How to install cab files on IMATE PDA2K

How do youi nstall CAB FILES on a IMATE PDA2K? I am using windows XP 2nd edition & I tried following IMates instructions but they do not install. There must be a correct way to install them. Thanks for any info.
copy the file from your computer to the imate, then navigate to the file on your imate and click on it.
I did that but it still does not install.
(Assuming on XP)
Start ActiveSync connection up
Goto to "My Computer" on PC
Browse to Storage Card (if you have one)
Browse to Storage (if you don't have storage card)
Copy the CAB Patch file there.
Now on PDA2K bring up File Explorer
Browse to My Device (drop down box at top)
Now Browse to Storage Card (or Storage)
You should see the file you copied.
Click on it.
Reboot manually (soft reset with Stylus) if it does not automatically.

Cab files....

Im pretty new here and just got my BA not tooo long ago...I used to be a trreo user now im hooked on my BA.
I see alot of software that comes in a form of a cab file...does anyone know how I can load that software on my BA? thanks alot!
hey mate and welcome!
if you put the cab file in your pc folder; you'll see that the description is "zip file"....that's because it's the only format microsoft recognizes...in a way its also true as the cab file is a compiled program ready for installation. what you do is DON'T unzip the file in your pc; rather cut/copy and paste it directly in your ba (via activesync or in your sd card). put it in a folder that's easy to find; say "my documents...personal" (or you can make your own folder to put in cab files). use your ba's file explorer and go to the folder...from there double click (via stylus) on the cab file and it will automatically install itself. btw, if you copied the cab file in your sd card you can also execute the installation there....no need to paste it in your my documents area.
if you're using wm2005; upon execution the unit will ask you if you want to install it in the sd card or internal memory....that's really up to you depending on the size of the file you're installing.
hope that helps

thanks alot Robson.
Ive always looked past cab file programs b/c i couldnt install it. I hope this thread helps other newbies too. I searched and couldnt find an answer.
is there anyway that can install cab files direct from pc to ppc?
sorry for the late response; was in china for a week.
unfortunately, no. i don't think there's a way to install cab files via pc. if you do unzip a cab file; you'll notice that the files are something like:
0000124
009890
or something like that....can be as many as 20 lines of code...but scanning through the entire zip will not give you any .exe files which can be executed via pc. if you have a card reader installed on your laptop, simply copy and paste the cab file on your sd and from there install via your ppc
hope that helps

HELP ME!!

ok i have a excalibur and i have wm6 on it and im trying install apps on it it is unlocked but i have no clue what a cab file is or how to install it or how to run it is there anyone that can help me??? [email protected] THANK YOU
Generally, you install the cab file to your PC desktop, hook up your phone to your PC via Activesync, and after the sync operation, click the "Explore" icon in Activesync to open the folder with the contents of your phone, drag the cab file icon from your desktop into the new folder you've opened and it's on your phone. Then click on that program file in "File Explorer" on your phone and it will install onto your phone.
Generally, one posts with a topic that is useful and gives a summary of the problem, not "HELP ME!!"
Thanks
ok i have done that and it still wont install some sights say i need netcf 2.0 and i tried installing it and found out i have netcf 3.5 or something like that?

Solution for SOUND DISORDER and ERRORS after TomTom 6/7 installation on wm5/6/6.1

Problem description:
After installation of TomTom sound just doesn't work at all, sound files can not be found etc., even a registry backup doesn't help at all. There is only 1 reason why! It is because while setup TomTom replaces following ROM files: BtCoreIf.dll and BtSdkCE30.dll
Here the solution:
BEFORE you install TomTom 6/7 you need to do following steps:
1. install SKTools for wm5/6
NOW you can install your TomTom....restart....now go to SKTools...go to category "Files" and then click on "Replaced ROM Files"....now it will find those to files....just mark them and click on restore ROM files.....now reset....et voila! Sound, TomTom...everything works!
ANOTHER SOLUTION(in case you don't have SKTools):
1. download anper_tool for asus p525 or another kitchen you use for extracting files out your ROM flash file.
2. Use the tool to extract files from ROM file
3. go to "dump" directory and look for those 2 files I explained on top.
4. Make a back up of those files.
5. now when you install TomTom on a fresh system, use TotalCommander or Resco Explorer(which I prefer) to replace those 2 files with your backup.
now restart.........and enjoy!
I hope I could help!!
Cheers,
Downjones

I can't open .zip files on my phone

Hello everyone, here is my question there is a couple of cool apps but they are .zip folders and when i download them and put them in my phone it says "there is no application associated with this file. run the app first and then open this file inside the application". But i don't know how to run the app.
Please help me, it is driving me crazy!
Thank you
Perhaps if you could be more specific as to what kind of applications you are trying to install. You may need to install a driver in order to open said apps.
did you save the file to your storage card? if you did then open it up there first, then run it on your phone.
Did you download a .cab or a .zip file to begin with?? Sometimes your PC will identify a .cab file as a 'Compressed (Zipped) Folder'. (1) If you downloaded a .cab file, then just move it to your device or storage card, then execute it from there. (2) If you downloaded a .zip file, then you will need to extract (unzip) the file on the PC first, if it contains a .cab file then follow step 1 above.
Sometimes program files are zipped up for transport (e.g. an RUU packages), those files need to be extracted on the PC and then executed from there. Hope this helps!
