What's the coolest program or feature you've used on your hd?

You know, like the features you show your friends and they say wow!
For me the G sensor application for using in the car is pretty cool.

I know this isn't specifically an HD program but I love WMWifiRouter.

TF3d Weather and Google Maps with GPS always gets people "ooh-ing" "aah-ing".

Maybe you could say why you like the programs too...

People are stunned when I demonstrate the program.
It's so cool

MusicID and Teeter have impressed the few people I have shown.
For me I like having both Navigon & TomTom on one device (and the fact they load quickly - I had TomTom on my Orbit and I could have walked to my destination by the time it loaded)

My favorite is Astromist.

I will try Pocket GForce now. It's not on the Wiki as programs working on the HD, does it definitely work?

Without any doubt - my all time favourite game - Transport Tycoon Deluxe (http://www.esoftinteractive.com/openttd.html). It runs smoothly and full screen (WVGA) on my Touch HD :-D

in the original thread there's talk about being uninstallable..
do you guys know that problem?

sounds awesome, but i don't like flaws like hard to uninstall...

If you would have read a little further down in the original thread, you'd have seen that to uninstall, you simply run the cab again, let it uninstall the 'old' version, then cancel the new install. Simple as pie

Is it better than SHAZAM or just cheaper to use?

Shazam's music ID work with the touchscreen, previous versions where ported from symbian OS and only worked with the buttons.
MusicID is very cool.

Media Player only ROM???

Hi all, long time lurker here ... so thanks for all of your hard work, has always made my HTC devices far more useful
I would really love to turn my diamond into a media player only as I use a Touch Pro as my main phone now. I know this is perhaps a little counter-intuitive to many of you ... but I was wondering if there would be an easy way to create a ROM that was just a mediaplayer and bluetooth. Disable all gsm/umts hardware to save battery life and perhaps leave wifi and a browser app. I would also love to see the "touch scroll" feature for navigating lists and what not, but before I get too excited with my idea I will let you all sanity check me.

would it not be cheaper ....to buy a thing called a ipod?

4gb on a diamond won't go far

true ... but an ipod I don't already have and I do have a diamond
Also ... I am really not a fan of being forced to use iTunes with an iPod and the other media players are not as shiny as my Diamond
I do understand there may not be a great demmand for this, but if it was easy then I would be a very happy dude.

You can always cook a version with nearly no OEM apps except your media player. As for your phone/gsm/etc support, why cripple the phone? Just turn airplane mode on in your comm manager.

I would still like bluetooth ... and I would love a super light rom that booted nigh on instantly ... I am guessing from the responses so far though that this may not work out as an idea though

Instant booting is not something WM does well...
I guess it might be possible to strip down the SYS as well as the OEM, and leave you with Phone, media player(s) and comm manager, without email/messaging, office, games, terminal services etc...
I have a Diamond arriving on (hopefully) Wednesday, when I get it, I'll try and cook a really light ROM for you!
Just so I know, what media player would you prefer?

thanks l3v5y ... that would be awesome ... I have only every really used the built in mediaplayer. whatever the best/simplest mediaplayer there is that has a decent interface ... just doing a bit of searching now to see what kind of media players are available.
How quick do you reckon you might be able to get the boot time to?
Also if you could leave Opera/allow install of opera that would/could be useful.
A quick browse suggests S2p could be a good choice I am gonna give it a quick try now?

I haven't tried to see how fast I can get boot times on a Diamond. When I get mine I can see.
If you get a list of all the software you want/need, I can try and remove all the rest.

No need of touchflo3d or any other shinyness from HTC at all.
Happy to have wifi and phone removed to help battery life. If they can't be removed or if the two benefits I would like to see won't happen by removing them then please add in Opera.

To the OP: Pocket Player is a great mediaplayer. At least for music, as I haven't tried it with video.

Use CorePlayer for video. x264 decoding...
Like I already mentioned, WIFI and Phone can be turned off via comm manager, so you don't lose any battery anyways...
As for autostart: you can always add a link to \windows\startup\ and your app will autostart, or you can play around with hklm\init, though that would be pointless.

Wow, that has been a phone dream of mine for years. What a good guy!

While comm manager is fine ... I barely made 4 hours of playback on my diamond today (an hour and a bit of A2DP action so not that bad) but I am hopeful that if more is stripped from the ROM then I may get a bit more life out of it.
@WMGuy ... I know ... would be cool
@L3v5y ... I guess a regedit app would be useful for tweaking settings etc.

Once I've played around with my Diamond a bit more I may start a "Custom ROM" service.

I've got the 2.03 ROM now, and I can strip out a lot. I think removing the phone itself probably won't increase batter life much, and removing wifi may make things unstable, but removing the phone skin probably will decrease memory usage and processor load.
S2U2 auto starts anyway, and a short cut to S2P can be made relatively easily so that it autostarts.
What I've currently got on my list of "to keep" (as much of the rest as I can remove will go) is:
S2P
S2U2
S2V
Phone
WiFi
Opera
System files
Bluetooth (A2DP)
Comm manager

cheers l3v5y ... that looks like all I would ever want out of it ... I guess if it is more of an "entertainment" device ROM then sticking Teeter in would be cool too.

Ahem, if you sit down and think about it objectively, you will get maybe 4,5h of listening time. Face the facts - to run a WM6 device you need minimum of 150-180 mAH, now translate it to the capacity of the battery (900 mAh) and in IDEAL condition you will get... exactly this, which is 4 hours give or take.
So, if you are looking for a media player, you should now think about additional cost of extra battery... So, why not do as everybody else, i.e, for nails you use hammer, for wood you use axe, and Diamond is a PDA phone, not a multimedia player (although it can be used occasionally in this mode).
Of course, it's interesting exercise (media only ROM) but that's it. Exercise. You won't get a real player out of it. Sorry. technical limitations of the Diamond design.
Unless you buy extra battery of course... and then Diamond is not so sexy anymore....

all true and fair points ... but I can personally see a benefit ... even if the battery life can't be improved upon, most of my time is at a desk where it can be charging or in the car where it can be charging. I guess I will go the way of a dedicated media player ... but I am one for always seeing the "next big thing" on the horizon and holding out for that, by which time I am hanging on for that, I am also loathe to shell out for one until my entire (90GB) music library can be held on it, happy to "shuffle" to my diamond but if I am gonna have a media player I would like it to hold all my music (and not be an iPod Classic) (akward I know ... but hey)

Just remember that this race never can be won. That is, once a device with 90GB that you like comes out, your library will become 109BG, and what then? It's like with the PC's, phones, etc. There's always something special being prepared which is soooo much better than present designs...
Still, Diamond was not even designed as multimedia player.... hence the battery and capacity limitations (BIGGEST!! fault - lack of memory card slot).

to add to that...listening to music in diamond sucks esp. with the head set that comes with phone by default...
you may like to use it once in a while but cannot be used as ipod/mp3 player replacement

Need Dpad for WVGAFIX3!!!!

Yesterday when playing Warcraft 2 on my HTC Touch HD, I felt a need for a DPAD cuz in big maps the camera is hard to control.
So could someone make a DPAD which is compatible with WVGAFIX3 (Dpad must be shown in the black bottom area)
This could not only be good for this game but then it will open the ability to play FPS on out TOUCH HDs in VGA mode with WVGAFIX3!

Judging by the picture hes posted with his dpad-- hes working on a app which works in normal WVGA screen conditions at the bottom of screen.
But we need a dpad which is shown at the black bootom area of scree, when your screen resolution (with WVGAFIX3) is set to VGA(640X480)!!!!

Just a hint: You could use something like G-Controller to use the G-Sensor as a DPAD... Tilting the HD could scroll around the map!
Don't know, if it would work well... but it's worth a try!

I've looked through search and ive looked at the list of applications on the wiki, which im sorry is terrible.
whats the point in having something called eagleeyes when no one that read that would know what it was?
anyway i'm wanting to know if there is a website like http://www.ipfun.org/ or http://www.iphone-shaq.com/ or http://www.iphonewiki.com.au/iphone-games/
they seem to show all the apps and games and what not for iphone as well as tell you about them and whats their good for or not.
i'm having great difficulty finding the programs i would like.
a good gps that works in australia
a few good games such as texas holdem
a good media player that will play my music videos and movies (coreplayer doesnt work as the picture is all jitty and jumps everywhere)
a what of making the volume button not so sensitive as i seem to press it by accident all the time.
and a good weather app that will work for my town, the ones you go to online have my town in them but the one on the htc touch hd dont have one within 200kms of me.
i'm also sorry if i offend or offended anyone i dont mean to, this site is a great website but it isnt in the slightest user friendly at all.
why cant there just be an XDA HTC TOUCH HD wiki, go in there and then its a whole website on what you need and want for the htc touch hd?

xtrakt ...awesome game for the HD and its a MUST HAVE - Full screen too
Real Dice MC poker to solve your texas holdem cravings.. downside is that it is not full screen but everything else works fine

Pocket Uno ..... Monopoly World .... Resco Brain Games.... Virtual pool Mobile..
These are the games i tested so far and works without any problems....

This hasn't been done as it would take too long. List in wiki at present tells you which apps/games work. Its up to you to find out what they are.
Wiki is available for everyone to amend. If this means so much to you why not amend wiki yourself and create this improved list with descriptions of games etc
I agree that Apple help their customers better and provide information I would think was basic. Hopefully HTC will learn and hopefully improve
Would agree with previous person that Xtrakt was well worth getting on your HD, awesome game as is Need for Speed Undercover!!

well thats a good response from everyone, thankyou very much, ive never ammended wiki or posted on wiki before so ill give it a go and see what i can come up with.

ive now found a fiar few games, what about all the types of games that come on the iphone? like ifishing and the likes. there aqre a lot that use the gyrator type style to play the game. most of the games and apps ive found are real buggy and crash or arnt full screen. it seems that the iphone has better games and easier usage but the htc has more in it as its a windows device. it just seems really hard to get things to work!

just post the games, there are many developers that can fix the bugs andmake them HTC HD READY !

These are the games i have so far that work full screen 15 puzzle, all-in hold em by birdsoft, boom blox, monopoly here and now, pocketgrandmaster 4, resco bubbles, tiger woods 09 by EA sports, need for speed undercover with gsen support and touch support and xtrakt

see i like the games like resco bubbles and teeter
bubble breaker is good to still need to find a good holdem game.

Touch HD Entertainment !!!

Hello guys i have the Touch HD since was out on the market.. the phone is cool BUT everyone from you feel that we just miss something.
We have here good coocked ROM`s we have Many Application that do some changes and etc but we always miss something and that is the Entertainment App.
Everyone from you know that is full with apps for Iphone they are thousend.. and my question is Why nobody even try to make some cool apps for Entertainment Out Blackstones have better Displays and Processor and they are much more good than this IPHONEs
Sometimes you just have need to have some fun with the Phone or to show around something cool.
So lets this treath be for Entertainment Apps for WM and when someone find something over the net or create something to post it here..

The FUN app is this one that clear your display inside we have something similar in the Manila Weather Tab so maybe will be not hard some programer to be able to Make a App like iWash iAmanda or iBlonde they are the same
Also nobody tell that they need to be with bikini girls they can be very diferent than the Iphone
I think is posible our Blackstones to handle apps like this with Animation...
Do you know what i think about this app that clear the window.
This is just some kind of Video Animation and they shoot some Bikini Model and behind the camera and the Model have Glass so the Bikini model wash the glass and dry it.. thats how is made...
And after you play something like this on the phone its looking like the Girl is under your display.
Fr this reason the creator of the app must to make the screen to look like BlackStone screen with that kind of Icons Clock and etc...
So my point is that if someone can port Iphone apps to WM will be perfect we can use the iWash and just to be changet the Backround wallpaper we can use the same Video Animation Girl and etc.
Or its posible the Backround of the Girl to be Full transperant so whatever wallpaper you use for home or no matter what icons you have on the home screen they will be visable and will look like the Girl is under tha glass of your display
