it here without a sim card. Now my only worry is that whether this would be locked to only Sprint network when i pay the full price for it from HTC store?
Thanks a lot!
Without rooting and some modifications, it is locked to the Sprint network. However, if you poke around some of the other forums where people have unlocked CDMA phones (the CDMA Hero comes to mind) you might see what they've done to unlock it to other networks.
I know this is very old post, but help me too. I want to use my htc evo in korea. It is rooted with s-off and I'm wondering if the phone is country locked or locked to sprint network. How can I tell? thx.
You can't unlock a CDMA phone, only GSM can be network unlocked. You can use your Sprint phone only if Sprint has set up an agreement with the country you are going to. But then you'd have to pay Sprint International Roaming rate.
According to this,
http://internationalroaming.sprint.com/IntlCoverage/SearchCountry.do?ECID=vanity:sww
South Korea is listed.

You can if you can do the following:
1. Have a way to activate the EVO in S. Korea with a provider that runs CDMA in 800mhz (create account, and add the EVO's ESN to that account)
2. Have access to a PRL file that gives priority to the CDMA network by the provider in #1, and update the PRL on your EVO with it.
I think #2 is doable, #1 may be difficult unless you know Korean well, or know someone who understands the issues and is willing to help. Also, while Korea has "PCS" bands, but they are not the same as the 1900 mhz PCS bands in the US, I believe they are in the 1700 mhz range, and are not the same as the AWS bands in the US, also in 1700mhz, but also in 2100mhz.
All that maybe fruitless, as you'll only have voice call capability, unless you also know how to program the mobile ip settings to get data working as well.

Unlock Inc for use on Sprint?

I did a search but didn't see any recent information.
I have the Droid Incredible on Verizon, rooted, S-off, custom ROM installed. Is it possible to unlock it and use in on Sprint's network? If so could someone lead me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.
Does sprint use sim cards? If so, than no you cannot.

What you need to do is to flash a sprint prl and have sprint add the ESN to their database.
Flashing prls is the easy part, having sprint add the esn to their database is the "not going to happen" part.
Other methods involve delving into the underground worlds of cloning, e.t.c, which is a no-no around here.

Only AT&T or T-Mobile are GSM in the US but not sure about their policies on activating phones you did not buy from them. I think you also have to unlock the phone from its current carrier. Not sure if you could buy a sim card for Virgin Mobile or other pay-as-you-go providers and use it or not. Not even sure sim cards are available in the US to just put in a phone like they are overseas?
GSM vs. CDMA
The few phones that I know of in the US that are GSM (Sim Card company's) are AT&T, T-Mobile, Nextel, And Boost. The CDMA ones are Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular Virgin Mobile and tracfone straight talk and a couple other pre-pay guys. I do know that in some parts of the US that you can use a straight talk phone on verizon and vice-versa. Sprint and Nextel phones can be used on boost (Nextel if you can get a sim card from boost. ) Tracphone, Net10 and Straight talk are "leach" phones to the best of my knowledge. They use whatever service is around according to a built in code list. Hope this helps! Google is great for this kind of research.

Galaxy S6 Sprint: Change From CDMA to GSM?

S6 Sprint CDMA to GSM
My brother handed me a Sprint S6 that he paid off and said was unlocked by Sprint OTA. He wants to use it with Consumer Cellular or Straightalk GSM service. He also has the unlock code provided by Sprint. Since this is currently on a CDMA network, can it be modified by flashing another rom, to GSM. I know the phone is capable of using both network types but realistically can it be done. If so how ??
Thanks in advance for your expertise
