I've been reading in posts that SPB Pocket Plus might cause a few problems with the IIs.. I actually only use the battery bar and the "close really means close" part of the program..
I'd really like to uninstall it to increase performance, but I need software to reaplce it - anyone got any good suggestions for a battery meter (that is small and runs on the task bar thing) and a "close really means close" program?

Hi all,
I've searched both here and google for a plugin to meet my requirements. I'm after a small footprint battery monitor which will sit either in the today screen section of my Orbit or ideally in the same bar as the start button. I've seen a lot that will work but they either seem to be large footprint or just downright ugly. Is there an elegant solution to this problem?
Cheers in advance,
Ben
*edit* I know the stock O2 software comes with a mini battery icon but I stopped the Orbit from installing all of the O2 software because I found it made the device really slow and unresponsive, so i'm running WM6 stock with the HTC settings for O2 MMS/GPRS installed. *edit*
Battery Monitor
Try Batti - nice little app that sits on top of the Start bar and can be customised to different colours etc.

Thank you! Thats exactly what I'm after, the version notes for the most recent version only specify compatibility up to WM5 though, but i'll give it a go and if it works i'll post back.
Thanks again,
Ben
I can confirm that Batti v2.1 works for WM6 even though it's not listed as being compatible on the Batti site.
One comment, it seems if you have the battery info pane turned on for when you tap the battery indicator icon, the calendar button on the bottom left of your today screen is replaced with a notification button that when you press brings up the battery info pane.
I've not experimented to see if turning of the info pane on icon tap will remove the notification button and restore the calendar button.
Ben
Try this one:
Should work also on WM6.

I found this HTC Diamond Dialer skin at the other XDA section. It is very beautiful and I have tested it on my Hermes MRH ROM. Works well. You can check this out at:

Hey thanks. I just put it on my phone. Looks great.
Nevermind... it killed my battery icon. I removed the dialer and it came back. Guess I have to stay away from this skin.

Just reinstall the battery icon cab. Installing a dialer almost always messes up my batter icon.
I havent been able to find the new 1 incriment battery icon cab of the Diamond ROM.

If you do find it, let me know. I've just changed to CRC's 11.2 ROM with HTC Home, and I like it a lot. I would like a working battery indicator on the toolbar, and I haven't so far been able to find one that works for me.

If you're using my ROM, then you just need to change the registry to enable the battery meter on the toolbar... It will already update it in 1% increments...
the option is TBOpt etc - it's in the Hermes Registry wiki page.

Thank you for that, I'll find out how to do it. I'm guessing I need to install a registry editor, I don't remember one installed by default.
Thank you for your ROM, by the way. Three days in it's looking rock solid, and running everything I want quite quickly. It's nice work.....and sorry to hear of your loss. Not what I'd choose as a splash loading screen, but you're entitled to a little indulgence for your excellent work.
Thanks for the advice. It wasn't my intention to trouble you, I'm sure you have higher things to deal with, than the likes of me.
CRC, if running your rom, and if I installed my AT&T settings cab (which messes with the 3G icon as well.. havent found one that doesnt), will it mess up the 1 percent battery icon in the top bar? will it just make oit revert back to 10 percent intervals?

HTC Home should bring up the battery indicator on the top bar after you re boot. Or am I mis interpreting your question?

I needed to install a registry editor (I used total commander) to add a "TBOpt" string, with a value "1". I then powered down and soft rest the device.
I now seem to have a functioning battery indicator on the top bar (I also turned off the clock, given that I have HTC home with a big clock).
Thank you to you and CRC for your help.

Show Time,Date,both or Battery on top bar at Today screen
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\]
Time:
"ShowTitleBarClock"=1 / "TBOpt"=1
Date:
"ShowTitleBarClock"=1 / "TBOpt"=2
Both:
"ShowTitleBarClock"=1 / "TBOpt"=3
Nothing:
"ShowTitleBarClock"=1 / "TBOpt"=0
Battery:
"ShowTitleBarClock"=0 / "TBOpt"=1
And if you really want to have BOTH Time AND Battery indication on top bar at Today screen, then SPB Pocket Plus 4.0 application can do it for you. It creates its own indication of the battery status on the top bar and it can use the standard symbol from the OS or even better approach of displaying the battery level as a few pixel wide colored bar on the very top.

im not sure if this fixes my problem, ill try to explain
i flashed dvha79_ddt's 19965 diamond rom, which had the 1% battery status increments.. then installed this dialer (which i like the best), and it changed the battery icon. I'm trying to figure out if its possible to revert back to the incremental battery status icon and still keep the dialer, if not im pretty sure if i uninstall it i'll get it back. thanks again

I had the same problem and treid to uninstall the dialer. Remove programs gave an error that it did not uninstall the dialer properly. I rebooted and the incremental battery meter returned, and the dialer was still in place. I know this does not help, but it does show that the meter and the dialer can co-exist. Now only to find out why, or you could experiment with installing and uninstalling the dialpad
I installed the skin also and had the same problem with the battery icon, all I did with schaps advance config is put the time on the top(i usually keep it that way anyway) and ticked show power icon on the bottom tray. Seems to be working for me, just don't have that % indicator.
I have been searching a lot for a solution to enable BOTH the clock and the battery indicator in the title bar the stock ROM for my Sprint Touch Pro wm6.1, but I have had no success. Does anyone know of a good easy registry hack to do this?
Microsoft must be very stupid! Why do they make us choose between either having the clock or the battery (Settings-->System tab-->Clocks and Alarms-->More tab)? Don't they know that we need both? How about an easy way of letting the user choose which icons should be seen on the title bar?
I wish a nice programmer would come up a program to re-design the title bar and the comm manager so that clicking on the title bar would open up a nicer comm manager with big finger friendly toggle switches for all kinds of things or whatever the user wants to be there. I would be glad to donate.
Search for quick menu and bati
quick menu will give you a nicer start menu, and the ability to have both clock and battery on task bar
bati will give you a bar across the top, above the task bar, showing the battery.
you can also try Ariel battery 2.1

The only thing I don't like about it is that if you press over the battery icon, you'll go to the setup page...
I wish there was a separate shortcut for that in start menu... Anyway, it's not a big deal, and after a while you'll get used to it
Quick Menu is very good as well, and I used to use it before, but right now I need just battery app, and quick menu offer bunch of more stuff I don't need..
I hope this is useful

The downside to QuickMenu is loss of Task Manager icon on the title bar. I cannot do without the Task Manager. I have had batti v2.4 (by David Andres), but this program takes up system resources that slows down phone's reboot time. Additionally, batti has to be forced to stay on top of screen to prevent itself from becoming purple (purple is either for re-charging or sleep mode of batti). If I choose the force-on-top option for batti, then it would want to do it when I want to watch full screen SprintTV.

I have known about Ariel battery for a long time, but I don't like to get rid of the MS start menu icon. Again, I don't like to sacrifice one thing for another.
wm6's own battery icon allows you to tap on it to open up the power setting menu, which allow me quickly to un-check the automatic sleep time so that my system does not go into standby mode when I am, for example, using wifi that needs the system to stay awake. The above alternative battery indicators will not have the shortcut to the power management menu of wm6.
There should be an easy hack for the registery to allow both the native battery and clock icons to appear in the title bar. Does anyone know such a hack?

QuickMenu can actually replace Task Manager. It can be set to close apps with a short or long press of the "X" button, or even with the ok key. And running apps will show in the new start menu.
I used to not be able to live without Takks Manager either.

QuickMenu is a wonderful program. It allowed me to have larger icons for better finger scrolling and more functionality for the MS Start icon. After installing it, I was able to re-enable the native HTC Task Manager as you guys said. It also put its own battery icon in the title bar to allow my Sprint Touch Pro to have both the native MS clock and the QuickMenu battery icon on the title bar.
Here is the problem: The QuickMenu battery icon blocks the other icons such as New Email icon and Missed Call icon, both of which appear in the middle of the title bar. Usually, when an icon occupies the leftmost spot of the icon places of the title bar and another icon comes on that wants to occupy that same spot, a balloon icon appears to indicate that there are multiple icons there. And pressing the balloon icon makes all the icons appear in a drop-down menu below the title bar. However, the battery icon of QuickMenu blocks all other icons that appear here including the balloon icon. I like to have the battery icon as well as all the other icons like missed-calls and new-email icons appear in the balloon.
Does anyone have a better solution? I don't understand why no one knows how to manipulate the registry so that both the native clock and the native battery icons of wm6 appear in the title bar. Of if anyone can fix the glitch with the battery icon of Quick menu, I would really appreciate it.
Many people have been coming up with various battery programs to address this battery-clock deficiency in the title bar, so if there is a brave programmer that can solve the problem once and for all, please do so. The Windows Mobile community will appreciate it!
A simple solution for having both clock and battery in title bar of wm6.1
New version of Ariel Battery v2.1 has the ability to be placed anywhere along the title bar of wm6. Unlike other battery applications, it is a simple application that uses very little CPU. It gives you a battery guage and it writes the percent remaining underneath the battery guage. You can adjust the colors of the battery too. It is just like the iPhone's battery icon, but you can customize this one's color and location along the title bar. Just click on the Ariel battery in the title bar of wm6, click tools, setup, and on top of menu find where it says, "Pos:" and use the left-right arrows to move the battery icon anywhere along the title bar you want. I wish Microsoft was smart enough to have included a little app like this in wm6. So thanks to the maker of Ariel Battery, my battery problem is now solved!!!
my proposal
a cool thing would be to have the clock at the title bar every time but on the home screen the battery and NOT the clock since you have a big clock anyway on your desktop. (looks kind of stupid)
So on your TF3D-Homescreen there is the battery on top and in any application there is the clock.
I think it would be enough to have the battery in your home screen only since you go to your homescreen anyway once in a while and your battery won't drop from 90% to 20% while you are in one application.
This would be the perfect solution to me, now we only need someone to fix it :-D
Enable Both Clock & Battery Icons
1. Just install Advance Configuration Tool and QuickMenu.
2. Run Advance Config, on Today option select show Battery, select Done then OK (your phone will restart).
3. Select QuickMenu option then goto View tab, select/enable "Show battery on title" and "Show on all titles" then OK.
Now you have both Battery Icon and Clock and it will show on all application.
It works for my iPAQ 612c and iPAQ6828RW..
for completely different approach check out the application I've done. it completely replaces the taskbar and hides all notification icons from WM. Instead you see in the middle of taskbar the clock, and on left/right are nice indicators for signal strength and battery. Besides that you can launch anything you want when hitting on different areas of the taskbar.
BattClock
I like BattClock.
It makes an overlay over the original Clock or whereever you want to position it on the taskbar.
It can display both the Clock and Battery and other stuff at the overlayed place.

Any suggestions for a stock romer?
what kitchen are you using?

I will try the search for the Battclock, sounds prefect!
I personally use the battery bar app (it always displays a bar accross the top of your screen to represent your batteryb life)
then I go to my clocks and alarms setting and have the menu bar display the time.
this will allow both to be displayed at the same time.

I was using SPB PocketPlus which has an included battery bar, so I set it up the same as you describe. It seems though that Pocketplus (the version I have) doesn't play nicely with wm 6.5 and I end up with wonky problems. I did however install X Button and Battery Bar from SPB Pocketplus at the same time.
I will find that battery bar app.
Thanks!
