10-button comm manager font screwed up - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Hello,
I installed the 10-button comm manager from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316107
on my HTC TyTN (with the official wm6).
Everything works fine, even after restarts, etc. But at one point (don't know what determines this point), the text on the buttons is screwed up: I only see small lines; the logos are still in order and it still works.
I suspect it has to do with the font, but I could be wrong. Is there a way to get this back to normal? (removing/installing doesn't solve it, only way I know to solve it is to perform a hard reset - which is quite drastic )
Thanks!
Jörg

i think it was in the vp 3.62 thread, but someone else complained of a messed up font. turns out it was caused by a weather plugin i believe. do u have one installed?

Yes, I also have the 6-tab home plugin installed. The font and icons have been customized with the home customizer (but weather icons are still the default ones).
But IIRC, uninstalling the 6-tab home home plugin also didn't solve the issue...
What else could I try?
(thanks for helping me out!)

Yup.
I is caused by Weatherpanel.
You have to rename/delete the 2 fonts in the weatherpanel folder, or change your weatherpanel theme to one that doesn't use those fonts.
It's a glitch caused by windows mobile defaulting to the last font used when it should default to a system font.

I'm a bit confused now... The Weatherpanel, is that that weathertab present in the 6-tab home plugin (as that is the only weatherthing I have installed)?
Where can I find those fonts that I ought to delete?
Just for test purposes, I deinstalled both the home-plugin and the comm manager, then re-installed the comm manager, but its font was still messed up.

Weatherpanel is not the same thing. I havent actually used it, so maybe GldRush can put some pics up to show u what it looks like. Ur problem could very well be being caused by something else tho.

Ha, ok...
Most likely it is the same font bug, but with another program causing the problem...

Hi! Great Work!
How do I change the clock from 24 hr to 12 hr with am/pm? I am using emunutz customizer but I see no option to change it nor is it in the clock settings. The clock on the title bar IS 12hr but the large clock is not.
thanks so much bro, i installed normally (not cooking) to my wizard with installing the suggested files, but also can't run, it seems to be very nice.

cool, now where would we get a black theme to make it look just like that we see in the htc rom? also does it work with a green theme? that one looked cool too.
Is it just me or the new home plug-in can't update the weather data?
tried other cities as well, no joy.
Thanks schen..!
Great work. But still bug with Backlight button in Launcher Tab.
How can fix it Schen ??

Anyone else have issues with this release and the Kaiser 10 button Comm manager? With the original 1.5 release, when a data connection was activated, the data connection in Comm manager wouldn't show activated (greyed out). I would have to touch it to activate the data connection( even though I was already connected) and then touch it again to deactivate. After installing the v2.0.720.719 the comm manager data connection magically started working. I just installed the 2.0.814.722 from this thread and it is back to operating like the original release. Is there any way to fix this so it shows a data connection is activated in comm manager when I am connected to Edge( 3g not in my area yet) so that I can just tap it to shut down?
Thanks. I hope I was explaining it well enough.

HTC Comm Manager

Hi there
Running Meschles Vanilla 2.0 (EXCELLENT)- just wondering if anyone out there knows of a way to change the colours in the HTC Comm Manager? Not just the black background, but also the blue and the red colours. Would like to change it more to fit into the rest of my theme.
Incidentally- if I LOVE the colours in the original Microsoft Guava theme- how could I fine out the "colour codes" (for want of a better term) to then apply to a re-coloured comm manager.
Would like to make it eg black on (guava) red!
Thanks all......
Any ideas anyone......?

afaik does it only change htc-home-related things...to change comm-manager icons you'll have to edit every single file.
correct me if i'm wrong with that, but i can't imagine another way to do this.
maybe you can download a comm-manager-cab (this one ? - it's the ten-button comm-manager from kaiser), extract all files and then you can try do change the pictures...
btw: there are about 90 pictures included.....happy editing

Yea, I've downloaded a 10 button Comm manager (can't remember which one), but it was screwing up my system. Slowed everything down. It would take almost 20 seconds to open the the Windows folder. The only way I could get rid of it was to hard reset. So please backup your device some kind of way before you download it just incase. Even after uninstalling it, my device was still slow.
The same problem with other app

Seems to be impossible what you would like to do. Since CommManager is 'burnt' onto the ROM, you can
a, overwrite it with your new coloured files - causing slowdown, or
b, leave it as is.
There is no third possibility.
And yes, after uninstalling or manually deleting the files with which you overwrote the original ones, the system still remains slow! (don't know why).
I'm struggling with a similar problem for a while. My ROM doesn't have HTC AudioManager built-in, so I installed it separately into Storage Card, to avoid slowndown. Then I installed Music plug-in for starting AudioManager directly from Today screen. And, althought the plug-in is selectable (WMP/AudioMan.), I can't use it for AudioManager because it can't find the prog.
The only solution would be a new or hacked plug-in version, capable of locating AudioManager, even if it's not in Wondows folder. If anybody knows such a version, please, warn me!
cheers
Never mind...Nice thought.
Thanks anyway guys

The Guava theme is my favorite as well. It looks really good the the grey icons instead of the colored ones. The B&B Comm Mgr would be perfect for this ROM but the only way to get it is to cook your own ROM. I just avoid going to the Comm Manager so I don't have to look at it much. You can change the icons and tabs on the home screen with the HTC Home Customizer software.

Weather for CHome... Take 2!

Alright. Completely redesigned from the ground up... CHome Weather 2 !
This will install two shortcuts in your Start Menu. A "Weather Update" shortcut, which you can use to update manually, as well as "Weather Options" shortcut.
Steps to take to make this work:
1) Install one of the cabs below. Pick the "Slim" version if you want thinner panels, like in the screenshots.
2) It should ask to reboot ! (turn phone off and on.. etc). If it doesn't... reboot manually!
3) Go to your Start Menu and find "Weather Options". Set your Zip / Location Code to your zip code if you're in the US or a "location code" if you're anywhere else. More info on finding your specific code is here http://developer.yahoo.com/weather/#req . Set the "Fahrenheit / Celsius" option to either "F" or "C" (without the quotes!). Specify how often you would like to autoupdate the weather information in minutes in option 3. Specify whether you would like the application to attempt to connect your default GPRS connection first, before updating. Finally you can turnoff the autoupdate feature with the last option (7).
4) Now it might be a good idea to go to Start and find "Update Weather" and run it.
5) The cab should set your homescreen to "Sliding Panel Top Bar + Weather!" automatically. If it doesn't, you need to do it manually to see the weather plugin. If you top icons disappear then you might have to use the regular "Sliding Panel + Weather!" theme.
Please let me know what bugs you find.
The first couple of thumbnails show the "Collapsed" state of the plugin, where it shows only the city and the current temp.
If you want your system font to look like the one in the thumbnails (calibri), download the .cab attached, install and reboot.
Revisions:
- Ver 1.7 More bug fixes. Hopefully this is a solid release. Options panel redesigned and touched up.
- Ver 1.6a A few bugs fixes. Removed internet connection checking routine as it obviously doesn't work for everybody. A few cosmetic changes.
- Ver 1.6 Added another homescreen theme as an option, that doesn't use the color topbar icons. Pick "Sliding Panel + Weather!" to use it. Added illi's potrait orientation .cpr file to the regular testui version cab. Added AutoUpdate on/off in the options panel (scroll down to see it). Reboot after changing that option. More bugfixes...
- Ver 1.5b. Bug fixes.
- Ver 1.5. Last update reflects time on Yahoo's servers in both layouts. More options added to options panel.
- Ver 1.04 A few updates. More options. Switch between two layouts. Bug fixes... etc
- Ver 1.03 Celsius bug squashed. Now the country code shows up after the city name for people outside the US.
- Ver 1.02 New logic in update script. Update percentage counter added. Forecast for tomorrow in the bottom line with hi and low values and hi and low values for the current day at the top, after the city name. Yahoo icon pack added, in case you prefer those.
- Ver 1.01. Added last update time as a second line under the current temp. Added dropshadow icons created by KWOODALL! Thanks for the beautiful icons! 5/11 10:52AM
As a side note, the second line display is dependant on the font used on the device, so it might not align properly on some device. Let me know when it doesn't and I'll update the script to work on your device. Or better yet, just download the Calibri font mod cab below and be happy. Thank you.
Link to Yahoo icon pack (install AFTER you install one of the cabs below, if you want the Yahoo icons): Yahoo icon pack
Please use the attached "unlock.cab" to unlock your device if you're getting permission errors trying to install my weather cabs. Thanks.

edit. i think i figured out the problem. Mis named two files, he got them flip-flopped. Go to program files/nrg/chomeweather and locate the weather.mscr file. It needs to be renamed SlidingPanelMediatopbar.home.xml and placed in the application data/home folder.//// but b-4 doing that you need to find the SlidingPanelMediatopbar.home.xml already in the application data/home folder and put it somewhere so it doesnt get overwritten. Then after youve moved the first file, relocate the SlidingPanelMediatopbar.home.xml file you relocated and rename it Weather.mscr and place it in program files/nrg/chomeweather . then try the update
update: the vibrate thing when you update the weather is kinda funky. you can take it out of the weather.mscr if you dont like it. Just do your edit via notepad on your pc and replace it into its original directory on your phone that it came from.... also dont forget to soft reset your phone after installing this .cab

It's odd that *I* would that intentionally isn't it ? LOL Well I didn't, I guess my cab packaging software went haywire. I reuploaded the cab in the first post.
The only bug i see is that it will not initialize a data connection to update the weather info. I already have to have a data connection started b-4 it will update. So i have to open a program like PIE or Opera, get the data connection started, end that application then do the update. kinda of a pain in the butt, but hey my weather slide hasnt gone away yet, so i guees that's good
Alright, this is the kind of feedback I want. I will look into that, as I have an always on data connection on my phone. Thanks.
Same here with the Data Connection, but as soon as I initialized my data connection and went to UPDATE WEATHER, it refreshed my home screen, put it back to the default "Green" color and the Weather panel was gone....? What gives with that?
That's strange. It must be facadehelper.exe misbehaving. What theme and background were you running before ?
All of your stuff Organic! I love your themes, add-ons, all that stuff! This is everything I have installed:
Chome LCD Mod
CHome_ICONPATHS
NRG Battmeter
rinku
NRG Sliding Panel Favorites
But this is where it get's confusing, cause I have switch Slim CHome everytime you put a new one out, so first I had the original "NRG SlimChome" then "NRG Slim Chome 2" and I just installed "NRG SlimChome II No border" now.
With all the confusion of these and not being able to "uninstall" them or whatever, I've been thinking about flashing my ROM and startin' from scratch again, but I don't want to have to do that.

No CLinks on homescreen

For the life of me, I can not get CLINKS to show up on the homescreen.

The reg is fine and so are the pics.
I have pinned it to "Shadow icons" when i enable them, I can not see CLinks.
Any ideas on how to have both?
I'm sure you've already done this, but have you checked the page order in BOTH places in your registry. It might not be in the same order, or might not be located in both registries.
I know you said you checked your registry, but I didn't know if you DID check the page order thing. Just an idea

Confliction between CHome weather and WPC

Hi. I use WPC (Wallpaper changer) and CHome mini weather 1.2 together.
However, they conflict.
I once insalled both and nothing was wrong. Moreover, I uninstalled CHome weather and insalled Feather Weather. I liked CHome weather better than Feather Weather; therefore, I reinstalled CHome after uninstalling Feather Weather. But, the problem occured at that point. Like the picture I uploaded, the home screen icons vanished.
In addition, I can't use WPC alone. If I uninstall CHome weather, or install only WPC, WPC shows some files are missed, and couldn't run it.
I tried in both of Main Memory and Storage Card, but the results are the same. I even performed a hard reset, and got no improvement.
What is wrong with my phone? Did I touch some BIOS setting?

Sounds like your missing mortscript.exe which is required for running WPC. Install mort and then WPC should work. Not working with miniweather could be caused by having the TestUIPlugin enabled, which I think is used for the 5 day forecast panel.
The main issue is that icons in home screen are vanished. How would I fix that?
And, where can I get "mort" from?

It works greatly. WPC alone will show icons properly. But, I still have "vanishing icons" issue when I install CHome Weather.
After WPC changes the wallpaper, icons won't appear again. Is it the problem with CHome Weather? I just wonder why. Everything was working okay before I tried "Feather Weather." How come a hard reset also does not work. Doesn't the hard reset eliminate all the settings and files and then restore to factory default setting?
Any suggestion please?

Well, regardless of the weather app you're running, I would suggest to use your chome cofigurator and hide the weather TestUIplugin panel. If you did a hard reset properly there shouldn't be any programs or files that you had on your phone before. It goes back to factory settings, like you just installed the rom. If you gonna start over I suggest choose whatever weather app you want first, install it , hide the TestUIplugin panel, and then reinstall WPC.
