Additional Info
The Kitchen should reside in a folder on your PC. In that folder you need to have the following:

ROM (OS.bn file and the XIP folder)
SYS (collection of operating system folders and an option.xml file)

BuildOS.exe (tool to create package dump, preparing for compilation)
CreateROM.bat (script to automate compiling your image)
pkgcommon.dll (module for BuildOS tool)
Readme.txt (readme for kitchen)

If you've downloaded the latest kitchen parts and have this, you should be ready to go.
1. Run BuildOS.exe
2. Select the packages you want to install.
3. Click the green arrow in the upper left corner.
4. Once it completes without error, it will say "done" in the lower left corner.
5. Close BuildOS.exe
6. Connect your Phone to the USB cable
*NOTE* Back up your phone, and ensure it has more than 50% battery!!
7. Run CreateROM.bat
8. Follow the prompts.
9. Do a hard reset after it finishes.
10. Enjoy!

My DL is now at 65K! am i to assume that this is a fully automated kitchen, with OEM aps included?

Its objective is to give a simple interface to select or deslect packages at will. You can put in as much or as little as you want.

You can add your own packs but only predetermined packs. On the first view its a great tool, thanks to matt for it.
Matt is TouchFlo added here already? or is that at a later date?
quick question about the htc home plugin included, is it the one with 3 tabs or the new one from the kaiser with 5 tabs?
5 tabs would be excellent, also the kaiser has a very nice comm manager with a 3g tab on it!!!

I'm wanting to get to it, but touchflo has been nearly all-dominating lately.
As time goes along and new packages are found/created/made available, I'll add them in. I wasn't aware of the new OS release, and it seems that's a pretty hot item
No worries though, between touchflo, the new os, and the kaizer files, I think there's lots of new stuff coming...

I hope you release TuchFlo ROM with kaiser files but without all those extra apps ( I like big storage to customize with my own apps )... Keep only important ones like Office, Streaming media, MSN Live, ect.. ( thats why I liked JJ`s ROMs )

Shooting for v2.0 because it'll involve major change... As it stands right this second (with only a handful of tests under my belt), the Touch touch.dll causes the phone to hang before loading the third splash screen... gonna be a long night
hehe.. The thing I dont understand is I saw it working FLAWLESSLY on an Artemis and Wizard.. why wouldn't it work on Hermes. Did they get the finger scrolling part of TouchFlo working on Wizard?

This time, I propose to make something focused essentially on speed, stability, memory and storage rather than spending time with aesthetics.
So, inside you'll find basically only the Operating System, with its' basic functionalities. All the rest, you can install by yourself, according to your needs.
It doesn't make sense to fill storage, with applications that you will never need.
Concerning the aesthetics, there are a lot of themes out there...it's just a matter of searching!
I also want to share with you, the best way to make your updates of firmware, as most of the bugs that we find, are the result of a bad-flash. Most of the times, of you re-flash, the bugs disappear.
To avoid this, this is how I flash my roms:
1. Hard Reset your device, pressing OK at the end
2. Before it starts rebooting, make another Hard Reset, but now don't press the OK button. Instead, remove the battery!
3. Wait 1 minute. While you wait, remove the storage card and the SIM card as well
4. Put the battery inside the pda again.
5. Press the buttons Camera + Power + Reset (with the pen, on the bottom of the pda) until you see the screen with color strips
6. Insert usb cable
7. Start flashing the device, as you always do.
8. As soon as it reaches 100% on the screen of the pda, it becomes black for a couple of seconds. Then, make a hard-reset, and press ok.
9. Make another hard reset, but now, but now don't press the OK button. Instead, remove the battery!
10. Wait 1 minute
11. Re-insert the battery, memory card and SIM card
12. With the pen, press the reset button on the bottom of the pda until it starts.
13. Have FUN!!
P.S - I WON'T BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES THAT RESULT ON USING THIS ROM OR FLASHING PROCESS. DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!

For those who loose their WIFI settings after a softreset, please follow these instructions (thank's dta1974):
[!] For prevent password and account dissapearing u should (you should make this procedure immediately after first soft reset ):
1. Set up your connection settings
2. Open IExplorer / Set up Internet connection / Open some internet page
3. Click Disconnect button to close internet connection
4. Hold power button and turn off your phone
5. Power on your phone.
After that procedure your password wont disapear. I think that you should repeat the same for mail account (set up mail account / try to send or recieve your mail / hold disconnect button / turn off your phone)

Using the Auto Installation Feature [optional]
Step 1: Preparing the cabs
---------------------------
- To use the auto installation features, the cabs must be set to "Read Only", must not have any "setup dll", and must have a "hard coded installation path" which means you should not be allowed an option to choose where to install the cabs.
- To set the cabs to a static path, install WinCECab Manager.
- Open a cab with WinCE Cab Manager and click on "CAB Information".
- Double click on "Default Install Dir" then select "Installation Directory" tab and choose "Do not allow user to select installation directory"
- Save the cab then right click on the cab and select "Read Only" and click apply/OK.
- Check if there "Setup dll" is present under Cab Information. If setup dll is present, delete it off.
- Check and prepare all the cabs you want to auto install and place them into the Cabs Folder.
Step 2: Editing the Config.txt file
-----------------------------------
- You will now need to add the file names into the config.txt file.
- Open up Config.txt in "Cabs" folder with Notepad.
- You should see the following content:

- Simply Add the name of the cabs you prepared earlier into this file and click "save".
- Right click on the config.txt file and select Read Only.
Step 3: HARD RESET!

- Auto installation will begin after the Rom completes its configuration

FAQ
Q: What is the difference between this Rom and the Flexi Rom?
A: The Flexi Rom has better customize-ability in the sense that almost every app installed in the rom can be uninstalled from windows. However, there is a speed penalty for the extra flexibility. OTOH, this version of the Rom is the original K's Rom, with enhanced speed and stability. However, most of the apps are cooked-in and cannot be uninstalled from windows like the Flexi Rom.
Q: Hardware keyboard symbols are incorrectly mapped....
A: Default Layout is AT&T 8525's layout. You can change the layout with PHM Registry. Select the Keyboard layout shortcut and change the settings to:

YouTube Package - TCPMP + Flash Video Bundle [Included in cabs folder] - Everything you need to start watching youtube and some other FLV sites. Simply browse to the FULL FLV website (NOT mobile version of those web sites) and watch all the videos you want. Clips can also be downloaded to the phone!
***NOTE: Most FLV websites are fully supported, some are not. Do not expect every single FLV site to work.
Other Hardkey Mapper - If you plan to use other hardkey mapper i.e. spb/AE button plus, you may need to remove PTT Fix and do a soft reset before the other app could work.
HTC Equalizer 1.0.2 - Requires headphone to be plugged in before it can work. There is a bug with headphone equalizer whereby the bottom taskbar may disappear, leaving only the keyboard icon intact. It does not affect the functions, but it is annoying. This bug is found on all headphone equalizer I know out there. Hence....it will not be cooked into the rom but available as a stand alone.
illumsoft Screen Capture v1.1 - This is what I used to take the screenshot, the app icon is seen in one of the pictures but it is not cooked in. When the app is running, Button1 (sms hard key) is mapped to take screenshot. You can also set timer and etc. FREEWARE!

if you would release optionally a cleaner rom (without BT Explorer, Flashlight, VoiceRecorder, WM5torage, SmsBackup, SuperBright, PHM Registry, Internet Sharing, Soft-Reset Shortcut, ArcSoft MMS, AdobePDF, Adobe Reader, FlashLitePlayer, Pocket RAR, StreamingMedia, ...) and provide cabs for those tools then it would be perfect!
The rom is built on NetCF 2.0. I have updated the page with microsoft NetCF 3.5 beta 1 link if you wish to download NetCF 3.5. I will cook it in on the next release.
I didn't plan on releasing a lite rom since there were already so many lite roms out there, but removing those apps is easy so I will likely release a lite rom along with an update shortly.
Schen's 3G kaiser dialer is the only dialer that is 100% bug free from all the kaiser dialer that I've tested. If you use the 2G kaiser dialer, or any dialer directly ported from the elf, there is an issue with missing texts when you enter letters and numbers at the same time into the dialer. Again, I didn't want to use anything that is buggy, this rom has been personally tested thoroughly by me to ensure there is virtually no bugs that'd affect daily usage. Also, I wanted to cook in the video dialer because that'd make life easier for the folks with hermes that support video dialing. For us folks in the NA, it really doesn't matter if the dialer is 3G or 2G just dont use the video button
Also, I strongly recommend people to change the pagepool to 6mb prior to flashing the rom, it is very easy to do so with the pagepool changer.

intriguing, may I ask, what did you use as the base ROM? I've been trying too cook a Kaiser style ROM (with the dialer, com manager, etc. you feature) based on Schaps 4.20 with little succuess, and this ROM seems pretty close (I'm flashing as soon as I can to test it out). Thank you for your work!
i played with it for a bit last night, and this rom seems to actually be gaining me about 5-10 FPS in Pocket GNUBoy (GBC emulator) coming from shamanix's grass 1.3.
seems pretty snappy in other things, but ill keep using it for a couple days.

Initial impressions:
Internet tab does not work for me (but this can be tweaked with M2D customizer I'm told), Utube works, which is a first.
One niggle, the file explorer has gone from start>programs - I've added it to my programs tab but I'm used to finding it in the programs folder!
I like the black... but that makes the multicoloured icons on the upper bar a bit at odds with the theme! [IMHO]

I think this looks like a very promising ROM. May somebody report on battery use? Any chances that you come up with a less lite rom including opal canvas dialer, htc camera 4.0, registry tweaks, advanced config 3.3, CRC's device update and a comm manager with 3G toggle?

OK. I have changed the language.txt file in windows directory, so this problem was solved.
I had to set "AutoswitchHandle" registry value of ACS Services to '0' because I got an error message while started my PDA. (There is not AutosWitch.exe in Windows dir.)
It seems everything is good with this ROM.

1. Copy the language.txt to windows directory, overwrite the existing Russian file.
2. Unzip and import the registry file or set manually this. You have to install a registry editor program for this operation. (E.g. Resco explorer with registry editor pluggin)

Actually I accidentally load the PLK version and found that working great! For WWE, QVGA (28205) is working good as well but it only for 64Mb RAM. WWE VGA (28214) is a bit lag when scrolling, and i found that it drain the battery in a day even if i left it unused. looking forward for your new WWE build ROM. Thanks for all the hard work.
