Confliction between CHome weather and WPC - HTC Excalibur

Hi. I use WPC (Wallpaper changer) and CHome mini weather 1.2 together.
However, they conflict.
I once insalled both and nothing was wrong. Moreover, I uninstalled CHome weather and insalled Feather Weather. I liked CHome weather better than Feather Weather; therefore, I reinstalled CHome after uninstalling Feather Weather. But, the problem occured at that point. Like the picture I uploaded, the home screen icons vanished.
In addition, I can't use WPC alone. If I uninstall CHome weather, or install only WPC, WPC shows some files are missed, and couldn't run it.
I tried in both of Main Memory and Storage Card, but the results are the same. I even performed a hard reset, and got no improvement.
What is wrong with my phone? Did I touch some BIOS setting?

Sounds like your missing mortscript.exe which is required for running WPC. Install mort and then WPC should work. Not working with miniweather could be caused by having the TestUIPlugin enabled, which I think is used for the 5 day forecast panel.

The main issue is that icons in home screen are vanished. How would I fix that?
And, where can I get "mort" from?

I'm running WPC together with NRGZ mini weather and I've never had any problems, not even when we were testing the beta version of WPC. Is got to be the TestUIPlugin, cause I've had mine disabled since before we started testing.

Search for mortscript 4.11b7 for smartphone. I know I've posted the cab in some of my threads, just don't remember which ones off hand.

It works greatly. WPC alone will show icons properly. But, I still have "vanishing icons" issue when I install CHome Weather.
After WPC changes the wallpaper, icons won't appear again. Is it the problem with CHome Weather? I just wonder why. Everything was working okay before I tried "Feather Weather." How come a hard reset also does not work. Doesn't the hard reset eliminate all the settings and files and then restore to factory default setting?
Any suggestion please?

Well, regardless of the weather app you're running, I would suggest to use your chome cofigurator and hide the weather TestUIplugin panel. If you did a hard reset properly there shouldn't be any programs or files that you had on your phone before. It goes back to factory settings, like you just installed the rom. If you gonna start over I suggest choose whatever weather app you want first, install it , hide the TestUIplugin panel, and then reinstall WPC.

10-button comm manager font screwed up

Hello,
I installed the 10-button comm manager from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316107
on my HTC TyTN (with the official wm6).
Everything works fine, even after restarts, etc. But at one point (don't know what determines this point), the text on the buttons is screwed up: I only see small lines; the logos are still in order and it still works.
I suspect it has to do with the font, but I could be wrong. Is there a way to get this back to normal? (removing/installing doesn't solve it, only way I know to solve it is to perform a hard reset - which is quite drastic )
Thanks!
Jörg

i think it was in the vp 3.62 thread, but someone else complained of a messed up font. turns out it was caused by a weather plugin i believe. do u have one installed?
Yes, I also have the 6-tab home plugin installed. The font and icons have been customized with the home customizer (but weather icons are still the default ones).
But IIRC, uninstalling the 6-tab home home plugin also didn't solve the issue...
What else could I try?
(thanks for helping me out!)

Yup.
I is caused by Weatherpanel.
You have to rename/delete the 2 fonts in the weatherpanel folder, or change your weatherpanel theme to one that doesn't use those fonts.
It's a glitch caused by windows mobile defaulting to the last font used when it should default to a system font.
I'm a bit confused now... The Weatherpanel, is that that weathertab present in the 6-tab home plugin (as that is the only weatherthing I have installed)?
Where can I find those fonts that I ought to delete?
Just for test purposes, I deinstalled both the home-plugin and the comm manager, then re-installed the comm manager, but its font was still messed up.

Weatherpanel is not the same thing. I havent actually used it, so maybe GldRush can put some pics up to show u what it looks like. Ur problem could very well be being caused by something else tho.
Ha, ok...
Most likely it is the same font bug, but with another program causing the problem...

wm6.1 weather

is there a way to make one of the panels in the sliding panels of wm6.1 display the weather
no.... and no.
The Weather On A Sliding Panel OH! YES! YES!
Good question, whatsoever the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve, dream it in the mind then bring it into yet to be technology. That's exactly what "xfaith" has done already, check his thread out "Mini Weather (English Weather Beta) WM6.1, also be sure to check out the screen shots of the "Mini Weather" on a sliding panel. Go here to his thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=389027. He has the software that you need (mini weather 1.1 English version.zip. Hmm...interesting. I think I'll check out this "mini weather" you're rapping about.
Interesting indeed... although not a very elegant solution Maybe we can use the other app that writes info to the registry and then read that info into a "welcome center" style panel that we can place anywhere. I guess the problem with that is, it wouldn't update very often... :/
Checked it out, works quite well for Memphis, TN, where I live. Haven't figured out how you could auto update in a useful way. Other than that and getting the cool icon panel interface, this looks promising.

That whole making a welcome center style panel idea is a pretty good one...
It is, because it's pretty flexible... We can have PNGs (weather icons) as well as text that can place anywhere on the panel. But some of us know, the text won't update unless the homescreen is reloaded. Maybe I can write an app that will write the weather values in the security and software/chome sections of the registry as weather gets updated... Hmm...
i copied the files inside of the zip file to my phne and ran the program when i choose update now it tells me "read configuration file fail!" help!!!
You have to open your Config file in notepad, change where it says Paris, change that to your city. Next copy it to your mini weather folder.
Also where it says: "CityStartStr="
Make it say: "CityStartStr=postal_code data="
Now, do that for every line in the notepad file that says CityStartStr=.
Once you finish save and copy/paste to the appropriate directory and viola, your'e all done. You should read the readme file you got in the zip of this. It tells you how to update automatically, as often as you want. HOLLA!
does this work with the 5.99 internet hack?

I got the rafer weather to update reg values in a welcome center panel but to see the update you have to reload the homescreen. Does anyone know a command or someway to reload homescreen without selecting new home from settings panel? I know that facade has a command for this but what is it? Also, I wrote a mortscript for updating and called it from SK2URL.
that's the problem i've predicted. the only panels that update in real time that i can think of are: cclock, messagecenter, notifications and of course the appointments panel. hmm... any ideas....?
New Idea: CTestUIPlugin
I was playing with it and if you change the registry value for update in CTestPlugin, it auto updates the CTestPlugin panel on the homescreen with any new values including icons added in image registry. I think it could be possible to use this panel for weather(possible that is why it was being tested?). ! haven't tried adding pages yet.
Reaaaaaaaaalllly !?! Wow.. I gotta check that out. I always that it behaved like ht welcomecenter sytle panels. Hmmm

Got a path to that? I would REALLY love to get weather working in a 'notifications'-style panel. With the current conditions and a tiny icon when unselected, day-by-day on the pages when it has focus.
BTW, what writes the weather to the registry? Is there a way to make a pass-through the registry to a xml file, or some other output of an existing weather app? It would give a nice UI for config, detail-view, and something for the button to trigger.
Weather In A Sliding Panel
I have MSNDirect weather in one of my 26 slides and I have the national weather radar in another panel in real time. I believe this is enough weather data for me. Naw, oh I almost forgot that I have another app that connect me to the weather channel. I'm a weather freak always try to track the perfect storm...........!
I think it's possible with SPB weather. It writes its weather info to the registry. then it would be a matter of someone (maybe myself) writing a small to copy the registry entries from SPB, over to our TestUIPLugin

Just create the paths in the two places in the registry, you know how to do it already. The PudgeDaddy is the man you want to see for the weather radar.............! As a matter of fact, I have 6 of your slides and 20 of Ricky's slides on my test device, the 6 with the TCPMP player is yours, now that one is slick.........! Now with Ricky's 6.1 ROM, I have v14 and v20 on my devices, because I believe with these versions you can be very creative, some of his other versions restrict you from being creative.....!

Weather for CHome... Take 2!

Alright. Completely redesigned from the ground up... CHome Weather 2 !
This will install two shortcuts in your Start Menu. A "Weather Update" shortcut, which you can use to update manually, as well as "Weather Options" shortcut.
Steps to take to make this work:
1) Install one of the cabs below. Pick the "Slim" version if you want thinner panels, like in the screenshots.
2) It should ask to reboot ! (turn phone off and on.. etc). If it doesn't... reboot manually!
3) Go to your Start Menu and find "Weather Options". Set your Zip / Location Code to your zip code if you're in the US or a "location code" if you're anywhere else. More info on finding your specific code is here http://developer.yahoo.com/weather/#req . Set the "Fahrenheit / Celsius" option to either "F" or "C" (without the quotes!). Specify how often you would like to autoupdate the weather information in minutes in option 3. Specify whether you would like the application to attempt to connect your default GPRS connection first, before updating. Finally you can turnoff the autoupdate feature with the last option (7).
4) Now it might be a good idea to go to Start and find "Update Weather" and run it.
5) The cab should set your homescreen to "Sliding Panel Top Bar + Weather!" automatically. If it doesn't, you need to do it manually to see the weather plugin. If you top icons disappear then you might have to use the regular "Sliding Panel + Weather!" theme.
Please let me know what bugs you find.
The first couple of thumbnails show the "Collapsed" state of the plugin, where it shows only the city and the current temp.
If you want your system font to look like the one in the thumbnails (calibri), download the .cab attached, install and reboot.
Revisions:
- Ver 1.7 More bug fixes. Hopefully this is a solid release. Options panel redesigned and touched up.
- Ver 1.6a A few bugs fixes. Removed internet connection checking routine as it obviously doesn't work for everybody. A few cosmetic changes.
- Ver 1.6 Added another homescreen theme as an option, that doesn't use the color topbar icons. Pick "Sliding Panel + Weather!" to use it. Added illi's potrait orientation .cpr file to the regular testui version cab. Added AutoUpdate on/off in the options panel (scroll down to see it). Reboot after changing that option. More bugfixes...
- Ver 1.5b. Bug fixes.
- Ver 1.5. Last update reflects time on Yahoo's servers in both layouts. More options added to options panel.
- Ver 1.04 A few updates. More options. Switch between two layouts. Bug fixes... etc
- Ver 1.03 Celsius bug squashed. Now the country code shows up after the city name for people outside the US.
- Ver 1.02 New logic in update script. Update percentage counter added. Forecast for tomorrow in the bottom line with hi and low values and hi and low values for the current day at the top, after the city name. Yahoo icon pack added, in case you prefer those.
- Ver 1.01. Added last update time as a second line under the current temp. Added dropshadow icons created by KWOODALL! Thanks for the beautiful icons! 5/11 10:52AM
As a side note, the second line display is dependant on the font used on the device, so it might not align properly on some device. Let me know when it doesn't and I'll update the script to work on your device. Or better yet, just download the Calibri font mod cab below and be happy. Thank you.
Link to Yahoo icon pack (install AFTER you install one of the cabs below, if you want the Yahoo icons): Yahoo icon pack
Please use the attached "unlock.cab" to unlock your device if you're getting permission errors trying to install my weather cabs. Thanks.

edit. i think i figured out the problem. Mis named two files, he got them flip-flopped. Go to program files/nrg/chomeweather and locate the weather.mscr file. It needs to be renamed SlidingPanelMediatopbar.home.xml and placed in the application data/home folder.//// but b-4 doing that you need to find the SlidingPanelMediatopbar.home.xml already in the application data/home folder and put it somewhere so it doesnt get overwritten. Then after youve moved the first file, relocate the SlidingPanelMediatopbar.home.xml file you relocated and rename it Weather.mscr and place it in program files/nrg/chomeweather . then try the update
update: the vibrate thing when you update the weather is kinda funky. you can take it out of the weather.mscr if you dont like it. Just do your edit via notepad on your pc and replace it into its original directory on your phone that it came from.... also dont forget to soft reset your phone after installing this .cab

@OrganicM
Just to let you know that it worked on Tornado too
Maybe putting it together with the CClock will be an option.

It's odd that *I* would that intentionally isn't it ? LOL Well I didn't, I guess my cab packaging software went haywire. I reuploaded the cab in the first post.
The only bug i see is that it will not initialize a data connection to update the weather info. I already have to have a data connection started b-4 it will update. So i have to open a program like PIE or Opera, get the data connection started, end that application then do the update. kinda of a pain in the butt, but hey my weather slide hasnt gone away yet, so i guees that's good
Alright, this is the kind of feedback I want. I will look into that, as I have an always on data connection on my phone. Thanks.
Same here with the Data Connection, but as soon as I initialized my data connection and went to UPDATE WEATHER, it refreshed my home screen, put it back to the default "Green" color and the Weather panel was gone....? What gives with that?
That's strange. It must be facadehelper.exe misbehaving. What theme and background were you running before ?
All of your stuff Organic! I love your themes, add-ons, all that stuff! This is everything I have installed:
Chome LCD Mod
CHome_ICONPATHS
NRG Battmeter
rinku
NRG Sliding Panel Favorites
But this is where it get's confusing, cause I have switch Slim CHome everytime you put a new one out, so first I had the original "NRG SlimChome" then "NRG Slim Chome 2" and I just installed "NRG SlimChome II No border" now.
With all the confusion of these and not being able to "uninstall" them or whatever, I've been thinking about flashing my ROM and startin' from scratch again, but I don't want to have to do that.

Chome Weather

This is an app that will add and update, in real time, a new panel on your sliding panels theme called "Weather".
It will install two shortcuts in your Start Menu. A "Weather Update" shortcut, which you can use to update manually, as well as a "Weather Options" shortcut.
Steps to take to make this work:
1) Install one of the cabs below. Pick the "Slim" version if you want thinner panels, like in the screenshots. Pick the Slim Background option to also get a background in the panel according to the current weather condition.
If you want your system font to look like the one in the thumbnails (calibri), download the .cab attached, install and reboot.
Please use the attached "unlock.cab" to unlock your device if you're getting permission errors trying to install my weather cabs. Thanks.
For now, I just released the SLIM version. Haven't had the time to create the cpr file for the regular version yet, but you'll have it tomorrow.
Pick one of the cabs below to install different icons, as seen in the pictures. Install the icon cabs, AFTER you install the main weather cab.
For people that still don't know how to manually update: you go to your start meny and find "Weather Update" and run it. Clicking the middle button on the keyboard, while having the weather slide activated will NOT do anything!
This will most likely enable ALL the panels installed on your phone, so use this utility to get rid of the ones you don't want displayed.

this project is interesting and I am following it since begin but why I have toshow on my home the actual weather and actual temeperature? I guess is better to put 3 small weather icons in the slide showing the weather in the next days... no? Or first icon for the actual day forecast and then the following days...
this may sound like a silly question but will this take away any of my current panels????
not to sound like a unappreciating ass, (your doing amazing work), but i agree with Iannik next thing you work on should be a forcast type thing, like a fizz weather type thing with 5 days or something like that.
ok, so this is a very noob question, but i have to be running 6.1 to use this homescreen, correct? i installed it before on my 6.0 dash, and it did nothing...
OrganicM,
Do you still have the latest (working) version using CWelcomeCenter? While working on my new CHome Configurator utility, I might figure out a way to update the plugin without reloading the whole homescreen. If it does work, you will be able to add forecast data into multiple panel and have the manual update process directly from the panel.

Yeah, I think this .cab only works with sliding panels (which are only available in WM6.1). I may be wrong.

LCD Font
Org, do you plan on releasing ver. 1.8 with an LCD system font?
Yes. All that is coming today. I didnd't have time to do all the regular versions last night, so I decided to at least release the slim version for you guys to try. I will get the "Fat" version out today with LCD and not, as well as a SLIM LCD version! Maybe even the IPhone layout if I'm happy with it.... hehe
p.s. I'm also working on a standalone CWelcomeCenter version based on the latest 1.8 code (which I've cleaned up a lot). We will also have forecast data with the current testui version, plus a welcomecenter panel underneath with forecast for a few days!

The iPhone version looks...awesome. I like how the center weather icon overlaps the panel--just a tad. Other people might find that a bug, but I actually like it.
LCD Front
This time use Kavana's Clock with the Staple Center scoreboard look, LA Lakers clock..............!
How!? How do you just keep killin' it O!? Great work dude!
i will offer a few options fo the lcd font

No CLinks on homescreen

For the life of me, I can not get CLINKS to show up on the homescreen.
I am using V14.
The reg is fine and so are the pics.
I have pinned it to "Shadow icons" when i enable them, I can not see CLinks.
Any ideas on how to have both?
I'm sure you've already done this, but have you checked the page order in BOTH places in your registry. It might not be in the same order, or might not be located in both registries.
I know you said you checked your registry, but I didn't know if you DID check the page order thing. Just an idea
Yeah...the problem is when i apply the Shadow icons...thats when i lose the panel.
this happend to me when installed the nrg chome weather , if you have that, uninstall it. and reinstall again
